People do not care about the environment.

The public are not concerned in the surrounding environment. Environmental degradation and natural disasters is suspected to be the impact of public attitudes are increasingly ignoring the condition of the earth. Moment of Earth Day on April 22, is expected to grow the awareness of all parties to be able to improve it.

Director Muria Research Center (MRC) Indonesia Mochamad Widjanarko said Earth Day is time no longer carried out exclusively ceremonial. It is more important to do that is encourage people to be more empathetic in nature.

“It can be interpreted in different ways,” he added, Sunday (22/4). One of the things that can be done for example by not exploiting the natural resources that can lead to disaster.

“We have to conduct a more friendly environment for example through re-use, re-place, re-think and re-cycle,” he explained.

The same thing was also expressed by the Chairman of the Review of Action for the Rescue of Nature and Culture (TREAD) Agus Sunartko. He added, earth day, announced by one of the environmental activists, who are also U.S. senator Gaylord Nelson in 1970, not a ceremonial event.

At that time, public awareness to be able to care for and protect the environment must be truly enhanced. “Without this awareness, the quality of the environment will be minor and would impact on all humans who inhabit the earth,” he said.

April 22 was celebrated as Earth Day.

Sunday, April 22 was celebrated as Earth Day. But why limit to just one day. Earth is the only planet which we can call our home. Even if there is some other planet, it may take centuries to relocate (yeah I am watching a lot of sci fi movies) but till then we have got just one home. Do you bit to save it.

Earth – the only planet where water exists in liquid state

We all know earth is called the blue planet – do you know why, because the oceans combined without atmosphere makes the planet look blur from outer space.

Coal fired power plants - the biggest source of carbon mono-oxide emissions – a serious threat to our environment.

India is the 12th mega diverse countries, the rich biodiversity holds unique wildlife, flora and fauna.

No better way to rouse Earth Day sensibilities into a passerby that is this cheap and quick.

A lot of folks are apathetic about Earth Day. These mocking epithets will be certain to rouse the down-to-earth sensibilities into a decent percentage of passerby.

Kill the planet and destroy yourself.

Throw litter on the planet and on your mother – work your way back to being an insect.

Disrespect the planet, yourself, your life, the universe and everything all with one toss of the paper.

Either stop tossing junk food bags or convince the manufacturers to make stuff that the wildlife can use better.

Toxify the planet, increase gas mask sales.

We could ruin the planet and shorten our life spans at the same time.

The environment is the economy, stupid!

Epigrams for Earth Day

Love the planet like you love your parents.

Thou shalt honor thy mother and father and their planet.

Littering the world is disrespecting your parents and your children and the Lord thy God.

A description of Earth Day, and a recent history of it.

Earth Day is what the name is: a day when everyone is supposed to go that extra mile to preserve the Earth. In reality, it is little more than a weak attempt at an ever-growing problem. The few people who actually attempt Earth Day unfortunately make little difference. It does help, somewhat, with helping the citizens realize some small things that they can do to make a difference.

Earth Day was originally created by a U.S. Senator from the state of Wisconsin, Gaylod Nelson. He had just seen the horrible effects fo the massive 1969 oil spill in Santa Barbara, California. With numerous movements starting up, such as the anti-war movement, he called for the same about Mother Earth. Nelson requested that an environmental health day would be held on April 22 of 1970. Just in that year alone, nearly 20 million people attended and participated. Becuase of this, it was held the next year, and the year after that.

Today, nearly a total 500 million people around the world participate, in over 175 countries. Despite the fact this may seem like a large number, it is small compared to what we could do. If everyone did their part, this world could be a much better place.

A group of presidents and prime ministers are gathering together in Rio de Janeiro to discuss the ways we can save our planet from ultimate destruction.

This year, 2012, Earth is having once again, another Earth Day. In the next couple of months in the month of June in the city of Rio de Janeiro, over one hundred and twenty leaders of the world are gathering in the same spot to hold a conference that could save the lives of billions now and for tomorrow. The program is named the Rio+20 Earth Summit but the sad part about the situation is that not many people are putting much effort into the program.

The country that has decided to put the most effort into this program is the United States of America. There’s a list of thoughts that back up the Earth Summits. This will be the twentieth anniversary. As many of us understand, we as humans are destroying this planet with all of the demands we are asking for for our personal selves including our homes, cars, and appliances, to our businesses and transportation systems. What’s sad about this situation is that if we continue to destroy our planet like we are doing, oceans will shift causing loss of land and cities, pollution will cloud amongst our future children, and the climate will dramatically change.

The Rio Earth Summit use to be quite the news breaker. But once the world started noticing that the meeting every year would miss its promises and just become more about talking, the fans faded away. The United States is stepping up the plate and promising changes to the meeting and its promises to Earth’s future. Supposedly the United States has a couple of promises for the upcoming meeting that would save humanity.

The Natural Resources Defence Council is deciding to implement a Rio online system for people around the world to check in on and converse with each other about what’s going on. The Rio Summit this year will be discussing apart from hundreds of Earth saving topics, clean energy, oceans, and green economic careers. It’s never to late to start caring.

This Earth Day, is there a way to combat climate change in the way we source our foods, particularly seafoods?

With Earth Day 2012 fast approaching, it’s time to ask ourselves whether there are any ways that we can change the impact of human beings on the environment that we may have previously overlooked. When we talk about our “carbon footprint,” most people think about the gas-guzzling, carbon-belching cars and SUVs that pack our highways, but we forget that it’s actually the agricultural industry, specifically the animals we raise for food, that may be contributing the most to climate change.

Think about it: the same amount of grain that could feed hundreds of people is used just to feed one cow or pig raised for meat. That’s a huge cost in grain that must still be grown, and of course there’s the environmental impact of animal husbandry that can pollute streams and groundwater.

As Ted Danson wrote on HuffingtonPost.com today, meat costs a LOT to produce and results in tons of waste and pollutants entering the Earth’s atmosphere. Take pigs, for example:

In order to raise these pigs, they must be fed. And like all living things, what goes in must come out. This waste alone releases vast amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere – a potent mix of 60 to 70 percent methane and 30 to 40 percent carbon dioxide. Methane traps twenty-three times more heat in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide and that’s one of the reasons why agriculture is the world’s single biggest contributor to global warming. We’re not talking about a little waste here either. The 10 million pigs in North Carolina for instance, create more sewage than the residents of North Carolina, California, Pennsylvania, New York, Texas, New Hampshire, and North Dakota combined. Most of this waste isn’t processed. It’s kept in open-air lagoons that pump out greenhouse gases into the atmosphere like it’s going out of style. (source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ted-danson/wild-seafood-an-unlikely_b_1441784.html)

Luckily, there is another great protein source out there that doesn’t require any land, any grain, or any fresh water – wild seafood. If we can find a way to sustainably fish the world ocean’s supply of fish, something that doesn’t occur too often today, we could find the key to feeding a growing world population in a way that will allow us to save the space and energy that farming so many animals for meat would.

And the best part is, seafood is already a popular and delicious way to dine, so it may not be difficult for people to focus more and more of their diet on this delicious and nutritous lean protein source! Fish can be prepared in a variety of ways to appeal to any taste, be it steamed, baked, broiled, or my favorite, deep-fried Calabash style. Crabs, shrimp, white fish, pink fish like salmon; man could thrive on little else and if we learn to sustain wild populations of these valuable natural meat sources we could head off a major crisis before it comes to pass.

As we look for ways to reduce our impact on the Earth and reflect on how far we’ve come and our future challenges this Earth Day, pop some fish in your mouth and talk to your friends about wild seafood.

Mobilise the Earth, is committed to you! The Sustainable Future, consistently act. All have at the table. Anyone can get involved.

We want to enjoy the progress and brilliant technique. But let’s be fair. Everyone on this earth is to share. We continue to live lavishly. Despite all the warnings, energy, water, raw materials, earth to be wasted, even before we have something like this. But we have to pay the bill anyway. This waste is not only expensive, they are destroying our livelihoods and resource base.

“True, the treasures of the Earth! Mobilise the Earth!” That’s the motto of Earth Day 2012th

In the course of the depletion of natural resources of the earth materials are becoming an increasingly important and increasingly valuable asset. For example, among the “rare earths” the most valuable commodities in the world. They have exceptional properties and are indispensable for the sustainable future of technology. But so far, lead extraction and processing of rare earths to massive environmental damage – a prime example of wasted resources and pollution. That needs to change radically! Clean and friendly mining, efficient and sustainable use, maximum recycling and global fair distribution are the focus.

“The treasures of the earth mean the variety of all life,” said Earth Day President Thomas Dannemann, “which will also include the unique biodiversity, the richness of the natural resources of land and water on all continents of this earth, we must not allow that individual interests dominate! “

High efficiency means profit!

We need not only huge increases in the productivity of energy, raw materials and transport. We need the highest efficiency for energy and raw materials. For saving resources means profit.

Efficiency has explosive power. Metals, water, oil, natural world and local consumption are subject to an arms race. Who tried to innovate ingenious efficiency gains and not only its independence.

We need goals and standards!

Earth Day to call: we need objectives for sustainable living. Rio +20 in 2012 to be the turning point. Really!

The Earth Summit “Environment and Development” in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 has created a common platform for all countries in the world by the Agenda 21. It commits national governments to the sustainable objectives of the 40 chapters of Agenda 21 locally to implement, in cooperation with local authorities and all citizens, social groups, associations and companies in the industry. Lot has happened since then. But not enough! 20 years after the Earth Summit in Rio, in June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro at the UN conference, “Rio plus 20″ took stock.

Now everyone on Earth Day is called “Committed to you – Mobilise the Earth!”

We need clear goals for maximum resource efficiency and sustainable industrial development at the highest level. Especially the companies in the world economy are the requirements for sustainable goals.

“Pushing the limits! Order to accelerate sustainable industries and sustainable industrial development, it requires effective measures,” Earth Day President Thomas Dannemann emphasizes the occasion of Earth Day 2012th “People should know what an honest, viable, sustainable strategy in the company indicating the tone.”

Consider use of fair trade and the environment should not be the end of the “beautiful” life. What really counts is the reduction of our footprint on this planet. Waiver is for us to recognize the use of new technologies, common sense, continuous learning to the contexts of our life on earth and care for our earth. Better quality of life means buy wisely and strategically, saving bio-products from the region, ecological clothing, travel, protect the climate, the buildings energy and renewable energy sources that make the economy legs. Environmental awareness means profit. These are the positive aspects of a new lifestyle.

Environmental awareness should aim at a progressive, pleasurable, responsible and modern living.

Creates incentives for environmentally friendly living in the greater city. Give the new species of animals and plants survive. Uses the sun in the canyons of skyscrapers. Breaks the seals on the inner cities and to give priority natural areas in the city center. Creates a lot more privileges for pedestrians and bicycles invested and where resources are used sustainably efficient: all of this with minimum negative impact on the environment.

Earth Day is held annually on 22 April is to take place in over 150 countries. The Earth Day slogan, “Think globally, act locally”, should make it clear that this is not just about today’s well-being of people. Healthy soil means healthy environment and livable place for the future. This means a realization of the vision of the UN Earth Summit in Rio in 1992 in the cities and towns, the place of residence.

every Earth Day to find a variety of actions on “climate change” instead. The Earth Day Stuttgart Coordination Unit of the Institute Dr. Flad organizes the events in Stuttgart with the participation of organizations like the Environmental Protection Agency, the Agenda Office, various environmental groups such as the ADFC, Greenpeace, Stuttgart, solar, UNICEF and schools as Hegel-Gymnasium and Merz school.

Stars like Leanordo DiCaprio and Jane Fonda, leading experts from the UN and politicians such as former U.S. Vice President Al Gore are advocates of the global Earth Day activities take place findenen on climate change.

The sun, whose energy, having helped life evolve and nurtured it, will eventually destroy the inner solar system, including whatever remains on Earth at the time.

April 22nd will of course be the next Earth Day, so stop and think for a moment about just how fragile our home world actually is. Many people prophesy so-called doomsday scenarios approaching, but in reality the only absolutely certain end of the world will happen when our sun reaches the end of life as a star.

Whether or not anything resembling humanity will be there at the end – 4-5 billion years time – is debatable, but the end will indeed be fiery, because our sun, as a so-called main sequence star burns hydrogen at the core, it to make the heavier element helium and generating energy, providing the Earth with the necessary energy for life to thrive, as it has for the last 5 billion years or so.

As, toward the end, it starts to run out of hydrogen, the rate of fusion reactions will start to slow, creating less of the outward radiative pressure that counters countering the massive gravitational forces of the sun. This will make the core shrink, condensing helium atoms, which will eventually start to fuse, creating heavier elements.

Vast amounts of energy get generated at this point, causing the star involved radically heat up and expand, becoming a so-called Red Giant many times the original size, so much so that, in the case of our own sun, the expansion will swallow Mercury, Venus and, possibly even the Earth, though all life, atmosphere and oceans will have been vaporized long before that.

I can appreciate that this seems pretty horrific, but in all honesty, this is all just the natural life cycle of a star like the sun, whose energy, having helped life evolve and nurtured it, will eventually destroy the inner solar system, including whatever remains on Earth at the time.

It is perhaps for that reason that we ought to really think about the earth we inhabit, and the damage out thoughtless actions as a species have been inflicting upon it for several centuries now. that untold catastrophic climate changes have occurred during the unimaginable aeons of earth history, the ones that truly concern us should be those of the here and now.

We still have the ability to make societal changes world-wide that will counter all the negatives of the past – with universal support and co-operation – but it is imperative that we genuinely grasp the nettle hard before the consequences of earlier reckless human behaviour become a runaway force that we are helpless to counter.

Think about these things on Earth Day, as you settle to enjoy your breakfast. That we are here at all is an accident of circumstance, the planet on which our species evolved having luckily been in just the right place to be an eventual breeding ground for life, but the earth is so finely balanced, in all respects, that our thoughtlessness could well provide that shove that will ruin the ecological status quo, driving all life on earth to the brink.

Earth Day should be about celebrating the natural splendour that is all around us, and helping to maintain the correct balance of nature by taking far more care about what we do and how we do it. Our planet is all we have as a home – until inter-galaxial space travel becomes a reality, if ever – so we simply have to take better care of it, or we might ourselves be just as doomed as the planet itself, though probaly surviving nowhere near as long.

22nd April 2012 is Earth Day - take part in the annual campaign to raise awareness and inspire change on environmental issues.

Are you one of the over 1 billion people worldwide who mark Earth Day on 22nd April each year? Earth Day is the world’s largest civic observance, uniting people of all backgrounds, cultures and faiths in a massive campaign to encourage awareness and activism on environmental issues. The day has been marked since 1970, and each year plays a vital role in reminding individuals and communities of the importance of preserving the planet.

Over the years Earth Day (and the associated international Earth Day Network) has pushed for action on all manner of “green” issues, from climate change and pollution, to access to clean water and greener workplaces and schools. Most recently, their efforts have focused on the “A Billion Acts of Green: Renewable Energy for all Campaign.” This massive global campaign aims to raise awareness of the small things each person can do to make a difference to the environment by encouraging individuals and groups to register their “acts of green” throughout the year.

The campaign started on Earth Day 2011, with the goal being to reach one billion registered acts of green in time for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development being held in Rio in June 2012. This ties in neatly with the theme for Earth Day 2012 – “Mobilise the Earth.” The idea is that this represents a chance for every person in the world to tell their government that environmental issues can no longer be ignored but must be dealt with immediately – that in terms of the health of the planet, time is running out.

People are taking part in a variety of ways, through actions small and large, symbolic and practical. Some people are pledging to drive less, or stop using disposable plastic bags, while others are organising festivals, signing petitions, and otherwise campaigning for change. The emphasis is on simple, everyday actions that have an impact, but also on education, communication, and otherwise joining forces to increase awareness and achieve change.

A great example of people dedicated to raising awareness are our friends in the Philippines who are taking part in the National Geographic Earth Day Run 2012 – a challenging race through Bonifacio Global City, in the Metropolitan Manila area. Entrants have the option of running a 3k, 5k, 10k or very impressive 21k route – now that’s dedication to the cause! If you have friends taking part, take advantage of mobile rates that offer cheap calls to the Philippines in order to ring them up and show your support. Or better yet, get involved in Earth Day yourself – visit the Earth Day website for ideas and to find events in your area. The more people involved, the better the chances of making a real impact, and finally setting the planet on a permanent path toward a more sustainable future.

Earth day was first celebrated April 22nd 1970th with mass demonstrations for the environment, which was attended by more than 20 million people. The idea of celebrating Earth Day was introduced by John McConnel at the UNESCO Conference 1969. Same year he designed the Earth flag. Officially, this day marks since 1992.

Each year on the 22nd of April over billion people in more than 157 countries around the world celebrate Earth Day as a global movement aimed to protect the environment and natural resources of our planet.
The purpose is to warn of the danger that threatens life on Earth due to the rapid development of industry and increased consumption of energy, which lead to the release of large quantities of toxic substances into the atmosphere and the increased use of fossil fuels.
Modern society is simply inconceivable without gasoline, oil and coal, which is dominated by the industrial world and are the main cause of global warming.

According to Earth Day Organisation, this year Earth Day is celebrated under the slogan “Mobilize the Earth” to emphasize the important fact that the Earth will not wait. Campaign for Earth Day 2012th was designed to provide people the opportunity to unite their voices and thus further strengthen the movement for environmental protection and provide renewable energy for all and sustainable future for Earth. The movement consists of individuals of all ages and from all parts of the world at local, national and international level, with emphasis on the cessation of the use of fossil fuels and turning renewable energy, improving energy efficiency and taking actions that energy becomes available to everyone.

One of the main goals of this year’s campaign is “A billion acts of green” which main goal is reaching one billion acts of green until the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio 20) in June 2012. year begins, which will then be presented.

During the month of April (and especially April 22nd) Earth Day Network and its partners worldwide will organize a campaign to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the Earth.

Every year the world consumes over 500 billion plastic bags, of which 99% ends up in the seas, oceans, rivers and lakes which kills hundreds of thousands of animals because trash is being mistaked for food.

Start from yourself and how great Gandhi said: “Be the change you want to see! “
