Who is Noam Chomsky? Aside from the many labels he has had bestowed upon him, from political activist to the ‘worlds’ top intellectual’ and one of America’s greatest thinkers, he is by profession a professor of linguistics, a cognitive scientist, and a philosopher.

However, out of the many tags he has been given, it is likely he would probably prefer the term ‘anarchist’.

But this does not explain why even the very mention of his name is revered by some and despised by others.

Surely making a stand against US imperialism, being a bit of a lefty and criticizing US Foreign Policy are no longer noteworthy achievements, and by today’s standards, by no means unique.

So what separates Noam Chomsky from the rest?

On the outside he certainly fits all the stereotypes of a well-educated and learned professor, but beyond the cursory corduroy jacket, scruffy worn out shirts and understated glasses, what really lurks behind those watery yet penetrating eyes?

He may look and act like a softly spoken (some might say dull) and cuddly uncle, but make no mistake: with Chomsky, still waters really do run deep.

Avram Noam Chomsky was born in 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. By all accounts he was brought up a Jew by immigrant parents who hailed from Belarus and the Ukraine. Chomsky later went on to study philosophy, mathematics, and linguistics at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his PhD in linguistics.

Since then he has taught linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is now Professor Emeritus.

Chomsky’s greatest academic achievement has without a doubt been his contribution to linguistics. Chomsky broke new ground with his idea that children have an innate ability to learn a language and master grammar. His findings have had a profound impact on both linguistics and cognitive science.

But some might say that he really came into his own when he openly criticized US foreign policy during the Vietnam War with his book ‘American Power and the New Mandarins’ (1969). Since then, he has been pretty much unstoppable in his condemnation of American imperialism and foreign policy.

But Chomsky is different from other rebels, not because he has long been the person who says things that others don’t want to hear, but that he continues to do so.

He is what some might call the King of Unpalatable Truths. It would be foolish to think that those who are not American, or don’t agree with US policy, are immune to his criticism.

Anyone can get caught up in the Chomsky splatter gun effect; after all Chomsky likes to identify with those who he deems are struggling, whatever their ideology. A fervent advocate of freedom of speech, which has found him in some hot water with Holocaust deniers, he is not one to shy away from speaking out.

Chomsky appears to have a unique ability to remember what most of us don’t like to. He is a historian with a remarkable memory and fact-finding brain, and when it comes to US foreign policy he has a knack of intervening on US intervention.

One cannot fail to see the dichotomy.

But make no mistake; this guy was born ratty, with what would seem a penchant for getting riled about all things American and ‘corporate’.

Apart from the labels of anarchist and activist, perhaps one should be applying the other ‘A’ word: agitator.

Chomsky has certainly earned his detractors along the way. Accused of being a bit ‘dodgy’ with his sources, as well as being a devout anti-American, a Holocaust denier and an anti-Semite, he is not without his opponents.

The question is; is Chomsky the tortured, intellectual, loner genius, a peacemaker of the world, or a curmudgeonly old skeptic, a cunning linguist with axes to grind? Or is he a silver-haired cadaver, who deserves the sobriquet of ‘Nim Chimpsky’ after the chimp that was named after him?

Whatever your opinion, one has to recognize that it takes courage to remain a square peg in a round hole, even if it is a self-made one, and to be constantly labeled as a misfit.

Maybe Noam Chomsky is not a misfit, but the right fit.

While some of his opinions may seem extreme and anti-American to some, if philosophy is all about using rational inquiry to understand how the world works, then Chomsky is just applying his own dictum and trying to make sense of the mad world in which he finds himself.

Bob Miller was born in Florence, Alabama. He served as a pilot in Vietnam in 1968-69. He was shot down twice and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. He unsuccessfully challenged Richard Shelby for a seat in the U.S. Senate in 1992 and produced the television show, The Late Show (BLAB 2001). He has authored seven books.
This is the first chapter of a book I hope to finish. I know it still needs work, but only getting positive comments instead of criticism. Anyway, its a multi-genre story that has a fantasy type setting, but with many horror elements in it.

Demons, after being trapped in their own realm for so long, have once again, slipped back into Temporia, the world they had tried to, and nearly conquered over 200 years ago before the celestials pushed them back and sealed them away. Now they are back and the world of Temporia is suffering from elemental imbalances as well as beings and creatures simply called Myth are becoming aggressive towards each other and the Norms. Can the demons be stopped and pushed back before the celestials get involved once again?

She had heard a sound from her parent’s bedroom that had woken her up. Young Natasha got up out of bed and walked quietly out of her room, tiptoeing down the hall. She quickly stopped by her older brother’s room, who, at the time was thirteen. Before she could open the door to her brother’s room to get his attention, she heard her mother’s scream and her father yelling at someone. Natasha could not really make out the words.
At that moment her brother’s door swung open and he stood there, wide eyed and mouth open as if he wanted to say something, but no words would come out.
“Kyle?” Natasha said softly, trying to get her older brother’s attention.
He then looked down at her and pulled her into the room as the screaming in their parent’s room continued. “Tash, stay here and don’t go anywhere. I’m going to see what is going on.”
Tears began to swell up in Natasha’s eyes and she clung to her brother. “Don’t go!” she cried. “There might be a monster in there, eating Mommy and Daddy! I don’t want it to eat you too!” she pleaded, having a death grip on Kyle’s shirt.
“Tash, I will be right back. If I’m not, I want you to run to Uncle Leon’s for help, k?” Natasha fought back her tears and nodded. “That a girl! Now hide.” Natasha hid under her brother’s bed facing the door as he left and went to see what was going on.
Natasha thought all time stopped as the screaming and cries ceased after hearing her brother scream at the top of his lungs. She held her breath, waiting for the thing to come in to the room for her. After, what she guessed, was hours, though it was only a good twenty minutes, she crawled from under the bed and softly left her brother’s room. She had to pass her parent’s room to get outside and she only hoped that the thing was gone so she could escape.
As she made her way down the hall, she saw that her parent’s room door was slightly open. Being a bit curious, she stopped in front of the door and peered in. She gasps at the sight, her parents had been torn to pieces and she wasn’t sure who had been her father and who had been her mother. It was a sight that would be forever engraved in her memory. She still did not see any signs of Kyle.
She cracked the door open a bit more, both hoping and fearing to see what had been done to him. “Child, come to me,” a voice said from in the room. It sounded like the voice of an angel, but every hair on the back of Natasha’s neck stood up. She soon saw the being, and it held her brother in its arms. Blood was all over it. The monster was female in appearance, but little Natasha was not going to be fooled.
“No!” she yelled back, immune to the vampire’s siren’s song. She did fear for her brother’s life, but she also knew that he would want her to be safe over his own life.
“I will not hurt you. You’re parents deserved what they got for denying me what I want,” the vampire replied, trying to coach Natasha to her.
“Let my brother go!”
“I want him as well as you, Child. Come to me.” The vampire continued to try to lure Natasha to her.
Natasha was unsure how the vampire got her brother, but she guessed the vampire had used force. She backed up a bit, but tripped over something wet and slimy, falling backwards. Looking over, she came face to face with her mother’s bloodied head and screamed. The vampire laughed.
The vampire quickly went silent and looked out the window, seeing a mob of people coming up the path, let by a hunter that she knew all too well. She turned back to Natasha. “I’ll let the boy be my prize. You should consider yourself lucky, little brat, but just you wait.” The vampire then fled the room with Kyle in her arms, leaving Natasha in the middle of the massacre covered in blood and tears.

16 Years Later:
Screams could be heard through out the dark, musky forest as the parents of the vampire’s victim called out for their little girl. They had heard a loud thump from their six year old daughter’s room earlier that night. When they went to check on her, they found the vampire bending over the child, ready to feed from her. Its fangs just inches from her small throat. Upon seeing the parents, the vampire scooped up the sleeping child and jumped out of the window, and dashed into the forest.
The vampire was newly turned and was crazed with blood lust. Normally a fledgling vampire’s sire would not let a Newly Turned just simply run around unwatched; however, this Newly Turned seemed not to care about what it did, only thing on its mind was to get away from its pursuers and feed in peace.
Once the vampire figured it was safely away from the child’s parents, it set the girl down and looked around. Something else seemed wrong and out of place about the surrounding area, but the vampire could not figure it out. Figuring that it best hurry, feed, and get out of the area as soon as possible, it bent down towards the sleeping girl with its fangs bared. Just as it was about to pierce the girl’s skin, it heard a whistling sound, like something flying through the air. The vampire did not have time to look up or make a sound before its head came off its shoulders and fell to the ground with a soft thud, the surrounding moss absorbing most of the sound.
Its killer jumped down from a nearby tree just as the girl’s parents came into view. “Your daughter is safe,” the hunter said as the father picked up his daughter and held her close.
“Thank you so much!” the mother said in relief, seeing that her daughter was indeed safe.
“I am glad I was passing by.” The hunter’s figure was feminine. She wore a mask that covered most of her face. Her silver hair was back in a short pony tail. She cleaned off the weapon she used, a silver fan, and set to work cleaning up the area before the vampire managed to revive itself. Even as a young vampire, she knew that it would take just a few days before it was roaming the world again. Since it already broke the laws, she could not let it do that.
“Do you have a place to stay?” the mother asked as she watched the female hunter dispose of the vampire’s body by burning it; the hunter had cleared an area that would not cause a forest fire. For a while, the hunter did not respond, being too busy on her job to focus on anything else.
Once she was done, she turned to the young couple. “No, I never have time,” she responded.
“Would you like to stay the night with us? All we can offer you is a cozy bed and food,” the father added. His wife handed him her jacket, noticing that their daughter was shivering.
“That would be nice. Thank you.” She followed the couple back to their home.

It was a nice little place, with a beautiful flower garden in the front and a stream flowing on the side of the place. She stood in awe at it, noting the craftsmanship and landscaping. “That is beautiful,” she responded.

“Thank you. Come inside. I’ll get you something to eat.” The mother held the door open so that her husband can get their daughter in and waited for the hunter to come in before closing it and latching it shut. After securing the door, she went around and secured the rest of the house, not wanting another Underworld being to come in and attack any other member of her family.

While she was doing that, the father set his daughter down on a hand built forest green couch and turned to the hunter. “I’m Brad Williams,” he said, extending his hand to the hunter. He was about twenty-five year old, with long dark brown hair that he wore in a pony tail. His wife, the hunter noted, was a smaller woman compared to herself, with a petite figure and long red hair. The young child she just saved appeared to be no older than about five or six with a mop of light brown curls. She laid on the couch curled into a small little ball with her thumb in her mouth. “That is my wife, Tina, and our daughter Korrin.”
“Natasha Silvers,” the hunter replied, removing her mask and accepting his hand in a shake.
“It’s nice to meet you, Natasha,” Brad said as his wife walked up, said her thanks and greetings, and then went into the kitchen to get them all something to eat. Brad sat down on the couch next to his sleeping girl. Natasha took the seat next to a blazing fire. “So, are you a licensed hunter of the…”
“No,” she replied, cutting him off. “I work alone. Though I do hunt those that break the laws, I do it more to prevent more families from being torn than for the job. But I am also doing it, in hopes of finding clues to the location of my older brother that was turned five years ago.” She looked into the fire, remembering the events of the dreadful day she found out about her brother’s turning.

Natasha, when she was seventeen, was constantly training in the ways of magic and physical combat. After what happened to her years before, she had been taken in by a druid, whose mission was to hunt down and banish all evil from the world, but he was getting old she he took her under his wing in hopes to pass his knowledge onto her.
Though he could only teach her magic combat, he called in masters of other forms of combat to help him train and prepare her. She was a quick study; always staying a step or two in front of her instructors as she mastered magic, stealth, weapons combat, herbalism, and many forms of martial arts.
Once night, after finishing her days training, she stood out on a small island that sat in the middle of Lake Syne. The lake itself was not far from her home, so she came to it often at night simply to relax and look up at the stars, admiring the view. On the other side of the lake was a massive forest that was said to be overrun by beasts and monsters, but looking out upon it, it was hard to tell that such beauty could hold such ugliness.
She kneels down close to the water and looked at her reflection as the moon danced across the surface. She was hoping to see some of the rare fish that only appeared when the moon was out and shining on the water’s surface. As she leaned closer she did not see one of the fish, but a shadow from over head. Startled, she looked up and back, nearly falling into the water. What she saw was a tall man with blood all over his shirt and neck. His long black hair was matted with it as well.
She quickly stood up and pulled out twin daggers. She stood in a battle stance, waiting for this man to try to attack her. She knew that he had just been bitten, but where was the vampire that bit him? she wondered as she held the daggers close to her, but pointing outwards in case he should rush her. She kept her ears open, in case he was just a trap. He took a step forward, holding his left hand out.
“Please, I don’t mean you any harm. I am just trying to find someone. My little sister. I need to talk to her,” he stated as he slowly moved towards her.
“Why? Did your sire tell you to make this ‘little sister’ your first meal?” she challenged. At that, he stopped advancing and put his hand down.
“No, after I found out what she did to me, I knew I could not stay there anymore, so I fled. Please, I am looking for my sister, Natasha Silvers, do you know her?” he asked. Natasha’s eyes grew very wide in surprise that she nearly dropped the knives as well as her guard.
It did not take her long to recover and she threw one of the knives, just missing the man’s head. “How do you know that name? Who are you?” she demanded.
“I’m her older brother, Kyle. Judging from your reaction, you must have…” At that moment, Natasha broke out into tears. All these years she thought he was dead and now she finds him alive, well undead.
“Kyle, all these years…” she managed to get out before he knew that he stood before his sister.
“Natasha? Wow, you have gotten big? But there is something I really need for you to do for me, Tash,” he said holding onto her shoulders.
“What?” she asked, after getting herself together.
“I need for you to kill me.” He saw the shock in her eyes, but continued before she could reply. “I have been a slave to The Dark Lady, for twelve years now. I don’t know what she is called other than that. Last night she came into my chambers and turned me. I don’t know how much longer I have until I am completely turned. I then escaped when I saw her leave and came looking for you. I don’t know why it was so easy to escape her this night. But I just ask this one thing of you. Please kill me before I become a monster upon this earth.” He continued to plead with her, but Natasha was too overwhelmed with the fact that her brother had been alive all this time, a slave to the very thing that killed their parents years before.
“I’m sorry, Kyle. I can not do it,” she said, with her head down. She knew that she should, but she could not bring herself to do it, not when she was finally reunited with him after so long.
Kyle sighed and turned away. ”I understand, but I want you to continue your training and when you are ready, hunt me down. In the mean time, I will travel the world looking for a way to avenge our parents.” He then disappeared into the shadows and Natasha was alone in the darkness…

“Miss Silvers? Are you okay?” a voice called. Natasha blinked a few times and found herself back in the small cottage of the young couple whose daughter she rescued from a vampire. She looked over at her host, Brad, and noticed that he had a worried look on his face.
“Yes I am fine. Just old memories resurfacing,” she reassured him.
“Well, that’s good to know. Well I mean, not that the memories are good, but that you are okay,” he stuttered, trying to make it come out right. Just then Tina called them to dinner.

After the meal, Tina led Natasha to the guest’s room and bid her good night. The room was not very big, with a single window that was boarded up, a single person bed with a wool blanket and feather pillow. The hardwood floors felt cold to her feet as she removed her shoes. There was a dresser and other items on the other side, it seemed this family used this room for extra storage when it was not being slept in. Once she was alone, Natasha placed her pack on the bed, opened it, and pulled out a small orb. Instantly a face of a rather old man appeared within the orb. “Natasha?” the man asked as he squinted his eyes to try to see her better. She said nothing and simply nodded. “Ah, well, I am glad to see you. There is some thing very disturbing going on.”
“Other than the vampires?” she asked.
“Indeed, the forces of nature seem to be out of alignment and I would like for you to see what’s going on. I would do it myself, but I am not as young as I used to be, but I will assist you in any way I can.” The man in the orb was a highly respected druid and like all other druids he revered nature, often becoming involved in efforts to sustain a balanced ecology, as well as an animist, believing that everything in nature possesses a soul or spirit.
“Kegan, in what way is nature out of alignment? What do you mean?”
The druid was silent for a moment before continuing. “Some dark force is controlling the mythical creatures of the world and causing them to do things they normally would not do.”
“So you want me to hunt down this dark force before it is too late? How is this connected to my brother?” she asked, she normally only excepted missions that would bring her closer to finding either her brother or her brother’s sire.
“There may be a chance that your brother might want to use this to his advantage to over throw his sire,” Kegan stated. It was Natasha’s turn to stay silent for a bit.
“And if that happens, he could end up being an even bigger threat then he already is…”
“Exactly my point. Now, get some rest, you’ll need it.” Just then the orb went black and Natasha stuck it back into her pack, got prepared for bed and went to sleep.

Early the next morning the ill child’s parents knelled next to her as her fever continued to rise. They looked at each other worriedly, unsure what to do. All the local doctor’s could not seem to be able to help her and her parents were giving up hope. Her sickness seemed to get worse by the day and already they had to change her sheets three times because they would get soaked with sweat.
Just then the window to the room opened and the child’s parents were blinded by a bright light. When it dissipated, a white bird stood at the foot of the girl’s bed. The parents recognized it as being a Caladrius; a mythical bird that can predict if a sick person will live or die. There was hope yet. They held each others hand waiting for what the Caladrius was going to do.
The bird looked at the young couple and around the room, but never once did it look upon the young girl. It hopped down from the foot of the bed and onto the bed itself, eyeing the parents of the ill child the whole time. As it reached the torso area, the bird turned around, facing the window again and sat down on the girl.
The young couple gasped, for they knew that if a Caladrius turns away from an ill person, the person is doomed to die from the illness. They pleaded with the bird to turn and face their daughter, but the bird did not move, however it launched itself into the air and flew out the window, leaving the young couple to mourn for their daughter as she struggled to breathe.

The bird landed on a slender arm and cooed as the figure pet it. “Good job, my pet. I will now have another soul to add to my collection.” It grinned as it heard the cries of the child’s parents. “Not much longer now,” it added. The figure stood at the edge of the forest that the small cottage was near. There were no other houses for miles and the surrounding farm held many types of farm animals.
The figure looked up at the chimney for a moment, watching the smoke rise, knowing that soon there would be no detectable human life in that little cottage. It leaned against a nearby tree as it continued to watch the smoke rise, noting that it had the aroma of cooking chili.
Moments later it heard something coming at it through the air, looking that way, it say a dagger heading right towards it. Ducking, it managed to avoid the blow, only to be ensnared by a bolas; ‘a throwing made of weights on the ends of interconnected cords, designed to capture animals by entangling their legs.3’ As it fell, it call out to the caladrius, commanding it to protect it from its attacker.
The caladrius launched itself up into the trees where it knew its master’s attacker was hiding. It attacked with beak and claws, growing more monstrous with each strike until it was impossible to tell what it was, other than a monster bird.
The attacker knew it had to move quickly before its target could escape. Spraying the caladrius with some sleeping gas, it watched as it shrunk back to its normal size before placing it inside a cage and hung it on a nearby branch. Jumping down, the attacker landed just inches from the figure it had ensnared.

“Enslaving the creatures of Myth to do your dirty work, have you no shame?” Natasha asked the demon as its feminine exterior dissolved, leaving an ugly, skinless being with its head in its torso area and a large tongue type thing hanging where the head should have been. “And did you also know it was a crime to be that freak’n ugly!? Seems as though someone did not simply beat you with an ugly stick, you bathed in the Lake of Ugly to add to the effect.”
The demon looked up at her and laughed. “It doesn’t matter what you say, soon the soul of that child will be mine and I shall grow in power!” it gloated.
“Yah yah, uh huh! If you say so,” she taunted. She then jabbed the Saint’s Dagger into the demon’s right eye, which was just below its heart. Its screams tore through the forest. “Now, tell me, who else is trying to control those of the Myth? And give me a straight answer or it will be more than just your right eye that will feel the blades sting. Oh, and don’t think you are going to get that child’s soul, because…” she pulled out several throwing stars, turned just slightly and threw them at the cage that the caladrius was trapped in. The cage fell, releasing the bird, which flew into the window of the cottage and removed the illness from the child. “…the child is not going to be dieing any time soon and most defiantly not by your hands.”
The demon watched as the caladrius flew out of the child’s room, carrying the illness in its claws. “But…How? It was under my control! How did you break my spell?” the demon demanded as the bird flew off and the sounds of overjoyed parents filled the forest.
“Simple. I just simply woke it up. Now answer my question. Who is behind all of this? Who else is controlling the Myth creatures and beings? Tell me and I promise your death will be swift.”
The demon knew that this girl was dangerous, it also knew that it had to try to warn the others, but how? “The Valley of Twilight is where you want to do,” it advised.
“The Valley of Twilight is vampire territory. Are you saying that it’s the vampires that are behind this?”
“The vampires know nothing of the true value of the valley. It’s a huge inter-dimensional gateway from this world to the realm of demons. You might as well kill me now. You are not going to win. One puny human could not hope to stop the opening of the portal.” Just then the demon grabbed a hold of the dagger in Natasha’s hands and before she could react, plunged it into its heart. The demon soon dissolved and sinked into the ground, poisoning the surrounding area.
As fast as she could, Natasha healed the area before the poison found spread too far. Luckily it did not reach the small house. With this new information, Natasha set out again to try to gather more about this portal and of the ‘true’ nature of the Valley of Twilight.

News Article shows why I think Demons walk amongst us.

Normally I wouldn’t write an Article like this, as it is a very contreversial subject as to whether or not Demons actually exist. However, I ran across a news story today that made me re-affirm my beliefs the Demons really do exist and that they walk amongst us. Many of you at this point are probably wondering what could possibly make someone think like that. Others are just continuing to read out of curiosity and still others might be reading just because. I would like to make it clear before you read further, that this is not the same Demons you see in supernatural TV and movies. These were regular people who should have known better than to do what they did, and they honestly just didn’t care.

The News Article I read today was on yahoo news. Some of you have probably seen it, and others probably just passed it over not thinking anything of it. We live in a day and age where we have reason and understanding. No parent is perfect but we do try to do the best by our kids. I will highlight and paraphrase some of the things in the article then I will include the link at the end of this post.

In Attalla, Ala. 9-year-old Savannah Hardin died after being forced to run for three hours as punishment for having lied to her grandmother about eating candy bars according to Authorities. The official autopsy report released by the Sheriff’s department stated that the girl had very low sodium and was severly dehydrated. Witness’s say that they say the little Girl running but none of them saw her for more than a few minutes before going back to what they were doing. The grandmother and the mother who meated out the punishment are currently being held on a $500,000 bond each. They are facing murder charges. The local school has turned her desk into a memorial for the other students that knew her. They are also providing counselor and such for the children.

The above is just a brief over view of the Article which got me to write this. I think it’s extremely important that we are informed on what happened here, because unfortunately similar things happen all the time. Why do I believe it had to have been Demon’s instead of an error in Judgement? That one is quite easy for me to answer. Any educated human being, which almost all of them nowdays, knows that the human heart is unable to stand the pressure from running for 3 hours straight. It doesn’t matter if your an Adult or Child, your heart is not made to handle the pressure that would build up from that. I know that there are some people in the world who have worked their way to up being to do so after many years of running, but that came with a lot of conditioning and pain. Not something a child of 9 years old should be anywhere near to doing. It takes someone truly sadistic and evil to know that the child’s heart could explode and force them to do something like that anyway. If not a Demon, then what?

If you would like to read the full Article, you can do so here.

In depth look at Possession.

We think of possession as some evil, supernatural influence. This is why, in the modern world, it is ridiculed as non-existent, or simply the raving of the mad. But can a rational answer be given which can teach us a lot about ourselves?
I think it can. A good starting point is multiple personality. Here, the mind seems to fragment into a number of personalities, each taking it in turn to occupy the person. There are hundreds of documented cases.

They can be fascinating.

Many people seem to live their life quite naturally with such personality invasions, and each can seem a separate entity. But I’ve noticed, in many cases, a specific element within each personality.
They seem to reflect a specific emotion, or aspect, of the host. They can be specifically angry, sad, joyful, sexual, and many other traits. Indeed, it is as if it is not the mind that has split, but the specific emotions of the host.

This could have importance beyond the unexplained.
Consider, for instance, the serial killer. In many cases they seem to have separate personalities themselves. If married, a ‘normal’ personality can live a normal life, the wife even unaware of the truth.

The actual killer can be seen as anger in the raw. Once the murder has occurred, we often find a deep seated conscience which makes the killer carry out stupid errors, which eventually lead to capture, as if he wanted to be caught.

Could the serial killer be possessed?
Yet, not possessed by some supernatural influence, but a series of specific emotional fragments of his inner mind. It could be that there is a real ‘devil’ within.

Similarly, some people can appear absolute angels. Think of the monk, dedicating his life to service in God, totally subsuming all desires and emotions. Maybe it is not as difficult as it appears. The ‘monk’ personality simply sheds emotional baggage.

It can be seen in the evangelical movement.
In this case, they are filled with absolute joy, and nothing can touch them emotionally. Have they been touched by the ‘angelic’? Or have they simply discarded all other emotions?

We think of the mind as a coordinated whole. But the above suggests this need not be the case. Rather, the mind is a cauldron of conflicting emotions and traits, a particular fragment often rising within the ‘normal’ person.
Consider, for instance, sudden anger, where all other emotions disappear as you descend into a rage. Think, also, of the moments of pure, ecstatic joy, where nothing negative can touch you.
Are these moments of mild possession, when an emotional fragment escapes the confines of normality? If so, then the full blown possession is simply a matter of degrees. We all have the capacity to become devil or saint.

Can a person be possessed by the devil or demons?

Occasionally, paranormal literature throws up a case so incredible that we either dismiss it as fantasy, or edge towards the idea that demons and possessions are a reality. The facts are just so fantastic, rational inquiry is often forgotten.
But are we right to either dismiss or accept? Or is it possible that rational explanations can be placed upon the subject within an overall cultural explanation of phenomena? I opt for this middle ground.

ANNA ECKLUND
Consider the case of Anna Ecklund, born into a religious family from the American Midwest about 1882.
Believed to have been abused by her father, at fourteen, she showed signs of possession involving acute sexual fantasies. A monk from Wisconsin was called in, who exorcised her in 1912, claiming she was possessed by the Devil.

Failing, she reverted, being possessed until age forty six. Eventually being taken in once more by monks, she threw a fit and for over three weeks swayed between unconsciousness and erotic behaviour, including copious vomiting, levitating and speaking in strange voices.
Eventually her body went rigid and the possession was over.

ROBBIE MANNHEIM
Robbie Mannheim – the believed influence behind The Exorcist – was similar. Just before an aunt died, she and Robbie tried to contact spirits on a Ouija board. After her death, his behaviour changed, the boy swearing incessantly.

Strange disturbances then began in the house, and cuts appeared on his body. His parents called in a priest who said he was possessed. Exorcisms were attempted, but each time Robbie got worse, attacking one priest with a bedspring, resulting in a hundred stitches.
On Easter Monday 1949, Robbie woke up and his demon was gone.

THEORIES ON ENTITIES
The idea that entities can possess the person was accepted as fact through most of human history. In 1917 teacher Max Freedom Long began a study of the Huna of Hawaii.

His work confirmed the belief. The Huna believe that, rather than being an individual, man has three separate selves; the low, middle and high self. Long identified these as the unconscious, conscious and superconscious mind, the latter being the region of possession.
Canadian psychiatrist Dr Adam Crabtree would see it differently. During therapy he would create entities. Typical was depressive Sarah Worthington. During therapy Crabtree asked if she ever heard voices. Saying she had, he asked her to recall them.
Her persona then changed, becoming confident and she had a different voice. Crabtree asked who this possession was. It turned out to be her grandmother, who seemed to have problems of her own.
Using this form of psychodrama, Crabtree treated Sarah by psychoanalyzing her grandmother.

MIDDLE GROUND
In the above we have two separate and distinct ideas upon possession. In the former, we see the possibility of the human mind having higher levels of consciousness, whilst in the latter, we see the possibility of entities being ‘split-off’ aspects of mind.

This aspect is seen in the phenomenon of multiple personality, where the mind can seem to fragment into a number of different ‘personalities’, taking it in turn to inhabit the host.
Could an amalgamation of multiple personality and the possibility of higher consciousness be merged to produce a credible theory of possessions such as Ecklund and Mannheim?

EMOTIONAL INFECTION
One well accepted theory of multiple personality is that it does not exist, as such. Rather, we have a chaotic mind coming upon a therapist, or idea, that it exists. Hence, a form of role-play comes into being, the patient playing to the therapist.

In this way, a form of transference has occurred, with the therapist validating something that comes into being purely because of his validation. But what, exactly, is involved in such role-play? What part of the mind does the therapist’s bidding?
It is interesting that each personality displayed seems to exhibit a particular emotion of the host. Hence, could it be that, in multiple personality, the role-play revolves around specific emotional traits within the mind?

COMMUNAL CONSCIOUSNESS
Emotions tend to be chaotic things. But more than this, whilst an emotion may be expressed for a variety of ‘personal’ reasons, the actual nature of various ‘emotions’ seem to be identical in all people. Hence, could emotions be of the ‘species’ rather than the person?

If so, then we can see a ‘communal’ element of mind being tapped in multiple personality, suggesting that its similarity to possession is greater than we think, with an actual ‘outside’ entity being manifested.
Carl Jung gave us a similar concept in his ‘collective unconscious’ – a mind below the ‘personal’ with ‘communal’ traits. And these traits included ‘archetypes’, or shared personality types such as the Child, Sage, Trickster and Hero. Could we therefore argue that, in multiple personality/possession, we are dealing with an archetype as entity?

A SUGGESTIVE CULTURE
Jung’s archetypes also include all manner of symbols, and together with the personality archetypes, we can see the collective unconscious expressed in mythology and society. It is almost as if ‘culture’ itself is an expression of this communal aspect of mind, but within the world we experience.

Culture can, of course, come in many forms. An on-going culture can be built-up over millennia, as the ideas and communal symbols are passed down from generation to generation.
Such a cultural form can be suggestive in the extreme. After all, if it is an outside expression of the inner mind, it would be, as one would be in sympathy with the other. And possibly so, too, with the ‘archetypes’ that transcend both.

THE DEMON LET LOOSE
If we return to the above cases we can ask what would be the reaction, in terms of culture, of a suggestive, possibly disturbed person being told that they were being possessed?

Bearing in mind the cultural legacy inherent in the suggestion, combined with the authority of the priests who are enforcing the concept, can we imagine this person being very good and, as in the role-play involved in multiple personality, exhibiting the behaviour expected of him?
And as the cultural expression increases, reinforcing the displayed entity’s existence, we can imagine an emotional archetype out of control, and a ‘possession’ in existence that is ‘communal’, in that it is ‘other’ than the personal mind.
And as its ferocity increases, and the patient is further reinforced towards ‘possessed’ behaviour, we can also imagine the priests being similarly infected by the role-play suggested by the possession. And in such a cultural feed-back loop, the exorcists see what they think they’ll see.

Lisa got sloshed off of wine on her first appearance on America's Next Top Model years ago. Everyone was on this girl's back. She seemed to be the odd-one-out and did get eliminated. For what it's worth, I thought she was undeserving of the girl's criticism and I'm so glad she's justified now.....

America’s Next Top Model All-Stars featured one of my favorites: Lisa D’Amato loves to jump, she loves to sing, she loves to dance and she tackled all of the challenges brought to her on America’s Next Top Model All-Stars and whereas people are criticising her looks, I wonder: what in heavens is wrong with people. Lisa is 31, still young and to me, quite a stunning, mad-cap girl.

But her upbeat and resilient spirit isn’t just surface. Comes to find out that Lisa has a few demons….no quite a few. She has had to go deep to keep her upbeat demeanor and focus. This is one focused girl too. This young woman was physically and sexually abused as a younger person. On her season I didn’t know that. But if anyone has watched this Season of the All-Stars and watched her with an unbiased opinion (in short not having such a fanatical desire for someone else to win) you may have witnessed a girl that was very confident in her challenges, took directions quite well, tried her best and pulled from a very talented area. In real life she is actually a Singer/Entertainer so she has some things going for her already.

Lisa wanted to win, you could tell. But more than that, it seemed that she wanted to leave a good impression, probably far better than the slightly mixed up one she left in her own Season. I remember her in a scene in the pool where she had had too much wine and the girls ratting and talking about her so badly. She spent a lot of time alone. She was the type of girl that the rest just chose to pick on and she stood out for that. I had a sympathy for her, but more I felt that she deserved a second chance. I had no idea that America’s Next Top Model would do an All-Star so seeing her participate because of her memorable appearance before, made me happy for her. You talk about a whole 360 degree turn around? She was completely different and she just shined right through her competitors.

Now maybe 31 is considered ‘older’ to the very young but to me, she is very young. I remember being 31 and looking at my pictures from that era, I looked quite young. So does Lisa but Angelea, the girl that is rumored to have been the actual winner until she let things leak out, could be considered just a little ‘fresher’ looking to some but not particularly for me. The world is opening up, people are living longer and Models don’t have to be 18 or 19 to make a splash. The win for Lisa can only up the stakes in her career. She’s just that good and deserving.

I am glad for her, after all, I did prefer her, Allison, Dominique, Brie, Alexandra and Laura over most of the others. I must say I am getting good at this. I should be on the panel because actually, I have picked quite a few winners. When I feel sick and don’t like them but know that they will win, I’m right. When I root really hard and watch their actions, they usually win. I need a job….maybe I’ll be the ‘Predictor for ANTM” the next show. After all there are a lot on YouTube and sorry, they are usually wrong!

This is a book review.

People have belief in demon possession and curses for many years. The Catholics have always been involved in routing out the demons.

This book shows that all our answers that we look for can be found in the Bible. It also shows that curses and demons can affect all areas of your life.

Prayers That Rout Demons And Break Curses is broken up into two books. The first part or first book is about getting out the demons that enter our daily lives.

The second helps identify the curses that have been set on our lives and prayers to use against them. You will also learn the different kinds of spirits and demons that are in charge of tempting us to do evil things.

I think that this is a good book for Christians to own and read. It could help with dealing with your own personal demons.

Christianity and Atheism. These two have been at each other's throats for centuries. From the lowest levels of society right up to the highest circles of the elite; people have been sparring intellectually around these two different world views and will continue to do so until the end of time. Or will they?

I would like to present a plausible theory about how this struggle between the two will be ended. Christians will tell you the answer is the second coming of Christ. Atheists will have you believe that only the cold embrace of death will relieve believers of their “delusions”. I think neither reason is going to be the end of this debate. Christians sometimes forget and atheists deny that there is another power working behind the curtain to bring great change. This change, I believe, is going to be the end to the age old debate of Christianity versus atheism; or put differently, belief versus non-belief.

The power that I speak of is known to Christians, although many believers are moving in the direction of believing that Satan and his demons are nothing more than a myth to frighten people. This is where I will probably lose those of atheistic or different religious beliefs. I don’t expect you to read something you don’t want to, but I can promise you that what I have to say is not conjured out of thin air. Whether you believe that there is a great evil behind major world events or not, any rational and observant person will realise that the world is changing very quickly and that this change is seldom one for the better.

I am not going to give a complete breakdown of the concepts of secret societies, nor am I going to go on at length about that “tin-foil hat” subject of the new world order. If you’re willing to work with an open mind and let the facts speak for themselves, then you will be surprised what you will discover about these topics. My focus will be on one deceased individual that contributed a great deal to the changing world situation we see today. His name is Albert Pike. I won’t go into a long description of who he was and what he did in this article. I wish to focus on a specific letter that he wrote in the 1870’s to an Italian Revolutionary leader by the name of Giuseppe Mazzini. This letter detailed a plan to instigate three world wars. Keep in mind that this letter was written at least 40 years before the first world war. I will give the relevant excerpts of the letter below:

“The First World War must be brought about in order to permit the Illuminati to overthrow the power of the Czars in Russia and of making that country a fortress of atheistic Communism. The divergences caused by the “agentur” (agents) of the Illuminati between the British and Germanic Empires will be used to foment this war. At the end of the war, Communism will be built and used in order to destroy the other governments and in order to weaken the religions”

Any student of history will be able to recognise these described conditions that clearly indicate the rise of the Communist Soviet Union, as well as the framework for the war on the western front.

“The Second World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences between the Fascists and the political Zionists. This war must be brought about so that Nazism is destroyed and that the political Zionism be strong enough to institute a sovereign state of Israel in Palestine. During the Second World War, International Communism must become strong enough in order to balance Christendom, which would be then restrained and held in check until the time when we would need it for the final social cataclysm.”

Once again you can see from the above the clear references to the conditions leading up to the Second World War. The establishment of the state of Israel is described and also the further strengthening of communism (Cold War?). This also strongly suggests the rise of atheism, since communism is a pro-atheistic system.

Below is the extract that this article is based on. Please read it carefully and consider what it is saying and try to relate it to what is happening in the world right now.

“The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the “agentur” of the “Illuminati” between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Muslim Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion…We shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time.”

“The war must conducted in such a way that Islam and political Zionism mutually destroy each other” To me this perfectly describes what is happening in the Middle East at this very moment. You may have heard of possible war between Iran and Israel. The real crux of the matter is contained in the last couple of sentences. If we are to take this letter seriously, then it would seem that Christianity is in for one hell of a ride. Atheism, being used as a tool for Christianity’s destruction, won’t escape annihilation either. What is even worse is that it seems that a Satanic world religion will emerge from the ashes of the war between Christianity and Atheism.

At this point you have either written me off as a complete lunatic conspiracy theorist, or you have started to think about what is presented above. If you are unsure what to make of the above, then I wish to present the following question to you. How can a letter written at least forty years before the first event described (i.e. world war one) manage to predict it with such accuracy?. The only logical conclusion is that the writer of this letter (Albert Pike) had some foreknowledge of these events.

In conclusion, what does this letter mean to any of us in the 21st century? Well, it would seem that Christianity and atheism are both going to be targeted for destruction. I can’t force anyone to believe what I believe. I am simply interested in the truth. For me the truth is that there will be great oppression (as evidenced by this letter) before the end comes. As a Messianic believer I believe that this has been prophesied in Scripture long ago. So it may seem a dark situation, but I have hope for the better future promised beyond that.

In this article are two mythical creatures for your Halloween treat.

Tales on supernatural are passed from one generation to another and refuse to vanish despite advancement of knowledge and science. The reason is that people love to hear stories that are unusual or extraordinary. Some fairy tales and fantasies are even considered as stories that are appropriate for children. Like other people of the world the Filipinos too have folklores that border on superstition.

Below are two of the numerous supernatural creatures that are ingrained in the Philippine myths:

Manananggal- (flying vampire) is a malevolent witch. Although she might look attractive and tender in person, she would prefer to live in a desolate place to hide her being a witch. She is said to be endowed with the power of evil. During a night with a full moon, her witchery acts up. Applying self prepared oil or casting spells, she turns herself into a monster. She splits her torso into two. Her appearance then totally changes. Two sharp fangs come up along with two bat-like wings. She has bloodshot eyes and long disheveled hair. She would have to leave her lower body behind when her upper body is away. She is usually attracted with the scent of a pregnant woman. That smell is very pleasant to her. Her delicate sense of smell guides her to the house of her victim. In a rural setting she lands on a thatched roof undetected and she is capable to let his proboscis like tongue through a small opening and stretch it down toward the abdomen of a pregnant woman. Her tongue could penetrate the abdomen and suck the blood of the unborn fetus. Meanwhile the left behind standing lower body is very vulnerable while the upper body is away doing its activity. An ordinary person could neutralize a manananggal by sprinkling salt or ash on top of the standing lower body. He could also put garlic on it. A manananggal subjected to that situation could no longer attach her split torso and the break of dawn would eventually catch up with her. The ray of the rising sun would be fatal to the manananggal so that it would kill her in the end.

Tiyanak- (demon child) some accounts say that it is the spirit of unborn child whose mother died before birth. Others have it that it is the spirit of a child who died before its baptism. Still others say it is the spirit of unborn fetus who would like to seek revenge for being deprived of its right to live in this world. Generally, the tiyanaks are regarded as demon spirits who enter the body of a dead fetus or an unborn child. The tiyanak may dwell in the forest and may act mischievously by disorienting its victim so that the latter may not find his way out of the forest. A person could avoid the supernatural creature’s prank by wearing his clothes inside out. The tiyanak who see a person in that attire would be amused so that he would let that person be. The tiyanak could be very malevolent when it mimics a baby. In a desolate place it could cry like a baby. An unsuspecting person would follow the source of the sound to look for the child. He may even find the baby and hold it. Then all of a sudden, the child completely change its appearance into a small ugly monster to the horror of that unfortunate person. Other mischievous act of the tiyanak includes kidnapping a baby. One could contain the power of the tiyanak by bringin a garlic or a rosary.

Could it be lack of understanding, that caused people who were different to be killed for being witches?

200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft in Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693, 20 of these people were killed for this. This wasn`t just in the states between the 1300`s and the 1600`s hundreds of thousands of people were accused of witchcraft in Europe and killed. Most of these were women but men were also found guilty of witchcraft too.

Could it be that one reason many of these people were accused of this was lack of understanding? People who suffered from epilepsy were belived by many to be possessed by the devil, simply because of how they appeared whilst fitting. And then branded witches due to their fits being seen as demon possession. This is so sad that people who were seen as different or had special needs were seen as evil and killed because of being different.

Really makes you think how awfull it must of been in those days, to be killed for being something that simply does not exsist! and people actually believed that these people cou
