An article about a fellow teacher who died unexpectedly this week.

You died yesterday. You were my age. You were also an American teaching in Moscow, Russia. I hung out with you a few times, didn’t know you that well, but I am shocked and saddened by your passing in an unexpected and acutely mortal way. Sure, people have died in my life. My father died of cancer when I was 14. Both grandparents died. My uncle… but all these people seemed lengths apart from me in age and experience. They lived through their youth. You – you were just beginning. Plenty of time left- for both of us…

I remember the first time I met you was at teacher orientation. You came in with your perfectly done makeup and your big eyes and great style. You rocked YOU. We met numerous times after that but the most memorable for me was a Birthday party/ Halloween Party in which you saved the day. Two People with no costumes? No worries! You did makeup expertly to make them look like they had bruises. I don’t know where you learned to do this. I didn’t ask. I should have. It was brilliantly done. I didn’t tell you this at the time. I should have.

As for you- You were stunning. You took an outfit anyone would wear on a normal day and with makeup and accessories made it look like a perfectly planned Mime’s attire. Your red lipstick wowed. You sang Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” and did makeup happily chatting about the bad choice in music. You were always smiling. You make me realize that I need to get a handle on ME. In your words, “To live. To love. To laugh.” And even though I barely knew you, you’ve changed my life. This is dedicated to Crystal Veytia.

If life is it anyway? by Brian Clark, whose life is it anyway? Is a play about a sculptor Ken Harrison, who was paralyzed in a car accident and his struggle for the right to die.

If life is it anyway? by Brian Clark, whose life is it anyway? Is a play about a sculptor Ken Harrison, who was paralyzed in a car accident and his struggle for the right to die. Although humor is put to good use in the game, there is a deeper meaning behind it. SYNOPSIS: Ken Harrison was paralyzed in a car accident and was physically stabilized. His mood is evident. After realizing the implications of this asset has been decided that for him life is worth living anymore. To learn the skills they need later in life to Ms. Boyle, a medical social worker, is sent. They make you think about disability in a more optimistic view, but to achieve the opposite, and Ken is very angry. After considering all the possibilities you have in your future life that is more convinced than ever that does not live like this. Dr. Scott, a young physician, and Dr. Emerson had several experiences with patients like Mr. Harrison in his career, and I think he also suffers from clinical depression. That’s why they treat him with a sedative. Mr. Harrison is not happy with this treatment because he feels that he withdraws from only part of your body is still able to use your brain. Ken knows that doctors try to convince you in any way to stay alive, and if the orders to call her sister Philip Hill, a lawyer. The next morning, Phillip Hill has come for a visit to discuss insurance claims. Ken explains his situation was discussed calmly and now wants to be discharged from the hospital, because outside it will not be able to live more than a week. Mr. Hill, you need to represent you in a legal case. We must examine all legal issues involved in this case. The lawyer wants to talk to Dr. Emerson first and wait for a response before deciding whether to help or not Ken. The doctor responds strongly, and it is absolutely against the release of Mr. Harrison. But Mr. Hill, he realizes that Harrison means that very seriously and found a clear mind and conscience, he decided to help and represent you.

He is convinced Ken to help them out of the hospital. Mr. Emerson and Mr. Hill agreed that the psychiatrist from another hospital receives a new meaning, as Mr. Harrison is said to be able to make a sensible decision. Then, two lawyers, one of Ken and one for the hospital, and a judge is required to consider all the facts and determine whether Mr. Harrison is in a state of clear mind. Ken is heard by the judge and try to convince them that it is in a large mental health. After Ken’s proven to be mentally balanced, the judge decided Mr Mill House that Ken is allowed to be discharged. After losing the trial, Dr. Ken Emerson still want to die with humanity. This means that he wants to die surrounded by doctors who can take care of the time of death at least will not be painful and proposes to take a room at the hospital. Key issues: Euthanasia: the rhetorical question in the title, saying “if life is it anyway?”Brian Clark said the main theme of the book from the very beginning. Euthanasia is a very serious problem in this book. Mr. Harrison would not live longer. This desire has offered several times, but people around you do not want to die, because they believe that their mental state is not clear. Throughout the book we learn that he is in a large mental health, so I think he has the right to decide to die or not. In my opinion people have the right to make decisions about their bodies, including decisions about when and how to die. Dignity Mr. Harrison has stated repeatedly that he wants to die with dignity. Two

Is euthanasia as morally unethical as allowing one to suffer?

A few days ago I was sitting at the kitchen table with my daughter when I got a tickle in my nose and sneezed. Due to having a spine that resembles a snake in water that single sneeze caused me to pinch a nerve in my lower back and left me unable to walk for a few days. I told my husband that if I were a horse they’d put me down. A lame horse is almost always humanely euthanized due to the importance of a horses need to be able to walk and support its weight. It’s considered to be the morally right thing to do.

However, there are measures that can be taken to keep a horse on its feet without causing it pain. Veterinarians often utilize a body sling to support the weight of a horse if it has an injury that disables them. Just like humans, horses too have access to pain medications to eliminate pain through healing. If these actions can be taken to keep an animal alive without suffering, why are so many horses still being euthanized?

It’s a matter of quality of life. A lame horse, although able to live without pain will never be able to walk, run, graze or leave the shelter of a barn where their body harness is set up. So when you think of an existence locked away in solitary confinement for most hours of the day euthanasia begins to make sense again.

With humans, that isn’t so. Regardless of amount of pain and suffering and quality of life or lack there of it is wrong for a human to end their life prematurely. Why? We euthanize animals that are sick, injured, elderly, or simply because they aren’t “suitable” for adoption. Yet, a human can experience excruciating pain day in and day out sometimes for years before they die and putting an end to their suffering is wrong.

I strongly advocate assisted suicide for the terminally ill. Once you get to the point that living is more painful than dying you have to realize that one can and should be able to choose their own method for death. I believe it should be a choice just like any other. We all get to decide how we want to live, why can’t we decide how we want to die as well?

SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - A 12-year-old girl who was shot by her mother during a standoff inside a Texas food stamp office died of her wounds late Wednesday night, officials said Thursday.

By Jim Forsyth

Ramie Grimmer had posted a Facebook message on Monday “may die 2today” after her mother, Rachelle Grimmer, 38, took a supervisor hostage in the Texas Department of Human Services office in the Rio Grande city of Laredo in a dispute over her denial of food stamp benefits.

Rachelle Grimmer released the supervisor, but after a seven hour standoff, police say she shot Ramie and her ten-year-old son Timothy Grimmer, and then killed herself.

Timothy remains in very critical condition in a San Antonio hospital, according to Mary Walker, spokeswoman for Child Protective Services.

State and local officials said Rachelle Grimmer was a troubled woman wandering with her children from residence to residence after moving to Texas from Zanesville Ohio in March.

At one point, the three lived in a tent on the beach near Corpus Christi. Neighbors in Laredo said the children were often seen begging for food while living in a crumbling recreational vehicle which didn’t have a place to cook food.

Officials said Texas Child Protective Services had been asked to look into the status of the children while they were living on the beach, but determined there were no signs of abuse or neglect and closed the case.

Laredo police said the Grimmers lived in at least four different places during their brief time in the city.

Officials are trying to determine how a family with such obvious need was able to fall through the cracks of society’s safety net, said Stephanie Goodman, spokeswoman for the Department of Human Services.

“Is there anything we could have done differently?” she asked. “Maybe we need to do a better job of public awareness, of doing a better job communicating. Don’t just assume that everybody knows how desperate your situation is.”

She said Grimmer first applied for food stamp benefits in July, but state officials were unable to reach her, and the case was eventually closed for lack of enough information. Goodman said to her knowledge, the Grimmers never received any benefits from the state, despite their precarious situation.

Private charities in the Laredo area said the Grimmers never requested assistance, even though there are a number of religious and civic aid organizations in the border city of 236,000, which is among the poorest in the nation.

Walker said the surviving child, Timothy, will remain in the hospital for some time, and then is expected to be released into the care of relatives. She does not anticipate the state taking custody of the child.

431 coins? Yes. This man is swallowed before it was killed.

Chharrisgarh, India, Kamleshwar Singh, an Indian farmer from the state of Chharrisgarh initially complained of abdominal pain. But the pain in his stomach that were increasingly worse, so his wife took this poor guy to the hospital for tests. This man has a belly like a piggy bank, because it contains 431 pieces of metal and bolts weighing 6 kg. Unfortunately when the metals were removed, stomach infections and life are already beyond help.

Image via Wikipedia

The results of X-ray scanning at Shreesti Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre showed a surprising result. Singh in the stomach, doctors found three pieces of keys, 431 coins, 196 metal plate and 17 screws from the metal. Through abdominal surgery, a team of doctors led by Dr. Yadav managed to remove the metals. But unfortunately, her stomach has experienced injury or chronic ulceration that his life is not hopeless shortly after surgery.

“The objects we found that much metal in the bottom of his stomach. At the beginning of the operation is not how much we thought, but it turned out very much. Already there are signs of chronic ulceration in the stomach Singh,” said Dr. Yadav as quoted from Dailymaill.

It is believed, the habit of swallowing metal objects is not known by family and even his own wife. His wife had begun to suspect after Singh had trouble sleeping the last 4 weeks and is always complaining about pain in his stomach. While the doctors expected, Singh suffered from a mental disorder schizophrenia so desperate to do things that make no sense including eating coins. In addition, Singh also allegedly suffered from eating disorder called PICA so happy to insert objects other than food into his stomach.

Living in New York, Los Angeles, or states such as Florida and New Jersey means either one of two things; high taxes and traffic jams.

Living in New York, Los Angeles, or states such as Florida and New Jersey means either one of two things: high taxes and high traffic. Here I’m just going to focus on the traffic because it never stops. In fact, it is probably an endless and unavoidable nuisance.

Don’t eat food
If you have to eat something, just have a cracker. Don’t eat a huge amount of sub while driving, it’s just silly. Go to a rest stop, find a table, and eat it there. When you have a bunch of teens in a car, food will be difficult to avoid but just remember, it’s your car, keep it clean, be in control, and don’t make your parents throw you out of the house.

Talking on your Cellphone
This one is really straight forward. A cellphone is a very big distraction practically everywhere. When you drive, it becomes a potentially fatal distraction. Unless you have one of those speaker or blue tooth headsets, don’t talk on your cellphone. You’ll notice the car begin to swerve, you’ll either speed up or slow down, and other drivers will claxon at you because you’re about to run off the path.

Texting While Driving
Talking on your phone is one thing, if you text and drive, you’ve got huge problems. It’s nearly impossible to do both but I have seen people doing it. Those are the people that I claxon at frequently. They become completely distracted to the point where an eventual accident becomes inevitable. It’s the stupidest thing anyone can do. Having to text and drive became a recent driving danger but it’s definitely one of the most dangerous distractions if you are a driver.

Putting on Make-Up
This one generally refers to the female driving population although it can work both ways. I don’t get this one at all. I mean why can’t people do this at their houses or in some toilets at a rest stop. I know sometimes people wake up very late and they have to get to their job on time but that’s their own fault. I mean what’s more important, looking good or trying not to end up in a coma.

Blasting music
Everybody has to listen to their music while driving, I know I do. However, there is a difference between listening to music at a steady level and completely blasting it to full energy. That can’t be good for your speakers and for your ears. It is certainly not the best thing to do when your driving because it is another huge distraction. This time you aren’t the only one being distracted. If your windows are down and you are blasting music at maximum power, drivers around you may get distracted as well, which will eventually lead to bigger problems.
Don’t blast your music unless you want to risk multiple accidents.

Drinking (Non-Alcoholic)
Like eating, drinking is generally a no-no. The only time it is okay is if you’re at a red light and you want a little sip of your water. Water is the best beverage you can have because it is rather harmless. Any type of soft drink or soda can be problematic. While it is not a huge distraction, there’s the chance that, while you’re drinking and have to make a fast brake, you accidentally choke or spill your drink.
That’s the danger to drinking a beverage. I mean imagine drinking Coca Cola or Pepsi and spilling it all over your seat, your radio, or anywhere else, lol. Drinking potentially leads to a messy car. I’ve been through that first hand when my friend spilled his Coke all over the passenger’s seat. The stain is still there and no car wash has been able to remove it. So, avoid the soda, stick with water, but only when you are not moving.

Avoid the High Beams
Unless you’re on a desolate highway in Utah, don’t use high beams. They are very distracting for other drivers that have to put up with them. They completely blind others and may cause them to have an accident. They should only be used in an isolated area and not while going through Main Street in some major cities.

Don’t swerve or constantly change lanes
Extremely dangerous to yourself and others. Swerving confuses other drivers that are near you and it puts them at a high risk. If you swerve, you’re much more likely to get into an accident or hit something. The same goes for changing lanes. Even if the driver signals, changing lanes every five seconds is very annoying. I know people are in a rush on a Monday morning and have to get to work but don’t risk ending up in hospital because of your negligent driving.
Don’t swerve and don’t shift lanes every few seconds. Decide on a lane and stick with it for as long as you can but stay on your side, repeat, don’t swerve!

Don’t cut people off
Expect to get flipped off and claxoned at constantly. This is not a proper driving etiquette tip 101, don’t cut people off. It is the same thing as cutting people off while in line at the amusement park, do not do it. Not only does this have to do with proper driving etiquette, it also has to do with proper safety habits.
It can be very dangerous during times of unusual high traffic because there are just too many people out there and the risks become massive. The same thing applies to people who get cut off. I get cut off by others all the time, I do not know why, I am not a slow driver. Still, do not attempt to return the favor by cutting them off because it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Don’t Drink and Drive (Alcoholic)
The biggest thing that a driver shouldn’t do is to drink any type of alcoholic beverage while driving. This also applies to drinking right before deciding to drive home from some club or party. Drinking and driving kills, simple as that. Hundred of drivers die every day from drunk drivers. We are talking about people driving while they are blind because that is exactly what drinking and driving is. Would you drive a vehicle while you’re blind? I hope not.
Statistics show that in 2008, over 37% of all driving related deaths were due to alcohol related fatalities. That percentage used to be a lot higher several years back but luckily with proper knowledge about alcohol consumption, the percentage of drunk driving related deaths have been steadily decreasing.
Still, 37% is way too much. That should drop below 10% at least. It’s up to drivers today to teach the younger generations not to attempt to do this. Just think of the disastrous risks your children will avoid by not drinking and driving.
Any of those 10 things mentioned above are dangerous to drivers. They’re dangerous for the drivers and the public. They should be avoided at all costs, especially the #1 reason. Eliminate the risks and avoid making stupid decisions, be safe and drive with caution.

Poverty as a risk factor.

Poverty Makes You Die Sooner than you should if you were not living in poverty at all. Poverty seems to be more a risk factor then obesity, smoking and other prominent risk factors that can shorten your life for you. People in poverty will normally live a life that is not fun to be living in and is so very hard to not be poor especially if you are sick too.

People in poverty will normally not have the same health care as people that have more money or no health care at all which is a big risk factor also to have. Poverty can make your life shorter by 5-10 years which may not seem like a lot but truly is and it should not be for these poor people to have to deal with this terrible way of living.

You should never judge someone that is struggling with poverty because you really do not know what is going on in their life and what circumstances that they have to live with. Unless you live a life that is tough like this you really do not have no clue as to understanding this.

The former dictator tried to flee from Sirte to the desert when he was caught by OTAN.

“He died in my hands. For forty minutes in agony, he talked, but did not respond. He had two shots, one in the chest and another in the head, and lost much blood. “Ismael Tweel is back where he died Thursday Muammar Gaddafi. As head of the brigade Al-Halba his was the responsibility of Sirte Zone 2 (military name), very close and one of the hardest hit by the fighting because there lurked the exmandatario.
At nine o’clock NATO gave warning that a convoy of 25 vehicles preparing to leave the city. The caravan went at noon from Zone 2 by the Coast Highway, after a few kilometers left the road and got into an olive grove with a dirt road in an area called Silia. At this time, when they left the houses, there was the bombing. Cars burn bear witness to the killing. Many of the passengers were killed and their charred bodies were mistaken for junk. The rest ran away trying to find refuge among the trees.
Three weeks of constant fighting and NATO bombing forced the dictator to make the decision to Sirte. According to testimony that the rebels have obtained from detainees, the first thing Thursday Gadhafi gathered his best men and Motasim accompanied by his son, he announced his intention to leave his hiding place in recent months to reach Wadi Yaraf, the door of the desert. The flight was not easy. In addition to NATO, the convoy had to circumvent the safety belts of the rebel forces, who came mostly from Benghazi and Misrata. Silia is a quiet rural area with a dirt track that leads directly into the desert.
Gaddafi’s men had a clear escape route, but NATO scuppered his plans. ”We were not told that Gaddafi was on the cars, but we were told that it could be someone important,” says militants who took part in the capture. The honor of the dictator went to hunt the men of the Brigades Al-Nemer, Sahal Wadi Al-Sharqi and all of Misrata. The belt created by the rebel leadership was effective and thanks to its deployment at the entrances to the city came face to face with the ousted dictator.
The bombing was fast and accurate. Immediately after the battle began with the men fleeing the burning car. ”We captured one who said that Gaddafi and his son were in the cars, but not at first believed him,” said Taweel. Fighting among the olive trees, a group of rebels found several people who sought refuge in a cement pipe. As they approached they were repelled by gunfire from a dozen men took up positions around one of the cavities. Their bodies were removed yesterday by members of the Crescent, was the dictator’s personal guard and no one was left alive.
“Moammar, Muammar!”
While the bodies are carried in plastic bags dozens of militants come on pilgrimage to see the scene. ”Since February we called rats and then ends up hiding in this hole where you really can only live rats, like a coward,” he jokes Ashraf, who came from Ajdabiya to Sirte to try to find her missing brother in March, when the forces ofGaddafi took his people. Militants of the East and West come together in front of the line and write the names of their crews at the site where the dictator fell. Others put the name of loved ones killed in the fierce battle.
The fight lasted more than fifteen minutes. In the pipe saw a man armed with a nine millimeter pistol, dressed in white with black leather boots. ”What are you doing?” Asked the militants, without losing a moment he pounced on him, shouting “Moammar, Muammar!”. The news spread quickly and within minutes a mob surrounded the dictator and shaking him. ”We hit hard,” acknowledges one of the militiamen who was present and that, when asked whether he was executed, said: “what happened in the next few minutes of capture only what we know. The images do not have nor Al-Jazeera. “ The version of the brigade commanders offered is that “several bullets escaped the arms of the crowd, arms uninsured, and two of them killed him.”
Taweel and two other men robbed a group Gaddafi wounded and managed to upload it to an ambulance. ”We took the top of your clothes to see the wound, try to help, but people soon began to rise and more people. They took his gold ring to the boots, they all wanted a war trophy, “recalls Taweel, whose only memories are his pants stained by the blood of exmandatario. He barely made their way through the crowd with the car and headed to Misrata, the central market where doctors certified his death and where the body is exposed to the public in a chamber for storing meat from animals slaughtered. What happened to his son Mutassim? A similar capture and the same end, the death of rebel hands. At press time, father and son were in the fridge waiting to be buried.
