And why is she famous?

In a recent interview Edie Falco slammed Kim Kardashian and those who are influenced by her. When asked if she watches reality shows Falco responded “Who the hell is Kim Kardashian? Who are these people and why are they famous and why are they advertising things and being asked their opinions about things? I just don’t understand what these people did to be in a position of having everyone ask their opinions about stuff.”

She does have an interesting point, why does the public care about Kim Kardashian’s opinion? She hasn’t really done anything of value other than have a sex tape, a realty show and a big bum. However, on the same token why does the public care about Edie Falco’s opinion? She is an actress, some might even say a really good one, but that’s about it. Why do actors and singers feel that they are more entitled to have an opinion than reality stars are? What gives them more authority, just the fact that their job has existed for more than ten or twenty years? That’s it? I wouldn’t go to my physician to ask about financial advice and I wouldn’t go to my accountant to ask for medical advice so why ask an actress who is the best presidential candidate? Or which vitamin drink is the best for my child? It really doesn’t make any sense and yet people do it all the time. We trust celebrities to sell us clothing, food and beauty items. We even trust them to tell us which social issues are worthwhile and we give money to the causes they promote, but why? It seems that simply just because these people are familiar to us and we feel like we kind of know them even though we don’t, we are willing to believe that their opinions have some sort of bearing on our lives.

Another interesting point in this situation is that often times these same celebrities are extremely outraged when you try to impose on their private lives. Now this does make sense, most people don’t care to divulge their deepest darkest secrets to total strangers but am I, your fan, supporter and consumer (of stuff you sell, not of you-the celebrity), really a stranger? Why is it that when you, the celebrity, are trying to sell me things you are my friend but when I want to come up and say hi to you at a grocery store I am some creepy and scary stranger? Isn’t that a little bit hypocritical? Am I only your friend when I turn a bunch of money over to you? Is that not a little bit like being a gold-digger, or a prostitute? We can only have a relationship if I pay you, but if I refuse to do so you will have your pimp, bodyguard, come and rough me up? That doesn’t seem like a very healthy relationship. It’s almost as if celebrities just use the public for their own benefit.

It's Tiger's world...

Tiger Woods language at this year’s Masters was rather unbecoming. Among others, he dropped at various times a loud “Tiger Woods, you suck!”, an F bomb, and on a couple of occasions, even took the lord’s name in vain.

Not quite what you’d have expected from the old Tiger Woods, pillar of the community and paragon of virtue. But then, this isn’t the old Tiger Woods any more, is it? No, Tiger Woods has pulled a Bill Clintonian one on us all. Sure, we were all mad at him. But not any more. A quick stint at a country club under the guise of ’sex addiction’, a news conference and a bit of golf… and all is forgotten.

Sure, he told us he was going to clean up his act. But lets be realistic here. Tiger Woods learned his lesson. And the lesson is that when you’re Tiger Woods, there are no real consequences. The man had sex with half of the women in America, and what really happened? He lost a few endorsements. So what? Instead of making $100 million this year, he’ll have to limp by with a paltry $40 million. Poor guy.

Now theat he and soon to be ex wife Elin Nordegren are headed for divorce court, it’s just a matter of time until we’re all watching to see who he’s sleeping with now.

So of course Tiger Woods will swear if he damn well pleases, no matter how many kids are listening 20 feet away or on television. Who’s going to do a thing about it? The PGA? The PGA is buried so deep in his jock that he could play naked and they wouldn’t say a word. Republicans, or conservatives? Of course not. In the new age of Barack Obama, criticizing a black man for anything makes you a racist. The press? Come on. The guy is as untouchable as his buddy Michael Jordan now.

So get used to it. It’s Tiger’s world now. We just live here.

Finally. Time after time, we see celebrities cash in on being moral degenerates. They go out and behave in ways that most of us would become pariahs for, and we love them for it. They play repentant, the books get written, we revel in theur inspiring turnaround. But for once, it appears that there may be an exception to the rule.

Tiger has remained mum for the most part since his harem started to come forth, and that’s more than understandable… every time he has opened his mouth, another bimbo seems to fall out. But this time, the general public seems to actually be a bit upset. And unlike the normal celebrity status quo, Tiger is starting to feel this one where it hurts… in the pocket book.

Brett Pulley and Michael Buteau ofBloomberg did a little research into Nielsen’s television records, and found an interesting statistic: ads featuring Tiger Woods have completely vanished from prime-time television since Woods’ wreck; the last was a Gillette ad aired November 29th. Factored in with Gatorade’s dropping of the Tiger Woods drink, it would appear that the floodgates are about to open. And with reports that Nike, Proctor and Gamble, and EA Sports are jumping ship as well, it appears the bottom is falling out for low life Woods.

And it’s about damn time. Don’t make the mistake of thinking this will break him, because he’ll still be filthy rich. But initial estimates indicate that he may lose up to 90% of his income over this.

Finally, some form of accountability. As it should be. When you make your living off of the limelight, especially the way Tiger has… based on his squeaky clean ‘image of excellence’… when we find out it’s a farce, we should by all means be able to pull back their ability to get rich at our expense. A year flipping burgers would do Tiger some good. But then, they have bimbos there, too…

An assessment of the so called "maverick" Senator's chances, to be the Republican nominee for President of the United States of America.

If you look very far in the distance of this 2008 marathon race for the Republican

nomination, you might just see Senator John Sidney McCain,III, on his figurative

white horse, with his sword in hand, riding to the rescue of the honor of the United

States of America, something he deeply believes in. Senator McCain was born in

the Panama Canel Zone, August 29, 1936. According to records, he graduated

from the United States Naval Academy in 1958 and the National War College in

1973, who better to fight for honor. He has been cited as a war hero by many, after

being held as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam conflict. His father and grandfather

were both four star Admirals. Senator McCain has been a United States Senator since

1986. He is married to his wife Cindy, they have seven children and four grandchildren.

One os his sons is scheduled to be sent to Iraq.

In the beginning of the campaign for the nomination, Senator McCain was the leader

of the pack, expectations were high, as he is a seasoned Senator and although he is

thought of as a maverick by many in his party, he is a smart, logical politican in many

ways. The Senator made a few missteps, ruffled a few if not many feathers, over

immigration, shook up his campaign staff and came down on the wrong side of the

Iraq war and the surge by some accounts, when the surge began, but has since been

proven correct, with the surge working to calm things down in Iraq, at the present time.

Never the less, Mr. McCain’s fortunes in the campaign race faltered, along with his

ability to raise the necessary cash to run a sustainable race. No money, no advertis-

ments, therefore no message and no exposure, creating a loss of momentum. Thus,

Senator McCain fell back in the polls to single digits and the pundits and talking heads

began to count him out.

But old soldiers never die as the saying goes, especially one who has a burning desire

to lead the country to a better place and one who, some feel woud have the best shot

at beating Senator Clinton or Obama in a general election. Also, Senator McCain is not

a quitter. Certain things must happen, naturally, for Senator McCain to triumph. First,

he must place a strong third or second, even better, in Iowa. Then he has to win in New

Hampshire, which he has done before. Currently he is three points behind Mr. Romney

there, which is a virtual tie for first place. The voters like McCain in New Hampshire, and

he may pull off a win over Mr. Romney there, even with Mr. Romney being the former

Governor of a neighboring state. Then it’s on to South Carolina, which may be a little

tricky, but if campaign funds start to come in, Senator Mccain may be able to win there

as well. If all these things come together, a small miracle could occur.

Three papers, so far have endorsed Senator McCain, the Boston Globe, which said that

“Senator McCain has done more than his share to transcend partianship and promote

honest discussion of the problems facing the United States.” The Des Moines Register of

Iowa, stated that “Senator McCain is the Republican candidate, it believes is the most

competent and most ready to go”. The Quad City Times of Davenport Iowa, also

endorsed Mr. Mc Cain.

With these endorsements coming in, Senator McCain’s credibility factor, as a strong and

able leader is starting to take and he is looking better and better against the rest of the

candidates, Mr. Huckabee might disagree, but time will tell. Senators Clinton or Obama may

have a real fight on their hands come November 2008. Should prove be very interesting.
