According to a survey conducted Huffington Post (via an online survey services provider SocialSci and Mechanical Turk), against 230 adult respondents in the United States, women and men have different priorities in the development itself. Respondents answered questions about the custom of making resolutions, including resolutions they made in the past. This survey shows what kind of resolution are the priorities of women and men.

* Exercise: 78 percent of women, men 70 percent.
* Life is more regularly: 74 percent women, 66 percent male.
* More patient: 73 percent of women and men have this resolution.
* Work harder: men 73 percent, 67 percent of women.
* More to enjoy life: 69 percent of women, men 64 percent.
* Stop smoking: 63 percent male, 53 percent of women.
* Spend more time with your spouse: 61 percent of women, men 60 percent.
* Spend time with friends: 61 percent of women choose it, while only 49 percent of men who make New Year’s resolution.
* Stop drinking alcohol: 60 percent male, 14 percent of women.
* Spend more time with your children often: 59 percent of mothers, fathers 57 per cent.
* Lose weight: 57 percent of women, men 54 percent.

This survey also shows more women than men often make resolutions. As many as 63 percent of female respondents admitted they made a resolution every year, while only 50 percent of men who do the same. Women also tend to be more open, to let resolutions that they made to others. While 93 percent of male respondents said the resolution is personal and only for yourself not to be disclosed to others.

Do they say that you often have firmness of purpose?
Do they say that you sometimes show a very deep unfriendly feeling?
Do they say that you show intense enjoyment and interest?
Do they say that you sometimes do not show much emotion or interest ?
Do they say that you sometimes are indecisive, unsure?
Do  they say that you always do what is necessary?
Do they say that you always do what is convenient?
Do they say that you sometimes are indifferent?
Do they sometimes say that you are open, communicative, talkative, effusive?
Do they say that  sometimes you are extremely reserved?

Yahsarah Hebyalifsarpri is 23 years old. She does not  believe in the concept of soulmates. She thinks that love at first sight does not happen. She believes that it is impossible to love someone unconditionally. It takes her a while to show enthusiasm, affection, kindness to someone she is dating. She has had a wide range of love experiences. She believes in love, but she knows it does not come easily. She speaks about “love at first sight” and “soulmates” in a scornfully derisive way.

Zandra Heldefmansan is 22 years old. She needs her space in a relationship. She things that in a relationship it is unhealthy to spend every night together. There are some things she really enjoys about being single. She often feels trapped and oppressed in relationships. She has had only one relationship. She still has a lot to learn, and a lot to try! She does not need to be in love, and sometimes she does not even want love. She says that having her own life is very important for her.

Wanda Wenslanoreasger is 30 years old. She has had at least two boyfriends. She has dated someone for over a year. Unfortunately she has had her heart broken. Also she has broken someone’s heart. It’s hard for her to imagine being with one person at time. She has loved, lost, and loved again. She has had a wide range of love experiences. It is hard for her to stay devoted for too long. All her relationships have been very similar.

Do they say that you always accept authority?
Do they say that you always show firm and constant support or allegiance to people?
Do they say that you are always very loving and  loyal?
Do they say that you sometimes show a desire to rebel?
Do they say that you always show affection?
Do they say that you sometimes are unfriendly or unenthusiastic?
Do they say that you sometimes are not friendly toward other people?
Do they say that you sometimes are ambitions towards achieving something?
Do they say that you are motivated or unmotivated?
Do they say that you are self-satisfied?
Do they say that you are free from prejudice?
Do they say that you are not influenced by others?
Do they say that you are very careful about showing your feelings?
Do they say that you are inclined to conceal feelings and intentions?
Do they say that you always pay serious attention and consideration to your actions and plans?
Do they say that you have an uncaring attitude toward your schoolwork or job?
Do they say that sometimes you show no sympathy for others?
Do they say that sometimes you are easily annoyed or angered?
Do they say that you show concern for the needs and  feelings of other people?
Do they say that sometimes you do not think about the rights and feelings of other people?

Is this statement always true or false?  Does every daughter follow their in their mother’s footsteps?

No, because both of these people are individuals with their own personalities.  They have their likes and dislikes.

Today, I am talking about the personalities of both parties.  I had a friend that was sweet and helped me through some rough times in my life.  She was down to earth and expected nothing in return for her help.

Her personality was sweet and nice to anyone she met.  She was not a rich lady and worked as a store clerk for over thirty years.  Remember one day coming out of Wal-Mart with this special lady and she saw a mother trying to explain to her daughter why she couldn’t buy her the coat, snow pants, and boots she wanted.  They had just arrived in town and had to save their money to get a place to stay. Had stop in Wal-Mart to get warm and doing some window shopping inside.

My friend went over to her and explains who she was to the mother.  Taking both by their hands, she led them back into the store and bought the little girl the items she wanted plus some new clothes, a new doll, and some hygiene items.  Watching as my friend spread the joy and love of Christmas around to these two, I decided to do my part.

I booked them into a nearby hotel for a week and got the mother a job at my friend’s restaurant.

The daughter of my friend came to town and found out what her mother had done.  She started to yell at being such an old fool and that those two probably were big scammers.  Finally, having enough listening to the daughter I told her to shut up.  The daughter looked at me in stunned silence and slammed off into the room she had in her mother’s house.  Looking at my friend, I said “Sorry!”  Shrugging her shoulders and said “Why? She will get over it and if she doesn’t, so what

Now I do want to mention that while Karen is a Christian, I am not, while Karen celebrates Christmas as the birth of Jesus, I do not. I do not celebrate Christmas for the same reason as Karen but this does not mean that I have to be cruel to her and insult her reasons for celebrating. And before you ask… I do celebrate “Christmas” with the same traditions that predate Christianity – the tree, the gifts, and so forth, I just do not associate it with the birth of Jesus.  If somebody wishes me a Merry Christmas, I thank them, why would I mad or insulted?

But not too many years ago I was yelled at while working in a retail store, I said “Happy Holidays” to a lady customer and she freaked out, you would have thought I charged her too much for her purchases. What is so wrong with saying Happy Holidays? It’s not like I said “Happy Saturnalia“* or called her ugly.

Just because a person is not the same religion as you should not be any reason you cannot send them greetings?

Why cant we wish happy Diwali to East Indians and others that celebrate it? I did earlier this year after eating at an East Indian restaurant. I also wished Eid Mubarak to my internet Muslim friends earlier this year – and why not? I would wish people happy Kwanzaa too if I knew anyone that celebrated it.

Just because we do not share the same religion does not mean we should be so ignorant to bash somebody for offering us good wishes.

I still wonder why that lady was so cruel to me on that day when all I did was wish her happy holidays? Perhaps she is happier off being miserable.

*Saturnalia is one of the ancient December 25 holidays that predated Christianity, in which trees were decorated, gifts were exchanged, and the ancient pagans welcomed back the return to the sun in the sky, and celebrated the virgin birth of the sun God.

*greets Erin* Thank you for being here.

[Erin Gruwell] *smiles* Thank you for having me.

[Host] Yes, well let’s get down to business now should we.

[Erin Gruwell] *smiles with a light laugh* Sure.

[Host] Well we all know of the great and positive impacts that you had on your students, but what we want to know is how and why you did some things that you did through your journey.

[Erin Gruwell] *nods* ok

[Host] For example, why did you find two part time jobs just so your students could get better equipment?

[Erin Gruwell] Well after being refused any new books (or equipment?) from Ms. Campbell (Head of English at Wilson High) and also the lack of support from fellow teachers, I didn’t have a choice really. My kids (I could tell) have potential to be just like everyone. So I want … I mean they’d be willing to learn, if the school actually gave them good enough books, not ripped up ones.

[Host] Yes I see your point. 

     That got me thinking that, OMG, everyone on Earth is prejudiced. The mere fact that we feel and express like and dislike of some things and people over others makes us de facto prejudiced.

     I know that I am prejudiced against a lot of things:

                                                . Chicken and turkey_ I hate poultry.

                                                . Expensive produce rotting on the store shelves.

                                                . Cars whose price equals the down payment on a home and are ready for

                                                   the bone-yard before they are paid-off.

     And I could go on and you could add to the list without thinking too hard.

     I am also prejudiced against some types of people:

                                                 . Rude people

                                                 . Liars

                                                 . Bullies

                                                 . Criminals

                                                 . Ambulance Chasers

                                                 . Politicians(see second bullet)

     And, again, I could go on and you could include countless more.

     My only “hang-up” about people is with race…ethnicity. It arouses my curiosity. Where they came from.  Their language. Their customs and traditions. Their history. And so on…

     Being that I work with many people from other lands, I find myself learning a lot from all of them. Among many things, I learn that their basic needs, wants, likes and dislikes are very similar to my own. And that is what makes them “my people”. We hear a lot about promoting diversity. Diversity is not something that you create, grow, promote and what have you. It simply exists. It is a fact of life. All we need to do is welcome it and learn from it. Let us keep in mind that our Creator had a purpose in mind for all creation.

     As an aside, I was once told that W.C. Field, when asked by a reporter wether he was prejudiced, responded with two short sentences: ” I am not prejudiced. I hate everyone equally…” …hmmm…

     Oh well, we all have our own cross to bear. I can only add: “Viva la diversitee”…
