A proper view.

The alpha of a pack , the leader of a troop, the president of a country, or the Shaman of a tribe, there has always been one who rose up to the poise of leadership. Taking charge or taking command with an initiative to provide an impact that will last for generations on end. Some say that leaders are born, others say they that are molded. A leader’s performance is measured by the people that follow them, how they inspire them and how they engage them.

As John C. Maxwell, author of numerous books puts it “A leader is one who knows the way, goes they way, and shows the way. “

If there was a time when we should be studying the principles of leadership, this would be our finest hour. The great need of the hour is constructive, dynamic, creative and effective leadership. The world is divided into leaders and followers. When viewed from a distance, leadership looks so easy. True leaders know only too well that their abilities were developed over and extended period of time.

A leader of tomorrow is a person with Vision. Dynamic leadership is always fired by vision. Vision is the key to understanding leadership. Without vision, one is merely playing games with their lives. Men and women who possess vision, will see further than others. Leaders have empires in their brains. The tragedy today is that we crush our ability to dream by demanding that we grow up to soon. A leader of tomorrow has never lost the childlike ability to dream, dreams. Its is so true that poor eyes will limit a mans sight; poor vision; his deeds. Viktor E. Frankl, author of the universally recognized book on psychology, Man’s Search for Meaning, a survivor of the Second World War concentration camp, and the founder of Logotheraphy has said in a speech in regards to his survival, “What kept me alive here were you, while other gave up hope. I dreamed. I dreamed that someday I would be here, telling you how I had survived the Nazi concentration camps, I’ve never been here before. But in my dreams, I have stood before you and said these words a thousand times.” Study great leaders, and you will find that they have been dreamers. Vision will create goals to be set, they become the motivating factors to continually drive you out of complacency. A leader is one who has the courage to dream, the ability to organize, and the strength to execute that action. A leader of tomorrow is simply the one who knows where he wants to go, gets up and goes.

A leader of tomorrow is a person who possesses executive ability, tact and diplomacy. A leader is a manager of people and their respective abilities. He is not necessarily an expert in any given task, but leaning more towards a jack of all trades with the ability to allocate people to a respective task that will maximize their potential. A leader knows where to organize and direct a person in where they would do most well. The leader is one who mobilizes others toward a goal shared by leaders and followers… Leaders, followers and goals make up the three equally necessary supports for leadership. In this day and age, every man is an accomplished person with a degree, diploma or a doctorate, everyone has the own mixture of strength and weaknesses. What is necessary for a leader of tomorrow is to be able to manage and organize these people into an efficient, functioning team. Leadership not only involves knowing where you are going but also how to effectively work with people.

A leader of tomorrow is a decision maker. We are the product of our own choices, the leader lives life on the attack. A house is built brick by brick, as our lives are built by our decisions. Each decision is composes a collective destiny. An effective leader of tomorrow will have to work at constantly making decisions simple. He or she should be able to clarify the issue, gather the facts, the risks involved, obtain proper council, the effects of those involved and able to be at peace will his or her own choices. A leader is a person of action, and to be that person, the art of decision making must be answered. Successful leaders have the courage to take actions where others hesitate. A leader’s decision is what is better for the organization or group and not for him or herself. As much as possible, the leader keeps his team involved in the decision making process, asks for ideas, input, thoughts before important actions are taken. People will carry out decisions that they have participated in making much more enthusiastically. Involvement leads to commitment. The right man is the one who seizes the moment. Will Rogers came up with a brilliant statement, “Even though you’re on the right track – you’ll get run over if you just sit there.

A leader of tomorrow exudes inspirational power. When Napoleon was retreating from Moscow, his army of 600,000 were either killed, captured, deserted or died of illness, leaving only 100000 remaining, still his men showed such loyalty for the Emperor that, even while he slept, they threw their own coats over him to keep him warm while they endured sub-zero temperatures. Leaders inspire, create commitment, act as role models and evoke the highest level of commitment and competence from their team. A leader has a sense of purpose, “Men fail through lack of purpose, rather than lack of talent. “- Bill Sunday. A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader; a great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves. Leaders are also the one who care for their team. In Russia, there is a proverb which says, when you meet a man, you judge him by his clothes, when you leave a man, you judge him by his heart. He is not too busy to help those around to succeed, a leader will give encouragement, show appreciation, constantly affirm, and remember to recognize.

A leader of tomorrow needs to be willing to unlearn. A leader of tomorrow will have to know that they may be behaviors and techniques that might have served them well in the past but may no longer be productive. We are entering a future of rapid change and demands. The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. Leadership is a behavior, not a process. To a leader who can unlearn and relearn, and continuously question it won’t matter who moved the cheese. The leader and his team can find it together.

A leader of tomorrow has future focus. The secret of leadership as I believe is the ability of a leader to continually focus on the future. This is what gives the leader a sense of destiny. They have discovered the purpose for their life and are giving themselves wholly to it. People will rally to a leader who has future focus because they have a sense of destiny. A leader who is living in the present will be constantly critical. A leader who is living with future focus will have positive attitude and they will be an attractiveness that people will admire and follow. The difference between doing and dabbling is focus. Expect to win.

The future is upon us and it promises to bring drastic, unforeseen alterations. Leaders committed to change, learning and excellence can create winners in a climate of change. The Chinese ideogram for crisis contains two characters meaning “danger” and “opportunity”. Without good leadership in our world, the future is filled with danger. With good leadership, I believe the future will be filled with the greatest opportunities that man has ever known.

The decision making ability will enable teacher to present and deliver his/her lesson effectively.

Teaching is a very conscious and alert activity where one has to deal with different individuals at the same time. Therefore, at time, it seems pleasant to deal with different group of learners but simultaneously with lots of difficulties and complexities arises for the facilitator as well while dealing with the diverse groups. That is why it is said that teaching is a spontaneous occupation because facilitator seldom takes or decides immediately to do some sort of actions either within or outside the classroom scenario.

Although it is very difficult to define and describe the characteristics of a good teaching, no doubt, number of characteristic and qualification required to become a good teacher. The foremost feature of a good teacher is the command on the content knowledge and pedagogical skills both with equal proposition. Only decision making ability will enable teacher to present and deliver his/her lesson effectively.

Why:

Decision-making is a careful step that helps teachers/facilitators to take selective action in the light of sense hypothesis. Its not healthier to pour out all information and content knowledge in student‘s mind without knowing their need and context realities. A teacher must have the understanding of the impact of his/her decision which s/he takes in the interest of the class that’s why teaching is recognized as reflective and thinking based journey, its not monotones way of delivering things. It assists the decision maker to take action with thorough reflections that how it will help children to learn and what would be the desired outcomes.

Field teachers often complain that they won’t be able to complete task on the given time due to the abrupt discussion or some new arising questions!!! My personal believe is that. It’s again an opportunity for facilitator to think that sometimes it is fine to proceed accordingly but being a diligent person, it good to be flexible in our plans and accommodates ourselves as per the need and desire of the time and context.

The major responsibility of a teacher/ facilitator is not just complete the syllabus but also make sure that learners could produce meaningful outcome. Besides their personalities also groomed with the understanding of attitude and applied skills because the aim of education is the holistic development of a child and all depend on the willingness of a facilitator/ teacher whose decision either MAKE or BREAK child’s life therefore decision plays a vital role in the children’s grooming.

How:

We often hear an old saying “I am because I am thinking”. An intelligent decision requires a lot of deep, critical and analytical thinking to expect deliberate optimistic outcomes. Therefore, it is necessary for an individual to challenge, analyze its own idea, see the alternatives, and choose the best one.

Dean Chesham said, “Let me give so much time to improvement of myself that I shall have not time to criticize other” Best Brains are those who always in the process of rethinking to construct a new beginning. I believe teachers have also the same path to produce some thing new but in the process of the production of something new, they face some hurdle and barrier and those hindrances often affect their performance therefore” to make a difference” one has to sacrifices and brings out changes in the lives of learners.

Impediments that affects effective decision

Some impediments are going to share which affects effective decision:

Teachers have lack of freedom to take action on the behalf of the class or all students.

Some influential parents do not allow teachers to depict any conclusion from their children.

Previous teacher’s decision has long-lasting repercussions and effects. Hence often new class teacher feel uncomfortable in the beginning to adjust with students.

Some experienced teachers have high expectations about the newly enrolled students which also create unhealthy atmosphere for children to fulfill their demands

Time factor is also one of the major obstacle, because teacher ‘s job is not only deliver the lesson, but s/he would have to see the other managerial and administration matters to run the class smoothly along with academic activity

Some times school policies don’t harmonize with teacher’s perceptions level to draw some conclusion.

Our School system has long hierarchy in the roles and responsibilities at different level therefore it become difficult that who will take decision and in what capacity or position for instance; Class teacher, Subject teachers, Head teacher etc.

If class room wouldn’t seem as conducive learning environment, then it will difficult for teacher to work with students mutual understanding and synergy

Some time our decisions don’t correlate with student’s previous learning and existing knowledge. Therefore, in the end, we find unpredicted result.

It should also consider that every child is unique and important in our class so we need to careful while making decision/s and its outcomes would help each child.

Often classroom seating raise issues for teacher that whether s/he have to instruct to the whole class or a particular group or else an individual.

If we have ever noticed that while watching T.V how much we can remember the number of the advertisements, in the same manner teacher encounters with several behaviors. Therefore, it is difficult to make any decision in the light of different experience because not all experiences are recording as a diverse way of learning.

Suggestions

Whatever have been shared in the light of general observation, it is difficult to find out the solution for all of the impediments because it varies from situation to situation. Smart teachers carefully handle the problem keeping in mind the diversity and sensitivity as well.

When the questions get tough, the tough gets the job.

You’ve looked through your resume for the nth time to make sure it’s presentable and have prepared an impressive portfolio. You’ve also taken pains to dress appropriately and have done extensive research on a company giving you a make-or-break interview. Nothing can go wrong at this meet-the-honchos session. Or can it? You may think you have everything covered – until you find yourself stumped when an interviewer decides to ask you questions you have difficulty answering. But many seemingly tough interview questions only sound challenging because you have not had the chance to think through them. If you could, wouldn’t it make things much easier? While there are no fool-proof means of knowing what a decision-maker may ask, there are certainly ways to reduce the possibility of failure and increase the chance of success, such as checking out these toughies first:

“Tell me about yourself”

Prepare a short statement in advance. When answering this question, make sure that it does not sound overly rehearsed. You could talk about projects you have managed and past vocations that relate to the post you are seeking.

“Why did you leave your last job?”

Give positive references and don’t put the blame on your ex-bosses, management or colleagues as it’ll only make you look bitter. Say instead that you left because you wanted to explore opportunities and take on new, more or different things and duties.

“Do you consider yourself successful?”

Saying yes doesn’t imply that you are a proud person. Justify your confident answer by backing it up with examples of how you have mostly achieved your goals, and are on track to attain others.

“What have you done to improve your knowledge in the last year?”

Talk about improvement activities that related to your previous job. You can mention an assortment of achievements, but zoom in on a few more pertinent ones.

“Why do you want to work for this organization?”

Answer with how you think your long-term, personal goals relate to the culture of the company and/or meet the expectations of the position you’re applying for. Be sincere in your delivery.

“Do you know anyone who works for us?”

Be careful to mention a friend only if you are sure he’s well though of in the company.

“What kind of salary do you need?”

Put the ball in your interviewer’s court and ask him instead for the range offered for this position. If he doesn’t budge, and you’re really not sure, say that you can’t give a precise figure as it depends on the job description to be agreed upon between both parties, which could be unique or customizable, depending on the needs of the company and how relevant your skills are to the post.

“Why should we hire you?”

Point out how you believe your strengths will meet the organization’s needs. Refrain from drawing comparisons with other candidates.

“If you were hiring a person for this job, what would you look for?”

Mention traits you possess that are required by the company for that position.

“Do you have any questions for me?”

Always prepare some questions, especially those that will suggest how you are able to contribute to the organization.
