The world will never be the same if you see through the eyes of Forest Gump.

In the 1990s, the sentiment of the American society to deal with lower IQ was extremely high, and thus the Hollywood had introduced a movie of “Forest Gump”. This story is centered on a role player characterizing with IQ as low as 75 to indirectly reflect the real American’s life in all aspects. Additionally, this movie also highlighted a unique perspective of the political and social issues that Americans were facing over the decades. More importantly, the story brings the Americans back to deeply recall their past and the nature attributes of the Americans.

Mr. Gump was described as person riches in virtue, honesty, trustworthy, conscientious and courageous. He was born to sacrifice for others without expecting for the returns. He did not boggle what people thought of him, but he just faced his life calmly. He accumulated all his wisdom, conviction, and courage to pursue his life though he had been rejected cruelly by the society. He ignored other’s people perception on him; he had his legs run wherever he could. He ran through his classmates’ discrimination during his childhood; he ran through a university’s football field; he ran through the war in Vietnam; he ran through a diplomacy battlefield on a ping-pong table; he ran throughout the entire United States and finally he reached to the end of his life.

People may have a great sentiment after watching this touching movie. One may feel that the life is characterized as a feather in a sky, wrestling with the wind, or floating together with the wind, or may have been flying in the blue sky, or may have fallen into the dark hole.

I think Mr. Gump is a typical American as his growth process is as similar as what we are facing in life. He is a good man. He made people laugh whole-heartedly, and also made people cry.

In this movie, Mr. Gump has characteristics of simple minded, pure heart, but lack of personal views. In my opinion, this film is unique that it brings us back to the moral and social cultures dates back to 1960s in order to promote the mainstream ideology of the United States by denying the intrusion of new civilization. Perhaps based upon this attribute, this movie has rooted deeply in every American’s heart.

Even though Mr. Gump has a very low IQ, he has good attributes like sincerity, good-hearted, courageous, honesty and trustworthy that was lost in the era of the new American’s society. At the end of the movie, his sincerity indeed made us touching. We may start realizing that we have been cramped with too much individual pride, prejudice and vanity instead of the good virtue that Mr. Gump showed us in the movie.

The expressions in the movie have become some important philosophies for us to recall. I therefore quoted them from what I watched for your reference.

Life was like a box of chocolate, you never know what you’re gonna get

There is an awful lot you can tell about a person by their shoes. Where they’re going, and where they’ve been.

You are no different than anybody else is

Stupid is as stupid does

We were like peas and carrots

There must be something can be done

Miracles happen every day

Son-of-bitch

Sure as hell was

Aint I going to be me?

Nobody gives a horse shit who you are, puss ball

Get your maggoty ass on the bus

That is an outstanding answer I’ve ever heard

Just like that, she was gone

A little stinging rain, and big old fat rain

There ain’t something you can find just around the corner

The secret to this game is, no matter what happens, never, ever take your eye off the ball

Nothing just happens, it’s all part of a plan

I army’s value = loyalty, respectful, selfless, honor, integrity, personal courage, which can form into LDRSHIP= leadership

There is one small step for a man, a giant leap for mankind

A promise is a promise

I am a man of my word

Where the hell is this God of yours?

There is only so much of fortune a man really needs and the rest is just for showing off

You got to go when you got to go

Shit happens!

You have to put the past behind you before you can move on

It was just before the sun goes to bed down on the bay. There were a million sparkles on the river.

If there is anything you need I will not be far away

It’s my time. It’s just my time. Oh, now, don’t you be afraid sweetheart. Death is just a part of life, something were all destined to do. I didn’t know it. But I was destined to be your mom. I did the best I could.

Joy, beauty and richness are with you every step of the way.

Focus is important toward your path of happiness, success, and joy in life; however, if you have other interests that catch your attention, this too is okay and will add to the enjoyment and richness of your life. For example, many celebrities began with one form of art that led to their fame. Some started as singers and others as actors. Then as their career in that field took off, they decided to try other things like creating their own clothing lines, writing a book or even a movie. Always remember that there are no limits.

One of my favorite movies is “Forrest Gump”. I love it for it’s theme: a simple man who goes through his life, unchanged by his environment and material possessions who makes decisions based off his heart. If he likes a color, he likes a color, nothing more nothing less. He is not seeking happiness because his heart is already filled with joy and because of this, true friends, and true love are his rewards.

Like a child, he does not over analyze a situation. Instead, if he feels like doing something, he just does it. He begins to play table tennis by himself because he is looking for something to do while he is in the army. He plays so much that he becomes an expert at it. He decides to go for a run and just does it.

And, in the very beginning, almost everyone underestimates Forrest, because he’s so full of trust and innocence (=’s love), except a few key people: his mom, his bestfriend, and his future wife (as a child she knew) – because pure love ignites, transforms and heals the world.

In the end, Forrest was just a simple, honest, authentic person (and at some point in time, we’ve all felt like a “Forrest Gump”) filled with a childlike spirit who followed his heart and showed the world some of life’s greatest lessons:

Take action on something that interests you.

You will always become an expert in things you love and enjoy the most.

Share or do not be afraid to share it with others.

Trust your heart completely . . . and, every dream in your heart comes true for this one reason:

“Love . . . always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Life is full of open doors and opportunities that await us. We simply need to keep our minds fresh and clear of distractions so that we are focused on the moment and can confidently walk through all and any door that suits our attention and interests. We need to not place so much weight on whether we are doing it right according to someone else’s standards, but on whether we are doing it the way that feels most in sync and in tune with who we are as individuals. And, when we stay true to our hearts, we change the world by allowing others to feel safe enough to reveal and trust their hearts.

Learn from everything in your environment. Everyday is a new day to start anew, refresh and bring a greater depth of joy, richness and beauty to your life and the life of others.

“Each and every flower is unique and blossoming beautiful, precious and one of a kind. The world only becomes more beautiful when we encourage and embrace eachother’s innocent shine!” (-Js.)

Blessings to all.
