The song is “Feeling Good”, performed by Michael Bubles. The location is the Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The stars are the resident. This is definitely where we want to retire!

This video hit the web on July 12.2011. It features the residents of the Clark Retirement Community doing a swank cover of “Feeling Good.” The video was created by Grand Valley University Film & Video Production students, alumni and professors. It is purportedly the world’s first-ever senior citizen (not actors) lip dub of this scale.

Though this video has been posted for almost four days, Youtube watchers expect it “will go viral soon.”
Enjoy

The power is in your mind.

Feeling trampled?

Feeling down … so low that you think you can’t get any lower?

I’ve been there, and the interesting fact is that when I was there I wanted to get higher and higher …

Today I want to tell you, oh no … to remember you … that …

You’re stronger than you ever imagined

You have more energy than you realize … You can win more beautiful women than you have ever dreamed of and you can be successful in whatever way you propose to yourself when you accept that you’re already STRONG.

Maybe writer Maryanne Williamson said it best … These words were also used by Nelson Mandela when he was named president of South Africa in 1994 …

“Our biggest fear is that there is something wrong with us.
Our greatest fear is that we are much stronger than we ever imagined.

Our light most frightens us, not our darkness.”

Often we ask ourselves ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and famous?’ Actually, who are you to not be so? Your’re just part of the Divinty. If you underestimate yourself and you spend your life at a low level, you’re not the world or the others or yourself any good in any way.

There is nothing inspiring in lowering ourselves for the people around us not to feel somewhat insecure around us.

We were born to manifest the divine power which is already in us. It resides not in a part of us, it’s in all of us.

And when we let our light shine, we unconsciously allow other people to do the same.

As we free ourselves from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Just when you think you’ve arrived at the end of your powers, patience, results, life …

Know that you can get up and can go higher than you’ve ever gone

Let yourself be inspired and act now!

Shine!

I don’t know all of the answers to life’s woes, but I know how to listen and I try to learn something every day. Listening and learning, and then teaching if you can, are things that can help lead us to a higher place. All of our lives we should be striving to reach the highest place we can.

My thoughts that I share here and in other places are the result of many minutes and hours and days of thinking and evaluating. I am not imbued with any kind of internal wisdom, I am simply an ordinary person who cares. If I can help others with my caring, I am fulfilling my purpose and achieving some level of ascendency. That is how I wish to live my life. Helping, striving, rising higher and higher toward my ultimate position.

Some of my thoughts that you may take on if they seem to suit how you want to live your life – we all have our own life to live. My ideas may fit with your way, they may not, we all have our own way.

I believe that if we want to take ascendancy over other things, such as the animals, the plants, the earth, we have an attendant responsibility to those things.

Life happens and it’s our actions and thoughts that make it good or bad. Our own actions – no god required.

Doing good for others is its own reward. They feel good, you feel good, others who know about it feel good.

If you smile for a minute, you will feel happy for that minute and longer. Even a smile that is only caused by your conscious decision to smile can have this effect. So why not smile? You’ll feel happier for it!

If these thoughts seem to you to be good, please, share them with others. This is our world, and it is our role to live our life on this world in the best way we can!

So you need to increase your self esteem and you need to do it now. You feel that you have so much more potential and you want to make it show and shine. Learn the keys to unlocking the potential and increasing your self esteem today.

The things I am about to tell you in this article, you likely have heard before, but if you are having issues with self-esteem, you need something greater than knowledge to “fix” your problem.

This lack of self esteem really does plague modern society, it’s easy to feel inferior when we have a culture that is rather artificial. Let’s face it, you may want to look like the models in Cosmopolitan but, so do these models! They don’t actually look the way they appear on the cover of the magazine, they are airbrushed so that they appear the flawless perfection that you see.

I say all of this to make the point that we have a culture that thrives upon making “ordinary” people look inferior, and feel inferior to those who use the product that’s being sold!

I want to talk a little bit about self-esteem in this piece. I will get to the list in a minute …

Now, I just want to say that I will not be telling anyone how to have a “high” self esteem, but rather a healthy and balanced self esteem. You see, with a high self esteem, you may be blinded by your own confidence, but with healthy self esteem you have an accurate concept of yourself that reflects reality! The benefit of this is that you will have self-acceptance and self-respect and you will not define yourself by any failures you have encountered in your life along the way.

It’s not all your fault if you have low self esteem! Generally people with healthy self esteem have been respected and given a lot of hope by parents and have had a good start in life. None of us have any control over this! Perhaps you were bullied, perhaps you never had much support from your parents in your youth – and none of these things are your fault, but to be frank with you – any response that you have to this is your responsibility, and as a therapist and a coach, this is the main area in which I would help you.

If all of this weren’t already bad enough, because you were trained to think in a low way about yourself, you began to be critical of yourself! We become quite literally our own biggest critic, and to an extent, our own worst enemy! My work is to help you to become friends with yourself, and to be your own cheerleader, and to be your own supporter!

Some people with low self esteem are great actors, they can act happy on the outside, but on the inside they feel inadequate – their life is an act! Others try to mask their low self esteem by being the “angry young man” type who makes others feel bad in an attempt to make himself/herself feel good! Of course this behavior does not work! And there, of course, are the others who use their low self esteem as an excuse to be “sad sacks”!

As a coach and therapist, it is my job to take a person from the place where they feel inadequate, low and bad – and any manifestations of that – to a place where they have healthy self esteem!

So, my work is to help others deal with their inner critic, to help them to cease their self defeating acts like the “angry young man”, or the “actor” or the “sad sack”!

6 Ways to Raise your Self-Esteem

Say nice things to yourself

Stop criticizing yourself all the time! Lighten up! Say nice things to yourself for a change!

Be Your own Counselor and Coach

You can motivate yourself, you can make yourself happy, and you can induce healthy and happy emotional states in yourself!

If you have deep issues, consult a Professional Counselor

Getting professional help can really change your life for the better! If you need it, then it’s worth the investment.

Clarify your goals and aims

There’s nothing like having a clear purpose and goals to make a positive change in your life! Try this: write a personal mission statement, meditate on it every day for a month, and then see how you feel!

Do what you enjoy!

Make a list of the things you enjoy doing in life and make sure you do at least one of them per day

Do something very new today!

Do something you’ve never done before, and as you see yourself accomplishing that task, you will see your confidence and self-esteem rise like never before!

It is my professional opinion that if you feel that you have any of the deeper issues (like depression, or any other mental illness) and it affects your life and your feeling of wellbeing, you should seriously consider contacting a therapist to talk about your issues!

Don't let stress affect your workout. Let your workout affect your stress.

Of all the billions and billions of people in the world, it’s crazy that no two people are exactly the same, right? Well it’s true. People are different in more ways than one, and one of those ways is the affect that stress has on us. Where some people retract into an isolated cocoon, some actually someone around for entertainment. Some shut down and can’t function, while some actually need it to thrive and work at their best potential. And where some nearly forget to eat, some eat non -stop to fight the nerves. Get where I’m going with this yet? I know you do! This week I want to attack the “attack of stress eating”.

To be exact, neither affect of stress on eating is good for you. Without some food, your body can’t function at 100%. With too much food, well we all know where that can lead. My advise is to try and recognize the reason you are reaching for that Snickers bar. If you are hungry, then yeah . . . don’t wait. But if you’re not, then wait, please. Stress can play all sorts of tricks on us, including making us think that we need to eat to feel better. Trust me, you will still be stressed after that Snickers bar. Maybe even more now because you have to stress about how you are going to get that extra weight off. One thing that I’ve been trying to do is exercise when I get too stressed, and guys . . . This actually does work. I feel GOOD when I’m done and that time allows me to think of possible solutions for my problem. Double win!! SO this week we’re going to try and not let stress control our bodies anymore than it already does. Good luck, everyone!

Celebrate your high points to help get you through the low points.

It had always been very easy for me to lose any weight that I had put on. That was until I decided to have my daughter. Something about that baby fat just stuck with me for the longest time. After my daughter’s first birthday this summer I took a really long look in the mirror and decided that 1 year was long enough (too long!!) for me to be carrying around this dead weight. So I set out on all types of missions to get rid of the flab. Through a lot of trial and error (some of which I’ve already shared with you all and much more to come) I’ve found a few things that always work, some things that work for some, and a truck load of pure lies that work for no one.

One thing that has kept me on the road to success (11 pounds and counting people!!) is being able to see results and the feeling that I get from that. It was hard those first few weeks when the scale didn’t move and my clothes still hugged every roll, but I stuck in there and when I did see that scale tip just a little to the left something inside of me changed. At that point I wanted nothing more than MORE. I worked harder, and ate better all because I knew that it was worth it. I felt that it was worth it and I knew that I could do it. Now for every five pounds I lose I buy myself something that I really want but wouldn’t normally get for whatever reason. Why? Simply because I’ve earned it. All my hard work pays off in more ways than one . . . And that, my friends, is what keeps me going. Don’t be afraid to celebrate your progress. Trust me when I say, it takes more than an alarm clock to get me up and moving some days. Enjoy yourself and celebrate yourself, because you deserve it! Until next week, take care.
