The proper name for the Islamic center that is proposed for location near Ground Zero is Park 51. It is not a mosque or just a place for Muslims - in fact, it is an interfaith center cultural, spiritual, and community center.

It’s Interfaith, not Islamic

You’ve heard the controversy over a mosque being built at Ground Zero. Well, that’s not exactly true. It is not a mosque, the building will serve as a center for culture and community regardless of ethnicity and/or religious preferences. An Islamic pray space is in the design plans along with a monument dedicated to the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

Futuristic – Geometric – Star of David Design Plans

The Facts

* Park51 plans to offer modern recreational and educational facilities that meet the “green” definition.

* The Park51 Project is independent of the ASMA (the American Society for Muslim Advancement).

* Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf – head of the Cordoba Initiative – is the Project Manager for Park51.

* The prayer space for Muslims is not referred to as a Mosque and this section will supposedly be managed separately from the rest of the building.

* Jummah (Islamic Friday prayer) is held every Friday at 1:00PM in the prayer space.

* The hexagrams seen in the design plans are a powerful symbol for Christianity, Islam, & Judaism.

* Park51 can be found on Twitter and Facebook.

These are not fictional aircraft vehicles. These are real - they really existed and still in existence.

Aircrafts like planes, jetfighters and helicopters are the usual flying objects we see almost every day. Most of the flying objects on this article are VTOL – Vertical Take Off and Landing aircrafts.

1. Boeing X-50 Dragonfly

The peculiar-looking Boeing X-50 Dragonfly is an AUV – unmanned aerial vehicle developed jointly by Boeing and DARPA for purposes of demonstrating the principle that a helicopter’s rotor could be stopped in flight and act as a fixed wing. In 2006, the project was dropped due to inherent design flaws. All attempts to test flight the different prototypes that were developed failed.

The aircraft is 5.39 meters in length with a wingspan of 2.71 meters. It can attain a speed of 700 km/h with a maximum payload of 91 kg.

2.Sikorsky Cypher

The uniquely-designed Sikorsky Cypher is a type of UAV – unmanned aerial vessel built by Sikorsky Aircraft in the late 1980s. A second prototype is named Cypher II. For propulsion, these VTOL used two opposing rotors enclosed in a circular shroud. The first prototype first flew successfully in 1992. This vessel can transport loads weighing up to 23 kg.

The Sikorsky Cypher is 1.88 meters long with a rotor diameter of 1.22 meters. It can attain a speed of 52 knots or 97 km/h and can stay in flight for 2-3 hours.

3. British Rolls-Royce Thrust Measuring Rig – The First Flying Bedstead

The first Flying Bedstead was an experimental VTOL aircraft raised on four legs that resembled a bedstead. It was first flown successfully in 1953 at Nottinghamshire, England. This aircraft was developed to research the use of direct lift through the use of engine power alone, along with the associated methods of controlling the aircraft, with a view to use in further VTOL aircraft.

4. Hiller X-18

The X-18 which was designed and developed by Hiller Aircraft Corporation was an experimental cargo transport aircraft designed to be the first test bed for tiltwing and VSTOL or Vertical/Short Takeoff and Landing) technology. This vessel which is operated by 3 crews is 19.2 meters long with 14.6 meter wingspan. It has a maximum speed of 407 km/h.

5. Armadillo Aerospace Quad

This machine simply looks amazing. It is called the Armadillo Aerospace Quad vehicle, a computer controlled VTOL rocket. It is used to compete in the Lunar Lander Challenge. Its main engine has two-axis thrust vectoring and the vehicle is fully computer controlled; with guidance from GPS and fiber optic gyros. This aircraft is 75 in wide and 75 in tall with a dry weight of 650 pounds.

6. Vertol VZ-2

The unique-looking research aircraft named Vertol VZ-2 or Model 76 was built in the United States in 1957. The purpose of its creation is to investigate the tiltwing approach to VTOL. The aircraft had a fuselage of tubular framework and accommodation for its pilot in a helicopter-like bubble canopy. Ground test for the vehicle started in 1957 and in 1958, it the aircraft made its first full transition from vertical flight to horizontal flight. Since then up to 1965, it made 450 flights.

VZ-2 is 8.05 meters in length with a wingspan of 7.59 meters and has a maximum speed of 340 km/h.

7. Bell Eagle Eye
