Police Mis-informants

Informants, who also go by the terms “sources of information,” and “cooperating individuals,” among others, frequently play an important role in cases, feeding information to law enforcement during investigations and testifying in court for the prosecution. But there is a major problem with informants. They often lie. This seems to be a phenomenon attending incentivized testimony, where the witness is frequently a criminal testifying in exchange for a sentence reduction, a financial reward, or immunity from prosecution. A desperate criminal will go to any lengths to remain free or to reduce prison time.

This is classified as a felony of the second degree.
