			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What is wisdom? But first, what are the situation that render it desirable, if not necessary, and what is its essential reason? </p>
<p> Life is a yearn to reside, and better still a desire to reside joyously. As we strive to satisfy this yearns, we encounter obstacles that perplex or frustrate our efforts. This difficulty or annoyance allowances to pain because it stands in the way of satisfaction.</p>
<p> Wisdom is designed to help us contend with this suffering. It is an adaptive product of cause in the face of strong circumstances. Thanks to it, joyfulness is conceivable and achievable in spite of everything. It is thus the supreme good.</p>
<p> Actually, religion is a good that numerous grade equally high, since it serves the identical reason as wisdom, if distinctly. The difference lies in the way belief and wisdom depict suffering and characterize the meaning of life.</p>
<p> From the perspective of religion, pain betrays a state of worldly imperfection that is in contradiction with the human yearn for perfect joyfulness. Consequently, life here underneath &ndash; where humans are condemned to suffer &ndash; is absurd in itself. Or rather, life is significant strictly in terms of means to a fantastic end in the large after: A life of virtue organizes the way for an afterlife of bliss. The religious accept as true this in agreement with the teachings of an motivated religious foremost, who assertions to know the transcendental environment of the hereafter.</p>
<p> While personally I cast a skeptical eye on these teachings, I keep my brain open. They are highly doubtful, but the transcendental environment of their object places them after the come to of any discredit founded on conclusive clues. </p>

<p> What odd whim, in the annals of humankind, has compelled persons from every stroll of life to depart their cozy dwelling and embark on risky projects? Perhaps this whim is not so odd after all. A multitude of conquests have been made for the sheer joy of conquering against large odds. The operative phrase is pride, accompanied by exhilaration. To conquest-minded persons the infinite alleviate of heaven entails infinite boredom. To them life &ndash; simultaneously with the struggle that is integral to it &ndash; is the very thing that flawless happiness departs to be desired. It is an opportunity to verify courageous and victorious, though it is furthermore a risk of falling short painfully.</p>
<p> Joyfulness is about grasping this opportunity with bravery and profiting a victory over the obstacles that stand between us and achievement in all the activities that most issue to us. This victory is often strenuous and always restricted, precarious, and transitory, and we are bound to lose the battle in the end; but that makes the triumph all the more prized and worthy of savoring.</p>
<p> When endeavoring to characterize the undertakings in which we most care to do well, we are compelled to study our environment to know our reason. Our growing shrewd depends on this study and this information, leading to this definition. It begins with a perception of our animal will to endure, as survival is the base on which life, in the truly human sense, is constructed. The awareness of life in this sense follows. It takes into account both our humanity and our individuality, as constituents of society with specific flavors and abilities to which a broad variety of undertakings are matched.</p>
<p> The clearer we are about our reason, the more we can live our lives with conclusion and passion, and so with a larger possibility of doing well and accomplishing happiness. The reverse is equally factual. It thus stands to cause that in striving after wisdom we lay the groundwork for achievement and happiness.</p>

		<description><![CDATA[My short speech on Mother Teresa which I delivered in class last semester.]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><p>Someone said &ldquo;<i>One of the greatest diseases is to be nobody to anybody</i>&rdquo;.</p>
<p>To love your neighbour is an obligation. A world without love is a desert even if it is entirely a forest. I am here to talk of someone who dared to love; someone who stood for love all through life.</p>
<p>This person said &ldquo;<i>Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty</i>&rdquo;. This person also said &ldquo;<i>The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread</i>&rdquo;.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I am here to talk of none other than Mother Teresa. She was a very brave woman and was not afraid of what others thought of her. She stood for values and never compromised on her core beliefs under any circumstance. She was not the type to say anything just to be diplomatic, or to soothe anyone&rsquo;s ego.</p>
<p>In 1997, in the midst of thousands, and with the US President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton on stage, she courageously spoke out against legalized abortion. She said &ldquo;<i>The greatest destroyer of peace is abortion because if a mother can kill her own child, what is left for me to kill you and you to kill me? There is nothing between</i>&rdquo;.</p>
<p>Mother Teresa was a firm opponent of the death penalty. In the year 1990, when a prisoner named Robert Harris was condemned to death, she phoned up the governor of California, Deukmejian, and requested him to grant clemency. The governor spoke of how he simply could not do that as it would be against the law. Mother Teresa told him, &ldquo;<i>Do what Jesus would do</i>&rdquo;.&nbsp; He talked again about how it was in the state&rsquo;s hand, but Mother Teresa repeated what she said-&ldquo;<i>Do what Jesus would do if he was in your position</i>&rdquo;. She cut to the heart of the matter.</p>
<p>The execution was stayed.</p>
<p>Mother Teresa was very clear about one thing. She was not a social worker but a Catholic nun, and wherever she went, she put the faith first. She helped thousands of terminally sick street people die a peaceful death surrounded by love. The last thing that bothered her was the allegation of Hindutva groups that her work was a cover for the conversion of people to Catholicism.</p>
<p>Many people speak and give great discourses, but very few walk the talk. Mother Teresa was one of them.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>After facing failure you simply want to die. You have no courage or energy for anything.</p>
<p>You need a miracle.</p>
<p>Therefore, you must believe in miracles. This is the first rule you have to obey if you want to have the courage to go ahead and triumph. This is very difficult because you cannot believe in anything.</p>
<p>However, I can prove to the world that miracles happen because I found salvation from despair when I was totally lost, depressed, and always angry. I was saved by a miracle.</p>
<p>This is why I&rsquo;m telling you that you must believe in miracles. Your faith won&rsquo;t be based on your imagination.</p>
<p>The unconscious mind that produces your dreams is God&rsquo;s mind. God exists, and He is as saintly and as wise as described by all religions. He helps us in all ways when we obey His guidance in the dream messages. Carl Jung discovered this truth, but he acted like a scientist, and not like a sinner. I, who was a terrible sinner, could easily understand that I was receiving divine grace without deserving it. Thus, I had a religious attitude.</p>
<p>This story looks like a fairy tale, but there is also a tragic part in it, which proves that it is not an invention. There is always something bad in our reality when we discover the truth. This is why we never doubt that there is something bad behind the scenes, or that something bad could happen in the future. However, we are always afraid to trust someone. We cannot believe that we will find something good in the dark future ahead.</p>
<p>The divine unconscious mind is very generous and sends us precious messages in dreams because we are basically demons. We need guidance in order to eliminate all the evilness, the absurdity, the indifference, and the cruelty we have inherited into the biggest part of our brain.</p>
<p>In other words, we are immensely helped in all ways when we learn the dream language and we understand the unconscious guidance in dreams. However, we receive this generous help because we are too far from balance and we cannot find peace without guidance. This is the tragic part of the story.</p>
<p>Dreams are mysterious because the unconscious mind must hide the information it sends to our conscience from our anti-conscience, which is the primitive side of our conscience that didn&rsquo;t evolve like our human side. We have to study the dream language in order to understand the meaning of dreams.</p>
<p>The anti-conscience will be able to understand the meaning of our dreams when our human conscience will understand their meaning by studying the dream language. However, the anti-conscience won&rsquo;t be able to distort the meaning of the dream messages because it will learn this meaning after our human conscience does.</p>
<p>On the other hand, the anti-conscience is idiotic. Its intelligence cannot be compared to the intelligence of our human conscience. Our conscience can study and learn many things, while the anti-conscience refuses studying and learning whatever. It is a self-destructive animal.</p>
<p>Therefore, the reason why our dreams are so confusing is the necessity to hide the unconscious messages from our anti-conscience, which would distort their meaning if it could learn it before our conscience would understand these messages and follow the unconscious guidance.</p>
<p>You only have to learn the dream logic and the meaning of the most important dream symbols in order to understand how the dream images are connected. The dream images follow the unconscious logic.</p>
<p>Thus, miracles can happen because God exists and He helps us in all ways by sending us precious guidance in dreams.</p>
<p>You will be immensely helped by following the unconscious guidance, and successfully solve all problems. This guarantee is given to you thanks to my work, after continuing Jung&rsquo;s research, and discovering the unconscious sanctity.</p>
<p>The unconscious mind will show you how to achieve your goals by giving you many clues, like a good teacher. You have to participate of your psychotherapy and put all the clues together, making your conclusions.</p>
<p>In the end, you&rsquo;ll become a doctor too. You&rsquo;ll understand all the process of your psychotherapy and how someone can be cure through dream translation. The unconscious mind gives you many lessons and explanations in dreams.</p>
<p>The unconscious messages will help you believe in salvation because you will see how your problems can be solved. You will feel that you have the privilege to understand many things about yourself and about the world thanks to the unconscious guidance.</p>
<p>The second rule you must respect in order to have the courage to go ahead after facing failure is the fact that you have to accept failure as if it was not the end of the world. Of course, a failure is the end of the world for you. However, the truth is that the world will keep working even after your big failure. The sun will shine again. The birds will sing with all their energy, as if nothing bad had happened to you.</p>
<p>A failure is not the end of the world, even though it seems to be a tragic end. Each failure is another lesson and another step in your journey.</p>
<p>The third rule is related to the second one. You must always stand up after falling, and keep walking. If you&rsquo;ll keep walking, someday you&rsquo;ll arrive.</p>
<p>The unconscious mind will help you arrive faster, and without making useless attempts. You will be guided.</p>
<p>You will surely find the courage you need to go ahead and triumph thanks to dream translation. It is utmost important to save this industry. No gender has monopoly on mutual respect. Both men and women alike should pay respect to each other.</p>
<p>Some people are also of the view point that respect should not be made a part of war for any one gender. Men and Women should respect each others equally and it should be expressed at every event. Women expect hearing truth from men. They like men who take active part in the life&#8217;s struggle. Vinkas suggested four steps of moral ethics in view of today&#8217;s age that can be implemented 1) Take initiative in opening the door for any women 2) Keep standing until a woman takes her seat 3) Whenever you go with a woman for outdoor meal pay the bill 4) While traveling in a public transport, give your seat to a woman.<img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/readers/2012/01/23/respect-2_1.jpg" alt="" width="116" height="166" /></p>
<p>In the modern age, majority of men do not express moral ethics due to the fear of cheating. Ponam Singh of American College Dubai opines that ethics grow with different cultures and their expression can be seen in crises as well. On 14th April 1914, when Titanic was sinking in the sea, why it was decided taking women and children first in a life boat away from the ship. Reality is that even in severe crises nobody forgets expressing morals.</p>
<p>However, the meanings of ethics have changed with the time now. Now, paying other&#8217;s bill, opening door for somebody, giving your seat to anybody and helping any injured person also come under ethics. In societies, where men and women both play their roles in the life&#8217; struggle, pay attention to the mutual respect equally in the society, In Asian countries these values are found comparatively more.</p>
<p>Katty Foster has been associated with the public relation&#8217;s field for the last 25 years. She met her husband after 20 years of separation. The attitude of her husband didn&#8217;t change during these years. Mrs. Foster says that resp<img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/readers/2012/01/23/respect-3_1.jpg" alt="" width="144" height="147" />ect and ethics are such codes of conduct that enables a noble person passing a better life.</p>
<p>Good manners and ethics are correlated in many people with their DNA also. They do not think much before doing any good work. They keep true respect for others in their heart. Katty Foster says that in spite of living away for the long time, we both give respect to each other very much in any dinner party or amusement site.</p>
<p>Foster says, &#8220;I am unable to understand why people do not follow code of conduct? Why do you not think any good for a person who sweeps roads or safe your shoes from going dirty?&#8221;</p>
<p><img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/readers/2012/01/23/respect-4_1.jpg" alt="" width="141" height="131" />Mrs. Foster says, &#8220;My husband respects me and when he cares me without limits I start thinking myself as a queen. The expression of respect from man for women is actually a way of giving honor to a woman.&#8221;</p>
<p>Sticka Maria works as a therapy practitioner. In her opinion the respect and honor emotions mostly relates to men. For some people, it is also a matter of ego and prestige that they would open door for some women or offer them theirs seat.</p>
<p>Some people never feel shy even after committing a fault while some others ask pardon immediately. Such a person learns much from his faults and stands up at the top level of ethics.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><p>Would You like to Know why there is a lot of stress and sadness in the streets you and I walk through? I know one simple reason: many people are displaced. They work where they feel they don&rsquo;t need to work. They belong where they do not fit. In short, they left their dream somewhere along the way, some have forgotten where! If you were asked where you&rsquo;d like to be it would definitely be somewhere but here.</p>
<p>Yes, the society is cruel, not just sometimes, but most of the times. And take a look again, many people are where they are not because of the gifts they came here with, but because of the &ldquo;connections&rdquo; that lifted them somewhere, and lifted them at the wrong place. Few people really get their dreams. But I dare say&hellip;</p>
<p>&hellip; follow your dreams.</p>
<p>Even if you have no hope of reaching those dreams. Follow their light! Go after them until you die, even if you do not get them. That is what I am telling you today, and from inside experience, and deep certitude, I tell you why:</p>
<p>Your dream constitutes the one reason for which you live, and may be the only cause of your death. It takes a lot of courage to pursue a dream. It implies a lot of suffering also. It could mean taking the bold step to make a difference like untraveled road. But the beautiful thing about it is this: the road you follow towards your dream becomes a pathway for others. Only selfish people think it could be late to follow the light of a dream. When your dream becomes reality, you cease to possess it because it becomes inspiration for others, the road they walked a passage.</p>
<p>Some people die fighting. They die trying. They die without seeing the fruits of what they strove for. But they die, bearing before their gaze, the vision of their dream. Thus their lives become a legacy! History gives us many great examples.</p></p>

<p>Was anyone as relieved as I was to see the end of year 2011? Sadly for me and for many others who have lost loved ones, I have to say it had been a heart-wrenching one. The shocking news of my dear brother&rsquo;s death early in the year crippled every belief system in me, leaving me in a state of physical, mental and spiritual drain. How I pulled through those disheartening periods, after the shock, still baffles me. &nbsp;</p>
<p>Having gone through this and other unforeseen disappointments, never in my wildest imagination did I ever think I was going to smile again? I never imagined I would ever share with family and friends, the fond memories of my late brother with a smile? Or even be grateful to have known him for the little time we did?</p>
<p>This goes to show the amazing strength of our human nature. &nbsp;We sometimes forget how strong we really are until we are faced with adversity. Whatever perplexities life throws your way, you have to react with confidence and courage. And no matter what, we will always come out victorious. It is those battles that we win on the inside that really defines the strength of who we really are.</p>
<p>I&rsquo;m particularly inspired by this quote by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. &ldquo;The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Taking a final reflection on the year, although it had been rough and dreadful, it has changed my perspectives about a lot of things. I have become a stronger and better person. I have learnt to live life, take things easy, and slow down a bit. I have learnt to appreciate things and people around me more. The same year, I took time out to travel to two new places and it has been an amazing experience. I never want to go back to that sad place or be depressed about little things. And if things don&rsquo;t go my way, I would keep trying. I want to live each day as if it was my last and not to have regrets about anything so that when I&rsquo;m gone, I want people to remember me for how happy I was and not how depressed or sad I was. I do hope someone would be inspired by this and make the most of this coming year. And hope the New Year would be good to us all. Happy New Year!</p>

		<description><![CDATA[Both courage and recklessness involve the taking of an risky act. But how could we actually tell the difference between courage and recklessness?]]></description>
			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What is the difference between courage and recklessness? That is one of many questions I have been wondering for quite a long time. In most cases, most people have the capability to subjectively categorize an action by an actor as an act of courage or an act of recklessness. But without knowing the specific principle that we actually use to categorize an act as either, it is not possible to consciously examine the validity of our categorization.</p>
<p>When we hear the story of a soldier who uses his own body to shield his comrade from the explosion of a grenade and died, most of us would categorize the act as an act of courage. When we hear the story of a teenager who fall down a cliff because he failed to check the brake of his car before playing a game of chicken race, most of us would categorize the act as an act of recklessness.</p>
<p>Both people died because they choose to do an act that would put risk on their own lives. In fact the act of the soldier in the paragraph above is more risky than the act of the teenager. But while the degree of risk involved is an important part for an act to be considered as either courageous or reckless, it is not as decisive while we actually need to further categorize the action as one of either.</p>
<p>To understand the characteristics of an action that we actually used to categorize it as either, we will need to examine the thought process that we actually used when we do the categorization.</p>
<p>First, we will need to realize that human action is a deliberate action aimed to get a definite end. Both the soldier and the teenager in the example above didn&rsquo;t do their actions for nothing. When the soldier decided to sacrifice himself, he did so to get a definite end, which is the safety of his comrades. When the teenager decided to play chicken race, he also did so to get a definite end, which is to earn recognition from his fellow racers.</p>
<p>Second, we need to realize that our act of categorizing is actually an act of valuation. Specifically, when we categorize an action as either courageous or reckless, we compare our subjective valuation of human lives with our subjective valuation of the definite ends each actor tried to achieve by doing their respective acts. If we in the end of our valuation, decided that the definite ends to be reached by the risky act is greater than our valuation of the specific human live that might be sacrificed, we would consider the act as courageous. Otherwise we would consider the act as recklessness.</p>
<p>Third, an act of valuation is inherently subjective to the subject who does the valuation. This is where we realize that each of us have priorities and have the tendency to sacrifice our lower priorities in favor of our higher priorities. Valuation over the priorities held by another person is an important factor when we need to consider whether we would hang out with that person or not. For example, people who prioritize human lives over fun, tends not to hang out with people who readily sacrifice human lives to get fun.</p>
<p>In the end, that is what courage is. As Ambrose Redmoon said it, &ldquo;Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.&rdquo;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><p><strong>ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS EVE</strong></p>
<p>It was Christmas Eve and Faith Jayson was just putting the finishing touches on the birthday cake; after all it is Jesus birthday isn&rsquo;t it and everyone, even Jesus, maybe especially Jesus, should have a birthday cake.&nbsp; It was one of those Christmas traditions Faith had established for her family when she and Rod were first married.&nbsp; Rod had always thought it rather silly but he had humored her&nbsp;over a double scotch and soda followed by his Budweiser* chasers.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Rod wasn&rsquo;t here anymore.&nbsp; His drinking had gotten the best of him and one day after a terrible fight he had stormed out the door and never returned.&nbsp; For the first few years they heard from him off and on but he never came home again.&nbsp; Those first few years he&rsquo;d call occasionally.&nbsp; He was either in Arkansas, or Virginia, or Texas or California or somewhere else and Faith knew from their conversations he was still drinking and hadn&rsquo;t changed. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>Rod was always in some sort of trouble and needed money.&nbsp; He promised to change and to come home and be a real family and at first Faith sent the money and believed and waited&hellip;and waited, and waited and waited but he never came home and he never changed.&nbsp; The last time Rod had called was five years ago on Christmas Eve from Arizona and he was in jail and needed money.&nbsp; He needed money to get out of jail come home on and he&rsquo;d come home and find a job, he promised, and they&rsquo;d be a real family and he was sorry.&nbsp; He was so sorry.&nbsp; Faith had heard that before.&nbsp; It had never happened.&nbsp; Why did she think it might this time?</p>
<p>There was a long pause while Faith thought about what she should do.&nbsp; After all, this man was the father of her children.&nbsp; At one time he had been a loving husband.&nbsp; She had hoped upon hope things would turn around.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Somewhere deep inside her she still hoped but that hope was now clouded by too many years of struggle and hardships keeping her little family fed and sheltered and properly clothed.&nbsp;</p>
<p>She glanced over at the children, ages ten, eight and five, sitting at the table coloring.&nbsp; She looked at their poor excuse for a Christmas tree that looked more like something out of a &ldquo;Charlie Brown&rdquo; cartoon and thought about the meager gifts she had hidden in the back of her closet, just one toy for each and a few basic necessities like underwear and socks and mittens, things they really needed and all she had been able to afford.&nbsp; She had to buy fuel and food.&nbsp; Rod had left when their youngest had been only three months old.&nbsp; She didn&rsquo;t even know her father.&nbsp; Even the older two were young enough when Rod left so all they had were a few fading memories of the man they had once called &ldquo;Daddy.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Faith heaved a long sigh and said calmly into the receiver, &ldquo;Have a Merry Christmas, Rod,&rdquo; and she hung up.</p>
<p>Her oldest son looked up from the picture he had been coloring and asked who had called.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Oh it was just a man trying to sell me a bill of goods.&rdquo;&nbsp; Faith tousled his hair.&nbsp; &ldquo;Help you brother and sister pick up and set the table please. &nbsp;We will have dinner and then we will light the Christmas tree and sing &ldquo;Happy Birthday&rdquo; to Jesus; cake and ice cream for everyone.&rdquo; &nbsp;Faith checked the chicken roasting in the oven.&nbsp; She&rsquo;d tell them the Christmas Story and they would go to bed, excited, anticipating Christmas morning and a very Merry Christmas.&nbsp; She hoped it would be.</p>
<p>Now five years later Faith was once again putting the finishing touches on the birthday cake for Jesus.&nbsp; There was a chicken roasting in the oven and her children, instead of coloring at the table were watching a Christmas special on TV.&nbsp; There were Christmas gifts hidden in the back of her closet.&nbsp; Her husband was wrapping gifts in their bedroom.&nbsp; She was looking forward to the best Christmas in a long, long time.&nbsp; It never ceased to amaze her what love and faith can do.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Thank you, Jesus,&rdquo; Faith whispered as she placed the candle in the center of the cake, &ldquo;for your mighty love and for the love that fills this home this night.&nbsp; Happy Birthday.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p>
<p>They were just sitting down to eat when the phone rang.&nbsp; Rod Jayson answered the phone.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Who was that,&rdquo; Faith asked when he came back to the table?</p>
<p>&ldquo;It was just a man trying to sell me a bill of goods.&nbsp; I wished him a Merry Christmas and hung up.&nbsp; Best lesson I ever learned and I hope he learns it too.&nbsp; I almost learned it too late.&nbsp; You know, about love and Christmas and what faith is all about.&rdquo;&nbsp; He winked at Faith.&nbsp; &ldquo;Merry Christmas,&rdquo; he said, smiling at his family.</p>
<p>The children just rolled their eyes and dug into the meal on their plates.&nbsp; Who could understand adults anyhow and they could hardly wait to light the tree and hear Mom read the Christmas Story and then sing, all those favorite Christmas songs with Dad and of course &ldquo;Happy Birthday&rdquo; to Jesus&hellip;And then there was the cake. &nbsp;</p></p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><p>It was almost 100 years ago that the now infamous Captain Scott and his team all died on what had proved to be a fruitless south polar expedition. After just over a century the final letter written during that ill-fated attempt has for the first time been uncovered.</p>
<p>Scott&#8217;s closest comrade Sir Edward Wilson had penned the moving message, revealing that the whole party had resigned themselves to their fate, as they approached that tragic and awful end.</p>

<p>&#8220;This looks like a finish to our undertaking,for we are out of food and oil and not able to move for three days now on account of the blizzard.&#8221; He wrote of their attempt to return from the South Pole to their base, this telling missive, sent to publisher Reginald Smith&nbsp; undiscovered since 1913.</p>
<p>An archivist recently chanced to inspect an old box full of documents, and was amazed to find it, this written message conveying the stoicism of Wilson right up to the end, as he told that &#8220;We have had a long struggle against intense cold on very short fuel, and it has done us in&#8221;.</p>
<p>This Terra Nova expedition story is highlighted in displays of member letters, diaries and photographs in a Cambridge University&rsquo;s Polar Museum exhibition, telling the full story, not just through famous journals and letters of the five &#8211; Scott, Bowers, Evans, Oates and Wilson &#8211; who died, but &nbsp;also ship&rsquo;s crew and shore party members.</p>

<p>Described as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, seeing these manuscripts exhibited together will prove a rare delight, perhaps offering a different story to those people are familiar with already, and featuring the rarely seen second journal of Henry Robertson &#8216;Birdie&#8217; Bowers who died alongside Scott.</p>
<p>It is not the journal of somebody who set out knowing they were going to die, though as the expedition progresses, his notes become much less detailed as he concentrates on survival, and&nbsp; includes a reference to first to die Edgar Evans.</p>
<p>Scott&rsquo;s own journal which includes the famous parting comment of Captain Oates that &#8220;I&rsquo;m just going outside and may be some time.&#8221; &nbsp;His words prompted Scott &nbsp;to say &#8220;We all hope to meet the end in a similar spirit, and assuredly the end is not far&#8221;.</p>

<p>Officially dubbed the British Antarctic Expedition 1910, they aimed to be the first to reach the geographical South Pole, but found on getting there</p>
<p>on January 17, 1912, that a Norwegian team led by Roald Amundsen had already done so 33 days before them.</p>
<p>The entire team died in March from a combination of exhaustion, starvation and extreme cold, as they tried vainly to get back. Captain Scott had previously led the Discovery Antarctic Expedition between 1901-1904. The exhibition is entitled These Rough Notes in honour of Scott&rsquo;s message to the public &#8211; written at the end of his journal just prior to his death on March 29 1912.</p>
<p>&#8220;Had we lived, I should have had a tale to tell of the hardihood, endurance, and courage of my companions which would have stirred the heart of every Englishman. These rough notes and our dead bodies must tell the tale, but surely, surely, a great rich country like ours will see that those who are dependent on us are properly provided for&#8221;.</p>
<p>&nbsp;His last letter to his wife, found next to the journal, begins with words &#8220;Dear widow&#8221;, and what could possibly be more poignant than that?</p>

Our outward appearance or our personalities are based upon our established beliefs, some of which have been inherited through our history. This history is made up of our childhood beliefs passed on through our families, who has been so instrumental in shaping what we practice today.&nbsp; The one reflection upon who we are today that need to be always fine-tuned is our confidence with who we are. We gather enormous courage and confidence if we are sure about the ongoing happiness we reflect each day. If however, we are unhappy or lack self-motivation or confidence, we can change that at anytime through the tweaking of &nbsp;our &nbsp;beliefs.&nbsp; With the right adjustments, we will see immediate results because of that &ldquo;genie in the bottle&rdquo; that is our mind.</p>
