People use to believe that sneezing was a way to rid the body of evil spirits. The Gypsies thought theat sneezing was not so bad.

The Gypsy beliefs had a philosophy for a sneeze on any given day of the week.

Sneeze on Monday, You will escape danger.

Sneeze on Tuesday, A kiss from a stranger.

Sneeze on Wednesday, You will receive a good news letter.

Sneeze on Thursday, You will receive a gift that is better.

Sneeze on Friday, News will cause sorrow.

Sneeze on Saturday, You will travel tomorrow.

Sneeze on Sunday, Ask God to bless you.

Sneeze all week, Your health to keep.

Reference : The Good Spell Book

Scientifically we know that sneezing helps of to get rid of foreign objects like dust, and it is our bodies way of trying to rid itself of germs and irritants. But, there is nothing wrong with believing that sneezing can be a sign of something more.

Which one do you celebrate?

The day is marked by one final food frenzy, much of it revolving around carbohydrates such as pancakes and deep-fried delights such as doughnuts. Why? Some say the tradition dates back to a time when refrigeration was non-existent and all the goodies in the home had to be eaten because they wouldn’t survive Lent. (They would probably also be an unnecessary temptation.)

Fat Tuesday, Good Friday 2012, Mardi Gras 2012, Miercoles De Ceniza, Shrove Tuesday 2012 Fat Tuesday, Good Friday 2012, Mardi Gras 2012, Miercoles De Ceniza, Shrove Tuesday 2012 Fat Tuesday, Good Friday 2012, Mardi Gras 2012, Miercoles De Ceniza, Shrove Tuesday 2012 Fat Tuesday, Good Friday 2012, Mardi Gras 2012, Miercoles De Ceniza, Shrove Tuesday 2012 Fat Tuesday, Good Friday 2012, Mardi Gras 2012, Miercoles De Ceniza, Shrove Tuesday 2012 Fat Tuesday, Good Friday 2012, Mardi Gras 2012, Miercoles De Ceniza, Shrove Tuesday 2012

The food frenzy also offers a final opportunity to indulge in rich, fatty favorites before Ash Wednesday and Lent.

There are people that don’t do any thing like that.

When you read at another article that the honor of a controversy in many academic circles about the real divinity of the Vikings by the name “Friday“. The cold hard reality is that if someone with a runestone, which confirmed the problem undermines and this is very likely that only a preponderance of circumstantial evidence will prevail in that debate.

So while others while away from their viewing time of peace in the world, I went back for inspiration Friday.

If you remember, four of the seven days of the week named after Norse gods:
- Tuesday is Tyr, the god of truth and war,
- Wednesday is Odin, the father of the gods Vikings
- Thursday is for Thor, the god of thunder
- Friday, but hiding behind ambiguity.

I’ve always heard the name of day, came home, Frigg, Odin the greatest wife, who had more of the wisest of which is based on references in the English language, as the dictionary of Oxford. Others say it was for or Freja Frey, brother and sister were in the clan of the Vanir. Frey was the god of fertility, so it was much to make her happy, Freja was the goddess of love and beauty, so it does not hurt to keep on the right side, either.

Frigg functions were to be the goddess of the sky. It was a subtle work, but someone had to do.

With respect to cyberspace of the resolution, I found an excellent tutorial, the Lady Norse Viking response. She is so meticulous in her material to take the opportunity to shed light on the issue, she feels pretty good. So I contacted. To say that she has done her research is an understatement. She replied:

“Since all of Western Europe are derived originally from Indo-European tribes, we find that using a large number of connections between the various branches, not exactly a one to one identity, but the concepts are clear. It is no surprise that the name and symbolism of the day of the week, and the number of days a week, maybe about the same in all the descendants of the Indo-Europeans.

“You can see, the day coincides with the names in other languages from the Indo-European descent:

“Greek is: Selene Hemera (Day of the Moon), Hemera Areos (Martian days), Hermu Hemera (Day of Hermes), God Hemera (day Zeus), Aphrodite Hemera (the Day of Aphrodite), Khronu Hemera (Chronos day) , Heliou Hemera (sunny day)

“America: dies Lunae (the moon today, Monday), dies Martis (Mars-day, Tuesday), Mercurii dies (day of Mercury, Wednesday), dies Jovis (day of Jupiter, Thursday), dies Veneris (day of Venus” Friday), dies of Saturn (Saturn’s day, Saturday) and Christian Sabbatum Sabbati or dies (Saturday), dies Solis (Sunday) and Christian dies Dominicus (day of the Lord)

“Not surprisingly, the Romance languages derive their name from America on course, with the exception of the Portuguese, the number of days:

“In Italian: lunedì, martedì, Mercoledì, giovedì, venerdì, Sabato, domenica
“Spain: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Sunday
“French: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
“Romania: Luni, Marti, miercuri, joi, Vineri, Simbata, duminica
“Portuguese: Second-Feira (second Monday); Terca Feira (third day, Tuesday), Quarta-Feira (Day 4, Wednesday), Quinta Feira (Day 5, Thursday), La Sexta Feira-(6 th day Friday) , Saturday (Sabbath on Saturdays), Sunday (the Lord’s Day, Sunday)

“The Celtic languages have taken and preserved the Latin names of days, and also borrowed heavily Christian ideas:
“Wales: Dydd Llun (Moon / Moon days), Dydd Mawrth (day of March), Dydd mercher (day of Mercury), Dydd IAU (day of Jupiter), Dydd Gwener (day of Venus), Dydd Sadwrn (day of Saturn), Dydd Sul (sunny day)

“Gaelic: Di-Luain (day of the moon) Di-máirt (day of March), di-di-o ciaduinn ciadaoin (first fasting day of the week – Friday is the second fast); Diardaoin (the day between the two fasts of Wednesday and Friday), di-or slide-haoine aoine (fasting) of di-sathuirn (day of Saturn); dómhnuich-di (Day of the Lord)

“Ireland: Luan De (Luna / Moon days); In Mairt (day of March); In Céadaoin (first fasting day of the week); Déardaoin h-Aoine DE (The days between the two fasts of Wednesday and Friday); In Sathairn (day of Saturn); In Domhnaigh (Day of the Lord)

“The Germanic languages are also connected. Ares / Mars was equated with Tyr as a warrior of God Mercury. Zeus / Jupiter was used as the god Thor, the lightning released. Was equated with Odin, as they have both their psychompomps role as the dead will be played after the death of their lives. Aphrodite / Venus and Freyja and Frigg were identified.

“Germany: Monday (Moon Day), Monday (the day of the wheel), Wednesday (weekdays), Thursday (Thunder / day of Thor), Friday (Freya / Frigga Day), Saturday (ultimately, Sabbatum derived from Latin), Sunday (day of sun)”.
“Norwegian and Danish: Mandag (lunar day), tirsdag (Day of the rim), onsdag (day of Odin), torsdag (Thor’s day), Fredag (Freyja / Frigg’s day), Lordag (day laundry ) Sondag (sunny day)

“In Holland: maandag (lunar day), dinsdag, woensdag (Wodan / Odin days), donderda (Thunder / day of Thor), Vrijdag (Freya / Frigga Day), Zaterdag (day of Saturn) Zondag (sunny day)

“Sweden: Mandag (lunar day), TISDAG (Day of the rim), onsdag (day of Odin), torsdag (Day IFCO) Fredag (Freya / Frigga day), Lordag (laundry day), Sondag ( sunny day)

“Old English: mondæg or monandæg (day of the moon); tiwesdæg (TIW time of day, tires); wodnesdæg (Wotan / Odin days); thunresdæg (Thor’s day); frigedæg (Frigga / Freya’s day); sæterdæg or sæternesdæg (day of Saturn); sunnandæg (sunny day)

“Middle English: Monday, Currency and or monenday (moon day) or tewesday tiwesday (TIW time of day, tires); wodnesday, Wednesday or wednesdai (Wotan / Odin days) or thuresday Thursday (Thor’s day); fridai (Frigga / Freya day), Saturday (day of Saturn); soneday, sonenday sunnenday Sunday (sunny day)

“North Frisian: monnendei (moon day); Tirsdei (Týr’s days); Winsdei (Wotan / Odin days); Türsdei (Thor’s day); Fridei (Frigga / day of Freyja), Sennin (Evening Sun); sennedei (day the sun)

“Etymologically, it is impossible to say with certainty whether the” Friday the Frigg or Freyja words (or at least what I said, I am not a philologist or linguistics expert) can be derived. We can say that equates cognates derives its name from the goddess Aphrodite and Venus, Friday also can mean Fashion, Friday Fashion.

“We are going to other problems in this” woman Freya “is derived from the root meaning is simply” ‘, while’ Frigga ‘comes from the roots associated with the beloved. “There have been several researchers that Frigg and Freyja are different titles for the same goddess to exist.

“However, it remains probably the word Friday comes from the name of one of the two goddesses, not the name of the god Freyr.”

Well, this is the type of study is rigorous series can achieve. This is a preponderance of the evidence, which can carry the day in court. Even if you delete one of the three contenders for the title of the same Friday, the Lady Vikings was to provide reaction time beyond the call of duty for me the information I requested.

How did this get started.

It’s Friday the 13th,so here we go let’s look at the beginings of this superstition to see where it came from. The fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia (Frigga being the name of the Norse goddess for whom “Friday” is named and triskaidekaphobia meaning fear of the number thirteen), or paraskevidekatriaphobia a concatenation of the Greek words Paraskeví (Παρασκευή, meaning “Friday”), and dekatreís (δεκατρείς, meaning “thirteen”) attached to phobía (φοβία, from phóbos, φόβος, meaning “fear”). The latter word was derived in 1911[citation needed] and first appeared in a mainstream source in 1953.
Rossini by Henri GrevedonAccording to folklorists, there is no written evidence for a “Friday the 13th” superstition before the 19th century. The earliest known documented reference in English occurs in Henry Sutherland Edwards’ 1869 biography of Gioachino Rossini:

Rossini was surrounded to the last by admiring and affectionate friends; Why Friday the 13th Is Unlucky

Consequently, several theories have been proposed about the origin of the Friday the 13th superstition.

One theory states that it is a modern amalgamation of two older superstitions: that thirteen is an unlucky number and that Friday is an unlucky day.

In numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness, as reflected in the twelve months of the year, twelve hours of the clock, twelve gods of Olympus, twelve tribes of Israel, twelve Apostles of Jesus, the 12 Descendants of Muhammad Imams, etc., whereas the number thirteen was considered irregular, transgressing this completeness. There is also a superstition, thought by some to derive from the Last Supper or a Norse myth, that having thirteen people seated at a table will result in the death of one of the diners.
Friday has been considered an unlucky day at least since the 14th century’s The Canterbury Tales, and many other professions have regarded Friday as an unlucky day to undertake journeys or begin new projects. Black Friday has been associated with stock market crashes and other disasters since the 1800s. It has also been suggested that Friday has been considered an unlucky day because, according to Christian scripture and tradition, Jesus was crucified on a Friday. One author, noting that references are all but nonexistent before 1907 but frequently seen thereafter, has argued that its popularity derives from the publication that year of Thomas W. Lawson’s popular novel Friday, the Thirteenth, in which an unscrupulous broker takes advantage of the superstition to create a Wall Street panic on a Friday the 13th. Records of the superstition are rarely found before the 20th century, when it became extremely common.
The connection between the Friday the 13th superstition and the Knights Templar was popularized in the 2003 novel The Da Vinci Code. However, experts agree that this is a relatively recent correlation, and most likely a modern-day invention. Although according to many Freemasons, this date corresponds with the slaughtering of the Knights Templar by the Church.

According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina, an estimated 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day. Some people are so paralyzed by fear that they avoid their normal routines in doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed. “It’s been estimated that [US]$800 or $900 million is lost in business on this day”. Despite this, representatives for both Delta and Continental Airlines say that their airlines do not suffer from any noticeable drop in travel on those Fridays.

Rate of accidentsThere are conflicting studies about the risk of accidents on Friday the 13th. The Dutch Centre for Insurance Statistics (CVS) on June 12, 2008, stated that “fewer accidents and reports of fire and theft occur when the 13th of the month falls on a Friday than on other Fridays, because people are preventatively more careful or just stay home. Statistically speaking, driving is slightly safer on Friday the 13th, at least in the Netherlands; in the last two years, Dutch insurers received reports of an average 7,800 traffic accidents each Friday; but the average figure when the 13th fell on a Friday was just 7,500.” However, a 1993 study in the British Medical Journal that compared the ratio of traffic accidents between Friday the 6th and Friday the 13th stated that there is a significant increase in traffic-related accidents on Friday the 13th.] There are indications that there are more accidents on Fridays than average weekdays (irrespective of the date) probably because of alcohol consumption. Therefore it is less relevant for this purpose to compare Friday the 13th with any other 13th day of another month.

So this may be a truly unlucky day I leave it to you and your beliefs .

Balck Friday seems Pretty rediculus to me. Everyone goes out on one day to do all their shopping, and they have great deals, yes, but old ladies get stepped on and it’s completly insane. not to mention the businesses are dumb for simply following the croud on this. Come on, they have to compete with every other company on one day, rather than ahve al these deal on say, the friday or saterday before, allowing the employees of all the other businesses come to purchase their items. this way all the employees of the other stores are at work, so they can;t spend money, and they have a massive amount of unnessicary competition. why can’t we have a month of Black Fridays? it would be safer for shopper, better for business and thus our economy,

Where are you going for Black Friday?

As just about everyone knows, Black Friday (the friday after Thanksgiving) is supposedly the day that every company goes past their quota and makes pure profit until the end of the year. As a celebration of surpasing their quota, there are some pretty crazy deals on great Christmas gifts or just gifts for yourself.

The most common and crazy stores are the big name stores such as Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Sears, and etc..

So I want to know where you will be going and why?

Whether you’re looking for a T.V. or appliances, Wal-Mart, Target and Sears are definitely the way to go as they have a wide selection of all of those at great prices. But for those purely electronics people like me, Best Buy is Heaven. There are 1080p T.Vs being sold for under $200.00. I have never seen any sales even close to this.

Usually all the stores will open at 12:00 a.m. on friday and have lines forming out starting as early as 6:00 on Thanksgiving day. Traditionally, the first x-amount of people will get a prize of some sort or a gift card which makes the waiting worth-while. I hope to go to Best Buy on Thanksgiving night at 9:00 and camp out for some great deals and I look forward to seeing others with me.

Hope everyone stays safe this Black Friday and gets the deals they were hoping for. Feel free to leave a comment saying where you are going for Black Friday or what deals you got/are hoping to get.

The meaning behind the term "Black Friday".

Have you ever wondered why Black Friday was always called er, Black Friday? Well, it may sound obvious to you but these are the meanings behind the term “Black Friday”.

Traditional Meaning- In the past, during the christmas seasons (usually starts the day after thanksgiving), shops held sales which were greeted upon by many shoppers for the cheapest sales in town. As a result, there was tons and tons of people out to shop on that day resulting in traffic accidents and violence throughtout the main cities. Hence, as a result of the tragedies caused by these sales, the day was coined “Black Friday”.

The Modern Meaning- Accountants generally use black ink to singnify profits in a business and red to signify losses. Since retailers wanted to put out a positive mood during the sales, they coined the term black friday which to them meant profitable friday.

So now you know where the term Black Friday came from.

I am really happy that this weekend is an extra long weekend. Its perfect because we have Friday then the weekend then Monday all off. To top that all off we have a late start on Tuesday. It sucks, however, that I dont have very much to do this weekend. I didnt get MW3 because I didnt want to and I am really looking forward to November 15th for Saints Row The Third which is on Tuesday. This month has been going by very fast and it actually besides December is the shortest school month of the year. Thanksgiving takes a few days of and there are some other days off snuck in too. This is great because I cant wait for a lot of things that are coming up and no school makes everything go by a lot faster. Well now its time to go to sleep!!

Rebecca Black released a new song today titled My Moment.

Rebecca Black is back at it with a new song, and although the lyrics are not annoying, and if anyone else were singing this song (except for maybe Justin Bieber) the world would love it, she is still getting hate for being a musician even though she has a better voice than the majority of the population. Already the dislikes overtake the likes, and you can’t help but feel bad for her. Her net-worth is now over 1 Million dollars, more than any of us can say. But I’m not going to preach about it, here is Rebecca Blacks new song; My Moment
