This article explain the tricks that the freelance employers are doing and I don't think it's fair to the providers.

Are you looking for freelance work well, I am going give you the low down on how they operate. There are many freelance websites on the internet that you can join such as: Odesk.com, Getta freelancer.com, Guru.com, Elance.com, and Man for power.com just to name a few.

1. You can sign up with as many freelance sites as you like. 2. Some of the freelance sites will limit the amount of project you can bid on while some don’t. 3. If you are making a bid try to go as low as possible, because most of the time the lowest bid is chosen. 4. Most of the freelance sites don’t allow you to give your personal information directly to the person who is hiring. Any contact info must go through the company’s sites. 5. If you are looking for good

paying project look elsewhere because these employers demands the best candidate and they are only paying you a very small amount of money and sometimes the pay is as low as 5cent per job it all depends on the projects. Every now and then you will find a good deal. 6. You are called provider and the employers are called buyer.

The employers have the right to pick, choose or refuse who they want to give their projects to. But beware of some of the employers they can be very devious. If you have been chosen for the job then you will receive a PM (private message) in your account and you will also get an email stating that (the buyer or the employers) wants to correspond with you. However when you get in contact with the buyer he will discuss how and if you are able to do the job in a certain time frame and then he will decide whether or not to hire you.

Most of the time the buyers want a mountain out of a hill for example, if they want you to create email addresses they will only offer you 2cent for each email address you create ( yes as low as that)and if you can’t create a thousand email in a hour they will give the job to another provider. While some of them want to pay 2cent for every 10 email. Sometimes they want you to do some impossible things which I don’t even believe that they can do themselves.

They always want the best out of you and they are only paying you pocket change. While some buyers will let you do the work and don’t even pay you for it, they are only creating a bad name for those few good buyers who will actually pay you for the job. Be careful of the buyers who are asking you to do a test first. Sometimes the buyers will give you a test just to see if you are capable to do their job which I think is fair sometimes. Let’s say they want to test you fist and the test is to gather a list of names and phone numbers from websites that they will sometime provide for you and they are asking you to list 500 names and addresses in less than an hour which I think is unreasonable, but if they ask you to list at least 10 well that sound quite reasonable but 500 no freaking way. If you can read between the lines you will realize that the test was actually the job they want done so you get tricked into doing the job for free. If by any chance they are giving you to do a test if it’s too much then I think that you should reconsider but if you think it is reasonable enough to do then it is up to you.

I have never seen the need to outsource any tasks. We used to joke about outsourcing the repetitive task of marking students' work in my previous job as a teacher. But now that I'm working from home, I feel that I have got to do everything myself. How wrong could I be! Outsourcing has a lot of benefits which I learned from a recent experience.

Overcoming Fear

I have always been afraid of technology and anything new. Outsourcing was new to me. I was even more wary of outsourcing tasks to people I don’t know, who lives half way around the world from where I am. But recent events have forced me to outsource article-writing due to time constraint. So I signed up for a service provider website, Elance and post a job. Having no previous experience in this area, I was surprised that the website guides me every step of the way. I was able to complete the entire experience, from the beginning to the end, without any mishap.

What was I so fearful about? I had to ask myself that question when I completed everything. I guess I was fearful that the other party might run away with my money, but it did not happen, mainly due to the fact that the system kept both buyers and service providers in a safe and secure environment. Nothing to worry at all!

Saves Time

Outsourcing frees me up some time to complete other important things I needed to do, such as planning. Once I outsourced, my mind was free of the torture from the daunting tasks of writing 10 articles in a short space of time. I had more time tothink about more pressing issues.

Cheaper Labour

Outsourcing your tasks to people in the third world countries may be a cheaper source than finding someone within the vicinity of your location. Some of them are willing to work for just US$1 per hour. Although I would be wary of these people because the quality of their work is untested, they can still provide a cheaper alternative than what’s available near you. You can always check their credibility through the reviews of these service providers to find out if they can do the job to your satisfaction. Some of the people from India, for instance, are excellent computer programmers and experts in IT.

Delegation

I have learnt a lot about delegation. Although I took on some supervisory role in my previous job, it is different with outsourcing to people from other countries. Your main form of communication is the e-mail or Private Message Boards provided by the website. You need to have the intricacies of the project spelt out clearly to ensure full understanding of tasks in written communication. I learnt about giving specific instructions to narrow down the chances of mistakes and errors my service provider might make. Outsourcing has allowed me to learn about being a leader, being your own boss, taking ownership of your job, and many more.

Motivation

My service provider was very quick in responding to all my messages. Once we settled on the business terms and conditions, she started right away and promised to get back to me in a few days. She came back to me in two days with all the articles completed. I was pushed and became more motivated to complete my other tasks, to match the completion of the articles. Subsequently, I gave her pointers for revision of the articles and she responded within hours with revised versions of the articles. Outsourcing has kept me on my toes and motivated me to do more things much faster.

There’s so many things to learn when you step into a new environment. I started out feeling afraid and fearful of many possible mishaps that might happen, but none of it was founded. I became a smarter worker and emerge a more confident person. All thanks to outsourcing!
