According to the USFDA it is said the 1 cup of orange juice is allowed contains 10 fruit flies and 2 maggots.

At first this is very hard to believe, but the FDA set some guidelines that allows some foreign bodies to be safe for consumption, such as rodent hairs, maggots, lava’s, eggs, certain types of bugs.

According to researches, they have estimated that humans digest about one pound of insects per year. Leaving me to wonder if the digesting of 8 spiders per month while we sleep is counted in that one pound?

Scotland was under the British rule for many years in the 13th century.Robert Bruce,a powerful Scotland Lord tried his best to free his motherland from the English.Though he made six continous efforts he failed in all his attempts. At last Bruce had to run away from the battle field. He was completely tired and depressed of the failures, one after another. He was taking rest in a cave near the village,As he was i his hideout he had an inspiring experience and it changed his life totally.

On the top of the cave he found a spider weaving its net.Bruce was closely watching the efforts made by the little creature in reaching the target. He noticed that though the spider tried many times it had failed many times. As the spider was to make about make the next attempt Bruce told himself,’If the spider reaches the target i will also try again to free my country from the English”.For his great excitement the spider succeeded in its mission this time.

It was really an encouragement and inspiration for Bruce. He decided to gather round the scattered forces to make another attempt against the rivals. The result was amazing. He emerged victorious in the Battle and ruled over Scotland for many years.

A paper on what defines a civilized society.

Oscar Wilde once said: “Society exists only as a mental concept; in the real world there are only individuals.” In lord of the flies democracy and a civilized society exist because of: Ralph, Piggy, and Simon. Civilization on the island is represented by the Conch and the signal fire. At the very beginning when Ralph first blew the conch, democracy was first established. As the boys gathered around the conch, the conch became a symbol of power and order. As the election took place the kids took into consideration the fact that Ralph had the conch. As long as there were people who still followed democracy the conch stayed intact; until Ralph was the only boy left that still believed in a civilized society. After the election the rules that were created made the conch a symbol of power like the mace in parliament. Furthermore, the signal fire is the connection between the boys on the island and the world that was out there. When the signal fire was going strong and held in high regard, democracy was overpowering savagery but when the thought of being rescued was far from priority order on the island fell apart and savagery dominated. Another major symbol is the beast that some of the boys believed haunted the island. From the very beginning the beast represented savagery. It frightened all the boys and they all wanted it dead. They had no resources, no help or aid and they are worried that a beast might kill them of course that triggered the killing behavior in the boys. At the very beginning there was a sense that the beast was fake but as it grew into a realization for the boys the democratic body faded and savagery was the new government body on the island. Also, piggy’s glasses were also a symbol of democracy. The glasses represented power of technology. The glasses all they had if not it they would have all been dead. As long as they were in the right hands democracy still had a bit of power, it kept the signal fire going. When the democratic side was robbed of its power (ability to make a fire) they were left powerless. In fact referring to the quote at the beginning two major symbols are piggy and Simon. Piggy represents the intelligence on the island while Simon the goodness on the island. Without these two characters democracy would have fallen long before it did. Democracy was very stable until slowly each one of these symbols were destroyed or emphasized.

Anarchy is caused only by discontent.

The natural instincts of human beings result in chaotic expression of dissatisfaction. According to Hegel’s theory of philosophical progress, the inferior notion will quarrel with the popularly accepted idea until a new thought provoking philosophy grips the minds of it audience to leave behind the chains of mediocrity. The all-consuming, fiery wrath of mankind will ultimately lead to the annihilation of administrative structures, if aversion instigates the fury of humanity.

Scarce exceptions that bend the innate law of humanity to exhale anger because of unhappiness seem to reveal weak flaws. A possibility that a new type of organization will sprout out from the seeds of discontent lacks enough strength to bolster the claim. However, the American Revolution represents an ideal example of the creation of an original method of governing due to the furious colonists pressured under the weight of Britain. The establishment of a colonial government allowed for the liberties of the colonist to unravel to a higher standard due to the effects of Britain’s salutary neglect. Shortly after the French and Indian War, the British laid a harsh regime on the colonist leading to the upheaval of the British in North America. Their independence provoked radical change to the global archetype of a ruling system bad on hierarchy. Roger Sherman formed a bicameral legislative system based on population and equal vote which allowed unbiased representation of all people. The ratification of the United States constitution ultimately led to the first contemporary democracy. Nevertheless, the establishment of the United States democracy would have never occurred if not for civil disobedience led by malicious thoughts of discontent. For example, at the Boston tea party, the colonist, in response to the Tea Act, overthrew the tea stored in the merchants’ ships at the port. Likewise, a common opposition to the fact that malcontent leads to chaos in government claims, anarchy does not always come from discontent rather the negative repercussions of meaningless actions. Consider the leadership of Reverend Parris, in Arthur Miller’s play, The Crucible, his authority was not undermined by the citizens but by the actions of the young women to pretend the role of a messenger of God. In spite of the conduct of the young women, the colonists were the ones who arouse the mistrust of Reverend Parris due to the limitations of the conditions. Take note of Thomas Putnam who utilized the witch trials to gain the land of others because of his resentment toward Parris which was fueled by his inability to achieve the office of reverend.

As a result of events in society and history, the theory that antipathy breeds anarchy maintains its strength against any challenging proposal. Observe Jack, the leader of the hunters in William Golding’s novel, Lord of the Flies. In response to the lowly standard of living and dissatisfied with Ralph’s leadership Jack forms his own tribe. The formation of Jack’s tribe cripples the authoritative force Ralph tried to maintain. The change in power led to the death of Piggy and the persecution of Ralph. Furthermore, many other genres of literature suggest a common theme of an unappeased protagonist against an assertive figure or entity. Take note of William Shakespeare’s play, Julius Caesar, Brutus and several senators stabbed Caesar as a result of his sudden increase of power and fame among the people. The assassination set in motion the downfall of Brutus as well as the Roman Republic. Assuredly, history provides a firm assertion that a lack of government roots itself in the in the inability of humans to reach a state of satisfaction. The Reign of Terror during the French Revolution brought about chaos and anarchy because of the discontent of the Third Estate, The Third Estate, the lower class of France, enraged by the inability of King Louis XVI to aid its people overthrew the monarchy. Maimilen Robespierre remained a dominant force in the Committee of General Security after the execution of the King. He aggressively believed that the Terror was “a time of discovering enemies within France hidden by acts of patriotism,” (Halsall). His words led to the killing of many innocent people by the guillotine.

Getting over the fear of spiders and snakes.

I used to fear the spider until my aunt had me touch it through force. Although I did not appreciate the gesture and still dislike the creepiness of this arthropod, I can appreciate its elimination of some of the small flies that get in through the window screen during the spring and summer. So I am more apt to let a few build their safe haven in an isolated corner of the house where a web can snare their flying prey. In a small way, they are nature’s answer to noxious insect repellents.

The same can be said for some snakes like the gopher which mimics the behavior of the rattlesnake and yet is non venomous. These are quite useful in eliminating unwanted rodents that destroy crops and carry diseases and so is an important part of the food chain. It can be distinguished from its poisonous cousin by the brown square markings it has on its back and the fact that it has no rattle on its tail. It may shake its tail like its cousin and also curl up in defense mode but on closer examination one can see that it had no true rattle as its tail is pointed and its head is not as triangular when it is at rest.

Getting over fear of wild creatures, which are repulsive or wrongly associated with danger, I think is essential in understanding how we can co-exist with them. We would avoid killing them every time we see them crawl or slither away, after all they are doing their part in keep other pests in check and provide food for other animals further up the food chain.

This is a guide to catching those annoying, pesky house flies with just your bare hand, enabling you to kill it or release it away from where it was bothering you. Just don't forget to wash your hands after.

First, I will explain a little about flies and their reaction when startled. As you know, they fly away if you try and hit them. Their first reaction is to fly up and backwards away from whatever danger they sensed. With this in hand, let me explain how to catch the annoying flies.

Wait for the fly to land. (It would be too hard to catch it out of the air).

Put your hand 4-6 inches above the fly very carefully without startling it.

Swipe your hand, at the same 4-6 inch level that you were holding it at, slightly behind the fly, in an attempt to catch it. The fly will get scared and fly up and backwards into your hand and you will have caught the fly.

What to do after you caught the fly?

Well, you probably want to either let it go or kill the fly. The best way to do either of these is to first shake the hand which is holding the fly, as if you were shaking a can of pop to make it explode. This doesn’t harm the fly, but it gives it a good headache to confuse it and slow it down. Then you can either let it go outside or whip it to the ground and squash it with whatever you like.

Living life affirms that time truly flies fast. Decisions in life become more critical day after day.

A song starts its chorus with “…and time goes by so slowly…”

Would you agree? I don’t. As I live my day-to-day life, I came to affirm the saying that time flies. Twenty years ago, I was still a baby sucking on my mother’s nipples for milk, or perhaps, I was given a milk of bottle and a set of toys to play with. Twenty years after, here I am, starting to experience the real-life setting as I start working as intern in Microsoft Philippines.

It came to a realization that what I have been thinking years back is now a reality. There’s no turning back time. There’s no room for joking and bumming around too much, because soon enough after graduation on October 4, I have to start earning money for my own needs and wants.

It was just like yesterday when we decided to extend our thesis-making to the following term, and here we are, almost 2-3 weeks left before the final submission. It was just like yesterday when I started my internship in MS, and here I am, celebrating more than a month’s time of work at the office. It was just 12:27AM when I started this post. What time is it now? It’s 12:37AM.

Time flies… really. There are so many things to do yet we only have little time, that’s why we need to make right choices and decisions in life. Don’t waste time because we cannot really turn it back to what it was a minute, a second, or a millisecond ago.
