Christmas and New Year are occasions to celebrate with lots of fun. One of the best ideas to travel to your dream destination and make the best use of time during these occasion. Here are a few most popular destinations that you can choose from.

Popular Destinations for Christmas and New Year

Christmas and New Year occasions are among the most crowded events that are celebrated with lots of enthusiasm and ideas all over the world. People wish to visit as many places as they can with their families during these occasions. While places to visit on this earth are countless, there are a few destinations that are really breathtaking and worth visiting in such occasions. Read here to know about a few most popular destinations in the world.

Rome, Italy

With more than 200 churches built with breathtaking views in and around Rome, it makes a perfect destination for everyone who plans to have a great time during Christmas. Historically, it has the best architecture of the churches and makes a perfect ambiance for a wide range of people. The St Peter’s square and the St. Peter’s Basilica are known as the heart of the city because of the typical celebrations done during such occasions. You can undoubtedly find a Christmas tree decorated with all sorts of lighting in every house in the city. The city blossoms with colorful shopping markets and children’s fairs all around to meet your shopping needs. Piazza Navona, the most common market in the city, is always stuffed with stalls selling candies, sweets, and a variety of toys for kids. Piazza Navona stands as a popular shopping destination for every family. Needless to mention about the gigantic beauty of Rome all over with huge buildings and every other neighboring house decorated with colorful lights to make the perfect Christmas environment.

Edinburgh, Scotland

This being the second largest city and capital of Scotland is considered one of the most awesome places for a New Year celebration. The best event that has so far been attracting many people to this place is the traditional Hogmanay where you can find legendary celebrations during New Year. Again, this place can turn out to be even better, if you really want to feel the freezing cold during the New Year.

Paris, France

If it all about visiting places to make your trip a memorable New Year time, Paris is worth giving a try. It is one of the places every other person dreams to visit at least once in a year, so why not during the New Year. This destination is quite well-known for the best fashion houses and boats that you can use for a very exciting nightlife. Nevertheless, Paris is also famous all over the world for the best variety of foods and drinks. So, you can imagine a really exciting New Year celebration with all such popular features in place for your fun and enjoyment.

In addition, it would also be fun to see various monuments, historical avenues, and iconic landmarks – the Eiffel Tower – in Paris.

Vienna, Austria

If you want to do something new this year in terms of exploring new adventures, Vienna can be just the right destination. Skiing is a well-known adventure sport in Austria that you can enjoy any time of the year. However, this event witnesses the maximum crowd during such occasions. You can make this New Year even more special while enjoying fresh snow all around you. Moreover, never forget to try the hot glue wine – a specialty drink of Vienna during the winters, and especially in the New Year time.

New York, USA

Millions of people gather in New York every year to celebrate these occasions with lots of fun activities and events. I don’t think there can be a specific discussion about what is so good in New York since it is always considered to be one of the best destinations. Although crowded, the city has everything to cherish you in the New Year occasion. Times Square, a place known as the most crowded during this occasion, is a favorite place for various fun-filled activities, especially the famed ball drop. Exactly at the midnight with the onset of New Year, people hold their breath to experience the ball drop view. If you have any plans to be part of this event, make sure you are dressed up warmly and reach this place before time for a closer New Year Ball Drop experience.

Sydney, Australia

When you are selecting some places that you want to be worth visiting during this New Year, never forget to touch upon Sydney – the most popular in the world for its breathtaking fireworks. I think Sydney is the most popular place that greets the New Year with lots of fireworks that looks very beautiful and remarkable. It marks the largest firework celebrations in the world and therefore can be a great New Year destination for you. The Sydney Harbor Bridge witnesses the stunning firework celebration which can be viewed from almost every corner of the city. However, you can enjoy the firework celebration more if you take a boat and be in the harbor during the New Year firework celebration.

While Christmas and New Year can be celebrated in many other cities, these are a few best and most popular destinations. One can also consider visiting London, Thailand, Spain, Prague, and Budapest to have an entirely different experience. There cannot be a real comparison of these destinations to find the best places for New Year and Christmas celebration. Depending on your comfort, requirements, and climate you are looking to be at, you can select from to visit one or more destinations to have the real fun to the fullest and enjoy a great Christmas and New Year time that you can remember forever.

Edinburgh is well known as a University City. There are several colleges within the city limits and this causes a great number of teenagers from all around the world to go and live there every year.....

As a result of the large number of universities in Edinburgh, flats are popular accommodation for students and young professionals who choose to stay and work in the city after graduating. The University of Edinburgh is one of Scotland’s oldest institutions, and situated on campuses throughout the city, from Old College and King’s Buildings to Easter Bush. Heriot-Watt University and Napier Technical College are well-known institutions for which students travel from the UK and further afield to attend.

Affordable student accommodation is available in suburbs throughout the city, although for University of Edinburgh Main Campus students, it’s concentrated in suburbs in Old Town, such as Newington, Lothian, New Bruntsfield, Tollcross and Holyrood. These suburbs have shared, furnished flats that are affordable and available for lease particularly at the close of the academic year in August and September.

It’s recommended that Heriot-Watt students live in the city centre (New Town) or in west end suburbs such as Haymarket, Dalry, Gorgie, Chesser and Sighthill, where flats are cheaper, access to transport is good and bus journeys are between 30 and 40 minutes. Napier students can find accommodation in Merchiston and Morningside, although these suburbs have a large number of schools, and demand for medium-sized flats may be higher.

The cost of student rent in Edinburgh varies according to location and the condition of the property – whether it’s furnished, the number of bedroom and whether amenities are included. Research your chosen area thoroughly, settling on a price bracket and viewing a number of prospective flats before settling on one. Remember that full-time students are exempt from paying council tax, but you will have to pay for gas and electricity, Internet, TV licences, flat maintenance and other services stipulated in your lease, so choose wisely! Find flats to rent in Edinburgh and take advantage of the excellent accommodation in Scotland’s capital.

Whatever your plans to ring in the New Year, you can easily add a touch of Scot's flair to your celebration.

Image via Wikipedia

You don’t need to don your kilt or dance the highland jig to party like the Scots, but there are a few traditions that you can partake in to ring in the New Year in style.

Before Midnight on December 31st,

· Make sure you have eaten a hearty steak pie, or stew for dinner. A quick internet search will provide ample tasty recipe ideas. This will help to soak up the alcohol excess which is mandatory for any Scots celebration.

· Shortbread and black bun (rich fruit cake) are also traditional fare for this festival.

· Be prepared for an all-night celebration. Scottish revelers take to the streets of the major Cities, and Edinburgh holds one of the largest and most spectacular street parties in the world.

· Wear weather appropriate attire, no kilt necessary.

After Midnight,

· Share the moment with your loved ones, but also strangers too. Learn the words to the Scottish Bard’s rendition of Auld Lang Syne. The Scot’s just adore Robert Burns, and this is one way of honoring him. The song encourages everyone to let go of the problems of the year gone by, and look forward to the new year.

· Wish as many people as you see, a very happy New Year, even the strangers who have not yet made your acquaintance.

· It’s customary to have a wee dram of whiskey at the stroke of midnight, but not sure how feasible this is if you are celebrating on the streets.

· Fireworks at the stroke of midnight are a tradition that originated with the pagan celebrations of using fire to ward off evil spirits.

Since celebrating the New Year is related to the hope of better times ahead, the Scots – a historically superstitious population, have a few rituals to prevent bad luck in the coming year. For those who do not participate in the street celebrations in Scotland’s cities, it is customary to visit with friends and neighbors. But you must NEVER visit without presenting your host with a gift, a bottle of whiskey, shortbread or a black bun is the norm but symbolic items including salt and coal.

· It is traditional to clean house on Hogmanay, to cleanse the home of last years’ dirt. It is also expected that everyone will pay off all their debts before the New Year arrives.

· Visitors will be sent away if they arrive before midnight to prevent bad luck. First-footers are made welcome after midnight.

· Traditionally, the man of the house will open the back door of the house to let out the old year, and then open the front door to welcome the new into their home.

· Your first-footer will ideally be dark-haired and this is probably where the fantasy of a “tall, dark handsome stranger” originated. Lighter haired first-footers were deemed as unlucky because they resembled the Vikings, which usually meant trouble for the Scots.

One final note, Hogmanay celebrations must be LOUD. Whether you use traditional Scottish music, your favorite contemporary band, or play your own instruments, the noisier the party the farther away you will scare away evil spirits.

Feel free to share your Hogmanay Stories in the Comments section below.

A big source of Welsh’s appeal is the shock of encountering a writer who deals with British drug culture in a matter-of-fact, nonjudgmental way, while never concealing either its physical and psychic costs or the desperation that fuels it. The backdrop to his tales of lumpen-prole life in the deprived “housing schemes” of Edinburgh is postindustrial unemployment and the humiliation of a socialist Scotland within a Tory-ruled UK. He seldom confronts this political deadlock explicitly, but when he does, his anatomy of curdled idealism and hope is unsparing. In the novella A Smart Cunt (part of the story collection The Acid House, published in England in 1994), a left-wing militant tries to recruit Brian (Welsh’s most autobiographical protagonist). “I’m thinking, what can I do, really do for the emancipation of working people in this country, shat on by the rich, tied into political inaction by servile reliance on a reactionary, moribund and yet still unelectable Labour Party?,” muses Brian. “The answer is a resounding fuck all. Getting up early to sell a couple of [political pamphlets] in a shopping centre is not my idea of the best way to chill out…. I think I’ll stick to drugs to get me through the long, dark night of late capitalism.”

In Welsh’s world, even nonravers are on drugs, literally (state-sanctioned chemicals like alcohol or tranquilizers) or metaphorically (TV, videos, computer games, the adrenaline rush of football violence). But Welsh – an ex-junkie and still a fervent raver – is mostly preoccupied with illegal forms of raising and razing consciousness. The Acid House, Marabou Stork Nightmares, published in England in 1995, and the forthcoming Ecstasy: Three Chemical Romances largely concern the rave scene’s drugs of choice: MDMA, LSD, and “jellies” (slang for the downer Temazepam). And Trainspotting focuses on Edinburgh’s heroin subculture of the mid ’80s, when Pakistani smack had glutted the UK market, becoming, for thousands of ordinary people mired in unemployment, a cheaper means to oblivion than alcohol.

But I’m not Pktherh common points between the two stars athletes marriage and the marriage of Prince William Bkat Middleton on April 29 which featured lavish and followed by more than two billion people via television, with a million people took to the streets of London.

It is scheduled for the wedding ceremony, Saturday, in the Church Kanongit Kirk in the presence of members of the royal family, including William and Kate but the invitations were limited to 400 invited other than the combined legions, who included the 1900 invited attended the wedding Prince William, second in the order of succession to the throne, in the Cathedral of Westminster in London .

The reception after the wedding is held in the Palace of Holaroadhaws “Queen’s official residence in Scotland .. The Zara and Mike Tindall stayed Friday night party on board the former Royal Yacht” Britannia “.

And Zara Phillips’s 30-year-old is the only daughter of Princess Anne’s daughter Queen Elizabeth .. And occupies third place in the order of ten succession to the throne, but do not carry any royal title, a try with Tyndall (32 years) as much as possible to live a normal life.

And visited the former world champion in equestrian Mike Flaab participated in an international Rugby World Cup game in 2003 when England won the title .. And led the team in the Six Nations Championship in 2003, which culminated in victory for England as well.

They met for the first time in 2003 in Sydney, as he celebrates winning team .. Tyndall says the permanent smile that “pure magic” has allowed him to win her heart.

The couple met at a party Bdioufhma stretched to two hours Friday evening, on board the yacht and the sound of a band revived the party.

Attended each of the Catherine and William and his brother Prince Harry, while the observed complete absence of the queen and her husband, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla.

Do not receive this attention to the wedding on the international scene as a wedding in April but the presence of members of the royal family, has attracted hundreds of people Saturday to the front of the Church Kanongit Kirk in Edinburgh.

Says Trish Alasctlandah originally amounting to a 59-year wait behind the barrier on the short road, which connects the church and place of ceremony, “I would like to see the royal family, Zara and I think that girl is very good and humble and not arrogant.”

The couple visited the church Friday in the framework of recent exercises on the wedding ceremony, they were wearing jeans and spent about 50 minutes inside.

Says Mary, who stood outside the church on Saturday, “Well, actually choosing a wedding ceremony to Edinburgh .. and this option worthy of them.”

The act of putting it down on paper will help you remember what's important about Zara Phillips To Marry In Second Royal Wedding Of 2011.

Zara Phillips, weddings in England’s rugby player Mike Tyndall seem to be something much more subtle than the royal wedding in April, with police warning only 1,500 people a taste of a couple. Miss Phillips to marry in Edinburgh on Saturday (July 30, 2011), but the authorities want to control the crowds as the narrow streets of Canongate Kirk, church.

According to British newspaper the Telegraph, the police insisted the marriage ceremony only “two sports personalities” rather than a royal wedding. No television cameras allowed accessing the interior of the church and order of service is unlikely to publish. For comparison, the marriage of Kate Middleton and Prince William in London, in Westminster Abbey a global event, watched by about 1 billion people around the world television and direct. While Middleton was RUN 1.5 miles of Goring Hotel in Victoria to the famous abbey, Phillips go to 400 meters down the Royal Mile to Canon Gate Kirk give viewers little chance of catching a glimpse of the bride. Superintendent Ivor Marshall said: “Of course, the Royal Mile, which is a very confined space is not fully established viewing areas, as it is a private event, and not an event state J should like so get there early …”

Zara and her husband-to-be to organize an aperitif on board the Royal Yacht Britannia on Friday (July 29, 2011) the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will travel up to Balmoral on Saturday.

The highest bid was eight times higher than the estimate: A Roman helmet was auctioned in London for the equivalent of 2.6 million euros. A young man had dug up the antique in a field – and must now keep the bulk of the proceeds.

A rare Roman cavalry helmet was auctioned on Thursday in London for 2.3 million pounds (2.6 million euros). The 2000-year-old antiques had been found in May by a young man with a metal detector scans a field in northern England.

Since the helmet is not covered by the British Treasury Law, the finder may keep most of the money. Otherwise, the British Museum would have a right of access. The highest bid surprised the experts at the auction house Christie’s, it was eight times higher than expected.

The unusual bronze helmet is one of three that have been found in Britain. The other two pieces are exhibited in museums in London and Edinburgh. The helmet with face mask is an exceptional example of the metal art of the Romans. It was not intended for use in combat, but was probably worn in parades of the cavalry.
