Communist Dictators:

Normally hereditary Communist Dictators are few and far between. The exception being Fidel Castro’s brother who took over when the Cuban head of state fell sick. The most notable exception is happening in Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea with a second generation Kim Jong Un taking over reins from Kim Jong Il, after the first generation replacement 17-years ago. Hereditary leaders coming to power in a communist regime with fancy labels of General etc., can happen only in countries like North Korea. Kings and such dictators hail basically from a Royal lineage unlike dictators from a military regime like Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddaffi etc. Ever since the formation of North Korea and South Korea due to a UN-intervention in the late forties, the two have fought  the North-South War during 1950-53 and continued to be the worst of enemies. South Korea with it’s capitalistic ideology has reached out to  a large number of countries like USA, UK, India and several European nations with it’s successful Business Ventures, Electronics and Automobile industries. North Korea, on the other hand has grown as a purportedly big Military Power with it’s Russian and Chinese links and a hostile Nuclear Programme, propagating missile strikes.

Kim Dynasty:

The founder-Kim Sung Il had alienated DPR-North Korea from other countries through his Iron Curtain close circuit totalitarian communist regime. Opposition was not tolerated. Neighbours like South Korea and Japan were viewed with suspicion. It is sad how political ideologies divide a nation having the same language and cultures. We have seen it happen in West Germany and East Germany, North Vietnam and South Vietnam. Sports played a crucial role in uniting both Koreas during the last Olympics, but only on the sports arena. The present dynastic successor, Kim Jong Un is under thirty and is reported to be a Playboy type and did not pass any exams while undergoing study in Switzerland. Good at Maths though, he better cultivate Big Brothers from China and Russia as there is a probable threat of a coup from the North Korean Military bosses.

Conclusion:

The world will be a better place if split nations like North and South Korea overcome their schizophrenic political ideologies and join together like Germany, for world peace. Despite the irritant of North Korea supplying uranium and assisting in the Pakistani Missile programme, India has extended it’s Food Aid to North Korea. Kim Jong Il, the departed leader was a Cartoonist’s Delight–short, puffed up hair style, oversize spectatcles, strutting around with elevator shoes, perpetually eating lobsters and downing cognac! Now it is the dawning of Kim-III in the dynastic chain. Wonder how Karl Marx, Lenin and Mao Zedong all missed the hereditary communist line while theorising about communism, no?

After his recent trip to Cuba, controversial Ukrainian President Yanukovych gave a press conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in which he described his visit with the aging former dictator Fidel Castro.  According to the Interfax news agency, Yanukovych said Castro is “full of life” and “young in spirit.”

However young Castro is in spirit, his appearance gave Yanukovych pause. The Interfax reporter wrote: 

Yanukovych also said Castro had interpreted way [sic] the Ukrainian president was looking at him as surprise at the Cuban leader’s having aged so much. However, Castro said he was not going to make any changes to his appearance, according to Yanukovych.

Yanuokvych did not make any remarks about changes that Fidel Castro might need to make to his appearance before he appears in public again.

Yanukovych’s official website reports that he stayed at the Tarara Resort, a gated community in Havana.  The official press office account of the trip does not mention Fidel Castro.  The website quotes Yanukovych as saying “We were expecting to meet like-minded people, who traditionally maintain very good business and friendly relations with the Ukrainian people, and we did.”  Thus, Yanukovych claims his junket to Cuba was a business trip.

Fidel Castro has not been seen in public since his April appearance at the Cuban Communist Party Congress.  At that event, Castro walked with support from a burly aide and appeared to gasp for breath.  In the last year Castro, former marathon speaker and windbag, has decreased the frequency of the publication of his topical essays, which he calls “Reflexiones.”  His pieces now consist of his comments on extensive and frequent quotations from current world leaders.   Sometimes Castro’s own words are as little as 20 percent of an essay.  Notwithstanding, Yanukovych stated Castro is “a man filled with deep thoughts about what is happening in the world.”

Senator Marco Rubio acknowledges he “getting a few dates wrong” about when they left the Caribbean island.

But the 40-year-old says any suggestion he had spun his background story for political advantage was “outrageous”.

He maintains communism in Cuba was a defining event in his parents’ lives.

The Washington Post reported on Friday, after examining official records and naturalisation documents, that Mr Rubio’s parents had obtained US residence more than two years before Castro took power in 1959.

An entry on his official Senate website saying he is the son of “Cuban born parents who came to America following Fidel Castro’s takeover” has now been amended.

The Tea Party favourite has also said in the past that his parents left Cuba before its revolution.

The first-term senator conceded on Friday that his parents had not come to the US after Castro took power.

Miami-born Mr Rubio wrote in a column for Politico.com: “If The Washington Post wants to criticize me for getting a few dates wrong, I accept that.”

But he added that the report had made “outrageous allegations”.

“To call into question the central and defining event of my parents’ young lives – the fact that a brutal communist dictator took control of their homeland and they were never able to return – is something I will not tolerate,” he wrote.

In his article, Mr Rubio said the discrepancy in dates would not tarnish his appeal with voters.

“They voted for me because, as the son of immigrants, I know how special America really is.”
