  An all around survivor, Les is the one and only star in Discovery’s hit series, Survivorman. He is known for his ability to build a fire anywhere in any weather with anything. With Canada’s frozen wasteland as his home, Les’ ability to survive any situation is second to none. All around bad ass? Definitely.

Now for the question? Who would win in a one-on-one “survive-off”? 

Lets look at the facts:

SOLITUDE: Bear Grylls brings the 4-5 people who make up his camera crew on every trip into the wild. This makes me wonder: Who is badder? Bear Grylls? or Bear Grylls’ camera man who is doing everything that Bear is doing except with 40 lbs. of camera and sound equipment? Les Stroud is not only alone, but sometimes he walks to the top of a hill, sets up a camera, walks back down, and hikes up the hill, just to get some footage that he may or may not put into his show. Les Stroud defiantly takes this category. 

KNOWLEDGE OF THE WILD: I’m going to make this simple: they both know their stuff. On each series, the viewer is almost guaranteed to leave with something new that they want to try out in the backyard. This category is a tie.

RISKS TAKEN: I think Bear Grylls walks through the woods constantly thinking: How can I make this simple situation as complicated as possible? I have to give it to him though: he does keep the audience on the edge (which is the whole point of the show anyways). While Survivorman is great, sometimes it seems as if Les takes the easy way out and trys to survive 7 days without even atempting to look for a way out (supposedly, he is supposed to find a way out, but if 7 days pass a helicopter will come find him). Even though recently some of his actions have provoked a “Dude, come on”, Bear Grylls definitely takes the most risks. 

This topic will forever be debated, but in my opinion, Bear Grylls and Les Stroud will forever share the title of “Discovery’s Biggest Bad Ass”.
