How many of us are going to be alive by then? Unless someone comes up with some type of potion/medecine that will keep us young and/or dead-free, None of us today will live for that.

The Mayans also said that on January 31, 2012 , There will be some kind of natural disaster (not too big) that will hit somewhere in the caribbean. Will it happen?, I guess we will just wait and see.

Mayan calendar also states that if you don’t believe in anything they say, you will go first, and not the fat people!

An unbiased report of events and predictions for 2012 that will astound and confound you, just as they have the experts.

Image via Wikipedia

Not only does the Mayan calendar end on December 21, 2012, but also there are many other things that are scheduled to occur on or before that date. Plus the scholars, spiritualist and scientist have speculated that there may be other events and effects that may happen.

Given the vast difference of opinion this article will describe them and give an unbiased, view of the facts and prophecies. Some of the phenomena that will occur in the near future are reportedly going to change the world. Some say the changes will be for the good of mankind while others are predicting catastrophe.

Though we’ll discuss them one at a time the event slated to happen are as follows:

An intense period of solar flares.

The poles of the sun will change as they do every 11 years.

Jupiter and Saturn will be aligned.

The earth will be at the center of the Milky Way.

Many of the scientists believe that not only will the polarities of the sun change, but because of the alignment of the south pole of the sun and the north pole of the earth, the earth’s polarities will also change.

This according to scientists would cause many natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions among other catastrophes. Some even believe the earth will completely change its axis and the equator will be the north and south poles while the north and south poles will be the equator. Of course these events would spell the end of all life on the planet.

Because of the massive gravitational pull created by our solar system’s two largest planets may cause the earth’s wobble to increase. Again this would cause many catastrophes and annihilate all life on the planet, too.

Spiritualists believe that the events that will happen will merely be a transition from one plain of existence to another. In other words those that are ready to evolve to a more elevated place will go on to the next level. In this new world there will be peace and tranquility. Paradigms will completely change from the way they are now in that the things that we find important will no longer matter.

They view the Mayan calendar’s end, as being the beginning of a new era and that there will not be any catastrophe. The spiritualists also see the events such as the earth being in the middle of the Milky Way as just a sign of prosperity and a gateway to the new world, the better world to come.

It is certain that no one really knows what is going to happen other than the events that are preordained. Whether we are destroyed or transcended is not going to be apparent until it actually comes to be. The one thing that is for certain is that we are powerless to change the coming events. All that we can really do is wait and accept what comes our way.

This is the 2nd article in the 2012 series of articles. It is significant in both your understanding of what the debate is all about and why the scholars are taking it so seriously. The Mayans were unbelievably advanced in many areas and their calendar is just further proof of this fact.

In this article I’m going to familiarize you with the Mayan calendar. This is information you will need to fully understand why the scholars of today are taking the prophecy seriously. The Mayans were chiefly concerned with the movement of venus, the moon and the earth orbit around the sun.

Their calendar actually consists of three calendars, the religious calendar (moon), the solar calendar (earth) and the long count calendar (Venus). The Mayans did not originate this calendar, but rather took its basis from other calendars of the Mesoamerican civilizations that preceded them. Most notably they were the Aztec and the Toltec societies.

They did make refinements to the calendar and it is because of these that they developed an instrument of great predicting qualities. They used the calendar to foresee when important events would take place in the future.

The basic unit is the kin (day), which is the last component of the Long Count.

uinal

(1 uinal = 20 kin = 20 days)

tun

(1 tun = 18 uinal = 360 days = approx. 1 year)

katun

(1 katun = 20 tun = 7,200 days = approx. 20 years)

baktun

(1 baktun = 20 katun = 144,000 days = approx. 394 years)

The kin, tun, and katun are numbered from 0 to 19.

The uinal are numbered from 0 to 17.

The baktun are numbered from 1 to 13.

As you can see the basic numbering system is a base 20 meaning there are 20 characters in their system instead of 10 as in the system we use. Grasping their use of the long calendar is essential for your understanding of the abilities of the Mayans to predict future events.

Each day is represent by a five-digit number separated by dots. Thus the date representing the creation of the world is shown as 13.0.0.0.0 and has relevance to the subject of discussion. Contrary to our belief as the origin of time should be represented as 0.0.0.0.0 the first digit is 13 because they used a 13-day numbered week and a 20-day named week so the 13 just represents which calendar.

The names of this 20-day week are as follows:

0. Ahau

1. Imix

8. Lamat

9. Maluc

10. Oc

11. Chuen

12. Eb

13. Ben

14. Ix

15. Men

16. Cib

17. Caban

18. Etznab

19. Caunac

The names of the months for the 20-day calendar are:

1. Pop

2. Uo

3. Zip

4. Zotz

5. Tzec

6. Xul

7. Yaxkin

8. Mol

9. Chen

10. Yax

11. Zac

12. Ceh

13. Mac

14. Kankin

15. Muan

16. Pax

17. Kayab

18. Cumku

Thus you have 18 month of 20 days each for a total of 360 days, but the Mayans new the period of time for the earth to travel around the sun was 365+ days so to account for the extra days they had another period of time known as Uayeb that was 5.242036 days long.

What all this boils down to is that the Mayans were very observant, but even more importantly they were curious about the beginning and the end of days for the current era. The end date or the day the Mayan calendar resets to zero is December 21, 2012. Now this is not to say that they were predicting anything at all this is just how the mathematical progression works for the calendar. Of course it does not mean they weren’t.

In the next article we’ll go into things that are going to happen in the year 2012 leading up to 12/21/12.

This is the first in a series of articles to discuss the 2012 phenomenon that is on many peoples mind and the reason for many discussion by today's scholars. Since the scope of this subject is so large I will not attempt to cover it in one article as I could never do it justice. This first article is an introduction and merely a place to begin.

Image via Wikipedia

Will the date of December 21, 2012 be the end of the earth or will it just be another winter solstice? This is the great enigma that has scholars both scratching their heads and engaged in intense debates. The scope of the subject is staggering and way too much to be contained in one simple article. Therefore, in a series of articles, I will break down the subject in to many different sub subjects.

This being the first article we will take an overall look at the subject, and then go into specifics in future articles. I have read and studied many writings on the subject and some were so abstract or filled with jargon that I feel the average person would never be able to comprehend. To that end I will endeavor to simplify the message and put it into layman’s language.

First my understanding is the subject started with the started with the ending of Mayan calendar. The Mayans were quite accomplished in many areas including their calendar, astrology, mathematicians and builders. They were also incredible observers and keepers of ancient and sacred knowledge. What this all boils down to is that their predictions and calculations can and should be taken seriously.

These ancient Mayans had many abilities and knowledge from the ancients coming from sources that have been lost to modern man. What makes the extremely special is that they were very adept at linking together their knowledge of mathematics, astronomy and prophecy to exact their predictions.

Through their observances the Mayans realized that nothing ever happens by chance, but that there are recurring cycles of different time periods. These cycles are not only constant, they correspond to past and future cosmic and world events. For this study we will focus on their ability to predict future events from these observed cycles.

Could the Mayans see some of the things that people studying this phenomenon today believe to come to pass during 2012? Some of the scientific facts and speculations for 2012 are as follows:

The Sun will go through what is called a solar cycle, which occurs every 11 years

The two biggest planets in our solar system Saturn and Jupiter will align

Gravitational pull from Saturn and Jupiter may cause the sun to wobble

Conditions may exist that will cause a pole shift on the earth

Our Sun will line up with the center of the Milky Way

I believe the Mayans knew that these things were going to occur, but I don’t believe they were predicting the end of the earth. I rather think the Mayans thought that all of this would bring about a new era.

So search inside yourself if you are curious and decide for yourself what you believe. If you don’t care or believe nothing will happen then put it completely out of your head. I know what I believe to be, but I won’t know if I’m right or wrong until Dec. 21, 2012. Join me next time as we discuss the Mayan calendar and how it helped them to predict the future.

End of The World. True, False, or Possibility?

December 21st, 2012. This is the date that has us, human beings on earth, quivering and wondering, is the world really going to end? From what I have heard, there have been rumors going around that the Mayan calendar ends on December 21st, 2012 and therefore, the world ends. When I heard that it made me laugh at how superstitious people get. It wasn’t until a few days later that I started doing some research on the subject. What I found out is that around that time there will be devastating events that may or may not take place.

An event that made me feel uneasy was that on the same day, astronomers believe that our solar system is going to cross with the Galactic Equator, , which only happens every 26,000 years. What scientists’ believe is that closer we get to the Galactic Equator, the more earthquakes we will have because the closer Earth is to the Galactic Equator the more mass until eventually they meet up which causes maximum mass, in other words, maximum gravity.

There is also talk about Planet X. They say that it orbits our sun every 3600 years and it should be passing Jupiter’s orbit by the end of 2012. This could ignite the big ball of gas and Jupiter could become a mini-sun. If this does happen it will disrupt our solar system and most likely cause severe changes in weather patterns.

There are many more things to happen around December 21st 2012 but, I have decided to keep this article short and sweet. As for the end of the world, it is a possibility it may happen but us humans are advanced creatures that would be able to overcome this dilemma if it was true. And as for me, I will live my life to the fullest because who knows if tomorrow will be your last day.

About the 21st century idea of men within makeup. Is it allowed? Are men giving up on masculinity?

Make-up in the 21st Century is becoming more and more popular, as well as the age of the people who are using it is getting younger and younger.

You all see the adverts (as well as films) when the little girls invade their mother’s ‘draws of beauty’ and find themselves trying on next to everything, not to realise or aid in improvement of appearance, but for own personal enjoyment. Now when boys do the same thing at that age, for some parents, worry can settle in. Bless those parents.

I’ve never understood the idea that boys playing with GI-Joe Action Men makes them straight, I’d rather they played with Barbie & Cindy dolls; involving fondling… Confusion has definitely settled in.

Regardless, what would you do if your little boy was wearing make-up? For the attention? For the improvement of appearance (or what they may think improves their appearance but you highly disagree).

I feel the 21st Century has brought on much pressure upon men to keep up with the idea of being beautiful, clean and somewhat flawless (with a masculine edge). I mean, the women of today, the diets, the surgeries, the haircuts; perhaps the men are feeling left out… or even left behind?

The gender lines are now blurred and the population and society is finding difficulty to regain control. Everything has being thrown up in the air and slamming them down just to put them into chronological order, to me personally, is an invasion on human evolution.

Boys in Makeup? Evolution? Yes it sounds proposterous. But without flare, without happiness, without comfortability and the idea of sharing and creation, isn’t that in itself evolution?
It’s most definitely a diplomatic subject.
