This article is about accepting who you are and coming out of the closet, as demonstrated by an African-American Woman of Color, who is a Gospel Singer and who recently came out the closet and said that she was gay and a lesbian. The article speaks of the struggles she faces in the Black Church and the Black Community. It speaks of the shame involved, which caused her to over eat and deny herself the life which she deserves. The author also speaks of how this young woman finally acknowledged God in a most crucial way, by accepting who she was and stepping from behind her forbidden self.

The author also a gay African-American Person of Color speaks of about how difficult Blacks might have it in coming out where the Black Church and the Black Community are concerned. He speaks of the reassurance needed for some gay people and about how unfortunate it is that gay people need a support group to be who they are. He speaks of the down-low lifestyle, which people hide behind.
