Tha-One.com article on the hottest music out right now.

By Sadruddin Junejo / Tha-One.Music writer

Unfortunately the world of modern music is so vast that even a thousand of me wouldn’t be able to cover everything released during a single week. However, I like to think I’m doing my duty as a model citizen by only showcasing music that is worth your time (with the exception of my Lana Del Rey review a month ago, but hey, I saved you a decent amount of money, didn’t I?!). Today I’m simply going to outline a few singles from last week that requires urgent checking out or else the world will cease to exist. …okay, not really, but still, check these out!

Gorillaz, James Murphy & Andre 3000 – Do Ya Thing

A collaboration of epic proportions as Damon Albarn & Co, the dude behind LCD Soundsytem and everyone’s favourite hip hop songwriter (or at least, he should be) join forces to produce this delightful avant-garde robo-funk track (and other clever adjectives).

Crocodiles – Sunday (Conversation #9)

Apparently these guys are supposed to be art-punk. Honestly, this track sounds a bit more like pop-punk with a slight tinge of shoegaze a la Jesus and Mary Chain. Or maybe that’s what ark-punk is? I dunno.

Carter Tutti Void – V3

In a word: holycrap. This song is sex with added bass. I honestly can’t think of a better description. Okay, it might lie somewhere in the realms of industrial D&B with rhythmic tribal aah screw it just listen to this!

Gaz Coombes – Sub-divider

Hey, it’s the guy from Supergrass! Gaz Coombes impresses with an honest debut solo effort that sounds slightly like his original band’s Road to Rouen album at first before showing off some explosive guitar playing. Me likey.

The Futureheads – Acapella

This is amazing. The Sunderland post-punk rockers took it upon themselves to make a horrible song good (sorry Kelis, we still appreciate your, ahem, Milkshakes) and they somehow succeeded. Now the song is exactly what it says on the tin. Hilarious stuff, and greatly appreciated!

The cultures of this day go back to the tale of one of several Religious martyrs known as Valentine’s who, according to record, was martyred by beheading.

A funeral service was provided by Pope Gelasius I in 469 AD but in 1969, it was overlooked from the Common Roman Schedule. However, there is still wide-spread party on Valentine’s Day around praise, in which partners ask for delights.

Customs

The reputation of the time frame is based on a composition by the English creator Geoffrey Chaucer, “Parliament of Birds”. In 1383, probably on the situation of Valentine’s Day party, it was accomplished and was first provided widely at the trial of Master Rich II.

In the composition of Chaucer, it was described how the wildlife collect to spend this vacation to the goddess of Characteristics so that everyone discovers a associate. Since the Fifteenth Millennium in Britain, partners started submitting small presents or poetry during this day. From then on, the mixture of characters and blossoms was replicated by the English.

Declares and so after the Second World War, the first “Valentine’s Ball” was presented in Nuremberg in 1950 by U.S. defense force. Valentine’s Day was usually recognized to be on the 14 so prior to Feb, there is an improved increase of flower shops and marketing of the confectionery market.

There are now Valentine’s sweets, Valentine’s credit charge playing cards and fragrances marketed but the most well-known presents on Feb 14 are still blossoms. While blossoms are traded throughout the season, it is mostly men who buy blossoms for females.

In Asia, females give sweets to men on 14 Feb. Sometimes, females will delay it monthly later on Light Day, with sweet as a present. Even area take this day as an chance to provide chocolates to young boys, which they properly made themselves.

It is true that teenage girls love receiving candy hearts and cute stuffed animals on Valentine's Day. Grown women usually want something other than the over-commercialized candy in heart boxes and vases of cut flowers that are prolific in every store during February. She probably won't tell you so here's a heads-up.

It is that time of year again. You’re starting to stress because you have to make a decision that can make or break you. The stores have stocked the aisles with chocolate candy in pretty red boxes and teddy bears dressed in lace and ribbons. There are rows of cut flowers in vases and the jewelry stores have hired extra temporary staff. There is the feeling of expectation in the air.

This Valentine’s Day, you can either score a homerun, or a trip to the doghouse. Grief can usually be avoided though quite easily.

Why not do something out of the ordinary? Jewelry, chocolates and flowers are usually appreciated but you can do better! Put some thought into it and take the initiative. Women love it when their man surprises them with something that demonstrates how much he values her.

There are so many possibilities these days with the help of the internet. Reservations can be easily made. Theater tickets can be bought. Even weekend flights can be browsed and there are great deals to be had for weekend getaways.

Another great Valentine’s gift that is sure to be appreciated would be a gift certificate for a pedicure, manicure or massage, unless you are a gifted masseur yourself which might save you some money. Make reservations for dinner or cook dinner for her yourself, providing you are accustomed to cooking. Gourmet coffee or tea makes a great gift if it is something she enjoys. If you know what she likes, your job is easier but if not, pay attention now. Take her for a stroll in the mall and listen to what she says and what she has an affinity for.

If money is a problem, there are still low cost romantic options. Picnics can be a lot of fun if it isn’t too much work. Fly a kite together! Some ladies love to go dancing, others love to go bowling. You can take her on an old fashioned date to a movie but make sure the genre appeals to you both. Check the internet for local events in or near your area. Amusement parks, museums, art galleries or a sight seeing trip are all possiblities. Rent bicycles if the weather is nice. It is possible to have an enjoyable day on a budget. Your lady will very likely appreciate the effort you make.

Valentine’s Day can be drama free with some thought and preparation. With a little imagination, a good time can be had by all and some wonderful memories can be made.

The Christchurch earthquake earlier this year made world new, being the centre of attentiong. Old building collapsed under the giant earthquake - but what were the responses and effects of this?

New Zealand Earthquake

Just after the 7.1 scale earthquake, on the Richter scale, New Zealand is hit with another earthquake and this time at one their CDB Christchurch. Christchurch, as seen on the map, is located in the South Island of New Zealand along the eastern coast. This earthquake occurred on 12:51 pm local time on the 22nd of February Local time just 5 kilometres deep and ten kilometres south of Christchurch with a 6.3 on the Richter scale. Although the new earthquake is New Zealand has been less powerful in terms of the Richet scale, unlike the other earthquake in September which hit suburban areas this one hit a CBD.

This catastrophic earthquake has caused the death of 1455 people and over 200 people are still missing. The cause of this earthquake had been the clash of the Indo-Australian and Pacific plate which was another reason for the huge amount of damage is that most of the buildings destroyed were older than fifty years and they were not earthquake proof. Also the newly discovered fault line near Christchurch which caused the earthquake was unknown. A lot of New Zealand’s seismologists say that the newly discovered fault line was cleverly hidden and could not have been discovered without extensive research.

The many consecutive events of the New Zealand and Australian natural disasters have caused an increase in the cost of living.

“It expected a $NZ3.5 million after-tax hit.” Said Tower managing director Rob Flanagan.

According to Miyamoto International the overall loss of the earthquake and its aftershock will be at least $12 billion dollars.

There is no doubt that the cost of living will go up but by how much is still a question because many of the buildings destroyed were partially destroyed by the first earthquake.

Mr. Higginbotham, structural engineer, says that the city will take five years to rebuild and that one in ten buildings was destroyed and the other damaged buildings could be re-built probably.

After the earthquake of September which had a death toll of zero, the tourism in New Zealand was considerably low. Now after the second earthquake in five months it will take a miracle for New Zealand’s economy to pick up. Tourism will most likeably be, as said by businessweek.com, hammered and since the country was on the verge of recession it will take a long time for New Zealand to recover. It seems almost unbelievable that on the morning of the earthquake it had seemed like a good day for New Zealand’s economy as the wages of milk and dairy product farmers went up by over fifty percent.

The effect on natural environment has been obvious. Liquefaction, where very wet solids start to act like liquids, has occurred across the widespread soil. Many cliff faces have fallen off from the violent shakings and pollution has increased because of all the debris and waste.

Information on death toll and people missing is from 26th of February

I made a goals article, linked below, and here's how I did with those goals. Enjoy!

Earlier this month, I made a “February Goals” article. Figuring that I actually made one, I think I’ll do a follow- up article, explaining on whether or not I met those goals.

My first goal was to earn more money. I did, in fact! This is the first month where I actually submitted a substantial amount of articles, about twenty or so, and with that said, obviously I’ll earn some money with that. When I wrote the article, I can bet I had around ten cents or so in my account, and I jumped to .64 cents. It’s not much, I’ll admit that, but hey, that’s more than I could’ve imagined when I wrote my goals article!

My next goal was to make friends on Triond. I haven’t really made friends on Triond yet. But there are a few people whose articles I do enjoy reading! Maybe next month I’ll make a few friends here or there.

The third goal I had was to write non- beauty articles. I sort of achieved that, I wrote a few movie and book reviews, which I will link below at the end of the article, as well as a Valentine’s Day gift guide for both males and females. I think I’ll stick with beauty, not going to lie, but I’m trying to branch out.

My final goal was to write more. I did it! For a few days this month, I was obsessed with writing, and then it sort of subsided. I think, for now, I’m going to accept the fact that I can only write articles when I’m in the mood to do so, not because I have to. I know that’ll have to change one day, but for now, I think I’m content with that.

Overall, I’m pretty sure I achieved most of my goals, with the exception of making friends here on Triond. I think after this article, I’m going to write a March Goals article, so look out for that!

This is February month, what do you think about this month. for people in west February is very special month. In west tradition February is identical with love and affection.

This month there is a very special date as the lovers of the 14Th of February. Commemorated on that date on Valentine’s Day or commonly called the day of love. Western men usually give flowers or chocolates to their partner. They celebrate Valentine’s Day with great joy of love and of course lots of chocolates.

But this tradition is not so popular for east people. Eastern people are not look too special this month.
However that difference should be a unity that can enrich the world culture.
Thank before.

Events in history that occured on this day.

This day in 1878, in New Haven, Connecticut, the very first telephone book was issued. The company behind it’s production was the New Haven District Telephone Company. It wasn’t until 1886 that the Yellow Pages Directory would be created by Reuben H. Donnelley. QUICK WIKI FACT: In Sri Lanka, the Yellow Pages are know as the “Rainbow Pages”. In Japan, they are known as the “Town Page,” and in Israel as well as many European countries (Belgium, Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Netherlands) the book is known as the “Golden Pages.”

This day in 1948, The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing was Incorporated. This large company oversees the Sprint Cup Series, The Camping World Truck Series, and The Nationwide Series. After the prohibition of alcohol in 1933, between “speak-easies” and moonshine, alcohol never really became obsolete, and the police had their hands full. Bootlegger (makers of moonshine) would modify their vehicles to evade the cops. They would later race each other for entertainment and profit creating auto racing.

This day in 1972, after 37 of them, Richard Nixon was the first President to travel to the People’s Republic of China. Nixon met with Mao Zedong, the China’s leader, to discuss more peaceful grounds between the United State and China.

This day in 1995, Steve Fossett became the first person to travel across the Pacific Ocean in a hot air balloon alone. He and his balloon Spirit of Freedom flew from South Korea to Saskatchewan, Canada. Seven years later he would become the first person to make a single flight around the world by himself. He had set 116 world records, some of which still stand today.

Happy Presidents Day America!

This article talks about the holidays going on tomorrow, february tenth.

A wise man once told me that there is a holiday for every day of the year. Just kidding, it was just one of my teachers, but still, she was right. There is holiday for every day of the year, and there are two of them tomorrow february tenth alone. I thought this was great. It would be a funny excuse to not do something, and I could celebrate some of the holidays and get some laughs at the ridiculous things I would do on days that no one else knew about. I am not making up these two holidays, in fact I never intend to make up a holiday but I am just telling you about these two. I don’t know if they are even celebrated at all, but here they are: Umbrella Day and School Day. Now you might think that I am going to tell you what these holidays really are, and how to celebrate them, but honestly I have no idea about either of them, I just read that they were being celebrated tomorrow. So there you go. Do with that info as you please and have a good day.
