Image via Wikipedia

Despite rumours to the contrary, global warming is still with us. A report from the U.N. in 2007 stated with a 90% certainty that the major causes of this warming are man-made; so people can take steps to slow this change and combat climate change. In the last 5 years this situation has not changed, although people have continued to take small steps towards reducing their impact on global warming.

There are many things that negative things that could happen as a result of this warming – such as increased flooding of coastal areas due to rising sea-levels, or an increase in water shortages in areas where water scarcity is already a problem. There some benefits that could arise from an increase in the rate of climate change that we can see already, so perhaps there is reason to be positive.

Perhaps the most obvious benefit will be that the coldest areas of the planet, areas such as the Arctic, Antarctic and Siberia; will have milder climates that will allow a greater number of plant and animal species to live there. Unfortunately there are other species such as the polar bear that may cease disappear as their icy habitat is lost. But the loss of Arctic ice will have another positive effect, as the Northwest Passage through Canada’s formerly-icy north opens up to sea transportation, saving thousands of kilometres in transportation distances. This important transport route has been sought after for hundreds of years, but in 2007 the European Space Agency clamed the route was fully clear of ice for the for the first time since records began.

The benefits would not stop there however. Energy consumption in colder areas would be greatly reduced as less heating is needed, and public bodies would not need to spend so much to alleviate the very coldest of the weather. Agriculture could also increase in the coldest areas, and tourism would also benefit as people seek to escape the stifling heat on the rest of the planet.

However people who live away from these remote, sparsely populated areas will find themselves at a significant disadvantage. Those currently suffering the winter cold might look forward to a period of warmer weather, but there are many more disadvantages to climate change than there would be benefits of it. In addition to disadvantages mentioned above, stormy and unpredictable weather would become more widespread; and deaths from extreme heat would also increase.

But if we do not take action against climate would be wise to focus on the few ways that we will improve our living conditions rather than on the many ways that we will make them worse.

In the continuous quest for resources demanded by the ever-growing human race, mining methods are being taken to the extreme, and huge swathes of natural beauty devastated/

Ecologists are horrified at the destructive nature of the practice known as mountain top removal mining, which involves the destruction of the summit ridge of a mountain, in order to extract raw materials from the rocks, often with devastating consequences for the natural beauty of the area concerned.

It is normal practice for coal seams in their entirety to be removed from mountain tops, hills or ridges by simply removing all of the rock above them, and though, theoretically, the removed rock is repositioned to approximate the original feature shape, the reality of this mining method is anything but eco-friendly.

Not only is the clear cutting of native hardwood forests in these areas an affront to all environmentalists, but the subsequent use of dynamite to destroy hundreds of feet of mountaintop, followed by waste dumping in nearby valleys makes the blood of protesters boil, and rightly so.

Families and communities close to such mining sites have not only the environmental devastation to bear witness to, but must also put up with continual noise pollution from blasting as close as 300 feet from their homes, often going on 24-7.

On the US coalfields of Appalachia at this moment one of the worst environmental and human rights catastrophes in US history is ongoing, whole communities driven from homes and businesses by mountaintop removal coal mining causing flooding and landslides along with the din of the blasting.

A growing body of evidence is demonstrating the awful truth ot this type of shows mining destroying Appalachian forests, as well as and dangerously polluting vital headwaters, because spoilage laden with toxic mining by-products gets dumped in so-called valley fills.

Recent studies are damning, in that they show all too graphically how serious the environmental impacts are of mining this way. Lost natural habitats and bio-diversity which can neither be reversed or repaired, along with unseen adverse human health threats..

Even if the human race desperately needs man resources obtained in this way, the price in environmental terms is far too high for any of us to truly find acceptable. Those with a real concern for nature, wildlife and the future of the planet must work together to put a stop these mountaintop mining disaster before we take it that one step too far, if indeed we have not already done so.

“We all of us cannot awl and blister up our way away from our financial and ecological ills, but we can invent and spend our way out”, says LANE SHANE, the author in the Green Collar 000-SS1 Economic climate and founding father of Green for All.

This person doesn’t will need my help nor do I have any consideration for recommending this e-book. But this really is a thoughtful straight ahead view of how we can aid the economic climate, develop careers, and retool America to obtain out of this economic slump whilst repairing the environment. That is an extraordinary task and typically encompassing objectives that appear contradictory. But it really is do-able! There is barely something as of late that is definitely more essential or has much more far reaching outcomes on every single people who reside on the “third rock in the sun”. We’re all citizens of an international community. What takes 000-Z05 place to one particular folks great or poor, affects the rest of us. Examine this reserve out. It can be useful, thoughtful and I consider you will uncover it eye opening precisely how basic the answer is always to receiving our efforts headed in an effective and a lot more proper method.

You will find it a really academic and entertaining go through. Regardless of the way you voted in the recent election, it absolutely was very crystal clear that the big vast majority people were ripe for alter. We’ve all seen how our everyday lives have been affected from the environment, inadequate decisions and lack of responsiveness more than the final handful of a long time. Nobody can deny we will need some modifications. Van Jones shows us how our targets to provide an much better place to live, much more jobs, 000-115 safety for households and preserve the environment are all targets that will be accomplished with each other with no sacrificing one particular over an additional.

The so called “greenhouse gases” that are emitted every single minute almost everywhere around the land, and even in the sea and especially by air planes are invisible to the naked eye.

This is why many people surpass this issue, which is actually pretty important and a global one. Thus, would imaginary picture of how would the world look if those gases were visible make more people act more eco friendly? Take a look at this story from ABC News and read the rest of the article.

As we cannot stop the giant polluting power plants we can try to make our daily activities and routines more eco conscious. Driving our cars contributes to the air pollution but can we really stop driving them – No, not unless a solutions is provided to the masses.

But the opportunity to save resources, such as water and energy, is in our hands and is there to take it and contribute towards a better future. We are already starting to feel the negative consequences of our unconsciousness.

The least we can do is to follow the example of the cleaners in Melbourne in our homes – cleaning ecologically conscious is a good idea. The chemically based home cleaning products are harming the environment not only when used but during their manufacturing process too. By making the demand lower we really contribute.

Saving electricity is necessary, as well. Everyone knows what to do to save energy. Turn off home appliances and the TV when you not watch them. Run the dishwasher and the washing machine only when fully loaded.

Last but not least teaching others about the ecological consciousness is a must. The least we can do is to promote ecologically friendly behaviour in our families. Cleaning Melbourne may not be an issue there but why should our children spend additional 30 minutes under the shower just because it feels good.

Lets preserve the earth :

What kinds of robots can we look forward to in the near future if we, say, get rid of money?

Robots of the (((Future))).

Without money there is no developmental stagnation for the lack of funds. This means that technology and healing medicine are allowed to advance at a truly remarkable rate. New discoveries in the scientific fields such as energy technologies and genetic therapies, for instance, cannot be hindered by the lack of grants or the limits that were placed on them by greedy corporations, whether by stipulations on those grants or “coincidental fatal accidents”. With total freedom to work, highly advanced computers, 3-D printers and metal prototyping machines, the field of robotics will finally catch up to science fiction. So, with my preface now complete, let us take a look at just what kinds of robots we have to look forward to!

We shall begin with the most obvious; industrial robots. Yeah, boring, I know. They will remain, for the most part, the same as they are now. They might get sleeker and lighter as new alloys are developed, but they really are pretty good now. Soon they will replace all of the human workers at that factory as new robots are designed to fill even those jobs that humans still need to perform right now. One big, or should I say small, difference I see coming for industrial robots is the implementation of nanotechnology in the production process. As a product, probably a piece of electronic equipment, rolls down the line a spray of nano-bots can be injected into the device where they can work quickly, fusing connections and testing circuits as they go, then abandoning the product just before the next station, then getting sucked through a tube back to the injector. These nano-bots would likely resemble tiny winged crabs, each with their own micro-reactors and quantum computer brains. Each of these little robots would be precious at first as they will be difficult to produce, but as the technology advances there will be more leeway in regards to acceptable losses of nano-bots as production of these little cyber-critters ramps up.

Okay, the boring shit is over, let’s talk about kewl stuff; robot fish! Okay, so maybe that’s not as cool as a Gundam or a Transformer, but we’re getting there. Why robot fish? The last I heard, the oceans are polluted, thanks to the greedy bastard corporations, and they need to be cleaned up. There exists a floating island of plastic waste, ranging from toothbrushes to tiny particulates, the size of the United States in the Pacific ocean. Due to the vastness of oceans, normal lake cleaning methods are useless and little Nemo sure ain’t gonna do it. So why don’t we design and build little robot fish to clean it up? We could make two sizes of robofish for this purpose; a larger, salmon sized, fish to get the larger items, by eating them, and a smaller, sardine sized, fish to handle the tiny bits of plastic and other pollutants. The robo-fish would eat until full, breaking the material down, much like digestion, then return to the nearest pollution extraction base to unload and then return to hunting for crap. Another problem our oceans and lakes are facing is the presence of invasive alien species. Robo-fish could be assigned to eat these intruders and process them into fertilizer for native species that could be replanted by another specialized robo-fish. Edible aliens, like Zebra Mussels, could easily be harvested by robo-fish which then would deposit the mussels into harvesting tanks in the belly of a fishing boat. The locals would then have a new source of food while the aliens are cleaned up. Larger robo-fish could swim around, catching alien fish that could be either eaten or turned into fertilizer. Along similar lines, robo-dolphins and robo-whales could be built to protect populations of cetaceans from poaching. If a whaling vessel began attacking a group of whales or dolphins without broadcasting the proper license code, the robo-cetacean would reveal itself by firing missiles and torpedoes at the whaling vessel, either sinking it or driving it away. While the robo-fish would have to be differentiated from normal fish, to aid in protecting them from predators including fishermen, the robo-cetaceans would be indistinguishable from the real thing. These robots would also have to have the ability to distinguish between high tech whaling ships and small two-man hunting boats whose occupants are Inuit looking to catch just one small whale or dolphin.

So, now for some big bad assed muh’f#*kin’ fightin’ robots?! No, not yet. How about garbage scouring robots?! How’s that sound? I think it sounds great. Sure, we might have humanoid robots to collect our garbage, or just automated garbage trucks with robotic arms to grab and empty garbage cans, or humans driving those trucks, but however the garbage is collected isn’t what really matters. What matters is what happens to that garbage after it is collected. Once at the dump the garbage is then sorted by spider-like robots with baskets where their abdomens would be. Each robot is assigned a certain material to collect, be it brown or clear glass, iron or aluminum, used wood or fresh organic waste, etc. Anything that can be recycled, which really means everything, will be sorted by these robo-spiders and taken to the appropriate cleaning shed where the items will be cleaned and further sorted by robots inside the sheds. The cleaned and sorted materials will then be shipped to the appropriate factory to be made into something new, or in the case of organic material, into mulch and fertilizer. Some robo-spiders will be equipped with shovels and put to work at old dumpsites where they will clean them up and reclaim valuable materials that can be recycled. Thanks to these robo-spiders, nothing will go to waste.

Big f#*k-all robots?? No. It is now time for a philosophical discussion on whether we should build androids or not. The first question is why should we build androids in the first place? What would be their function? Sure, we could put them to work doing our shitty jobs, but why go through all the hassle of designing and building them when a crude robot could perform the same function, without the inherent problem of anthropomorphism. If we make a robot to look like us and act like us, we will come to believe that they are more than just tools to be used. Then we start into silly shit like android rights and protests against android slavery. Though, ironically, androids, no matter how much artificial intelligence we endow them with, will only ever want to serve humans. The movie “Bicentennial Man” had it right; no matter what his other interests were, Andrews primary interest was to serve his family. The father had to order Andrew to leave, which he did in obedience to the father. Even later in his life Andrew designed artificial organs not just for himself, but for all humans to benefit from them. This desire to serve humans would be part of the basic programming in their computer brains. No matter how smart they get, this would be a part of their basic nature. Androids would view any protests on their behalf as a kind, but unnecessary gesture. So then, if we can’t use them for basic labor, what then would be their role in a moneyless society? They wouldn’t really make very good nannies because they might not have human intuition, which is a requirement when dealing with the very young. Besides, there are plenty of humans willing to do that job anyway. When you eliminate their usefulness as a tool, there is only one use left for a fully autonomous android; companionship. Anatomically correct androids could provide unconditional love, be it a result of programming or a learned emotion, and sex to lonely people who, for whatever reason, haven’t been able to find a mate through conventional means. Oh, solo mio. I’m sure there’ll still be people protesting their use as “sex slaves”. Anyways, what about non-autonomous androids? The movie “Surrogates”, starring Bruce Willis, showed androids that were controlled directly by brain-computer interface. While using such a machine to live our lives for us while we sit at home rotting away in a chair is not such a good Idea, using surrogate android bodies to explore space would be a great idea. These androids would be able to withstand extreme environments and alien atmospheres that would kill a biological human, all without the need for bulky spacesuits or food and water. But, thou doth protest, what about the speed of light? Even if we managed to get a ship to the nearest star system it would take four years just to communicate with them! Ah, enter; quantum communication. Even now we are learning the basics of quantum communication which is the ability to communicate over vast distances instantly through the quantum energy field. Without the need for money slowing down research into quantum mechanics, we will very quickly develop the means to link with surrogate android bodies in other star systems. We’ll also, very likely, develop faster than light travel to get them there as well. And when we do, we should send one thousand of them, half male, half female. They should look like the finest human specimens, with the ability to change their skin, hair, and eye color as well as the ability to change their facial features. This allows for anybody to use them at any time. Only twenty of them should be active at any one time though, just in case one or more should be destroyed, either by accident or by hostile extraterrestrial. So, with that I shall segue into the part you’ve been waiting for:

Big ass f#*k-all fightin’ robots!! The threat of extraterrestrial invaders is the only reason we would have such robots. In a world that utilizes a resource based world economy, there is no war, hence no reason to have big fighting robot warriors. But, if we did encounter a hostile E.T. species through our surrogate android explorations of the galaxy and they decided to attack Earth, we could have plenty of time to build a whole army of giant warrior robots armed with weapons so advanced that just one of these robots could wipe out the entire invasion fleet. Are you happy now?

Going green has become a phrase that is sometimes even over-used. The word “green” often refers to people who are conscious about the effects that human activities have on the environment.

However, being conscious is not enough – a green person acts towards preserving the ecology and nature. So basically going green means that a person starts to mind his acts in a way beneficial for the environment.

But at first there comes the question why exactly green. However, the answer is obvious and even a kid can answer it. The green color symbolizes plants and life. Going into detail the investigation leads us to the year 1979 when in Germany a Green Party was formed. It is said to be formed from a huge number of small environmentalist organisations. Seems a good idea but history and politics is not my strongest side.

Nowadays there are many non-political organisations promoting going green. Recently being environmentally friendly is becoming more and more of a trend. In Australia many conferences are held about what should be done to preserve the planet. Cleaning Melbourne is something that the government already made sure to be green. The tendency of more and more green products on the market is a pretty positive one.

But how exactly going green happens. There is not a particular method – most of the times it is containing of several steps. Saving resources is the main thing. Water, electricity, fossil fuels. People often think that with a small change nothing can be achieved. However, this is a fatal misconception. Each one of us should make small steps towards the preservation of the environment. Cleaners in Melbourne know that and this is why they started to develop those green cleaning products.

After years of ecological unconsciousness it is time to become responsible. This is because we are already starting to feel the negatives of being environmentally unfriendly throughout the years.

If you say our lives are not in a great danger you should rethink this and ask yourself about our children. What are we leaving for them? A polluted, unclean environment – it is what it is!

However, after all there is a bright side to look at. Recently, more and more people are becoming conscious about what they are doing to contribute to the humanity’s well being on the earth. If you are one of those people, then you surely know how important it is to promote the green practices. If we teach a single person about going green we have done something good.

The least we can do is to become green at our homes. In my city – Melbourne green practices are being promoted everywhere. Even better, yesterday when I hired cleaning services Melbourne amazed me once more – the cleaners emphasized on the green products they were using.

Australia really has a thing for going green recently. Many conferences are held there and this can only speak positively for Australia. The domestic cleaning Melbourne services

Talk with friends, family, relatives and co-workers about the benefits of going green. You certainly know many of them. Except contributing to the environment, all parties can save money. Use as less water as possible for showers. Your water bill will say why. Turning off electronics when not in use will cut down the power bill. There are many simple ways to go green that can save lots of money over time.

Environmental agencies could benefit if they work with commercial enterprise to achieve their goals.

Image via Wikipedia

Conservation, an ideal that has so often championed the cause of environmental protection as opposed to plans that could offer greater short-term financial gain; has now realised the potential benefits of working with big business instead of opposing the plans of these companies. Environmental groups would like to get some of the funds that are available from wealthier companies, and have also realised that conservation must work with development to be successful rather than oppose such progression. The hope is that such change will improve the public perception of environmentalism and economic attitudes to it1. Environmentalism does make economic sense, investment in programs such as mangrove reforestation (which can protect valuable fish stocks and protect agricultural land) or flood plain maintenance (which can add nutrients to improve land quality) will reap considerable financial benefits in the future.

There are many cases where working with big business could be advantageous to the goals of conservation, as has recently been highlighted by a growing demand to protect the Arctic Circle and the surrounding area. The area could exploited further as economic demands increase, but these demands could be mitigated significantly by the involvement of enterprise that could profit from the further exploitation of the Arctic Circle, or from its protection2. The Arctic Circle is in decline as ice cap of the region melts away, most people are aware of this fact. The warming of the region has also made it more accessible: the area is now a viable trade route as ships can pass from Atlantic Ocean to Pacific Ocean and vice versa. Many artic regions are mineral rich, and there is also increased mining to acquire these important natural resources. Businesses should be interested in the idea of conservation here because it could protect access to these important minerals and ensure that they remain a valued commodity.

Business, quite rightly, will look to profits and the potential for growth and development as measures of success. Environmentalism and conservation organisations will try to conserve our environment and natural resources. In order for conservation to be successful it must not hinder success. Conservation must work with big business in order to ensure that the goals of conservation are met within a practical timescale.

Fossil fuels such as coal and oil are globally the most important sources of electricity. Undoubtedly, burning fuels has a negative effect on the environment. However, some still think this is the only one and most effective method of energy generation. Others, looking at a long term plan consider the exploration and development of alternatives of fossil fuels as the most important global priority.

Nowadays, those natural resources are being exploited widely because of their value over generating electricity. Fortunately, these sources are still available and being used for such a long time makes the humanity dependent on them. Melbourne goes in a greener direction with the eco-friendly cleaning products that are manufactured here. But cleaning Melbourne is the last problem since it is brief that the increased demand of fossil fuels will soon lead to insufficiency. As a consequence, there will be a considerable need for alternative energy sources. The prospect of fossil fuels coming to an end sets a global goal of introducing a substitute for the traditional energy provider.

Along with the future prospect, using these fuels has caused many negative consequences on the environment and the people themselves. Therefore introduction of alternatives would benefit the coming generations in terms of living in a better environment. Apart from being beneficial over respiratory problems and other health problems caused by the air pollution the use of alternative fuels will slow down or even stop the damaging of the ozone layer. Eventually this will decrease the global warming.

We can play our part by making simple everyday adjustments. Using green products will lead to manufacturing of less environmentally unfriendly ones. During the manufacturing process fossil fuels are burned or a huge amount of electricity is needed. Thus if you are to look for green products in your area follow this example : if you live in Melbourne as me, type “green cleaning Melbourne” in any of the search engines available.

When we anticipate of war we usually anticipate in agreement of animal casualties and displacement. But animal tragedy is alone one aspect of war.

When we anticipate of war we usually anticipate in agreement of animal casualties and displacement. But animal tragedy is alone one aspect of war. Another is the continued abiding ecological brand consistent from war that about takes decades to resolve. Ecological brand commonly refers to an commodity such as an individual, aggregation or government. In this commodity it is acclimated in the ambience of a aggressive attendance or artefact of war. An ecological brand refers not alone carbon dioxide emissions and added greenhouse gases accidental to the carbon brand but aswell to ecological issues including abuse and use of non-renewable assets such as apple-pie water.

Ecology is of abundant affair because war about involves the aimless abolition of acreage and accident to the surrounding environment. One such archetype was the bottomward of the atom bomb on two Japanese cities at the end of the 2nd apple war. In this case the ecological brand consisted of massive abolition of acreage and continued abiding furnishings of radiation. Another archetype of war-induced ecological brand was the spraying of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. Not alone was Agent Orange an able defoliate but aswell appear dioxins as it degraded, causing austere bloom problems for anyone apparent to it.

Some of the added accessible ecology issues consistent from war are air and arena pollution, abolition of forests and acreage mines. An aberrant appulse to war’s ecological brand is the aberration of government money and assets from beneath burning programs, some of which chronicle to the environment. There are added added abstruse ecological issues to accede such as the abrasion of basal casework and basement aural a country. This about after-effects in baptize shortage, affable ammunition curtailment and decay corruption during and afterwards the war. The ecological brand is impacted because bare baptize administration can aftereffect in bacterial contamination, baptize accident via leaks (pipe damage) after-effects in bereft irrigation of cropland, aliment curtailment and clay erosion. The Iraq war resulted in affable ammunition shortages and led to association acid down copse in adjustment to cook.

Another war-related affair is the blackmail to biodiversity due to ample numbers of displaced refugees. For example, the abundance apache citizenry and abode were threatened afterwards the Rwanda genocide as displaced refugees alternate to an crawling country and were affected to abide the backwoods reserves. A actual austere appulse to war’s ecological brand in wartime is the corruption of chancy substances such as radioactive material. For example, during the Iraq war (in 2003) two hundred barrels of uranium oxide were baseborn from a nuclear bulb south of Baghdad. The capacity of the barrels were dumped into rivers again bounded association acclimated the containers for autumn basal amenities. Iraq’s nuclear ambassador now believes that one thousand humans could die of leukemia. Manufacture and analysis of alarming weapons (in wartime or peace) aswell increases the ecological appulse of the aggressive presence. The contaminants from aggressive sites are boring leaching into the environment. Disposal of nuclear decay is a cogent all-around problem.

In contempo years, a lot of scientists and amenable individuals accept been abundant added anxious with the ecological brand we are abrogation for approaching ancestors to accord with. Concerns such as altitude change, biodiversity and pollution. War is a cogent contributor to all of these ecology problems. Hopefully our political and aggressive leaders will be abutting the blooming movement and accede the ambiance in approaching war activities, added so than in the past.
