I have motor processing dyslexia, and you will see through the articles I write through or on Triond will show that by incorrect spellings, even though I used the spell check.

The modern world is very slowly understanding sickness, health, problems, and disabilities such as dyslexia better as time goes on,BUT there are still people on this planet who are ignorant, and not informed about the problems people go through day by day with dealing with something like Dyslexia or any other thing like it.

Dysimia,ADHD,Dyslexia, and all the many other disabilities are real, and there are people who not only have to deal with these, but the people who think they are a joke,or failure. But these people fail to see that they are only obstacles people can get over,or around with the correct help, and support.

Ignorance in my opinion is a disability also, because a person is not informed, and in a lot of cases does not want to be,because they have been taught that if you are disabled in any way shape or form that you are not normal, slow, and stupid. This is not the case. The thing that would prevent people from getting around these things is people who are ignorant, and childish towards Dyslexia or any other disability by making jokes, and generally not being able to be able minded about these things.

Yes they are labeled as disability’s,but there are ways of working through them to not make them so,and disability is only a word,so do not sit there and feel sorry for yourself, because that is just as disabling,if not more disabling than the so called disability itself.

I never had the support I needed at school that I desperately needed, and I feel my parents could have fought for me to get it,but they didn’t. I was heart broken, and I still think about how my parents should have been in my high school making sure the school gave me what I needed to get the grades I knew I was capable of getting.

I saw two twin brothers in my year also with dyslexia get the help, and both got high grades dud to it. They where, and are proof that if support, and help is given the so called disability is in fact not a disability ,the lack of support, and help was indeed the thing that made the situation for me disabling. Both Peter, and Steven where bright people at school, and the help and support they got proved that. I did not get the help, and support I needed, that would have proved on paper through exams that I am just as bright.

I although can gladly say today that I am much more intelligent than my GCSE exams would suggest. I took it upon myself to learn times tables without that help I needed. I at that age did not know what to do or who to turn to. I felt, and still feel helpless about dyslexia.

I still catch myself making breakfast and putting dirty cutlery in the cutlery draw, because the right side or my brain works faster than the left, and in turn my mind gets confused,so it picks one of the place the cutlery should go to even if it is dirty, and should really go in the sink. Stuff like this is always a constant daily thing, and does not make me stupid. My brain just has two speeds, one side faster than the other.

Being slower than others is not a bad thing,it just means it take me slightly longer in some cases to get something. I may have to read slower, because my brain needs more time to process, and if you put me in a situation where there are to many people wanting something form me at the same times, while I am trying to write something important. The written work will look jumbled, and I will get angry, and confused. This is because my brain needs more time to sort things out than others. So if you leave me to do something in my own time,I will indeed do just a good job,or if not better than someone without dyslexia.

I play basketball, and have played several other sports in the past. I played American football for a couple of season, and we had to learn the play books. I was finding it hard, and nobody would help me,but if someone told me the running back is coming to my right side, and I need to make a gap,I knew every time that gap would be there. I could not see that on the paper. I needed someone to explain it to me. The first time I opened that gap,and our running back flew through the ole I left him,and he scored.the quarter back, and the running back looked at me and said,”that’s the type of player we need”. Explain it ti me,and I know I will get it right more than I would get it wrong. Much more.

I am capable of doing a lot of things. Never think just because I am dyslexic, I cannot do anything at all,and if you teach me so I can understand something I will be more than capable of doing that thing you are teaching me. I just needs more time than other to learn, and can learn just as well as anyone else just might take me a little longer.

I was in a job where I had to initial a certain area for a residents medication, and a few time because I had to many people trying to get my attention I put my initials in the wrong box, making other staff think I had given the resident the wrong medication, when really I had given the resident the correct one, because when the manager checked her medication I had indeed given her the correct one. This was found correct because of the number of each medication left of each one. They took me to a work tribunal because of it,and I had written on my application form that I submitted to gain employment, and nobody had realised. This was weird as the place of employment was for people with learning, and physical disabilities.

In turn they got a company to come help me perform better, but a false accusation was submitted about me which involved another worker. The incident that supposedly happened never happened because the worker was never there at the time it happened. The person had taken another resident out to the cinema. Whilst I was looking after the only resident at home that night, who decided to punch me,and try again was when this incident was meant to happen. Just goes to show even employers will do anything to get rid of someone. An employer who is apparently looking after people with learning, and physical disabilities got rid of me because of a learning disability.

Dyslexia is not something that needs to be cured,it is something that needs understanding, and given time. Just like an alcoholic needs time to recover, and become sober again. We all need help regardless of the situation in hand. Do not make it a problem you HAVE to deal with, make it something you need to make sure has a solution to make thing better for everyone involved. Why would you want to make someone suffer more?

I like most people with dyslexia need time to organise thing their way,or you will find that person in question will get frustrated, upset, and angry, because they are capable, but in their own way. I need to organise things my way,and you will find a lot of people with dyslexia like things a certain way. Even something like having food in the house,or toiletries. Organising something simple like a meal that has been cooked a million times, but there is missing ingredients because it is not in the house will make a lot of dyslexic people frustrated. Becca’s it comes to the time to cook and the ingredients are not there I know I get nervous, worried, and frustrated, because I have think faster than my brain can handle to try to think of something else to cook. This is especially when someone has finished something and has not told me. Pressuring someone with dyslexia is not good either, this can cause frustration, anger, and confusion.

Albert Einstein’s work had a lot of mistakes in it,and he is considered to have had motor processing dyslexia also. He is just one of many famous people who prove that only because you are dyslexic does not mean you are stupid. We just need more time than others in most cases.

So please when you come across someone with dyslexia,or any form of disability do not see the word disability, see a person who is able. Just not in the same way as you. Stephen Hawking is one example. He is one of the most intelligent people on this planet even though he is a wheel chair user, and needs to use a keyboard to talk for him. Has not stopped him one bit.

Dyslexia or a learning disability on a person's condition is caused by difficulties on the person in performing activities of reading and writing, was not only experienced by ordinary people, some even experienced public figure.

They are Albert Einstein, one of the inventors of the most influential figures in the world. The genius of the creator of the theory of relativity was apparently suffering from dyslexia. Orlando Bloom (actor), the formidable pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, it is also suffering from dyslexia. ”It takes great effort in the face of this disease,” he said when the story about his experiences growing up necessarily with the disease.

There is another Henry Winkler (film producer and actor), former Happy Days star is sharing her experience by taking part in the campaign asked the U.S. government’s efforts to give special attention to children with dyslexia. Fonze (actor), Vince Vaughn (actor) Wedding Crashers movie star also appeared to have difficulty in reading.

Keanu Reeves (actor), many never thought that this handsome actor was suffering from dyslexia as well. Even so, the difficulty in learning to balance it with his expertise in the field when the high school hockey. Billy Bob Thornton (actor and singer), Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband was also living with dyslexia, but he claimed never to surrender in the face of illness.

Robin Williams (actor), whatever their role, both as Mrs. Doubtfire or the Genie in Disney, Aladdin, Robin has been playing well and all of them impeccably. Who would have thought it was humorous man suffering from dyslexia. Tom Cruise (actor), one of the men in Hollywood also was dyslexic. He seeks to overcome the disease by undergoing scientology, which is related techniques developed by American author, L. Ron Hubbard for about 30 years, as a philosophy of self-contained self-rescue.

Do not think they are dyslexic? It turned out that dyslexia does not hamper their careers and accomplishments. The proof is in the process, yet they can be, Äúbesar, Äù, because it did not give in to circumstances. Well, there may be a need for us to find out more about dyslexia.

Dyslexia comes from Greek words, Äúdys, Äù which means trouble and, Äúleksia, Äù meaning of words. In other words, dyslexia means difficulty in processing the words. Daily Executive Chairman of the Dyslexia Association of Indonesia Dr. Kristiantini Goddess, Sp. A, explained, dyslexia is a disorder with a neurobiological basis of disorders and is characterized by difficulty in recognizing words with precise or accurate in spelling and the ability to encode a symbol.

Some early signs of congenital dyslexia is late to talk, no clear articulation and upside down. In addition, the difficulty of studying the shape and sound of the letters, confusion between the concepts of space and time, and difficulty digesting verbal instructions, quick, and sequential.

At school age, most people with dyslexia may have difficulty combining letters into words, difficulty reading, and difficulty holding a fine stationery. And, many people who have dyslexia or they may not know if they are one people with dyslexia.

Children with dyslexia is difficult to read, spell, write, that she could not understand a mathematical problem. This causes the child to feel embarrassed and unsure of himself to come among my friends in class. Opportunities to be found in dyslexic boys and girls equally. Dyslexia is a disorder that can be passed down to future generations.

“When you’re dyslexic, your child has a chance to experience 50 percent,” said Dr John Rack of Dyslexia Action agency, quoted from the site Female first. According to John, the diagnosis of dyslexia is usually done at the age of 7-8 years. However, the actual symptoms of dyslexia can be seen from the age of 3-4 years.

Signs of dyslexia in pre-school age, among others, rather mixed up words and phrases, difficulty learning the rhyme (repetition of sounds) and rhythm (rhythm), it is difficult to remember a name or an object, the late development of language skills, like read a book, but no interest in letters or words. It is also difficult to get dressed.

As for the signs of dyslexia in primary school age are difficult to read and spell, frequently exchanged between the letters and numbers, it is difficult to remember or learn the alphabet table, it is difficult to understand the text is read, the writing is slow, difficulty concentrating, difficulty distinguishing right and left, or sequence days a week. In addition, a low confidence level, and still have difficulty in dressing.

When a child is diagnosed with dyslexia, he should receive extra support in school from a specialist teacher. Usually this can be done with the help of intense reading and writing lessons. But dyslexia does not have to stop the children to continue learning.because actually it will not cause any significant effect, because their brains work differently. In fact, some people with dyslexia have high creativity, ability to speak a good, innovative thinker or an intuitive search solution.

Oh, Did I Mention Daniel Ratcliff Has It? and Me?

Its not Dyslexia, its Dyspraxia!

Now, for years, I have known I was different, I just didn’t know what it was. Everyone mistook my symptoms of clumsiness, lack of concentration and stammering to being Dyslexia. Far from it! Dyslexia causes words to be a jumble! But I could read and write and add numbers! I just couldn’t stay awake, and focused too much on little things instead of the big picture!

I can now hold my head up high, not only knowing what Dyspraxia is, but also knowing that Daniel Ratcliff has it.

The Harry Potter actor claims “I was rubbish at everything at school.” Lucky him for landing into filming then. Apparently, he still has trouble tying his shoelaces, and has heard to remark to the Daily Mail. “Why oh why has Velcro not taken off?”

There is no obvious cause for Dyspraxia, but in my case it could be exacerbated from my mild Asthma. It can affect any or all areas of development, including intellectual, physical and language, and can impair a person’s normal process of learning. If severe, it could create difficulty for persons to walk and down stairs or run, hop, jump or kick a ball. Up to 10 per cent of people in Britain show signs of the condition, with about 2 per cent severely affected. Although its more likely to affect men than women, You tube is growing its followers of Dyspraxia suffers including a few girls.

Yet, there is still no large body to represent Dyspraxia sufferers. The only group I am aware of are in North Yorkshire. I live in Hertfordshire for Christ sake. We need a government body to help us! Come on! We are here! Do something Daniel.

Dyslexia is one of the most common learning disabilities people experience...

Dyslexia is one of the most common learning disabilities people experience. Dyslexia is defined by the International Dyslexia Association as “a specific learning disability that is neurological in origin.” Those with Dyslexia have difficulties with word recognition and by also by poor spelling habits.

Individuals who have been diagnosed with Dyslexia have difficulties in both reading and writing even though all seem to have the motivation needed to learn to read. Although people with dyslexia have trouble understanding words they read, they usually can understand the same words when they are read aloud by another person, which has to be frustrating!

For years upon years the researchers cannot place a finger on the specific cause of Dyslexia, however it is a common belief that the problem stems during the brain development stages and in the manner in which the brain processes information. Further, it is thought that that genetics plays an integral part, as well. Dyslexia is not caused by a physical disability, such as vision or hearing problems. Many people with dyslexia have average or above average intelligence. Basically, the brains of people with dyslexia have a hard time receiving, organizing, remembering or using information.

People diagnosed with Dyslexia are found to have difficulties with (1) Identifying words; (2) Understanding and remembering what they read; (3) Recognizing the sounds which make up words; (4) Reading printed or written words into spoken words; (5) Spelling; (6) Organizing sequential thoughts; and (7) Learning the alphabet during pre-school. There are more symptoms and signs, however these are the most recognized and most common of traits.

People with Dyslexia tends to reverse or misread letters or words and it is common for them to switch the order of words in a sentence. Due to this problem, people who have been diagnosed with Dyslexia generally read very slow and hesitate more often than others without the disease.

There is no single test to diagnose Dyslexia, so there are tests which are used to do certain evaluations of children. The tests are administered by psychologists and educational specialists and use language, behavior, academic quiz’s to determine if Dyslexia is prevalent.

Most children with Dyslexia can be very successful in their academic and professional quests despite that Dyslexia is a lifelong disability. The outlook for each child with Dyslexia depends on how severe the disability is, how early it is diagnosed and the quality of the treatment. Further, it goes without saying, that the more assistance they receive from their parents, their teachers and therapists the better they do in adulthood.

It was a well-known fact that decades ago, before there were televisions, radios, or computers, men only had one form of leisure, reading. Our ancestors just read to keep themselves abreast with what is going on with their surroundings. They read so they can travel and experience the world. But with the influx of modern technology such as the Internet, cell phones and electronic games, the younger generations have somehow placed the skill and virtue of reading at a back seat. Many young people have lost the passion and skill to read and, instead, they waste their time and resources by playing video games or hanging out in the mall.

It has been observed that children and teenagers who love reading have comparatively higher IQs. They are more creative and do better in school and college. The children who start reading from an early age are observed to have good language skills, and they grasp the variances in phonics much better.

But while other kids developed the love for reading and learned it easily, there are others who seem to have difficulties in engaging in this type of normally stimulating activity. These children are often diagnosed as suffering from a form of disability called dyslexia. Dyslexia is an impairment in the brain’s ability to translate written images received from the eyes into meaningful language. Also called specific reading disability, dyslexia is the most common learning disability in children. It is affecting 5 percent or more of all elementary-age children.

A child who has dyslexia might start out doing fine in school. But gradually, it can become a struggle, especially when reading becomes an important part of schoolwork. A teacher might say that the child is smart, but doesn’t seem to be able to get the hang of reading. If a teacher or parent notices this, the best thing to do is to go to a specialist who can help figure out what’s wrong.

Dyslexia can be difficult to recognize before a child enters school, but some early clues may indicate a problem. If your young child begins talking late, adds new words slowly and has difficulty rhyming, he or she may be at increased risk of dyslexia. Dyslexia may occur in children with normal vision and normal intelligence. Children with dyslexia usually have normal speech, but often have difficulty interpreting spoken language and writing.

The cause of dyslexia seems to be a malfunction in certain areas of the brain concerned with language. The condition frequently runs in families. Treatment plans for children who have a specific reading disability should follow a sequence. The first intervention that should be tried, particularly with young children, involves systematically teaching word decoding skills. These are generally called phonics-based intervention approaches. There are many variants of phonics-based approaches and no research indicating that one approach is superior to another.

Dyslexia, as a learning disability is a condition that produces a gap between someone’s ability and his or her performance. Most people with dyslexia are of average or above-average intelligence, but read at levels significantly lower than expected. It has nothing to do with IQ; many smart, accomplished people have it, or are thought to have had it, including Winston Churchill and Albert Einstein. Dyslexics are unusually insightful, who bring a new perspective, who think out of the box.

Without the needed support for dyslexics, dyslexia can snuff out dreams at an early age, as children lose their way in school, fall into depression, then lose their self-esteem and drive. Dyslexics don’t outgrow their problems, and reading and writing usually remain hard work for life. However, with proper teaching, counseling, and adept tutoring, they do learn to manage.

Reading deficiency has many alias names. They are reading backwardness, reading retardation, reading disability and reading underachievement. Reading deficiency is a condition where children do not have skill to understand or comprehend texts or passages.

Reading deficiency on children

Children who suffer from this problem will face difficulty in learning at schools. Children who are late to catch up their lesson in reading may suffer from reading deficiency. Researchers and experts still have different opinions about this disorder. Some of them say reading backwardness, reading disability, and reading retardation. Reading deficiency is a condition where children do not have skill to understand or comprehend texts or passages.

Even though there are some labels for reading deficiency, researchers can analyze factors which cause the problems. In fact there are two major factors. First, they are biological and linguistic issues. These factors are from children themselves. Second, that is external factors which come from children social life like parents and family.

There are some names of reading deficiency on children.

Alexia

Alexia is reading retardation. Children who suffer from this can not read at all.

Dyslexia

Dyslexia is lower level of Alexia.

Agrafia

Agrafia is inability to write. Children who suffer from this do not write at all.

Disagrafia

It is lower level of Agrafia. Children will face much problem in writing.

Dyslexia is caused by language retardation. Children, whose problems in verbal communication, will also own problems in reading and writing skill. L G Alexander an author of practice and progress, Longman in his preface gave pictures as follow. Verbal skill precedes speaking skill, speaking skill precedes reading skill, and reading skill precedes writing skill.

When educators and parents find their children suffer from this disease, they can analyze the matters using L G Alexander’s opinion. Are the children skilled enough in oral communication skill or they have biological and linguistic disorders? If the biological problems do not exist , children may have social life that does not support their reading skill to improve.

Plowden Comission ( 1964) England, underlined a conclusion of a research. The conclusion is that the major factor which influence children achievement at schools is from parents(Tampubolon, 1933. Mengembangkan Minat dan Kebiasaan Membaca pada Anak, Bandung, Angkasa).

Children whose parents like reading and studying are better schools.

Dyslexia or reading deficiency is not going to be a big problem if parents and educators can detect children’s problem quickly. Soon, parents know the problems, they have to do an action to give special treatment. Children who suffer from low level of dyslexia may not be getting worse when they obtain more attention and good treatment.

Do you see a DVD movie lately?

I have seen one, it’s a feel good movie from Bollywood (Indian-Hindi movie).

It is about a condition called Dyslexia. A boy having a condition characterized by a difficulty in recognizing letters and numbers rendering him unable to read and write. He became the laughing stock to his friends, teachers, classmates and even to his family. But, he had undiscovered special hidden talents. Just the same, everyone misunderstood him. The boy always felt alone and aloft, thus made him to skip or worse, absent from his classes. to his erring father this is a disgrace to him.

With this, his family decided to transfer him to a strict boarding school. To his dismay, his condition worsened due to the fact that he was away and far from his family. Even the school have decided to boot him out, until a teacher discovered and analyzed his condition, and recognized his hidden and discovered talent. The teacher, eventually volunteered to tutor and inspire the boy to work hard in his studies. The boy responded and made remarkable improvements. His family could not believe this, specially his father who expected to much from his children.

The teacher disclosed that he too had the same situation as the boy when he was still young.

In the end, the boy and his teacher’s efforts were given due recognition by the school and a better and brighter future is ahead of him.

Every parent should watch this and for all those who dictate their way with their children this will be a great lesson.

The title of the movie is, “Every Child is Special”.

An article describing a form of dyslexia.

Dyslexia is a learning disability. It is also known as a developmental reading disorder. When a person has dyslexia they tend to read letters backwards and upside down, etc. This is because the brain can’t process the words properly. It can also happen with numbers. In some cases, a person can have both of these problems in one shot.

It is uncommon for most people to understand the severity of dyslexia. Some people will think you are lazy when it comes to math, especially if you are dyslexic with numbers yet happen to be a voracious reader. It isn’t uncommon for this to happen, it just isn’t talked about much.

So why do I know so much about dyslexia with arithmetic? Have you not figured it out by now? Okay, well I have the disorder. I wasn’t officially diagnosed with it but I do have trouble reading numbers which makes me less efficient with math. It has also gotten me fired from jobs… I also have been called lazy and told I only gave up math. From ignorant people like these, their ignorance in that area causes them to think that way. After all, I am a voracious reader yet math I always have trouble with. I have trouble speaking at times too which is another form of dyslexia and another reason why I don’t speak very much usually. I think my chronic chest pains have something to do with that as well, but I am not sure.

I remember one time my dyslexia in math really got me in trouble. I faced discrimination due to my learning disability. I tried to get a job at a certain supermarket. The owner of that store somehow found out about my learning disability. He asked “Have you gotten over your dyslexia yet?” I was stunned. Needless to say, I never obtained the job. There is a lot more to that too, but that will be in my comic if you continue to read it when I put new pages up…

One thing that people usually say is that ‘what is the difference between a Disorder and a Disability’? To put simply yes there is a difference.

Below is a small explanation of each condition,

DISORDER: A medical condition where a disturbance towards the functionality to the mind and body

DISABILITY: A condition been diagnosed by a professional where the person effected has difficulty in engaging in the normal activities of everyday life.

Whatever disorder and disability a person has does not matter, either way it affects the mind and how you live your life. This article is not supposed to diagnose any one all this article does is give the difference between the two and what is involved.

What is Learning Disorder?

In this article, we are going to see what a learning Disorder is, we will cover learning disability in another article. Learning disorders is where people young and old have difficulty in academic areas for instance reading, writing, mathematics or all three of them; these disorders affect the ability to achieve every day academic living. One other disorder is of fine motor skills, this is not touched in this article.

People who have learning disorder have trouble in acquiring, retaining as well as processing information. Unfortunately, test shows that people who have disorders are below their IQ range in the area they have issues.

Disorder in Reading

This disorder is one of the most common areas, people with this have difficulty in understanding letters and putting them on paper in words, also known as Dyslexia. It means that they also can’t recognize and decode sounds and syllables in language in general

Disorder in Mathematics

With mathematics the problems is always with numbers, people who have this cannot recognize and count number the way they supposed to. This disorder usually is picked up when you are a child in elementary school; also, this disorder is normally linked with reading and Dyslexia.

Written expression Disorder

This is very similar to Dyslexia and mathematics disorder as well as reading, so therefore it covers that and spelling, punctuation, grammar as well as organizing their thought in writing.

Processing disorders with information

Again, this links up with the other types of disorders that I have mentioned previously, people with this problem have trouble processing the input they receive from their brains specifically sight and sound. These people can see as well as hear 100% however they do have problems in knowing the difference between visual and auditory signals and processing it.

Please do not use this to diagnose yourself or anyone else. This is hear because of information purposes only, please if you do see a problem do not wait go, see a professional, and get it sorted as quickly as possible. The sooner you find out the easier life will be.
