Do the Affects of Revenge Ever End?

Revenge always leads to tragedy, no matter if the revenge is morally right or wrong. Revenge is an evil that can slowly build up and possess someone to do things him /her normally wouldn’t. Hamlet serves as a great testament to these things. In Hamlet’s culture he was morally right in seeking revenge on Claudius for killing his father, but did this revenge end up going the way Hamlet originally planned and how did the buildup of this evil affect Hamlet throughout the play?

Hamlet’s culture is responsible for the way Hamlet seeks revenge in the play: “Hamlet is the product of a culture that knew a truth beyond all the confusions and diversities of life. It is certainly logical to look at him in terms of that truth. If it be insisted that we today are too far away from it, then we must be too far away from Hamlet as well, who would survive as a relic of the past and of nothing else” (Davis 3). In other words, Davis believes that Hamlet showed truth in his madness and our generation today would not go to the extent of which Hamlet did to avenge his family, as so this makes our generation today “untruthful” in a sense. If revenge is looked at today it can be seen that it is a waste of time and always ends up wrong, but in Hamlet’s time it was a duty to avenge family. The ghost or Hamlet’s father in the play wants to be avenged and how can a son deny his father something so honorable: “So art thou to revenge, when thou shall hear” (line 8). Once the Ghost tells Hamlet that his father was murdered by Claudius, the fire is lit and Hamlet is set on revenge.

Hamlet’s determination possesses him and makes him perform duties of which he doesn’t want to perform: “My purpose in bringing all this in is to demonstrate the attitude of Hamlet toward a duty which he does not want to perform, but which honor, circumstances, and chance all require that he perform whether he like it or not” (Davis 43). Hamlet’s emotions come out and you start to see the revenge taking control: “By asking why Hamlet is aroused to react in turn with fear, desire, contempt, and disgust—not only towards Gertrude, but also towards Ophelia and the Ghost—I hope to show that Hamlet’s “problems” lie in his epistemological dilemma spurred by the material manifestations of “the inexpressibly horrible” (Kumamato 48). In the play Hamlet’s mentality has been changed in order for him to carry out these acts. He has turned ruthless and full of anger and expresses it as such by telling Ophelia: “get thee to a nunnery” (3.1 118). In other word’s Hamlet is calling Ophelia a whore and directly shows his determination in seeking revenge.

Hamlet seems to grow with evil throughout the play and most critics wonder if it has anything to do with the Ghost’s command over him: “Elizabethan ghosts, we are told, could be good or evil / The moral ambivalence of the Ghost’s command is made quite explicit it admits that murder, which is what it seeks, is even in, the best, most foul, Furthermore, the motives for the revenge it seeks are largely private there are many lines of heartfelt anguish at the adulterous relationship between Gertrude and Claudius” (Hughes 395). The Ghost seems to make Hamlet believe that murder will solve everything and that he must kill Claudius to avenge his father, but what if the Ghost is actually the Devil trying to manipulate Hamlet? This would explain a lot of things because someone’s father would not push revenge so hard even back in Hamlet’s era.

Hamlet was so overwhelmed with revenge that his safe plan of killing Claudius spins out of control. At first Hamlet was like okay, I’m not going to let this get out of control, I’m going to make the killing clean and prove Claudius’s guilt first, but it didn’t turn out the way he planned. Hamlet proves Claudius’s guilt and spots him kneeling and praying while on the way to his mother’s chambers, Hamlet contemplates how easy it would be to just plunge a sword into his back and let things be over with, but Hamlet feels that this would be a benefit instead of revenge as Claudius would go to heaven: “Now might I do it pat, now is a-praying / And now I’ll do’t – and so goes to heaven” (3.3 72-73). Instead of killing Claudius and being through with the murder, Hamlet decides to wait. Hamlet must give Claudius more of a death than the crime Claudius committed: “The revenge killing requires craft because it must equal the outrage of the original crime and satisfy the revenger’s intense feelings” (Brucher 257). Hamlet’s madness wants him to be satisfied in killing Claudius and leave him with a sense that payback has been served. Once Hamlet arrives in his mother’s chambers he hears Polonius cry out from the drapes and mistakes him for Claudius and kills him. This just goes to show that revenge never ends because if Hamlet would have just killed Claudius in the alley then more people would not have to die.

Claudius is now trying to get rid of Hamlet and plans to kill him in a “friendly” sword fight, but Claudius has a few tricks up his sleeve. Claudius has poisoned the tip of Laertes’ blade and poisoned a drink that he will offer to Hamlet. Hamlet refused the drink and Gertrude unknowingly drinks it, which results in killing her. Hamlet then kills Claudius and Laertes. Hamlet is now left alone and drinks the poison and also dies. This goes to show that revenge always leads in tragedy. Hamlet got corrupted with vengeance which led to the ultimate never ending ride of tragedy: “It is a play about vengeance and how avengers lose their souls, sin, and corrupt in turn” (Lidz 33).

In conclusion, revenge always ends up spiraling out of control and into tragedy. It will start off with a nice plan of action, but will always end up going wrong. Hamlet started off with a plan of action, but his vengeance led him into getting more innocent people killed, including his mother. Revenge never has a designated area to stop and when it does stop the damage has already been done. Revenge always leads into corruption and greed: “Any satisfaction a man may derive from punishing his enemy is more than outweighed by the utter misery he brings on himself” (Prosser 11). Hamlet’s madness ultimately leads him to destroy himself and others; twice the damage was dealt than originally because Hamlet acted with such vengeance and anger. Hamlet finally admits his madness in the end with an apology to Laertes: “Give me your pardon, sir / I have done you wrong, but pardon’t as you are a gentleman / This presence knows and you must needs have heard / How I am punished with a sore distraction / What I have done / That might your nature, honor and exception, roughly awake, I here proclaim was madness” (5.2 90-96). Hamlet is too late in realizing his madness in the end, however for tragedy has already struck. This all goes to show that revenge never truly ends and when it does tragedy has already struck, so revenge is truly a dish best served cold and should only be pursued with no outside factors or influences.

Presentation Outline

I. Hamlet’s revenge ultimately leads to his demise.

A. Hamlet is defended in going for revenge by his culture moral ideas. Arthur Davis says in one of his books that “Hamlet is the product of a culture that knew a truth beyond all the confusions and diversities of life. It is certainly logical to look at him in terms of that truth. If it be insisted that we today are too far away from it, then we must be too far away from Hamlet as well, who would survive as a relic of the past and of nothing else” (Davis 3) In other words, Davis believes that Hamlet showed truth in his madness and our generation today would not go to the extent of which Hamlet did to avenge his family.

B. It is great that Hamlet is standing up for the morals of his era, but to what extent does revenge stop and when it does isn’t the damage already dealt?

Hamlet grows with evil throughout the play and some critics have an explanation of why. Geoffrey Hughes believes that the Ghost is just a tool of the Devil and manipulated Hamlet to act the way he does. “Elizabethan ghosts, we are told, could be good or evil / The moral ambivalence of the Ghost’s command is made quite explicit it admits that murder, which is what it seeks, is even in, the best, most foul,” (Hughes 257).

So as this influence of revenge fires up Hamlet, his plan of making the killing of Claudius sort of clean cut, changes. Instead of killing Claudius while he is praying when it would be so easy to do he decides to wait and kill Claudius when he is sinning that way, he would not go to heaven. Hamlet’s mistake of not killing Claudius here results in the killing of two more innocent people including himself, Polonius and Gertrude. Richard Brucher says “The revenge killing requires craft because it must equal the outrage of the original crime and satisfy the revenger’s intense feelings” (Brucher 257). He stabs Polonius behind the drapes and Gertrude mistakenly drinks the poison and Hamlet decides to drink the poison as well to get rid of the misery. So is revenge really worth chasing after? You never know when it’s going to end and when it does tragedy has already struck.

the goverment is a very tightly sealed club in which powerfull indeviduals fight for the right to lead the great nation out of its great problems right?

i highly doubt that one ,,

we are voting for a select few “party candidates” who seam to come out of nowere with strange backgrounds, and with no real knowledge of who they are, and we as a society vote them into power! doesent this all seem a little strange to anyone else but me?

we follow their rules , and obide by their laws at all costs or we are punished, we are frown into jail and labeld a convict, when many times people were only demonstrating their right to protest against something that is wrong. the goverment has the nation wrapped round its finger, as it grows further and further into bankrupsy we as citizens pay more and more tax to fund their debts to the other nations who strangle the people for their currency.

change is needed, and needed soon

soon the pound will be worthless and people will starve and perish for the mistakes of the so called goverment that we so badly trust, they have got the world so distracted by going to work, paying bills, providing for the family, so that we dont see the big picture. that the goverment doesent want us to be free, no not at all.

I was just there…sitting in a crowd…and suddenly…I was just here. From there to here was as far as few inches. I felt things differently. There was as much sound as before , but it didn’t reach in..wasn’t overwhelming as before. There was a feeling of extasy..almost.

Now I could see it..the difference between in and out. In was real cause it had a relation to all that existed. And out didn’t feel as real..cause it was just passing by..fluctuating…Also cause it had only meaning for each one around projecting it or just thinking it might be real…

Now the paradox was clear….in was out of the bubble and out was caught in the reality of that bubble. Now, I could from inside, see how I was keeping that world together. I could also see in what way..it was just a lie..comfortable. The main difference was the amount of light that was naturally there out of the bubble and in me, and the total absence of natural light in that place around me. There was a separation, somehow…that looks like any movie with the good and evil. In my mind, it really seems so obvious, that good and bad were separated, giving meaning to one another, by their opposition. But from inside me, it made no sense. They were melted together and in that vision, I was free from them. At least, as I could see it, free from any interpretation, free from the fight between them…Now deep down within myself…there was a special kind of good…The good with no principles, the good that could hurt for the good…the good that was just the natural expression of the nature of man, the good that made the world a better place..for everyone. In the bubble, the good needed principles to support it. People had to think that they had to be good..it was the moral thing to do..but for principles, from what I see, you would have to fight against your will to hurt..your own need for good..No! now I knew…there was absolutely no need for life to be a struggle against oneself.. or any part of me. In the bubble, we tend to separate everything..so it will have a reason to fight..and fight and opposition was in the nature of that place…

Now, here in my self, empty, I was full…full of all the life. I had no idea, and didn’t need any.. Now I knew…I could be sitting anywhere in the world…throught my heart…cause the world, right there around.. was just a made up idea, shared by a lot of people… Well strange enough, it didn’t make it real….

My friendly God and Evil.

I saw God on road when i was walking. But you will ask me how and when??. Its simple, God was driving a car when i was trying to cross the road from no zebra crossing area. He gave a way to cross the road by simply smiling and slowing down the car.

I saw Evil when i was walking alone a corridor. But how and when??. Its difficult to explain. It was daily load shedding time and my parents forgot to light on the old and classic candle which don’t need any kerosene oil and battery or recharge. It can light up with simple wool deepen in cooking oil. It can glows over than hour or two with just a big spoon of cooking spoon oil. At same time without light i was trying to climbing upstir in dark regular steps. My foot had confused and trip down foot-steps that was my fortune i wasn’t fall down on downstair but my whole body got chill up. Thats’ mine inner mental and physical feeling / evil got me like some one caught my leg and trying to pull down in stair. At that time i feel like if I have evil feeling inside me then who need outer evil or enemy.

I saw a person nearly changing to evil on diving a car But how and when??. when i was watching from top of my house /hood. It easy to explain. A person trying to start his car but unfortunately he got the speed instead of slow start, miss place his foot on accelerator instead on brake and cluch. He was trying to take out his car from parking area and out of control might to hit moving road bikes and other vehicles. But all of them saved by their own control and self care. At that time i got a thought, if that person hit those vehicles he will be enemy of society and evil person but no. He saved and saved himself.

Which of these three is the worst tyrant in the history of the world? Using the allegory, Animal Farm by George Orwell, this paper explains the savagery of all three and leaves you to decide which is the worst of all time.

Tyrannical leaders similar to Napoleon led their countries into times of war, despair, and economic depression, and during these times the people’s quality of life deteriorated significantly. Although they may differ in their methods used to rise to power, dictators such as Adolf Hitler and Muammar al-Qaddafi abused their political power and forcibly oppressed their citizens to make irrational decisions that brought harsh repercussions.

First used by the Ancient Greeks, the term tyrant commonly refers to a violent, ruthless, and unreasonable ruler who independently gains absolute control over his nation and uses a multitude of different strategies to gain supporters which become loyal to the tyrant (Tyrants). Under this definition, Napoleon of Animal Farm can easily be proven to be a tyrannical mastermind as he also came to power by force rather than election. In addition, he exercises the use of propaganda with the help of Squealer to trick the less intelligent animals into believing that conditions were improving as they were obviously becoming much worse than before Napoleon ruled. Much like this method, some politicians may use false promises of restoring peace, granting freedom, or solving economic problems to procure a large number of followers (Tyrants). This utilization of misinformation and trickery is simply one of many tactics which tyrants employ to increase their authority and control. After coming into power, by using the manipulation of propaganda and the blind loyalty of many supporters, a tyrant can pass his or her own rules or amend existing ones to further establish their dominance over the people. Most of the time, the new regulations would only benefit the oppressive ruler and ultimately cause the circumstance of life for common people to plummet (Tyrants). In the course of history, infamous authoritarians such as Adolf Hitler have used these tactics to assert themselves as tyrants and hurled their nations into times of anguish and hardship.

Early in his life, Hitler became intrigued with the ideas of anti-Semitism and mass political manipulation. These beliefs are what enabled him to quickly escalate his social status until he created the Nazi party in 1932 and received enough recognition that President Hindenburg appointed Hitler as chancellor (Adolf). He made great use of his enormous support base by eliminating all other political rivals and then appointing himself as Fuhrer when the president finally died (Thomson). During charismatic and motivational speeches, Hitler made promises to fix the economic problems Germany was faced with from the depression, (promises which he would not keep). He exploited these fabricated assurances to keep the nation loyal while established his own police force and an immense system of propaganda, which allowed him to achieve complete control (Adolf). With these in effect, Hitler was free to do as he pleased while the people were unaware of his decisions, causing very little opposition. As the economy remained in a global depression, Hitler had no way of restoring stability and therefore he blamed Jewish people as a scapegoat for all the complications which he could never fix. His Nazi party which he created to gain many of his followers supported this nationalist plan, and the persecution of Jews throughout Germany soon ensued (Thomson). Using his propaganda system, Hitler convinced the people of Germany that they would need to prepare for war, and then six million unemployed citizens were put to work. The erratic decision for Hitler and his brainwashed army of Nazi soldiers to invade many nearby countries in Europe caused world a war to be waged on Germany. As Hitler and his army campaigned across Europe, conquering huge amounts of territory, he employed his “final solution” plan to imprison and kill all the Jews in each new land he took under his control (Adolf). This had major effects on the people as the Green Police shut down all Jewish businesses and worked to instill fear in the citizens. As Hitler and the Nazis made their way into the Soviet Union, they were faced with such heavy opposition from the Red Army that he recruited everyone from young boys to old men into battle with very little training (Thomson). As many people began to see how Hitler’s plans were causing conditions to sink tremendously, assassination attempts were conducted by some of his highest military officers. This internal disunity caused enough turmoil for the American soldiers to invade Germany, eventually conquering Berlin and brought the war to an end (Adolf). Hitler’s inability to successfully come through with his plans shows how tyrants’ ineffective manners of authority lead to disastrous outcomes, not only for the tyrant, but for the entire nation.

While some rulers slowly evolve into tyrants using manipulation, others quickly establish themselves as corrupted and irrational leaders, but usually both ways cause a similar end result. Muammar al-Qaddafi, a pious Muslim and Arab nationalist, began plotting to overthrow the Libyan king as early as when he graduated from college. He entered the military and speedily climbed through the ranks, until in 1969 a group of officers and he seized the king’s monarchy and took control for themselves. Qaddafi was pronounced the commander-in-chief of armed forces and chairman of the new governing committee, the Revolution Command Council (Muammar). He immediately began employing his radical nationalist ideals by creating many harsh and restrictive rules which conveyed his personal Islamic principles. Policies such as the removal of foreign military bases, expulsion of Jews and Italians, monopolizing other countries’ oil resources and a ban on alcohol were approved without consensus from the Libyan citizens. This caused Libya to be partially isolated by those Qaddafi wronged and made the Libyan citizens suffer trade implications and some sanctions to be placed (Wallechinsky). After 1974, Muammar was becoming more known in the international prospect for his erratic and unpredictable actions. He began financing a wide range of terrorist organizations and had teams of Libyan agents go to murder exiles in foreign countries (Muammar). Qaddafi’s increasing terrorist activity brought growing conflict with the United States government and in 1986 British warplanes bombed several cities in Libya, killing or injuring multiple civilians while they were attempting to kill him (Wallechinsky). Other such acts which caused his people to suffer was the establishment of cleansing committees, which were originally intended to help people in the workplace be equal. Instead, the groups operated to identify and kill anyone who opposed Qaddafi and could make an attempt to revolt (Muammar). Muammar al-Qaddafi was quick to develop tyrannical behaviors and abuses his power to oppress his people, while only focusing on his own values, which causes the populace to suffer greatly.

While tyrants and dictators both establish themselves into rule by ways of deceit, half truths, and military utilization, the natures of their rules are radically different though they both result in deteriorated living conditions for the people. Such as how Hitler used the Great Depression to gain supporters and then caused World War II to destroy most of Germany. Similarly, Muammar Qaddafi overthrew the government using his military control and when he came into power he allied himself with terrorists, which brought forth destructive bombings on Libya. They both made unreasonable decisions which brought harm to their people when they were only focused on furthering their power and trying to accomplish personal goals.

Why do people think that they are not held accountable for their actions? Do they think that they can go through life and do awful things to people and get away with it? It is so unfortunate that they never turn their bad ways around.

Many have an idea what its like to be tormented by someone. It just doesn’t feel0 good when people keep doing things that they know are going to hurt another. We all have done things that we’re not proud of but, tormented another is just down right wrong. What if they harassed you or tried to take your identity? I mean what makes a person (s) so evil? Well, it could be because they are so miserable with themselves that it makes them feel better making someone else miserable. Its quite sad that they will stoop so low that they are willing to get themselves in trouble with the law.

It is not easy dealing with people who could care less about right or wrong. They spend their lives trying to sabotage someones life but didn’t think that they’ll harm there’s instead. I must say that get makes me angry when people keep doing things to intentionally hurt others. I would like to sit these people down and questione them about what could have happened in their lives to make them so evil. They are difficult to deal with and you may feel a little sick to be in their presence. The best thing you can do is stay away from them. Even if you ask them to change the likely hood is they won’t until something drastic happens.

People should unite instead of trying to attack someone because you’re jealous of them or your life is not what you wanted it to be. No one deserves to be mistreated or attacked. I will continue to pray for people who try to hurt others to make themselves feel better. They did help and sometimes they have to loss everything they have before they realize it. Life is short and we must enjoy it besides who needs a miserable person dragging them down. It is sad and I pray that one day these people wake up before its to late.

An in-depth guide to Anne Frank in the holocaust.

In 1941 many Jews suffered during the holocaust. The Frank family was one of the most known Jewish families to have suffered during the holocaust. They were deprived of their civil rights. They were starved and mistreated in concentration camps. Also, most of the Frank family died due to either disease or the gas chambers. During World War II, the Frank family suffered much from Anti-Semitism.

Along with the rest of the Jews, the Frank family was deprived of their rights. They had to wear yellow stars on all their clothes which would identify them as being Jewish. Stores were also painted with a Star of David to signify that they were run by Jews. Jews would only be able to shop in those stores and many non-Jews would not shop in those stores since it could tarnish their names. This was bad for many Jews because they lost many customers since only Jews could shop there. To avoid this, some business owners, like Otto Frank, gave their business away to a friend who would take care of the business until the holocaust was over.

While still in Amsterdam, the Franks were registered as Jewish and had to sign papers saying they were Jewish. This made it easier for the Germans to tell which people were Jewish and stop them from doing some things. They also had to go to special schools that were only for Jewish people. If they did not go to that school before they were forced to go there and would have to make new friends. The same went for the teachers, Jewish teachers could only teach Jewish children and not Germans. This made life hard for the Jews and they couldn’t do anything about it.

Eventually, letters were sent to the Franks summoning Margo to the transit camp. Luckily for the Franks, they had a backup plan. The Franks, along with some other families, lived in the building behind Otto’s business. The conditions they lived in weren’t very good, but they were better than the camps. The Anti-Semitism shown by the Nazis forced the Franks to live in these terrible conditions. They had to eat food that was sub-standard and have smaller quantities of food. The Franks were later caught and all their valuables were taken from them. They had to pack very quickly and were then sent to the camps.

In the different camps, transit camps, labour camps and concentration camps, the Jews were treated very poorly. In transit camps, they were packed in cattle cars that were filled with around 300 people in each car. When they got to the transit camps, they were assigned a number. That number was then tattooed on them and that became their new name. They would then have to stand up for hours each day with little to no food until they either starved to death or were sent to another camp. If they were sent to a labour camp they were forced to do hard labour such as digging all day. They were often underfed and got sick very easily. When they were too weak to work anymore, they either got sick and died or were sent to death camps. At these camps, there were gas chambers where they would be put in, killed, and then cremated.

The Jews were treated very poorly during the Nazi regime. They were forced to live in substandard conditions and eat little to no food. They were dehumanized when they were given numbers, were registered as Jews and all the other atrocities happened. Also, many were just killed by gassing like an infestation of insects. The Jews encountered much Anti-Semitism during the holocaust.

Are people born evil?

Are people born evil?

What is evil? I believe it is something you become. I would define evil as being selfish. So selfish that you do not care at all about others or their well being.

I do not believe people are born evil. I believe people become evil. When you are born you are not evil, you are good. No one really remembers when they were a baby. This is because you are learning and developing your brain. You do not have evilness in you. Babies don’t do evil things. You are not born evil.

I believe you become evil. For the most part I think it is a choice. You always have a choice, no matter what. Most people who are evil probably had bad things happen to them. Their parents were mean, or they got bullied around. Most people who are evil would probably have resentment for something, but they get to choose how it effects them. They get to choose if they are going to react to it. Most evil people would take it farther then they should. Like kill the person who was bullying them. This is what would make them evil.

There are a lot of people who would say that evil people are uneducated. Or do not have an understanding of things. I disagree. Most of the evil people who do any damage are educated.

Chairman Mao for example. Most people would agree he was an evil man. He was also an educated man. He actually had the same education we call Statesmen and Leadership, or Thomas Jefferson education. He was self taught, read the classics, and was a brilliant man. So where did he go wrong? How did he become evil? He did not have a mentor. Mentors are like guides. They show us the way. Mao did not have a mentor or a guide. He had the education, but not the direction. I believe this is why most people are evil. You need a mentor otherwise you are lost. Without one you won’t have any direction. You may have the education, but you won’t know what to do with it, so you use it for the wrong reasons.

People are not born evil. They become evil. They become evil because they do not have anyone to guide them or show them the way. They are lost. You need a mentor in order to do and be good.

The daunting task of filling out paperwork...

One would think that in this innovative age of technology, much less paperwork would be required. Unfortunately, there are still many processes by which the necessary evil that is paperwork must be completed.

The recession that America is currently withstanding brings on the need for more paperwork. Whether we are filing for unemployment or job applications, the tedious process of writing our names, socials, addresses, phone numbers, and background information is somewhat daunting.

Isn’t there some kind of database where people can just keep profiles of themselves? Couldn’t there be a universal form that can be used and recycled from job app to job app?

I supposed if people are not working, time is not an issue. But I know that in more than one case, I have filled out a form at least 75% of the way, only to make an error eventually. Since more forms need to be in either blue or black ink, the process would have to be repeated. Far be it to turn in a form with a splotch, ink stain, cross out, white out, or spelling error…it’s hard enough getting a job with perfect forms.

For those who are employed, paperwork still haunts. Most banks offer e-statements, which eliminates clutter…but anytime I need to change information, request information, apply for a service…you guessed it…paperwork!

Doctor’s visits are a whole other issue. Medical history, insurance information, family backgrounds, ugh ugh ugh. For new patients especially, this example of filling out that mountain of forms is extremely daunting. My advice, arrive early enough to get everything completed!

In any event, paperwork is not a pretty issue. But, it seems it is the only way, at least for now. A little patience will go a long way.

Stories,myths,beliefs and celebrations!

There are many people that have different ideas about Halloween. Some people, mostly Christian’s,believe that it is celebrating evil.I am a christian and I have met many other Christian’s that believe as I do that Halloween is not a holiday for Satan it is a day for pretend and fun mostly for children trick or treating and/or having and attending parties. There are also some adults that celebrate by also attending or having parties.

Some adults stay home, decorate with store bought or handmade crafts, decorate the inside or outside. Some peoplThey enjoy having the kids come to their doors and happily say “Trick-Or-Treat!” and look at their costumes. The adults give the children candy, fruit, chips or another kind of treat for them to enjoy.

Some people do not enjoy the giving of treats or seeing the children’s costumes,so they turn out their porch light and don’t answer the knocks at the door.

The celebration of Halloween was started in Ireland, called Samhain(pronounced ”sah-win”) .Samhain is the celebration of the ending of the harvest season in Gaelic culture. The scary costumes were started years ago to mimic evil monsters(if you believe in such things),but not Satan.

There are some people that say that Halloween represents All Saints Day.However All Saint’s Day is November 2nd,a separate day.

Have fun and peace this year at whatever you chose to do to celebrate or not celebrate,Halloween or Sahwin.
