This sounds like a great idea. Especially for the cooks. It will be fun and exciting new thing to try this Christmas. Maybe for some, this will even become a new Christmas tradition!

If you have ever cooked for a big event that had a lot of people, you know hard and stressful it can be and when the time comes to celebrate and enjoy the food, the cook just wants to go take a nice hot shower and go to bed. Let’s try to change things up a bit this Christmas! Let’s distribute the work over all the people who will come to celebrate.

Usually, there are lots of relatives gathering for Christmas and there are a lot of mouths to be fed but imagine all the food that there will be if everyone brings one dish. This will be easy on everyone as every person will only have to bring one of something, not one person cooking for everyone.

Gather up with your relatives, or send them out little invitation cards telling them what they have to bring to the Christmas celebration. Make this organized to make sure that everyone doesn’t bring the same thing. This will be very exciting since you get to try many different foods that were prepared by different cooks making each meal unique. This will also be a great time to share recipes! Try this little idea and see how it works out.

This is a guide on how to be popular in school.

How to be cool in School

1. Before anything else, remember personal hygiene. Brush your teeth, take a shower, and put on deodorant every morning. No one likes a smelly person.

2. Clothes aren’t the most important thing, but remember, no one likes a person dressed in rags. If you want to be cool you have to look it too. Shop at the stores which are popular now. E.g. Aeropstale, Forever21, Converse etc. If you can’t afford to shop at stores like that then go to Walmart, Target, Jc Penny etc. and find clothes that look just like the ones in popular stores except cost a lot less.

3. Personality is very, very important. Try to be polite. If you aren’t polite no one will like you in the first place. Everyone likes someone who is funny and has a sense of humor. Learn to laugh at yourself. Also, don’t act like a king or queen. Act like a friend to everybody.

4. Try to locate the people who are most popular, and fit in with them. You will be looked up to.

5. Make sure you don’t stray from who you actually are, or you will be called a poser and never live it down.

6. Most importantly, have fun. Don’t try too hard. Make sure you are enjoying yourself.

Everyone loves their slice of gossip. But how can you avoid putting yourself in trouble but still gossip? Here are the differences between a normal gossiper and an intelligent gossiper. Take you pick!

Everyone gossips. Don’t deny it (I’m pretty sure some of the gentlemen reading this would put their hands up and say “I’ve never gossiped in my life!”) but let’s get real, everyone has done it and probably will gossip in the future. Even though gossiping is looked upon very badly, gossiping actually has its own benefits. Many studies say that gossiping is a good way to encourage conversation and social contact. So ladies, if you have a female friend at work that you don’t get on with particularly, try gossiping about, say your boss and you should notice that the slagging off does actually pay off because conversation runs more smoothly when you express yourself without any hesitation. Studies have also shown that gossiping helps to reduce anxiety and stress because this way, any frustration or worries can be shared with someone, meaning that you don’t have to keep it bottled within you and leave it to fester.

Gossiping can be positive or negative. A small amount of harmless gossiping isn’t dangerous at all. This type of gossiping involves just passing on information to one another. This way you are just making conversation without hurting anyone. But the other type of gossiping can be quite detrimental to human relations and this is the negative type of gossiping. This type of gossiping is aimed at hurting a person’s feelings or making rumours. Once these rumours are made, these then continue to make matters worse for you.

So how can you gossip and be intelligent?

Here’s how. There are two types of gossipers, the intelligent gossipers and the…well, not so intelligent ones. Below are some ways you can see which category you belong to.

First, let’s look at the unintelligent gossipers. Unintelligent gossipers always run head first into any gossip or an argument. These are the sort of gossipers that walk towards a situation where there is conflict. There is a reason as to why they do that and that is because they want to know what is happening in the argument so that they have their own source of reliable information. But this can be unwise because if you are present in a gossip circle or an argument, you are easily targeted even if you weren’t actually involved in the argument. People can use you to back their claims. By quoting what you may have said in the gossip circle, you feed yourself to those other people waiting to exploit the gossip you have (painstakingly) found out yourself. Unintelligent gossipers are the talkers. They give out the information rather than getting it, most of the time. Unintelligent ones are the ones that look for gossip and give it out anyway.

So that was an unintelligent gossiper, so how can you be an intelligent one? Well, intelligent gossipers as listeners. They are the ones who sit silently in the corner in the friendship group or a gossip circle and just soak up the gossip without actually participating in it by talking. If there is an argument, an intelligent gossiper leaves the situation as soon as he or she senses an argument is brewing. Instead, an intelligent gossiper waits patiently for an unintelligent one to tell them what happened in the argument. The advantage of being an intelligent gossiper is that you can wait for different unintelligent gossipers to come to you and give their side of a particular story and then you can make up your own mind depending on what people have told you. This way, you aren’t present in the argument but you still know what happened anyway and you won’t be drawn into any further conflicts if there is one. Intelligent gossipers store all of the gossip in them and then one day, when they have to use the gossip to their advantage – they will! But when they do that, they will be wise! One drawback with this is, if you are approached by unintelligent gossipers and are told different takes on one particular story, hearing a wrong story and then using it to your advantage to spread it out can be silly and will make you an unintelligent gossiper immediately.

So, to be an intelligent gossiper, you don’t have to talk, you just have to soak up what you hear. Reading the above, make your mind up, whether you want to be an intelligent gossiper or an unintelligent one.

Learning how to converse.

There are many ways to approach language learning one of the best ways is through conversation and this does not mean the person is going to be a perfect speaker nor does it mean that he has to know every expression or phrasal verb that is out there. The best way to get a conversation going is by picking a topic that the student is familiar with and then having them talk about what he knows regarding it. Students should learn to feel comfortable about talking on a variety of subjects but occasionally they are going to prefer some and not others. It is advisable that the chosen topics are also liked by the individual so that he is not just going to be defensive when he gives his opinions on it and that the vocabulary used should match his comprehension level. The key is moderation and eventually the student will feel comfortable expressing his ideas and giving his opinion.

Conversate has become a popular word in some circles even though it isn't a word.

Well, I should say, it isn’t a word in the dictionary. Some people use and respond to the word without a second thought, as if the word converse was only a pair of sneakers.

Converse means, among other things, to talk with another or others, and to exchange views and opinions by talking. When people use the word conversate they could instead simply use the word “talk” or “talking”.

Some people realize the word is not correct English but couldn’t care less. As long as they understand and are understood, it is their opinion that the dictionary is behind the times, not them. After all, the word bling was added in 1999 to describe flashy jewelry and the word google was added in 2001 to describe a search for something on the internet so it’s not so far fetched to imagine that the word conversate could be added as another way to say… well, converse.

Some people honestly don’t know that conversate isn’t a word but it’s important for them to realize that when they use it they are put at a disadvantage in their school or professional lives. It is unlikely that they will be corrected but you can rest assured that they will be judged by their apparent inability to use words correctly.

If using any word incorrectly has become a habit it’s not too difficult to overcome the practice of using it. The dictionary is a good place to start but asking for advice or help from others is also beneficial in compelling you to find other ways to say what you mean and mean what you say.
