The mystical land of India has over the years not only produced some of the best and brightest minds in our country, be it doctors, engineers, scientists and academicians, but has also contributed in a large way to the entire American ethos.

Be it Yoga, which is being regularly practiced by thousands of Americans across the country or Indian cuisine, ingredients of which have very well become a part of practically every American kitchen, ‘Indianness’ is everywhere and really hard to miss.

In such a scenario, as a single male native American, chances are bright that you would like to take the next step towards imbibing the Indian culture within you and romantically associate with an Indian woman. After all, why not? Not only are a lot of them stunningly beautiful, with a string of Miss Universe and Miss World crowns to their credit, they are absolutely loyal to their partners as well as to their families, and have a reputation for being just the perfect home-maker – one who can balance both the professional and personal sides of her life most judiciously.

So, how do you grab her attention? After all, chances are slim that an Indian woman would approach you directly – it is just not in their value system to initiate romantic allusions with persons outside of their own culture and society.

A great way of initiating a conversation with an Indian woman and also holding on to her attention is to do some homework on the Indian culture and society, and trying to discuss the same with her. Indian women are particularly sensitive about their own customs and norms, and therefore, are truly impressed by any person outside of their own culture who displays a good knowledge of the same.

For instance, why don’t you try to approach an Indian woman whom you have the hots for, around the time of the festival of Diwali, and simply greet her ‘Happy Diwali’? In the midst of the ensuing conversation, you could let her know that you know the significance of this festival as celebrating the homecoming of Lord Rama, depicted in the Indian mythology, Ramayana. This is of course, provided you’ve done your basic homework, and read up about these things adequately. Chances are very bright that she truly would be impressed and would gladly accept your offer for a date.

On the date itself, you could extend the conversation to other aspects of the Indian culture, some or all of which, you might just be genuinely into already…it could be Yoga, it could be Indian food, it could even be places in India that you would like to visit and so on. And as far as places in India that you would like to visit go, why not mention the Taj Mahal, one of the world’s best known monumental expressions of love? Chances are bright that she would fall hook, line and sinker for this bait, and sure enough sense a romantic urge within you, for her.

Having said that, discussing sex and physical intimacy on your first date with an Indian woman would definitely be a no-no; and showing off your knowledge of all the various sex positions as depicted in the Kama Sutra, would certainly not help your cause.

Therefore, in your quest for grabbing an Indian woman’s attention and approaching her for a date, use your charm and your general awareness judiciously, polishing the latter up for at least some aspects of the Indian culture. And leave your carnal desires behind, at least for the first few dates – sooner or later, ‘things’ will happen, so just be a little patient!

Eventually, the two of you should certainly find yourself in a romantic relationship.

Good luck!

Happy new year sms.

New year means the end of the current year and a start of a new year which make fresh everyone. We make new resolution that how we will make this year different from our previous year.

We think about mind blowing ides to celebrate it and to have fun with all our dear ones. A few people like to go on parties to enjoy the night of the New Year and few plans other ways to welcome the New Year.

Some like to go on dinners with their families, give gifts to their loved ones to show how precious they are and they want their company too in the new coming year.

Few send well wishes to other in the form of gifts. But sometime it is not easy to go to every one to convey the greetings of the New Year. The people who are living near to our town we can go in personal and greet them but to greet them who are miles away from us are not easy. To have a thought that we cannot greet them on such an important eve make us sad. But with the advance in technology, this problem is solved. Cell phone is the need of every one and with the help of this magnificent invent of science we can wish the warm greetings of the New Year to our loved ones who are miles away from us on the new year eve. This way of conveying greeting is easy and cheap. Just type the New Year text and send it to your all loved ones. Seeing a simple short text like Years come and go, but this year I specially wish 4 u a double dose of health n happiness topped with loads of good fortune. Have a great year ahead! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! can give immense pleasure of our all friends.

Diwali is celebrated today, 26th October, 2011.

If you happen to live in a country where there is a significant Indian population, chances are, you will see colorful lights blinking in some neighbors’ balconies between mid-October and mid-November. These lights are not for Christmas yet. These are for the Diwali celebration of our Indian brothers and sisters.

Diwali is popularly translated as ‘festival of lights’ and is an official holiday in countries like India, Malaysia and Singapore. Even in places where it is not an official holiday, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains or Buddhist communities each have their own ways and reasons for celebrating the occasion. Homes are decorated with colorful lights, fireworks may be heard and gifts are exchanged among family and friends.

If you live in a country or have a culture and religion that is quite different from the people of the Indian Subcontinent, remembering the precise and specific reasons why Diwali is celebrated can be a bit challenging. But as the translation of Diwali suggests, this is about the triumph of light against the darkness, of good against evil, of hope against despair, of life against death. And from there, you will find common ground for us all.

Diwali is celebrated today, 26th of October 2011. Take time to greet anybody who has their home lit for the occasion. Happy Diwali!

Deepavali (Diwali) is the Festival of Lights and the festival is celebrated throughout India and whereby Lord Lakshmi is prayed by all as she is considered as the Lord of Wealth and Prosperity. Happy Diwali to All!!

DEEPAVALI-THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Deepavali or Diwali is known as the festival of lights and it is celebrated during mid October or November every year. There has been a number of stories revolving around Diwali, the first one been that Lord Ram had returned from the forest after 14 years of exile (Vanvas). The killing of Narakasura by Lord Krishna has been another story revolving around this great occasion of Diwali. The defeat of Lord Indra by Lord Krishna where ultimately Lord Krishna wins as he had been on the side of Karma, the ‘duty’ that is bestowed on us which we have to perform religiously in our daily lives and later, Lord Krishna was recognized as the Supreme God by Indra. The return of Pandavas after 12 years from Vanvas has been another story prevailing among the Hindus to celebrate this festival.

The release of Guru Hargobind Ji and of 52 of other prisoners mainly Hindu Kings, the martyrdom of Bhai Mani Singh, the rise of the Khalsa movement and the Khalsa movement been established by Guru Govind Singh have been the stories behind this festival celebrated by the Sikhs.

The Jains celebrate Diwali as they consider that Lord Mahavira had attained Nirvana during this time but according to some historical books it is said that the Jainism religion had been established during this time while for some of the Buddhists they celebrate Diwali by chanting mantras as according to them on this day they believe that Emperor Ashoka had converted to Buddhism on this day.

During this time all the citizens of India conduct Lakshmi Pooja as Lord Laksmi is considered as the God of wealth and prosperity and pray for the prosperity for the years to come by.

Whatever be the stories or the reasons behind celebrating Diwali, it brings all religions under one roof and huge celebration is conducted throughout India.

During this festival, people decorate their houses with tiny clay lamps known as diyas and everyone wears new clothes and also shares sweets with their family and friends. The children celebrate Diwali by bursting crackers and by lighting sparklers.

During this time let us all pray for the prosperity and well being of others without forgetting our Karma to our fellow beings which is our duty and always be united during the forthcoming years.

‘Happy Diwali to all those on ‘Triond’ and for all those people who have given a platform to express ourselves through ‘Triond’ through various other subjects.

But keep up with the good spirits. Happy Diwali!

Diwali—the Festival of Lights—is celebrated in India every year between mid-October to mid-November depending on the new moon cycle. It is also called Deepavali meaning rows of oil lamps.

Diwali is the biggest festival for Hindus. There are many theories on the origin of this festival. The main theories include celebrating the return of Lord Ram from a 14-year-long banishment or vanvas, killing of demon Narakasura celebrated as the victory of good over evil and welcoming the harvest season in some parts of India. The followers of the Jain and the Sikh religions also celebrate the festival linking it to their specific historical events.

For 2011 Diwali celebrations started on 24th October and were to continue till the 28th. This five-day period of observance is not common to whole of India. In the Eastern region the festival is basically for two days starting on the New Moon night with the worship of Goddess Kali—the most fearsome and ferocious form of the Goddess Durga—who represents a power to destroy all evil forces. Her worship and the lighting of lamps both inside and outside homes are believed to drive away evil forces and to attain the blessings of noble departed souls.

In most other states of India Diwali is celebrated for at least five days. It starts on the 13th day of the dark lunar cycle which is considered auspicious for buying metals or utensils. The 14th day represents the killing of demons and is observed as the symbolic victory over evil. On the 15th or the New Moon day called Amavas Goddess Laxmi—the goddess of wealth—is worshipped and is considered to be the most auspicious day like Kali worship in other parts. Next day is celebrated as first day of the month of Hindu calender and the fifth day is devoted for expression of love between brothers and sisters.

People get into joyous moods during this Festival of Lights. They buy new clothes, buy and distribute sweets, visit near and dear ones and every evening till late burst fire crackers.

On the flip side there is tremendous noise pollution and smoke which linger on all the days. Old people and patients suffer the most. Frightened domestic pets and stray animals find corners to hide behind.

But keep up with the good spirits. Happy Diwali!

We do celebrate Diwali, the festival of lights and symbol of victory over evil. But are we doing this in a right manner?

Diwali

Yes, we are celebrating the festival of lights today, the symbol of victory of good on evil. However, are our ways are correct? On the other hand, are we really doing that, the right way? No, I think we shall have to mend, if we really want to do that.

We leave the evil there where it was every year and add-up some more evil to our credit. We shall not be able to eradicate the evil if we shall concentrate on lights, firecrackers and sweets alone.

We shall have to go a bit deeper and do the needful to be able to celebrate Diwali in its full value. I wish you a nice time. I wish you all a very happy Diwali with all the joy and prosperity, which is the basic of this festival.

However, for myself I thank God that I am not in Delhi but in Bangalore and saved from the deafening firecrackers. You know this festival has become more of a symbolic value rather than its actual values, which are very different.

I am so sorry to see people wasting so much money, as billion and billions of Rupees wasted, on this single day, which could be, utilized for a noble cause.

Happy Diwali to all my friends.

Do's and don'ts for Diwali - Be safe.

India is currently immersed in the celebration of Diwali – the festival of lights, though these days it’s more noise. The sky is lit with fireworks, homes are decorated with bright light, earthen lamps and candles. While most of them women folk are busy preparing sweets and savories, the younger population are more interested in lighting crackers.

Diwali will be more fun if you take precautions and prevent any mis-happening. Nearly 40% of firework injuries are to bystanders and 4 out of 5 injuries happen to male.

So this Diwali, take a note of these things

1) Bur fireworks from reputed vendors.

2) Light at an arm’s length

3) Stand back at a proper distance

4) Don’t go near to crackers that did not burst on first attempt.

5) Wear proper clothes, don’t wear chiffon clothes or materials that can easily catch fire.

6) Light crackers at a safe distance from your home. Make sure that you close windows so that any stray cracker doesn’t enter the room.

7) Don’t let children light crackers without adult supervision.

8) Don’t drink alcohol if setting of fireworks.

Have a blast but be safe. Wish you all a very happy Diwali

Mantra Shastra makes it possible. No need to spend unaffordable money or not necessary to spare much time to complete this process successfully. The only inevitable thing is implicit faith in the Almighty (in any form or without form-means Saguna or Nirguna; utmost concentration, devotion and dedication while chanting the Mantra.

IN THE LIFE ON THE EVE OF THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS ‘DIWALI’?

However, there is no worry to be desperate or disgusted as in the initial stages, almost all the Practitioners (Sadhaks) experience distortion and deviation. Means, while chanting the mantra, many mundane matters or unsolicited thoughts or uninvited feelings forcibly occupy or rush into our mental plane to ward off from the noble attempt. Gradually, the Practitioner gets absorbed in the Mantra.

IN THE LIFE ON THE EVE OF THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS ‘DIWALI’?

Learned readers know very well that Diwali or Deepavali means the Festival of Lights observed and celebrated since ages unknown. This festival has mythological, spiritual, philosophical, mystical and sociological significance. I am not dealing in detail about those aspects, as the focus right now is on “How to kindle the inextinguishable light in the life on the eve of the Festival of Lights ‘Diwali’?”

IN THE LIFE ON THE EVE OF THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS ‘DIWALI’?

It is not out of place to mention that any festival of any religion is not like the ancestral property of the people embracing that particular religion. All the festivals, irrespective of the religious barriers are meant for the peace and tranquility, prosperity and wealth and well being of the entire mankind. So also the Mantras are for the welfare of all the living beings. Hence, anybody is free to adopt and practice these Mantras.

Diwali or Deepavali, is a festival of lights!

Diwali is an Indian festival of lights, a festival in Hinduism but celebrated by all in India.
Diwali, the name by itself translates into “row of lights” and it involves the lighting of oil filled clay lamps. It is symbolic to the triumph of good over evil.
Families get together, wear newly bought clothes, burst crackers, give gifts and prepare/share sweets among themselves and even relatives/friends.
People following Jainism, Sikkism and Buddhism too celebrate this festival in their own ways.

This year, the festival begins today in India and lasts for like 5 days – till friday – when it culminates with Bhai Dooj, a day on which sisters invite their brothers (and their families) home.

Wish you all a very Happy Diwali!

Diwali or Deepawali, probably the biggest festival in India has begun! It is the festival of lights. It removes darkness from our lives. It is festival of joy, it removes sorrows!

Diwali means ‘row of lamps’. Diwali has many religious stories behind it. It starts from Vasubaras. On this day we worship cow. Cow has religious importance in Hindu religion. Then there is Dhantrayodashi (Dhanteras). On this day we worship money. It is also beginning of financial year. Money is not considered bad. In fact it is worshipped to show it’s importance. Then there is Narak Chaturdashi. Lord Krishna killed ‘Narakasur’ this day. So this is celebrated. Next is Laxmi Pujan. Goddess Laxmi gives us wealth, prosperity. Then it is Bali Pratipada. After that it comes to Yama Dwitiya or Bhai Dooj better known, it shows love between brother and sister.

We burn small clay lamps. We hang paper lantern outside the house. Diwali brings lots of celebrations. We buy new cloths. Sweets are prepared, then we have fun with firecrackers. We greet each other and this way Diwali spreads so much happiness everywhere.
