This article is about business agents who control illegal immigration reform, conservatives, and getting back to work.

The reason for the Republican sentiment for illegal immigration reform is because agents of Corporate America are demanding this reform from candidates they give donations. American politics start with major contributors. This is one of those unwritten rules.

Otherwise, how are the actions of politicians such as Marco Rubio explained. A person would have to be living in a cave not to know that conservatives have no patience for illegal immigration reform? I know people who identify them selves as Hispanic politicians need to speak to the politics of the larger part of the Hispanic people.

However, regardless of these politicians actions it is time for Americans to stand up. The continued illegal immigration by Mexicans and others is not in the best interest of the United States of America.

Big corporate farmers, manufacturers, and home builders need to get over their addiction to cheap labor. These groups make enough profit. They can afford to pay Americans a good wage to work for them.

I say we find out who these entities who manipulate politics from behind closed doors and not buy anything from them. The US belongs to the people of the United States, not corrupt politicians and manipulative money entities.

I wish politicians could be people of convictions and virtues. However, politicians make strategic moves in politics in order to generate wealth.

Therefore, the people of the US must keep these politicians in line. It will not be enough to help Mr. Mitt Romney elected to the office of the presidency. The people will have to let Romney know there values on a daily basis. I believe there will have to be many demonstrations, worker strikes, and email, phone calls, and personal visit campaigns.

I have written a lot about my problems with Mitt Romney. His credentials in business are excellent. However, Mr. Romney cannot seem to stay loyal to any belief system.

I have written about Mr. Romney’s superstitious religion. Conservatives who vote for Romney will not be voting for a Mormon. Voting for a person of Mormonism is not supporting the Mormon superstitions.

In comparison to Obama, Mr. Romney is better. The conservative people of the US will be able to keep Mr. Romney in line.

I am going to say it again. It is time for the US to bring her military personnel and their families home. The world is about to implode. America’s enemies, Iran, Russia, China, will try to take advantage of the chaos to invade the US.

Furthermore, the American Economy solution is for people to get back to work. The job does not matter. Long hours and little days to rest are not great issues.

Life is attitude. Work generates money. We use money to purchase the basics in life. Therefore, work has purpose.

I firmly believe that when people get back to work America will start working again. We should not hold success in this country hostage to our personal bad attitude.

I know what it is to want a different life and not get it. However, I still operate my taxi and pay for the basics of life.

It is without question we in the US are in crisis. However, most of the crisis is a crisis of the spirit.

We were talked in to and idea. This idea has not presented itself to us no matter how hard we work. Now we want to sulk and have a tantrum.

Part of my life philosophy includes being realistic in a healthy way. There is not need to look at what we have to do to survive with animosity, hatred, and loathing. God only promised us the sun, rain, land, and animals, not 500 million in a lottery.

Therefore, no one can claim that they do not have any resources to build a life. Fruits and vegetables can keep us alive very well.

We think that the modern industrial ideal is owed to us. I believe we owe our best to our selves. Negative and immature attitude is not our best.

Mr. Romney may appear a certain way. However, we can make sure he will act like an ultra conservative.

It is time for Jose and his cousins to go home. Mexicans in the US are unwanted guest, who have over stayed their “welcome”, and have now made pest of them selves.

In the last two days, I have had several conversations with citizens of Mexico. Yesterday, I had the brilliant idea of training the illegals from Mexico in the US how to be good urban warfare soldiers with the condition that these Mexicans would return to Mexico and take care of the corrupt politicians, corrupt business people, and the other criminals in their country. Mexico’s only chance is that the citizens of Mexico declare war on the agents of violence and death in their country. Of course, my concern was that these trained Mexicans would turn their weapons on Americans.

The US needs financially responsible, ethical, and moral political leadership. Taxes to pay for basic national services are adequate. Federal and all other governments should only spend on what is necessary for basic services, such as military and law enforcement. Regulations to protect consumers and employees from legitimate threats are also adequate. Governments should never do for people what people can do for them selves, such as keep track of their investments.

Now, we know that politicians promise but once elected do something else. I offer the republicans who got elected to the US House of representatives stating they would keep spending down and them helped raise the American debt limit as an example .

Therefore, We have no option but to help Mr. Romney to get elected. In addition, we are going to have to make sure all republicans who get elected in 2012 do exactly what we demand from them.

Farmers are the base of our worry-free lives. Our first and most important need in life - food is obtained because of them. But, most people in the society do not try to understand their importance or are completely unaware. This article is about some aspects of the lives of farmers.

Responsibility of farmers:

Farmers provide us with food. It is their responsibility to keep us fit and healthy. Farmers are therefore, expected to be aware of the scientific methods of producing food, basic sense of amenities and are expected to have a strong dedication towards cleanliness.

Education of farmers:

Most farmers, except in some of the developed countries, are not very highly educated, or not educated at all. As a result, they remain unaware of the improvements in agricultural science and technology. Also, this is one of the reasons for their lack of social status and financial strength.

Status of farmers in the society:

In the society, the farmers are not highly respected. Although, most rankings and social group listings list farming as one of the most respected professions, still, in most of the countries of the world, farming is not highly regarded. But this whole idea is totally wrong, because each one of us should be grateful to farmers since they are the ones who are keeping us alive with our daily bread.

Financial status of the farmers:

In most cases, farmers are not very strong financially. In the developing and under-developed countries, the situation is even worse. This is mostly due to the lack of initiatives to improve the lives of the farmers by the governments, as well as different non-government organizations.

Farming is one of the most important jobs in the world. If we do not start to put combined effort to improve the lives of the farmers now itself, it is not only morally wrong but also can prove to be harmful to the future of mankind.

Though FDI in retail is a sound concept by itself, it has some practical difficulties which needs to be addressed.

The Foreign Direct Investment in retail bill is one of the most discussed issues in India right now. The Parliament has been debating it for quite sometime. People have speculated that it is a ploy by the government to divert attention from the controversial Lokpal bill.

From an outsider’s point of view, the introduction of Foreign Direct Investment in the retail sector would have been seen as good news and a means to expand the sector. In India, even today, retail is carried out by small provision stores that dot every corner in every city, every town and every village. They are commonly known as “Kirana stores”.

Which is not to say that India never saw big firms entering the retail sector. Local Indian companies such as Spencers, BigBazaar and Fabmall started off the retail sector and it has been growing ever since. These firms have established quite a lot of branches and have plans to expand.

In that light, the government finally decided that it was time to allow foreign firms to take part in the Indian market by allowing foreign companies 51% ownership. Of course, the bill does not just give a free hand to foreign companies. There are certain provisions that act as safeguards. Firstly, the bill mandates that 30% of the products sold by foreign firms should come from small scale and cottage industries in India and these firms also need to spend on “Back-end infrastructure” like product development, warehousing, storage, production techniques, roads and other such areas.

The new bill would benefit farmers immensely. As of now, the farmers sell their produce through various middlemen and the middlemen extract really high shares and drives the prices of their produce up. As a result, the produce is expensive and the farmer gets only a mere fraction of the real value of the produce. Big retail stores approach farmers directly and buy their produce thereby eliminating the various middlemen and reducing prices, driving profits up and giving the farmers a fair share of their hard work.

Besides, it is common knowledge that when you increase the size of the food chain the prices of food will go down.

This looks pretty good on paper and theoretically it will help bring inflation down but there are practical difficulties here. First of all, farmers are not well networked. Their trust with the middlemen will stay for a long time to come. Partly this could be attributed to the fact that many farmers are not literate and this has been the way they have been selling their produce for the past so many years. This will change if there are extensive campaigns on radio and television informing the farmers about the benefits of this bill as far as they are concerned. The lack of such a network between farmers make it a little hard for big retail outlets to go and approach the farmers directly. Besides here, the biggest benefactors will be big farmers. Small farmers won’t be able to compete with the scale of the big farmers.

Fixing such a problem will take years and there perhaps cannot be practical solutions to the problem of small farmers vs. big farmers.

Again, the retail sector in India is not well developed. The range in products is not large enough, there is still the lack of variety within products. There aren’t enough producers for a product. The gap is closing though. The market is expanding and more variety is coming. But it is still going to take time for the market to adjust to the expansion of the retail sector. The problem here is that most retail firms abroad have their own products and their own manufacturing facilities whose products are slightly cheaper than the other brands. If these firms choose to import these products, India might face problems especially when you notice that India already has a unfavourable balance of trade with imports exceeding exports.

But the point here is that critics of the FDI bill are unnecessarily making a big hue and cry over nothing.

They must understand that once you pass the FDI bill firms like Wallmart, Carrefour or even Harrods for that matter aren’t going to come running to India. They also have to consider a cost-benefit analysis before they can come to any conclusions. And with the current market the speculation is that they will start slowly and wait to adjust to the market and understand it before making any serious investments in India.

It is going to be a very slow process of their integration in the Indian market. History has proved so. This was the same story in Indonesia, Brazil and even China. While China introduced such a reform long back over three decades ago, the integration is happening only now.

It is going to be a similar story for India and in order to expand the retail sector and boost the economy, you need to start soon.

So far, we know that pesticides are very useful in helping farmers treat the farm. Pesticides can prevent agricultural land from pest attack. This means that if farmers use pesticides, the farm will increase and will make the lives of the farmers became increasingly prosperous.

With this understanding, the pesticide is used on almost every farm. But, behind the hugely beneficial, the researchers eventually realized that the pesticide has a considerable adverse impact on its use. After investigation, pesticides can damage aquatic ecosystems around the farm. Why is that? If pesticides are used, will yield the remains of water containing pesticides. water containing these pesticides will flow through a river or stream irrigation and can fertilize algae in the waters of the river or irrigation was empty.

With the proliferation of algae, sunlight can lead to difficult to masu into the lake. This resulted in the animals do not get a light or phytoplankton. If the phytoplankton do not get a light, then it will not be able to photosynthesize and can no longer produce food for water animals.

Besides damaging the ecosystem, pesticides can also interfere with farmers’ health, especially health. Drngan menggunakanpestisida frequent, so skin contact with pesticides will also be more frequent and can cause skin irritation. Or if pesticides inhaled and enter the lungs, can interfere with respiratory health.

Given the adverse effects of pesticides, more farmers are encouraged to use organic farming systems that do not use chemicals at all. But the farm with this method also has the risk that is susceptible to pests. But the results of this agricultural sanngat healthy and will not harm our health.

Other studies also mentioned that the risk of cancer in people who smoke oarang caused by the use of pesticides at the time of planting tobacco. If we compare those ancient times, although they are smokers, but they remain healthy and do not have cancer. This possibility is because the ancients have not used pesticides during planting tobacco.

Therefore, farmers should not be too much use of pesticides and organic farming. Organic farming is very beneficial and has no harmful side effects to the environment or the body.

This article discusses about effect of globalization in a way that differentiates between rich and poor(Indian scenario).

Poor versus Rich and Rural vs. Urban debate is old. Gap is not the same it will be the beginning of civilization , as in contemporary society.Marcus Carl the class struggle – the sovereign and its definition on the basis of the proletariat or the exploiter and exploited. In the Indian context, India has been land of villages. Rustic lighting and state of the amazing divesrsions get to see here. Politics did not dominate the rural system , so it has worked autonomously. Numerous gusts have been hitting Indian culture for thousands of years the culture of the country protected by law. That loop Dushynt his verse, the son of Bharata India in the name of the name but the name has had on the Bhumiputron , which measure time by the shadows of the sun.Development of the law holy cities, rural – thrive in the same village and city, between the interval after the independence grew. The city has prospered at the expense of villages – began to thrive and the resulting concentration of the poor village and city of the rich. With the ‘Indian’ versus ’Indian‘ out of the proverbial. Our country is rich in natural wealth and human resources of our youth in America – to developed countries like the UK have raised the flag of his success

However, ignored the common man is. Many Ideas were developed to help poor but none reached the prime. Poor are forced to eat out a kernel of grain from droppings , even if Nehru’s eyes came alive. But the irony was probably written by Rabindra bleak - ” language will change , coward that I am the state. ”Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi finally accepted that he was being sent from the center of one rupee only 15 paise last person reaches. Clear is that money going into the sewer of corruption. After independence, Government’s priority is the development of cities. Under the guise of globalization reach all the villages are Kmpanianँ multinational and conventional agriculture are attacking the system. Farmers who were farming for their livelihood , leaving the conventional farming, horticulture and other cash crops are being lured to. Contract farming for others due to the increasing trend of wheat yields began to move back to goal and is resulting import wheat from abroad. Farmers to grow the crop instead of your favorite retail stores are being asked to create products to sell. Contract is lush crops fail, farmers have no one to hear the pain. In the name of SEZ land to farmers at low rates the way they are being forced to flee. Is clear that multinational companies Citizens for the farmer to the consumer.

In this age of globalization “ welfare state “ concept has taken a backseat. Who settled in villages, farmers , workers , artisans, the government left their fate. Price hike and among rising unemployment – such as the rich – poor gap grew , though – the farmers’ suicide ,death by starvation and increasing social inequality Grin trends. National Crime Records Bureau in the country to look at Onkdon year 2002 an average every 30 minutes, a farmer committed suicide. Year 2005 in the 17131, year 2006 in the 17060, in 1997 and 2006 among the total 78737 farmers committed suicide. The saddest aspect of the picture that most of the provinces rich farmers are committing suicide. Maharashtra alone in the year 1995 so far 36 428 farmers have committed suicide.Ministry of Rural Development, according to a report about two million people have been evicted from the land and of these only 54 million people have already been restored. ‘ Special Economic Zone ‘ type ‘Special Elimination Zone ‘ are transformed into If , Maharashtra ,Andhra Pradesh , Karnataka , Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh as ‘Sage ‘ suicides in states in the 6.2 percent growth automatic exhibits.

The biggest contradiction is that the economic prosperity of the song while a vast majority of the country is far from this prosperity. All of which led to the development of a ring from the sticks that are rich are getting richer , and poor day per day are getting more poor. The globalization of economic development in the modern environment ,liberalization and privatization of the picture comes to mind. From Parliament to the streets GDP and share – the Sensex shed economic growth is becoming famous and the media to increase it – without the features. Which the Constitution envisages that the public welfare state , is reduced to a matter of social development.Government has forgotten that capitalism , socialism or any ism is only a means , not doable. Provable lies in the development of the whole society , not in the development of a limited part. Economic development where Companies that would benefit a handful of the nation , while India’s majority tribe is able to be denied or negligible benefit. Trinkle down the theory fails. Therefore, the social development of the majority of the basic examine Shy Ktaon is dependent on the completion , in the absence of comprehensive and overall development of the nation is not possible. More than a billion dollars is owed income tax on all companies, so these capitalists billions of rupees on the banks balance. Economists like Dr. Amartya Sen has clearly indicated that the problem is not production , but has the same distribution. Concentration of capital and resources in economic development, which is against the concept of the welfare state. Yet many governments are creating barriers in the path of social development. The country’s 70 percent of the population away from urban facilities , a third of the population are below the poverty line , nearly 35 per cent are illiterate , where poverty, the multi-child play – jump-old saddled with child labor are given , where government jobs are being lost , subsidies days per day are reduced , definitely does not augur well for the development of the nation.

National Sample Survey Organisation report issued by the Government to look at the conflict of urban versus rural makes public appearances. As it is still one fifth of the rural population (about 14million) only 12 rupees a day is doomed to live life. 19 per cent of rural living – bread annually to run the 365 does not add money. 1/5th of villages are made of clay walls and roofs which are forced to stay below the 31per cent of rural barely a roof or wall of the arrangement have not been able to secure one. Despite productivity villagers 251-400 rupees are driving to work in the food on food in urban areas 451-500 rupees are being spent monthly. Even the big – big claims and to issue subsidies in the name of villagers , but in reality is something else.Despite all the LPG subsidy only 9 per cent is destined for the villagers, three-quarters of the rural population still depend on dung and dry wood. 42 per cent subsidy on rural power are dependent on kerosene to remove the dark. The most vivid example is the spending power of urban versus rural. Urban India every month where 1171 is the total expenditure , while in rural India, only 625 rupees. This situation can not be said satisfactory. The economic development – with economic inequality has widened the gap to keep the bridge is necessary because Krodhaen ragamuffin people dream of the nation’s prosperity can not be seen. Upheaval in the gale will fly not only poor cottage , rich, luxurious villas will be a bust. ”

America’s famous thinker Noam Chomsky in an interview recently in the growing conflict is discussed openly. That is why GDP in terms of where India is ranked fourth in the world , such as the international standards of human development , longevity and healthy life , education, etc. depending on the quality of life in the 126 th number is on.Consider the financial condition of the people of the United Nations, India 54 counts in most poor countries. Today the 0-5 year age group of Indian children about 50 percent are undernourished, and per 1000thousand new-born children, 60 per cent in the prior year period – are killed. Is clear that the top can see which form of development in India, are taking a handful of her happiness , while lower levels of society is far from this development.

Now the time has come for the poor , farmers , workers ,Dalits , backward classes and tribal consciousness and awareness should be comprehensive in that they examine their basic Shy Ktaon to force governments to meet. Remember the 1789 revolution in Paris in the first state , where the king for bread Mangoan 18 km 0 km 0 km were reached Warsaw. For blacks in America, Martin Luther King Jr. historic March 1963 mandate of the success achieved by Gandhi in India on the basis of visits made to the British leaving India. The tradition from time to time been tried. Recently, 2 October 2007 go to Gwalior on18 states, nearly 27,000 landless peasants when the rulers in Delhi for three weeks to hear his voice 400 km 0 m 0 the long non-violent march28 October at Delhi’s Ramlila Ground entered , it felt as though they are alien in their own country. Land , water and forests are demanding their rights to these underprivileged wonderful story of its suppression.Indeed, the democratic values of feudal society and capitalist system impact collisions, small farmers , laborers , scheduled castes and tribes, as people often had to bear. Own Reserve Bank Governor Y.V.Reddy warned that the 9 percent annual growth rate of India’s agricultural and non – the disparity between farm families and will increase.

Is today the nation’s real problems should be seen in their original context. Should reduce the gap between rural and urban.Ordinary people to divert attention from their needs they are always created a diverse range of comedy. Ever Temple – Mosque , sometimes national , sometimes communal , sometimes Kashmir to terrorism are misleading people by raising the issue of the under-the-go. It’s necessary that every one should get equal chances and poor who have been dominated from an era should be provided special provisions to breach the gap betweeen rich and poor .Then only poor-rich gap can be filed , Indian vs. Indian conflict will end ,will lead to social justice and social democracy, and India on the world map as a prosperous nation will make its leading position

15 suicides per hour? Compared to last year in India, more and more people are committing suicide due to problems mainly financial and abuse.

According to the Indian government, more than 15 people commit suicide each hour. The statistic revealed that out of the 1.2 billion population, about 139,000 committed suicide. This was a 5.9% increase from the figure last year.

According to the National Crime Records Bureau, last year recorded a suicide rate was 10.9% with this year seeing an increase to 11.4% this year.

Male suicides were mainly due to debts and financial difficulties while females’ were due to domestic pressures such as mental and physical abuse and also demands for dowry.

The 2008 World Health Organizing report ranked India 41st in terms of suicide. This accounted for 20% global suicides.

The figures showed that southern Indian states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Tamil, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh recorded the highest rates of suicide in India.

The impoverished farmers in these states killed themselves mainly due to insurmountable debts as a result of loans from banks and loan sharks acquired to buy seeds, farm equipment, large dowries to get their daughters married that plunged them over the edge.

Sociologists in India say most people in India commit suicide due to high expectancy from the recent booming Indian economy. Their aspirations get too high and when they are not attained, they tend to commit suicide. This mostly happens to those who belong to the lower and middle classes.

Abhilasha Kumari, a sociology professor in New Delhi said one factor accounting for the increase in suicide rates was the fact that young men who left their traditionally large and village communities to urban settlements where there are no family supports and thus commit suicide since they have no one to turn to in times of distress.

Alabama passed an anti-immigration law that is having profound consequences on farmers and children left behind as parents go back to Mexico.

Alabama Immigration Law is hurting farmers and questions have arisen as
to who will pay the medical expenses of incarcerated illegals. Seems nobody
thought the law would be declared ok and that illegals would move out of the
state taking their children with them which will cut any benefits the schools
receive from the state to educate students. Price of Alabama poultry and
tomatoes will rise adding to the cost of living in Alabama since nobody wants
to work in the farmers’ fields doing backbreaking work. Maybe now Congress will
do something, after they (we) pay for a border fence. Some of the children are
actually American citizens since they were born here in the United States. Something needs to be done to help these
children who are left behind as their parents go back to Mexico and leave their
children with relatives, friends, or institutions.

The Fruitcorso annually attracts the attention of more than 100.000 visitors

and is thereby one of Netherlands biggest events.

The Fruitcorso has, besides the improvement of the tourism in this area

a very important social and cultural function.

History

The godfathers of the Fruitcorso Tiel are Bernhard Bruggeman and Joop van Hesteren.

The first Fruitcorso took place in 1961 and nine villages in this region attended.

Soon it became a matter of honour for all the villages in the surrounding of Tiel to make a float as well.

They established Corso Associations and the designers tried really hard to make the best design.

Soon the Fruitcorso has developed itself to a big and unique event

by which the participants try to take the wind of each other’s sails.

Explanation Foundation 4-Stromenland

Foundation 4-stromenland is an organisation directed by volunteers with a relatively small board.

The different tasks are divided within the board.

It is clear that an event like the Fruitcorso cannot be organised by such a small group of people.

Therefore almost all board members have formed their own committee, who, under their responsibility, perform some tasks.

These tasks partly exist of executive activities but also of policy preparation activities which are mainly focussed on following the strategy on the medium term.

There are within the Foundation 4-Stromenland, apart from about 2.000 of floats builders, several dozens of volunteers active.

Goal

The statuary goal of the Foundation 4-Stromenland is the promotion of the tourism in the ‘Rivierengebied’ (river area) on non-profit base.

To achieve this goal, the Fruitcorso is organised annually. The Fruitcorso has, except for this formal goal, also an important social function. There is a major involvement of the floats builders.

The board has therefore decided to keep the amount of floats the same or preferably increase it. This is also to make sure that there will be enough volunteers to organise the Fruitcorso in the future.

To guarantee the commercial basis and the financial continuity of the Fruitcorso on the long term the number of corso teams must be kept the same and the aim is to attract more visitors.

The Article is about how the American public is being accused of false chants to protect the right of those who work illegally for substandard pay and protection.

The new immigration laws and border checks have become a cry for many. The call it unfair, racist and many other names. Since the economy has become so bad and we are in a severe recession, many illegal workers have left the country and returned to home countries because the money is just not there anymore. So farms say they have to find workers through prison release worker programs.

The reason? They say it is because illegal’s will work the field jobs Americans refuse to do. Who started this rumor? I think it started with the farmers themselves. During the last great depression in Oklahoma, many people migrated west to work in the fields. The sought the land of milk and honey in California and other western states that had crops to pick.

This was the time that Steinbeck wrote about in his book, The Grapes Of Wrath. My own family heritage was a part of the movement from the Oklahoma and Texas as workers that found their way west to California and the fields that were ripe for harvest and jobs. They were called field tramps and even as a child I remember following the crops as my family picked cotton, cut grapes, picked peaches and oranges and harvested any type of crop that was ready.

It was a paycheck, outdoor work and great competition for the young and old alike. It was family. Everyone worked together. Even in Oregon for many years, older school kids were let out for three weeks when it was time to harvest the green bean fields. They would be paid for their work and it was their money for the summer for fun, clothes, trips and other needs.

But all that began to fall to the way side when farmers began to hire illegal workers to fill the jobs. Illegal workers did not have to pay taxes or other income. They would work for pay that was way below the minimum wage and never say a word. Farmers did not have to report their pay or pay taxes on illegal’s. They could pay under the table and not have to report income, taxes, wages paid or stick to standards that the government set to protect the American worker with pay that was at least minimum wage.

Eventually they were able to begin the chant of “they work jobs Americans will not do.” It is not true. American workers began as frontier survivors. Facing the hardships of farming and ranching in a new land. When illegal workers are allowed to over run a job source because of illegal pay standards, it undermines the American public and the jobs available.

Basically, any American that was not Hispanic or illegal was pushed out of the profession loved by many. No one is telling them not to work the fields, but we are asking that the false chant stop before something happens. We are a nation of mixed cultures and when you arrive legally, it is your right to be protected against companies that hire without protection. No more under the table jobs for illegal’s. If you are an American it should be your right to seek field work without worry of violence. No American, no matter what cultural background, should be pushed from jobs.

Opinions are welcome. I am not a racist, so do not accuse me of being one. It is not an excuse that will work for this cause. Face the truth and stop the lies now.

Imported food from distant lands causes a major environmental impact.

These days the shelves in any supermarket look the same whether it is winter or summer and this is allowed by the global marketplace. Importers and manufactures will say that in this way we help producers in other lands. However, I doubt it, and, on the other hand, it becomes a major environmental impact, because of the shipping from one end of the world to another.

It also means that by buying fruits and vegetables from distant lands, our own local producers will be ruined and many of them will have to quit their harvests to find work somewhere else.

Every season produces its own different produce. We can´t expect to get strawberries or asparagus in winter time, because this is a spring produce. If you get them at Christmas time, they will most probably have been stored. The same applies for meat, especially lamb, which best time is in or around Easter time.

Anyone who is able to produce its own food will definitely be a free person. One may agree on this or not, but our basic needs are a roof over our heads, food and clothes, and the rest are accessories that we can go without.

I had a friend who lived in a little farm in the region of La Rioja, which is, as everybody knows, an important wine producing region. This man had, as I say, his little farmhouse, a plot where he harvested different veggies and fruit. He also reared a pig, which meant that some meat was guaranteed on the table and he also produced his own wine.

When we sat in the front of his house in a warm summery evening to enjoy the food and the wine, I used to tell him how well he lived.

This man didn´t have many of the modern gadgets, apart from a good radio set as he liked listening to it while he did something else. He had few books that he got in second hand bookshops, because he loved reading. I always thought that he portrayed the happy man as in the story I was told when I was a school girl.

In many European cities, they have started to harvest fruits and veggies by allowing some people to have a small plot. Actually, I have a friend who got one outside London. In this way, these people can take home what they produce.

If this project hasn´t reached your cities, I would suggest, at least, to support our local grown produce rather than buying imported food from others lands. It tastes fresher, seasonal and we help our local farmers to live

on their own work.

They say that food supplies for the world population will be a serious problem in the future. I am not sure about this statement, but if we go apart from our roots and we abandon our local food producers, it will certainly be one.
