Please share who you believe will be our next president. As for me, I am not sure who to pick at this point, but I am sure as the time gets closer to voting, I will have a clearer picture of who I will vote for.

Please share your opinions as well regarding these candidates and how you feel about them, etc.

I voted for President Obama as I felt he would make a great president. At this present time, I feel ashamed that I voted for him, I gave him too much credit. I know being president is a very hard job, I sure as heck wouldn’t want that responsibility. Anyways, just my opinion.

Mormon Candidate for the Presidency, Trips on his TONGUE, or is it just Who he is in FAITH...

Many will say, that I am picking on this candidate for the White House and many will say that I am slightly prejudice in my views. Problem “is,” I am neither, and when it comes to those of the faith of being Mormon, I know them very well. Afterall, my first wife was a Mormon and she was adopted by a Mormon family. Mormons proclaim to be “christians,” yet for anyone who decides to find out for themselves if they follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, you will find out that their views are totally different than the average follower of Christ. To BE a Mormon, you must believe in THEIR teachings “above” those of Jesus Christ or stand to be REJECTED by their faithful. I “was” for the seven years I spent with a person who later became my “ex” wife for her “infidelity.”

Like many disciples of Jesus, I do not adhere to the philosophy that a man “or” woman can have more than one spouse. Some sects of Mormonism “do.” This faith is unlike any other faith which calls itself Christian, and the most unique part of being a Mormon, is the fact that anyone who “isn’t” is of the “unworthy,” and as thus, “treated” as such. Now we have had “two” Mormons running for the White House, and have been viewing many, many Mormon faith ads on television. I wonder “why?” Romney is not out after the seat of Power to this country for no reason, and from the PR work being done, it all leads back to, not “Romney,” but the “CHURCH.” Being a Mormon is all about POWER and part of being a Mormon, is to have that power to “subject” others to “their” ways of running things.

As a minister, who myself differs from all others of the faith in Jesus, I myself am not even close to being like this “cult.” And yes, I myself, “reject” these of this faith simply because by “example,” they do not show to be of the self-sacrificing, compassion, giving, or loving ways Jesus taught a disciple should be.

Romney made a remark about the poor, and also made a remark about those who are the recipents of Social Security being the responsibility of each individual state and not the federal government. He has not even gotten into the White House yet, and he is showing his true colors, and you guessed it, a “Mormon.” Mormons only care about Mormons and can state that from “experience.”

Know why this Mormon family adopted my wife for? As a “mate” for their son. I met my wife after she had run away from these people. After marrying me, they “disowned” her. It is not the only experience, “bad” experience on record with people of this faith. People think of Nazi’s with disgust, but at least a Nazi during World War Two, would give a person a crumb of bread, or some water, maybe not willingly, but they still “would.” A Mormon, if you are not one, will NOT even give you that, “if” you are not of their faith. How do I know this? I took my wife to Utah to visit a brother who “also” married a Mormon. A “blood” related brother. Had twelve dollars in my pocket when I arrived there at a town north of Salt Lake City.

After many years of not seeing each other, my wife asked her brother where we were going to sleep. Upon hearing this, he told us we could not stay with them, as his wife would not allow us to. So, like an idiot I went and hocked what little I could at the local pawn shop and got a room. The next day, we went to the local LDS center to get some help. “There,” we were told that they only help members of the church, and if we were not active members that we did not QUALIFY. Wonder what they would have done if Jesus showed up and needed a meal? I guess the thousands Jesus fed were not “Mormons” as they would not have met up to “his” standards.

I am not a prejudice person, but over the span of time, I have grown to know that Jesus was right when he said that not all people who proclaim his name are of his kingdom. By example and by their ways, I found out the hard way, just how Mormon believe. If you or I are not “Mormon,” we are not of THEIR kingdom, and not worthy of their help. So what the hell does Romney need our help for? Aren’t there enough Mormons to elect him into office as President?

Once in office, for those who do not know a person of this faith I am describing to you, in my own personal opinion, you would be better off if a Nazi were running for President, for if he won, at least you may get a chance to EAT or have a place to LIVE. Mormons are after one thing, and that is to CONTROL your lives and what best to do it with, than to get the head office of this country.

Romney, slowly is showing that, “first” he is a “Mormon,” “second,” that he is a rich man, and “third” that “if” he gets elected he would in HIS own way, straighten out this country. Problem is, for those of you who are not Mormon and like this candidate, you do not know what a Mormon does to those who are NOT of their faith. Social programs and those on them will get the biggest hit, if Romney gets into office, “for” when I lived briefly in Utah, they did NOT have any help for anyone else who was not a MORMON. How I survived in Utah, was by the help of other persons who also were not Mormons and they gave me a JOB.

Mormon do not believe you or I are “worthy” of their “presence” much less HELP, and from the slip of the tongue lately, Romney is a product of this faith. You and I will not matter to him or his administration if we are elderly or disabled. Obama, though he is consistently put down, HAS given a damn to initiate some changes for health care, and as much as he is subjected to all the condescending comments by the GOP lead house, much of the BS that has not gotten done has been on THEIR shoulders and not Obama.

I am and “was” a devout conservative REPUBLICAN until I looked upon Boehners prejudical behaviors. This is AMERICA and not the United States of “Boehner.” Most of the stumbling blocks within the last year and ahalf have come not from the Obama administration but this one Congressman. One man does not run a country, and if Romney gets elected to be President, he will find out in the end for his church, that we are not ready for another Hitler regime………..

What we can really do to help him in this election.

It’s true; Ron Paul has the most fervent supporters of any GOP candidate to scour the stage this election cycle. You know just as well as I do that we aren’t going to waver anytime soon. Once you go Ron Paul, you never go back…

Image via Wikipedia

So it’s not like we haven’t heard this before, right? Right, except now I’m going to say “We aren’t supporting him enough.” Sure, okay, you guys have been giving him a lot of money, which comes in handy when it piles up after a few states are skipped over in deliberate plotting (we know he’s not spending that money right now). Besides giving him money, we are pouring our hearts out on forums, polls, and best of all youtube comment sections! We HAVE to be doing the best that we can! Wrong, now I’m going to say “Who’s looking at all of the internet media with the vast majority of Ron Paul support on it?” because I’m that really awkward guy who yells everyone into incongruous silence at the party. Yes, we can all agree on yet another topic, that the vast majority of people seeing Ron Paul support on the web, are Ron Paul supporters themselves. The support is great, and honestly a lot of those youtube comments are well put together; it’s the location, location, location that matters here.

The media isn’t going to tell the people Ron Paul’s message, and in fact it’s working to do much the opposite. So we need to tell the people. I KNOW THIS SOUNDS HARD, but hey… think about how much it matters to you right now. The first and easiest thing to do, but definitely not the last, is to expose our family members. They are readily available to be shown resources on Ron Paul directly from the internetz. There are many videos on youtube I have seen that justify and enhance Ron Paul’s position on Iran and various other topics. Second, and much more importantly, we must talk to people we don’t know. People who may be (or most likely are) influenced by the media. It doesn’t matter who it is, where it is; if you can capture a person’s time with their permission, they are willing to listen. Surprise personal endorsements in public for a presidential candidate aren’t everyday things, it will make a difference! If people can see Ronnie’s common sense positions without the bias, even your average Derpington will become somewhat curious. And we all know, once you go Ron Paul, you never go back. Nazi Hitler, The Fascist, The Silver-Tongue, or Ron Paul?

You decide.

Description of this years voting in Florida.

After sucking up to the Bubbas of South Carolina, it’s now time for the candidates to pander to the Bubbes of Florida. As anyone who remembers the 2000 election knows, old Jews hold the key to victory in the Sunshine State.

And apparently, Newt Gingrich knows exactly where his challah bread is buttered…

At his first rally of the morning, Newt Gingrich rolled out a new attack line: Mitt Romney took kosher food away from elderly Jewish people.

“He eliminated serving kosher food for elderly Jewish residents under Medicare,” Gingrich said. “I did not know this; it just came out yesterday. The more we dig in, I understand why George Soros in Europe yesterday said it makes no difference if it’s Romney or Obama, we can live with either one.”

Newt Gingrich may be great at wooing congressional staffers, but he’s a total pro at seducing Miami retirees. He knows the only way to a Jewish grandparent’s heart is through their stomach and heart medication.

Though it is kind of surprising that observant Jews would go near the candidate considering their strong aversion to pork products. Newt sure knows a lot about keeping kosher for a guy who resembles a Christmas ham.

As we squabble over every response, every speech and every gesture from the remaining Republican candidates; we continue to slip deeper into recession. Government continues to grow; regulating more and more of our lives. This will help you stay focused on what matters as the election process continues.

THREE STATES: THREE WINNERS

Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina have all had their share of Republican debates. The poll ballots have been counted and each state picked a different winner as their choice for the Republican nominee. Some say these debates are splitting the vote too many ways as the process continues. Many are also saying the constant barrage of negative ad campaigns will tarnish the remaining candidates too greatly to gather enough support, but this is nothing compared to the onslaught which will be brought down on the Republican candidate who faces Obama in November. Your candidate needs to be prepared and these debates are helping him; whoever he is…including Ron Paul.

Now with the field narrowed; I’m sure you are beginning to rally behind “your” candidate. What will you do if “your” candidate drops out of the race? Many have ended their runs for president, leaving three strong candidates and Ron Paul. Many of the early drop outs in the process did so because of various pressures brought on by debate performance, poll results, campaign support or personal scandals. It seemed every week there was a new front-runner. This was a necessary process to help get the quality candidates we have today.

DO NOT RELY ON THE HIGHLIGHT REELS

The debates should be reviewed in their entirety in order to reveal which candidate you feel works best under pressure. This is a primary skill of the candidate who will perform best against Obama. One thing I hear often is only one candidate will beat Obama. That is not true. Anyone can beat Obama. We are in a far worse state since Obama became president. Even today, Obama blames anything but himself for the country’s continued economic decline. Obama’s Stimulus Plan has sunk this country into more debt quicker than any other president in history. Obama’s poor performance as a leader and the far-reaching polices which expand the tentacles of government into our lives need to stop if we want our children to have the same opportunities to succeed as we do. I could run against Obama with that kind of performance and I won’t need a teleprompter.

DON’T COUNT ON FLORIDA

Florida is just another step in the process just like South Carolina, New Hampshire and Iowa. Florida is not the best at reliable ballot counting practices either. Whichever candidate wins Florida will gain momentum until something else is brought to our attention by the media or the Democratic Party. We have to take these hits in stride. See how your candidate responds to criticism. See how your candidate handles pressure. One of the best performances I have seen to date was the exchange between John King and Newt Gingrich in South Carolina as John tried to throw Gingrich a curve ball by asking about a recent interview with his ex-wife. The response was priceless: Gingrich stood his ground confidently and did not show any sign of nervousness or backpedalling as he spoke. It is examples like these which you need to look for in your candidate

KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE

Remember what you and every other independent and Republican wants to do: beat Obama. Four more years of Obama will mean further borrowing without spending cuts, a smaller military force, full implementation of “Obama Care” and more government regulation of our lives. We are still a country of individuals who all have the opportunity to succeed. We cannot forget that and we must fight in order to keep it. If your candidate does not end up being the nominee to face Obama in November, know that any of the candidates would bury Obama in a debate; even Ron Paul.

A look at the role of YouTube in the 2012 Presidential Election.

Something I personally have observed in this election is the role of social media, with sites such as YouTube and Facebook, painting a rather ugly picture of some of the candidates, specifically Rick Perry. Like another student mentioned, the Ricky Perry “strong” campaign video went viral on YouTube, gaining almost 8 million views since it was posted on December 6th (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PAJNntoRgA) by Rick Perry’s presidential team. The ability to post comments on this video has been removed (I’m guessing due to the mostly negative response), but that hasn’t stopped “YouTubers” from speaking out against Perry, accusing him of being homophobic. From this link (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rick+perry+strong&oq=rick+perry+strong&aq=f&aqi=g2&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=1948l2555l0l2691l7l7l0l5l5l0l168l277l0.2l2l0) you can see the various videos people have posted on the subject, varying from personal opinions, parodies, and reactions. The infamy that Rick Perry has gained from this video makes me pose a couple questions: Is the reason this video and therefore the candidate is so disliked because younger generations, the main audience of YouTube, is becoming more tolerant and open to gay rights? Or is posting a video with a very strong opinion on the internet simply an open invitation for criticism? Because the negative comments on this campaign video very much outweigh any positive comments, I would likely side with the first point– that gay-rights is an issue that A. younger generations can understand with more ease than other topics such as health insurance and B. find more pertinent to their own lives and futures, and therefore feel more compelled to support. Like the textbook highlights how crucial young people were in Obama’s election, I feel like the role of young people in the issue of gay rights will be a prevalent one.

If you’re interested, more examples of the younger generations taking interest in this issue during this election include this article about a video (again a product of YouTube) of a student who leads her high school’s LGBT group questioning former candidate Michelle Bachmann (http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/12/student-challenges-bachmann-on-gay-rights/) and this article about gay rights being supported more by college students than Americans as a whole (http://chronicle.com/article/College-Freshmen-Approve-of/64685/)

Is Mitt Romney using a distant Mexican heritage to gain votes?

I recently read an article on the Los Angeles Times on the 2012 Presidential Election. This particular article focused on Mitt Romney’s Hispanic background and how although he thinks it wouldn’t be genuine of him to bank on his background to gain support from Hispanic voters who the article boasts make up “one-tenth of the Republican vote,” he definitely wouldn’t mind if those voters identified with his Mexican roots (Romney’s ancestors were U.S citizens living in Mexico, and his father leaved the country at age 6. Neither his father nor Romney himself learned any Spanish). This poses a question: How much does race play a part in an individual’s vote? In class, we concurred that to some voters, religion would play a large role in which presidential candidate would earn their vote, which would lead me to think that the same would be true according to race. Would it be fair for Romney to rely on his ethnic background to gain votes for Hispanic voters? No. Even Romney admits in the article that he hasn’t identified with this portion of his background, however he would be happy if Hispanic voters indeed made a connection. This article also poses questions about the 2008 election. I am definitely not implying that Obama was elected solely on race, however I do wonder how much race played a part into people’s votes. Besides the fact that candidates may be relying on their race to gain votes much like their use of religious affiliation, it is good to see that candidates are representing a more diverse set of individuals unlike the days of our founding fathers.

To read the article about Mitt Romney, you can copy and paste this link which will lead you to the LA Times article

Gingrich fails to land knock-out punch on Mitt Romney; Examining the GOP Talking Point Surrounding the Housing Debacle.

Newt Gingrich On the Ropes – GOP Lies About Housing Debacle

Newt Gingrich did himself no favors in last night’s debate. He needed to score some major body blows on front-runner Mitt Romney – he did not. He barely treaded water, ending up with no more than a tie in the must-win performance. Prediction markets capture the feeling surrounding his candidacy, with the likelihood of his winning the Republican primary falling to under 7 percent (down from 30 percent less than a week ago).

Rick Santorum and Ron Paul are increasingly non-factors. Santorum heads home today, no longer bothering to campaign in the winner-take-all state of Florida that he knows he can’t win. Ron Paul isn’t really angling to win – he has his message, he’s using this bully pulpit to broadcast it, and we assume he’s enjoying himself on some level.

It could be all but over on the Republican side after Tuesday.

Just as well. Bring on the real debate, between the pasha of plutocracy on one side, and the proponent of pragmatism on the other. The contrast will be stark between Mr. Romney and President Obama. We can trust the Republican candidate to do what Republicans always do, and as they did last night, warp reality to fit their ideology of unchecked, unregulated capitalism.

When asked last night what they would do about the housing mess, all four candidates fell back on their easy ideology and the talking point they’ve created to cope with it: The government created the mess, through the vehicles of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

In their lemming-like flight from reality, these four candidates – indeed, all Republicans – have re-written history for far too long. The housing debacle we are in was caused by unfettered capitalist excess, not government intervention. To reiterate: The housing crisis was created by unchecked oligarchs pushing bad loans and getting filthy rich in the process.

With increased deregulation and the consolidation of major banks, lenders no longer had to hang on to the housing loans they made. The numbers of bad loans mushroomed, with lenders realizing they could make a profit on ANY loan they made, as it could be passed up the food chain to a large investment bank. The investment bank then bundled the loans together and sold them as investment vehicles, bribing ratings agencies along the way to give the subprime loan bundles Triple A credit ratings. With no regulation going on anywhere, including the newly created investment casino-style games like CDOs and derivatives, the big players could make leveraged bets on almost any scenario, including huge bets on the decrease in value of the same mortgage investment bundles they were selling to investors.

Eventually trillions of dollars were in play, funny money leveraged to the point of absurdity, with Fed Chairman (and infamous Ayn Rand disciple) Alan Greenspan – and all other free market enthusiasts – thwarting any attempt to regulate the increasingly out-of-control leviathan.

Everything collapsed. The huckstering of easy loans at the ground level caused a frenzy in the housing market, pushing prices up and up. When the bubble burst, we could see what had happened: Unfettered capitalism did what it always does – it made a few people very rich and bollixed it up for the rest of it.

We remember wondering how the right wing would explain such a mess. We were quite certain they wouldn’t acknowledge that they had been so obviously wrong about the ability of unchecked, laissez-faire capitalism to produce the greatest good for the greatest number. We recall hearing the first of their salvoes, then what became their sole talking point on the issue: Fannie and Freddie. Fannie and Freddie. They found a couple agencies involved in the mortgage mess with government ties, and tried to pin the whole debacle on them. They did what Republicans did best: lie to their advantage, magnify their lie a thousand-fold through their hundreds of right wing media outlets (which scream incessantly of a “liberal media” HA), and worked to warp reality to fit their needs. (We are reminded of the Karl Rove dictum…Reality Is What We Say It Is….)

And what are those needs? What they’ve always been. To allow an unchecked capitalism to continue to produce wealth for the very few, at the very top, now and forever, amen.

Rerun. Isn't this What We Hear Every Two Years?

Nothing new, nothing interesting. Seems the ways of Washington, and though some do not mind hearing the same repeats, over and over again every election for whatever office, in my 58 years of life, I personally have grown tired of hearing the same ol’ “BS.” One of the most nagging matters that annoys me in all the years I have been able to vote, is why each and every two years we have to go through having to elect “somebody” for “whatever” office they are running for. Local elections, State elections, Senate and Congressional elections, and now, Presidental elections. ELECTIONS, ELECTIONS, ELECTIONS!

I don’t know about you, but as for myself, I have given up on even bothering to give a damn to vote. Of course, there will be occasions that I will go out to vote, but not as devoutly as I have in years past. The main subject of any elections you have, always dwells upon the empty and I do say “EMPTY” promises by many politicians to “lower” TAXES, ……and, they never do go DOWN. So why even mention the damn subject in an election? Ever since I turned 18 and became able to vote, much of what I “think” should be changed, won’t happen anyway, so my interest in the electorial process over the years has waned. If politicians can not gain an office by honest means, far too many will turn to illegal ways to still get elected, and I see this being done by the uses of the paper ballot system still being used in many places when we live in an age of high technology. Can’t manipulate a computerized system but you CAN manipulate paper ballots by recounts, missing ballots, or just down right making sure that people get misinformed as to where to vote in their districts polling places.

Honesty does not get people “elected.” The stupidity of people who are misinformed or manipulated within the vote DOES. Is this what made this country what it was at one time. Great. By all standards, in my own personal opinion, even this rating just like the credit of this country has diminished greatly to where being as it once was will take a lot of work to make this country creditable in the minds of many Americans.

Many politicians annoy me anymore with all the talk about how it is the fault and the dependence of the American people upon the government that is bringing it down. This is the greatest LIE being perpetrated upon the hard working, tax paying, patriotic people of this great country. And it is made so frequently by today’s politicians that I would like some of these rich bastards to have to tolerate one week of an average Americans “life.” I wasn’t always disabled as I am today, so I understand what many hard working people’s routine “is” when it comes to simply trying to have something you can call your “own.” And even now, when you do, this government sticks it’s hand out to gets it’s piece of the pie you work hard to earn.

Then you hear about how simple it is for these politicians to simply hand out your SWEAT to countries around the world in the BILLIONS of dollars with no strings attached, yet you and I are the REASONS that this country is going “broke??” Where the hell does this BS come from?

Doesn’t take a genius to see, that we are the “slaves” to a system that is BROKE. All the security you or I “thought” was being put aside for our futures if being given away and stolen by the need by those we elect to countries that do not and HAVE NOT paid into the United States Tax System! Yet, when it comes time for these incompetent’s to come up with an excuse for their behaviors, it is because WE the American public are to blame. Simply put, too many of us “dependant” on Washington for an existence. Really? The loving part of all these speeches I soak in, is how we have to listen to being given these condescending speeches while they can not do it to the peoples of all these foreign countries being given HANDOUTS. Oh, it is alright to bitch at an American woman having to struggle to support her family being on welfare or food stamps, but these jerks can’t do it to countries who get all these “billions?” When are the leaders of these countries going to be told to stand up on their own two feet as many of us are told when we have to BEG for help?

When I see a politician who runs a campaign and quits all the speeches on tax cuts, and PROMISES to get rid of all the WELFARE RECIPENTS who contribute nothing “into” the till of this country, tax payers of this country SUPPORT, then, maybe THEN, I might take an interest into the fact that all these rich politicians in Washington give a damn about the average Joe, AND take an interest on voting at every election. After all, it would for ONCE show that a politician gives a damn about REALLY cutting taxes, quit using it as a ploy to get elected and “honestly” show “FOREIGN INTERESTS” come SECOND to those who PUT the money in the till in the first place. YOU the tax payer.

When the budget of this country “allows” to give away just about the same amount that it SPENDS on social systems to FOREIGN countries, somebody before now should have ended this burden on the U.S. people that DO “pay” into the system. About 130 “billion” per year is given away to countries outside the U.S., while 170 “billion” is spent on our own social needs (social security). Ridiculous? This is one writer that thinks it is, especially when those foreign countries will not be telling “it’s” people that they have to do WITHOUT.

Nation building in America.

There is one candidate in the GOP field who stands out. He is called an isolationist, but he is not. He is a non-interventionist. There is a huge difference between the two. They call his foreign policy “dangerous” and say it would weaken the military, but it would strengthen our military. The most “dangerous” threat to our military is the bankruptcy of our country. If there is no money there is no military. Our dollar is being devalued daily and we are headed toward ruin. We have over 900 bases in over 130 countries that we can not afford to maintain. We are constantly meddling in the business of other countries. We need to close these bases and bring this money back to the U.S and take care of our own people. Closing bases overseas would result in more bases being built here for the defense of OUR country. We need to nation build here. There is one candidate who gets three times more donations from the military than all of the other GOP candidates combined. Guess who? The one candidate who would put America first is Ron Paul. Check out his website, ronpaul.com, and listen to what he says without the corporate elite putting a spin on it. A vote for anyone else is a vote for the status quo and is a wasted vote. If you want things to BE DIFFERENT you have to DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT. Ron Paul is probably our last chance to change direction.
