Whitney Houston, a great singer was reported dead by drug abuse.

The entertainment world was shaken by the sudden death of star singer Whitney Houston at the age of 48. She was found dead in the bath tube of her hotel room. Further investigation put the blame on excess prescribed drug consumption and drowning.

However, rumors are spreading on the possibility that she is faking her death, so that she may leave the entertainment world quietly, and continue living as average person, and not a diva. The recent decrease in her career may also become a reason that supports the rumors. It is because the death of star by drug abuse is so cliché.

On the other hand, the career problem may as well be the very reason Whitney Houston is involved in drugs. Her singing was recently rumored to become worse and, can be beaten by new rising star. Nonetheless, her management denied of such accusation. The same goes to her fans that are mourning her death.

The sudden death of Whitney Houston sure is a loss to the entertainment world as she is admittedly one of the best singers. Still, her fans will never leave her after her death, and keep her hit songs alive.

What are the street names/slang terms for it?
Aunt Mary, Boom, Bud, Chronic, Ganja, Gangster, Grass, Hash, Herb, Kif, Mary Jane, Pot, Reefer, Sinsemilla, Skunk, Trees, Weed

What is it?
Marijuana, the most often commonly used illegal drug in this country, is a product of the hemp plant, Cannabis sativa. The main active chemical in marijuana, also present in other forms of cannabis, is THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol). Of the roughly 400 chemicals found in the cannabis plant, THC affects the brain the most.

What does it look like?
Marijuana is a green, brown, or gray mixture of dried, shredded leaves, stems, seeds and flowers of the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). A more concentrated, resinous form is called hashish or hash.

How is it used?
Most users roll loose marijuana into a cigarette called a “joint”. It can be smoked in a water pipe, called a “bong”, or mixed into food or brewed as tea. It has also appeared in cigars called “blunts”.

The hype:

“It will make you laugh and have fun,” “It’s an herbal ‘chill pill’ and totally natural,” “Marijuana won’t hurt you, it’s not addicting” and “Marijuana smoke isn’t all that dangerous.”

The reality:

“I had horrible anxiety attacks. I’ve gained a lot of weight and I’m forgetting stuff”, “You just can’t fix some of the things you might do when you’re high”, “When you start to smoke pot you start to care less about things.” P.S. “Natural doesn’t mean harmless – cocaine comes from coca plants, heroin from poppy plants and both are harmful.”

What can happen while you’re high?

Short-term effects of marijuana can include problems with memory and learning, distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch), trouble with thinking and problem solving, loss of motor coordination, increased heart rate, and anxiety. These effects are even greater when other drugs are mixed with marijuana. A user may also experience dry mouth and throat.

What can happen long term?

Marijuana smoke contains some of the same cancer-causing compounds as tobacco, sometimes in higher concentrations. Smoking one marijuana joint exposes users to four times the cancer-causing tar found in one cigarette

Dihydrogen monoxide, or hydric acid, is a dangerous substance that the government needs to regulate better. I don't want my kids snorting it or injecting it. Once you start, you're pretty much going to be taking it for the rest of your life.

Somebody in Congress or the president himself needs to do something about the growing dihydrogen monoxide problem we have here in America. If you haven’t heard about this stuff yet, it’s only a matter of time before you do. You might even have it in your house right now and not know it. It’s a completely legal substance, but it’s absolutely deadly. Countless people are killed by the stuff every year. You think your kids don’t take it? I bet you they do! And once you start, you’re hooked on the stuff for the rest of your life. You can’t live without it. There’s no cure for somebody who regulalry takes it. The worst part is that the government is so slow to act and hasn’t done a damn thing about the spread of the stuff. It destroyed the inner city of New Orleans–tore the entire community apart a few years back, but it’s not just a southern problem anymore. I’ve found out from secret sources that it’s being made everywhere. If you’ve got kids, chances are that they’ve taken the stuff. No matter how good a parent you are, it only takes one taste, and that taste is usually free! What’s worse is how available it is in our schools! Kids walk around carrying the stuff right in front of teachers and staff and most of them don’t even notice it!

What is it? Basically, dihydrogen monoxide, or “Ocean” as some of the kids call it is a precursor chemical for many toxic compounds. Once ingested, whether swallowed or injected, it alters your physical and mental self. It can be a perilous problem, and yet nobody is doing anything to combat its spread. An overdose of hydric acid can be fatal. Even slight inhalation of the stuff can cause a quick death.

Why are more people not aware of this epidemic? What kind of parent are you if you haven’t sit down with your kids and talked to them about dihydrogen monoxide? Please! Do it! Lots of kids are mixing it with their sodas and drinks. Your kids could be sipping on a cup that’s loaded with it right now and you just sit there, completely oblivious to the whole thing!

Spread the word! If you’re on the PTA, please make it an issue and get involved. Warn people. Tell themthe facts, like where it comes from, what it is and how we can all do our part to prevent it from spreading to your house before its too late. Signs of dihydrogen monoxide overdose include bloating, frequent urination and kidney failure. Let’s all step up and do our part to keep this generation dihyrogen monoxide free! It’s coming to your town, if not today, maybe tomorrow. But you will know when it arrives because it makes thew world feel different. You can literally sense the stuff.

Let’s all pool our resources. Spread this message to everybody you know, especially those with kids. It seems to be a favorite of student athletes, but all kids are potential statistics until this stuff is completely baned! Please help! Hydric acid is practially everywhere and it’s your duty to keep it out of your house! Just say no to hydric acid!

God bless all of you. I know you’re all smart enough to get the message and spread the word. I don’t like to be an alarmist, but this is really serious stuff. It could potentially destroy us all.

Thank you!

Image via Wikipedia

So am I insane or do I really see heaven in your eyes?
Bright as stars that shine up above you
In the clear blue sky, how I worry bout you
Just can’t live my life without you
Baby come here, don’t have no fear
Oh, is there wonder why
I’m really feeling in the mood for love

“Moody’s Mood For Love” FRANK Island Records 2003

The Sun newspaper reported that Amy Winehouse was drinking herself to death on July 9th 2011, amid fears from her ‘worried friends’. A source told the newspaper that “Amy is constantly out of control on vodka … drinking herself into oblivion”. I published an article, The Press, This Week, here on Triond in which I made a comment expressing my view of Amy’s ‘reported’ situation… A fortnight later, 23rd July 2011, she was found dead by her bodyguard, at her home in Camden, London. Instantly rumours spread like wildfire, that she’d died from a drug overdose. Yet her family and partner, Reg Traviss, insist she’d been free of drugs for three years and had stopped drinking weeks before her untimely death. An inquest has been opened and adjourned until around for weeks as to what actually killed her. For now, the cause of death is unknown.

I’m not a big Amy fan, but I largely respect and admire her talent. Miss Winehouse came to my attention at a MOBO awards ceremony, shortly after the release of her debut album ‘FRANK’ in 2003. Amy had a powerful voice and was a great songwriter, reflecting on our generation. Her second album ‘Back To Black’ 2006 (Island Records) turned her into a superstar, defining the ‘torn by love’ character she became in the public eye. A third ‘comeback’ album was in progress at the time of her passing and she left more than enough material for a CD to be released in her honour. However, it’s an absolute shame its success will now be because of her tragic demise and her iconism instead of being a success because she got through the Blake years, the drugs and was still able to produce quality music. Only 27, her music travelled far and wide across the world, deep and low into the souls of the many fans who listened to her.

Amy’s addictions were no secret. They ravaged, tortured and exploited her, putting her loved ones through hell. Anyone related, or a close friend of someone addicted to drugs and/or alcohol will sympathise with the pain and fear Amy’s family have been through unlike the cynics that argue that they didn’t do enough to help her. Watching a loved one self-destruct, rotting away in front of you, constantly deceiving you is a pain that never goes away and a battle that cannot be won unless the addict wants the help to change. For her family’s sake, I really hope the impending toxicology reports show she had no alcohol or drugs in her system. It’s ironic to think that she’d conquered her battles, in a bid to live life, only to be killed by the possible withdrawal of them. Also, for her loved ones it will prove that she hadn’t lied to and betrayed them one final time (as many recovering addicts do), with a secret binge.

Dear Amy, I hope you’ve finally found peace and self-worth now. In music heaven, you’re in the company with many of the best. Your music will outlast the mere 27 years you spent on earth, the uniqueness of your voice and your heart rendering lyrics constantly touching and inspiring others. I’ll miss your deep bluesy vocals, your quirky ways and carefree attitude. You went too fast and too soon. Be happy and be at peace.

DAMW (aka Lady Syxess)

This face in my dreams seizes my guts
He floods me with dread
Soaked in soul
He swims in my eyes by the bed
Pour myself over him
Moon spilling in
And I wake up alone

“Wake Up Alone” Back to Black

Amy Winehouse - a life plagued by problems with drug and alcohol abuse. Amy was warned that her self-destructive behaviours would eventually lead her to an early grave.

Amy Winehouse Was Bound To Die Young

A lot of people knew Amy Winehouse. How could they not, for her fame and success had spread rapidly and widely all over the globe. A lot of people knew of Amy Winehouse’s immense influence on the music industry. But they also knew that as talented and as young as she was she was bound to die at an early age. People knew this. Everybody knew this! The drugs were surely going to kill her someday.

Amy’s intense battles with drug and substance abuse throughout her career were the subjects of the media’s attention. People feared for her – her family, her friends and fans.

Amy constantly went through periods of heavy drug abuse, eating disorders, depression, violent mood swings and even self-harmed herself. She was hospitalized for heroin overdose, ecstasy overdose, cocaine overdose and severe alcohol intake.

Amy’s lifestyle was degenerating really badly and everybody saw it. Experts warned her time and again that she would die very early if she did not put a stop to the dangerous lifestyle she was living. But the young singer could simply not help herself.

Mitch Winehouse, the father of Amy once said that doctors had told him that if Amy did not stop smoking crack cocaine, she would have to wear an oxygen mask to sustain her life, but that wouldn’t even help and eventually she would die.

And die she did die eventually on 23 July 2011 at her home in Camden, London. She was only 27 years old.

Fame tends to have a dark side. A great deal of pressures that many are going to deal with in the wrong ways. Despite the demons being obvious, Amy Winehouse did not think that she had a problem. She was wrong.

Fame tends to be something that many seek but when they acquire it, they might not be able to handle the pressure. This leads to some extremely tragic and quite disturbing consequences for many of the famous people out there. Case in point, the latest celebrity tragedy that happened this past weekend.

Amy Winehouse Died At Age Twenty Seven.

The problems of Amy Winehouse were more than well known before this incident had occurred. The fact of the matter is that while there were some people who were saddened, I suspect that few were very surprised. There were people who tried to interject and send Winehouse into rehab, but she claimed that she did not need it. Perhaps those people wished that they had tried a little harder but there are times where rehab does not properly work as well as it should in theory. You can’t keep a person locked up forever, and when they return to the real world, they might just fall back into bad habits that they had previously gotten into.

Indeed Amy Winehouse will not be the first person to die all too young, nor will she be the last. As of this writing, the actual cause of death has not been determined, but obviously its not too hard to make a completely educated death. This is just one of the most drastic results of the price of fame and that price is something that can lead to the ultimate consequence, that being another tragic death.

Pressure can lead to deadly habits.

Take a normal person, with an every day job. There are many pressures in their life. They are relatively unknown, over ninety nine percent of the population of the world would not be able to pick them out of a police line up. That will not stop them from cracking eventually and turn to some habits that are not recommended. Normal people on the street can tend to crack due to everyday pressures getting to them and thus they turn to drugs. It is a harsh reality but some people just cannot handle pressure. Or they really try and handle it in all of the wrong ways.

So imagine that an average person is now a famous person. They have a base of fans, many of some have no concept of the term “privacy”. Then there there is the media, who has even less of an understanding of of the term “privacy”. A person who wants to do something more, can obviously be caught up in this nasty little web a lot of the time and can potentially turn to some quite deadly habits. This is not a way to deal with pressure, but some people just take the easy way out.

Not to mention the fact that portions of the media love a good tragedy. And they put out the problems of the people for the entire world to see. Sometimes there is slight embellishing, but really a lot of the harsh circumstances that celebrity’s really do write themselves. For the media there is no news like bad news and their constant exposing the personal lives of the celebrities cannot have certainly helped in some cases.

Not that is any excuse for people deciding to turn to drugs to cope, but just a reason why this might happen.

People think that they can quit at any time:

In general this is true for your average person, this is doubly true for celebrities. They just think a pill her, an injection here, or whatever, to allow them to get through that next appearance or that next tour. They will be able to easily stop a lot of the time. This is a disturbing mentality of a lot of drug users. They really have no concept of how much damage they are doing to themselves and how that is affecting a lot of the people around them.

The sad thing is the deeper that a person gets in, the harder it is to pull out. They get to the point where they just simply do not care and refuse to acknowledge that they need any help whatsoever. Even those who manage are forced into help and receive it, there is much long term damage that drugs are going to lead to. In many cases, the damage is already more than done.

You might think you are the one in control. However the drugs are in control, not you. That is the price of fame no matter how well you cut it.

Should the entertainment industry be drug tested

This is really a tricky little matter to deal with. I think that we can all agree that there is some type of drug problem in the entertainment industry. People are unable to make the proper choices in real life but entertainers should be held accountable whether they are in the music industry, television, or film. There are countless impressionable children that look up with some of these people like role models, teenagers as well when you really think about it.

Every time someone dies, people are rather saddened about it, but life does tend to go on after a time and while some people might be scared straight for a short time, most fall back into their bad habits. There needs to be some kind of accountability by those representing these entertainers. Yet, I do feel that the reality of the matter is that those who market these people do not honestly care about anything but their own bank accounts. As long as they make money a lot of the time, those in the various corners of the entertainment industry don’t really lose that much sleep about what state the people are. Not everyone is like that granted, but you get the impression that many are only out for the bottom line.

Not to mention that the work of entertainers will rise in value and demand after they are dead. That is really the stone cold reality of why there will not be any drug testing in the entertainment industry and why there will not be any serious reforms.

A matter of personal choice.

The price of fame can really be deadly in the end. Yet for all of the factors that enable drug use, whether it be a demanding fan base, a harsh and uncaring media, or the various industries that are out to exploit people regardless of their problems for a quick buck, there is only one person who pulls the trigger. Drugs are really a matter of personal choice and its not like the dangers of them are something that is a mystery. Its sad when it happens but its not like the signs are not there in many cases.

Amy Winehouse dead at age 27. Will not be the first person to suffer from the price of fame nor the last. In the end, her choices were the wrong choices and they spiraled her down to an all too early grave.

The ranting of an 18 year old on modern society.

I was sitting at school the other day, preparing for the last few weeks of my senior year when I realized that everything that I have accomplished in my life so far, things that seemed impossible, I had been able to overcome, and look at the things I want to accomplish, things that seem impossible now, and I was quite stunned and where I’ve gone. I had overcome the fear of losing family members to cancer, and other health related issues, and overcome all the adversity of changing schools and even experienced what I felt to be a personal growth from who I once was to who I am now. Life had seemed to be on auto-pilot for the greater half of a year, and it was until the day at school that I just leaned back, and just thought about my life.

It seems that most of us are troubled by something or another in our lives, and although we feel that these problems we face will haunt us forever, the truth is that the majority of these problems won’t even be in the back of our minds a few years down the road. Some problems may persist, this I will whole-heartedly agree with, such as the death of a loved one, or the discovery of one’s own personal mortality. Time has been told to heal all wounds, but there may always be some signs of scarring. This is to be expected in some circumstances. But if we put things into perspective of the rest of our lives, we find that problems that may have plagued us at a younger age-some the fear of “imperfect” skin, others the agony of a weight issue-more times than not, we realize that these problems will not affect us forever. Growing up in an area that most would consider to be lower class, I have witnessed these fears destroy the lives of many people that would have become great individuals had they overcome their fears, or just took the time to relax for a while. Some of these people had aspirations to become doctors, lawyers, firefighters, or even famous basketball stars(a few I know definitely seemed to have the talent), but somewhere along the path took a detour, which led them into a life they never deserved. Most of these people have now dropped out of high school, become drug addicts, commited suicide, or are constantly rebellious towards authoritative figures, ending up in jail/prison.

I have heard the argument that faulty parenting is to blame; after all, it MUST be the parents’ jobs to teach these children how to cope with the challenges of life. Although there is some truth in this, it isn’t just the fault of the parents, but of society itself. Our society is a fast-paced one; if you cannot keep up with the times, you are left for dead in a world of the constantly evolving. Fashion and fads change as often as an athlete changes shoes. For example, child-bearing is becoming more and more accepted at younger ages everyday now. What do we tell 16 year old Sally, whom just admitted to being pregnant for four months? The most common response is: “Congratulations! I bet you’re excited!” While most teenage pregnancies are not planned, it is still never a surprise when a friend I haven’t seen in a few years winds up having a 3 year old child, and usually these GIRLS are only 16-17 themselves. It obviously takes more than a woman to make a baby, and more often than not, it is the guy who pushes for intercourse to commence in the relationship, though lately I am beginning to see more women take the initiative, yet more proof of times continuously changing. Is it the fault of the media? Maybe it is our own faults for actually buying into the garbage that is played on television. I turned on the TV a few days ago to a show that is building popularity among my generation called “Jersey Shore,” and after watching the filth and stupidity that shows like this portray, I began to see why my generation is turning into what it has been. Obviously there were MANY shows that led up to this one, this is just an example of one of the many shows I watched that day, just researching modern fads.

Nearly every problem that gives rise to these actions may be easily dealt with if they are caught at an early enough time. Although drug-use may be an obvious problem that is hard to combat, targeting children at younger ages isn’t enough to keep them away from drugs. In the area I was raised, you weren’t really even taught anything about drugs until high school, and by that time the very name “high school” was exactly what it was: a school full of high children. It seems that it isn’t just lower class areas affected by this, either. Children with more wealthy parents tend to get hooked on certain drugs at younger ages than everyone else. Why, may you ask? Because they can afford it! It’s easy enough to tell your children to stop smoking, or not to try LSD, but be honest with yourself, most people have been curious at one time or another. I’ve never taken any drug, other than what was prescribed to me by my doctor, and I’ve still been curious one time or another. Its a curiosity of the unknown sensations that these drugs cause, and most people taking whatever they can find will only tell the good, and not the bad. The forget to tell you that you may end up with erectile dysfunction, HIV(from sharing needles), or Hepatitis from close contact with someone you don’t know that may also have it. There are plenty worse things that could happen. Personally, I think that the younger children can be taught about drugs, and shown the images of the lives destroyed, the better the chances the children will not do drugs. But of course, teenagers are stupid, damned if we would ever admit it, and will try just about anything, so long as we’ve heard its off limits. I’m entirely for freedom of expression, but only if that expression isn’t destroying the expressor, and their friends/family.

Violence, either domestic or not, has been on the rise, as well. Personally, I believe that these types of behaviors can almost always be stopped early in one’s life so that it doesn’t carry over into adulthood. We’ve all thought a horrible thought about someone at some point in our lives, and heck, I’m sure at least one person that is reading this just finished murdering someone in their minds, but its important to NEVER act on thoughts like these. Some blame violence in video games or movies as being the culprit, and to an extent I am with them. As games and movies both continue to grow more violent, and showing more carnage, I believe that violence will also spread. It isn’t entirely fair to blame games and movies on the violence in our society, but a combination of those, drugs, and environment hold a strong testament to what the individual will act like in their life. Say 8 year old Timmy has been playing a lot of gory games, and later sneaks into a bunch of gory movies, and these are all the games and movies he plays and watches, what do you think will be on his mind in 5 years? The majority of the time, gaming and movie tastes don’t change too drastically, and so Timmy is still into these. He also listens to death metal music, though I hate to degrade the term “music” with what has started to play on the radio, and is thinking of joining a band, like most teenage boys want to for some reason. Something goes wrong with the band, lets say the bassist gets angry and tries to quit. This angers Timmy, and so there is a fight. Just teenage violence, right? A year later and the band idea is dropped entirely. A few years later, Timmy still enjoys the same lifestyle as he did when he was little, but now he is married to a wonderful woman. A few months into the marriage, he begins to get angry when things aren’t done for him, and so what happens? Just like with his band, he lashes out at the person he believes is responsible, and so he beats his wife. This example may go on and on, so I will stop it here. The point is this: If the first signs of violence aren’t taken care of early, there is a CHANCE that it could snowball into something far worse. I am not saying that every person that had a violent streak when they were five will be a mass murderer, but if the violence is at least attempted to be controlled, you never know what will happen.

This article could go on and on about things that could be done to change society, but the point is that things are already as they are, and so they cannot be changed. Things will eventually change once again, anyway. Change is unstoppable, but I am hoping that the next dramatic shift of our society is a positive one. If you have any comments, concerns, opinions you’d like to express, whether it be about what I’ve said, or if you’d like to describe your thoughts of society, please feel free to comment, and as always, thanks for reading.

A horrible tragedy. China Arnold, a Dayton, Ohio woman could face the death penalty for this murder.

A Dayton, Ohio woman has been found guilty of killing her baby daughter by cooking her in a microwave oven. The woman is 31 year old China Arnold. She is been found guilty in her third trial of killing her 28 day old baby daughter Paris Talley. The killing took place in late summer of August.

At this point, China Arnold could receive the death penalty. The sentencing phase of this trial will begin Monday.

Prosecutors have said Arnold, 31, intentionally put the baby in the microwave after a fight with her boyfriend, whom she told that “the baby would still be alive if you had not cheated on me”. China was said to have been alone when the baby was placed in the oven. It was late at night and her other children were asleep. The baby woke her, and that is all she could take. Distraught and exhausted, she killed the baby.

Doctors and medical experts gave testimony during the trial that the baby died after her temperature reached 107 to 108 degrees. They also said that the baby was in the oven for more than two minutes, dying quickly afterward.

“She died because she was overheated,” said Dr. Marcella Fierro, retired chief medical examiner for Virginia. She was intentionally and maliciously killed.

Assistant Prosecutor Dan Brandt told jurors in that this killing was more purposeful and then he recalled how she had to place the baby inside, shut the door and press the buttons to start the oven. “Baby Paris is without life, but she’s not without a voice,” Brandt told jurors in closing arguments. “Please listen to her.”

The defense attorney argued that Arnold said “I killed my baby” and this left out important context: She only meant that she failed as a mother by allowing the crime to happen and not that she killed her child. Arnold also was very intoxicated, the defense stated.

Brandt said that Arnold admitted to police that the baby woke her up and that she was alone, beside her other sleeping children. There also were no signs of a break-in, he said.

China Arnold was a woman with children, tired and abusing alcohol. Where there no signs of the horrible distress that was occurring? There had to have been signs. This little baby would be a little kindergarten student now. She would be laughing and playing with friends. She could have been playing dress up, watching cartoons and learning to sing and jump rope. What a tragedy.

If you know a parent that could be in distress, help them out. Give them a break. Step in and help and be the person that stops a horrible incident like this from happening again.

Facing our problems head on is the best method.

Every single person who is alive is going to encounter troubles or problems in our lives. There is no way of getting around it. There is a saying that goes…”Everyone has problems, just different situations”. There are different ways that people use to cope with our problems. Some of us use prayer, others may exercise, talk to someone we’re close to, or choose a hobby to help get our minds off of them. Sometimes it involves all of these methods. These are all effective ways to deal with issues in my opinion. However, there are other methods that people use to cope that aren’t so healthy. Drug use, substance abuse, and alcohol are deadly methods to use when it comes to problems.

Like some of you who may read this article, I speak as someone who knows or is close to someone who uses the latter to deal with their problems. One thing that I’ve learned getting older is that, people often use band aids for their troubles. Instead of looking for permanent solutions to our problems, we would rather deal with them on a temporary basis. When a person gets high or drunk, it’s a temporary fix. When they sober up, the problems they are facing will still be there. This is not the recommended way of coping. These methods lead to addiction, illnesses and sometimes even death. As a society we must all learn to first acknowledge the issues we are dealing with. Tackling them head on is the best way of solving them.

So how do we cope and deal with the everyday stresses in our lives? Well I think there is no one single answer. It depends on you, your faith, and your beliefs. What works for me may not work for the next person and vice versa. One thing I believe for sure is that small steps are the best way. Instead of tackling a problem all at once, it’s best to sometimes take small steps to resolve it. It’s almost like trying to real a goal. Small steps daily lead to a bigger achievement. We all need to focus on our problems with clear minds. Alcohol and substance abuse clouds our judgement. There is always more than one way to solve a problem, and for every problem there is always a solution.
