What makes people want?

Well in part 1 I covered a lot, but not all information that I feel important. As what lead Cane to kill his brother Abel? Jealousy; because God favored Abel’s offering of animal sacrifice over Cane’s vegetable and fruit offering.

Jealousy; what we today sometimes refer to the green eyed monster. A monster like being that eradicates reasonable thinking and behavior. Jealousy is defined and rival resentment, success or advantage, mental uneasiness from suspicion or fear of rivalry, unfaithfulness as in love or aims.

When a person enters the mental street, there are many avenues to take or consider. They say many are one way streets which no end, just turn after turn leading into a vicious circle. It begins with losing sleep. One compounds also by self peer pressure, and subconsciously feelings of inferiority. One can substitute sound judgment with petty small animosities. These may all be small, but never underestimate small, small can multiply quickly. Ask anyone who has dealt with a large number of stupid.

Fortunately most people can navigate on the mental street and realize that other opportunities are or will be available.

No story on motivation would be complete without money. Money is not the root to all evil but the want of money is. Take a look at most people you know, with the economic situation like it is now most people aren’t that happy. Go online and check into making extra money, or part-time work, bill consolidation, you will quickly find yourself heavily bombarded with information. Most useless, scams, you may join Paid to Click, Paid to Read, free sites that make a lot of promises. But as short lived talk shows that ask a lot of questions, but don’t really offer sound advice. It won’t take you long to see that you are wasting your time. You may find a guru type claiming that you merely need to join X amount of sites as per recommended and joining under said guru of course. Then as you join you link them to each other and then surf or buy credits to advertise your sites.

You stop most of your hobbies, no more wasting your precious time. You find yourself using most of your free time surfing, clicking, then auto surfing and after a few months has went by, you read and discover you have made $000.3. But then you read further and realize that free members do not get paid cash. In a heat of the moment, you delete about 75% of your list. So then you are up most of the night online again for information and this time you find an undiscovered goldmine! A pre-launch that if you are one of the first 5000 to “get in” you will be guaranteed a return of your investment within 2 months of going public!

You quickly read over the highlighted areas and “It’s your day!” You make the decision to take it. Remember the mental street I mentioned before, well it is not likely that Good Sense joined you as you entered Opportunity Lane. Although Good Sense may have tried to get you to read the smaller writing about warnings. Remember the old adage, the bold print gives but the small print takes away?

It will hit you when you get your credit card statement and now realize what you should have done. Quit trying to take shortcuts, think. Your grandparents and parents worked hard for many years to get what they have. They had to use an old crank type can-opener and maybe still do. They knew how to sacrifice, save and plan. Have you ever noticed that Grandma George Anna’s floors are so clean? You ask what she uses; guess what, an old corn straw broom and a mop manufactured by the blind. No electricity needed just elbow grease and time. No desire to keep up with the Jones. Just the desire to have her home clean, as cleanliness is next to Godliness!

  Her motivation is God, family.

Copywriting.

I’ve been a student of the Bible for practically all my life. There is a lot of reason why this book remains the number one best-seller year after year. I think that it is the source of ALL wisdom, yes, including successful copywriting!

What do I mean by this?

Simply put, every copywriting strategy can be found FIRST in the Bible. This may appear to be a strong statement but I challenge the reader to prove otherwise. As I did the research for my latest ebook “77 Ways to Skyrocket Your Website’s Conversion”, I kept saying to myself “but that’s in the Bible … that’s in the Bible.”

I would like to take a look at FIVE copywriting principles and show you that they are as old as the Scriptures. This article is not meant to ‘convert’ you so read with an open mind … ready? Let’s go!

1. Stress benefits not features.

It’s the Garden of Eden. The serpent approaches the woman Eve to get her to take of the forbidden fruit. Does he rave about the color, taste and texture of the fruit? No, he sells Eve on benefits. “Your eyes will be opened, you will be like God …” (Genesis 3:4). Now that’s a benefit, not a feature at all. And did Eve fall for it? She surely did.

That may seem like a ‘negative’ example – a plain deception. But look at what the book of Revelation promises the “overcomer”. Eternal life, health, recognition, wealth and mansions without mortgages.

2. Use lots of testimonials.

If you have just a cursory knowledge of the Bible you know that the gospels of Matthew, Mark Luke and John make up the first four books of the New Testament. They all cover the same ground and share many common stories. So why would we need four different people saying practically the same thing?

You see they all wanted to tell THEIR story about the Rabbi Jesus Christ. So the writers (all satisfied customers) relate the life-changing encounter they each had – the more testimonies the better.

The entire Bible relates stories of peoples encounter with the supernatural and how it affected their lives. In fact, Jesus related to the disciples after His miraculous resurrection that all the Old Testament was really about Him.

3. “Create a damaging admission and address flaws openly”

That’s the title to chapter 3 of the master copywriter Dan Kennedy’s book “The Ultimate Sales Letter”. He goes on to explain that if you openly admit the drawbacks of your offer then your credibility goes up instantly with the customer. For example, your price may be higher than your competitors so you may say: “If you are looking to save a few bucks then you can find many other companies who will be willing to give you some ‘quick fixes’. But we provide a very thorough and expert service, hence the higher price

You are admitting that you are expensive but showing why – the customer gets a superior service.

In the gospels we see many potential disciples who wanted to follow Jesus and he told them openly that it was a sacrificial walk. He told them in no uncertain terms that it involved a “cross”, leaving father and mother behind, even possible death – but you will gain eternal life in the process. Talk about a “damaging admission.

4. Place a limit on your offer to motivate procrastinators.

This is a very important element of the “call to action” section of any sales letter. Humans are naturally procrastinators. We always put off what should be done now for a ‘later’ that never arrives. That is why the copywriter must show that supplies are limited or the special offer is for a ‘limited time only’.

In many ‘call to action’ sections of the Bible we see the same warning to procrastinators. “Today if you hear my voice do not harden your heart ..” (Hebrews 3:7). In the story of the great flood procrastinators were found outside the ark. Jesus told the story of the covetous farmer who built bigger barns to store his grains not knowing that death would come knocking on his door that very night.

Jesus never sent one of his listeners to go away and think about it. Today … now, was the only time that anyone had. His message was “ACT NOW!”

5. Research your potential customers to know their problems and needs.

Dan Kennedy refers to this as “getting into the customer”. Getting into the head and experiences of the customer -walk in his moccasins.

The whole Christmas story is about Jesus getting into the skin – literally – of the customer. The writer of Hebrews says that Jesus is touched by our feelings and infirmities. He became like one of us so that He may understand “the customer” better. That is why he could speak to the needs of the human heart with such authority because he knows what is in man.

I’ve just briefly looked at 5 copywriting principles but this applies across the board. Whether you accept the Bible as just another book or as inspired writings, there is no denying that the principles are there.

I would love to hear from the reader if he or she would like to challenge me on finding a useful copywriting principle that’s not in the Bible.

More Plato mused about why people are so willing to kiss. His theory was as follows. Previously, a person to the form of a ball. He had four arms, four legs and two heads, both male and female. This is a single creature, however, was too arrogant, and Zeus, angry, divided it into “male” and “female” halves. And only through a kiss, according to Plato, it will connect again. In any case, the separation was a punishment. Zeus did not intend to give people pleasure … And calculate!

How did the kiss?

I wonder where did the kiss, a familiar and beloved by all forms of communication? After all, we kiss a hundred times a day, without even noticing it (shaking hands with friends and family, thanks to someone for their assistance, leaving and saying goodbye) And here is where it all began, few people remember! Finally, the mystery will be solved! More …

When was your first kiss?

When was your first kiss? In the Garden of Eden between Adam and Eve? Or in the smoky cave of mammoth hunters? It is believed that the development of a kiss was laid about 3000 BC. er. when people worship the gods sent them kisses. More …

Origin of a kiss

Kiss in its origin is not atavistichen not innate in the child, because he learns he is only with time, it – repeating the sucking act, as Darwin thought. More …

World Day of Kisses

On this day, everyone can “share their souls,” the full right to: July 6, the World Day of kisses (World Kiss Day or World Kissing Day), which was first invented in the UK.

These places are of historical importance, they are cultural monuments... but they are also specific for being intriguing and full of unsolved mysteries. None of us can answer the questions surrounding their existence, yet we admire them unconditionally for their beautiness and mystic charming influence.
Here are top five choices...it was hard to make it a choice, though... so, feel free to say if you agree with this list. Any comment is appreciated.

1.STONEHENGE, Whilshire county , England

Probably the most famous and one of the world’s most popular monuments is situated in England, in the county of Whilshire. It is believed that it was built around 2500 BC, and about 1,400 years was further converted to its current appearance. The stone columns are arranged apparently by some logic in a semicircle, but it has not yet been determined what was the real purpose of this or why the massive stones are arranged the way they are. To this date, Stonehenge remains one of the biggest mysteries of the ancient world.

2.RAPA NUI, EASTER ISLANDS, Polynesia, south Pacific

Also known as Rapa Nui or Isla de Pascua-Easter Islands, this Polynesian island is located in the eastern Pacific and is best known for the famous monumental sculptures that are created, supposedly, by Rapa Nui people. Statues called Moai have been the object of worship of the island residents, who lived between the 1250th and 1500. AD. The hardest of them named Moai has more than 86 tons. Some statues were moved by time, but it never became clear how these people managed to drag them and place such heavy stone blocks at a time when there was almost no aid other than human power. It also remains unknown of who exactly is represented by these figures.

3. MYSTERIOUS ROCKS, BAALBEK, Liban

The largest Roman temple ever built is surprisingly not to be found in Greece or Rome, but in Lebanon, in the town of Baalbek. The temple was destroyed by the Byzantine Emperor Theodosius, but still six of the original 54 columns are standing. Despite its magnificent beauty it had very little traffic because of the war in Lebanon, but fortunately this archaeological site has not suffered damage. No one knows what made the Romans to bring all these stones and massive stone blocks all the way here, to build one of the largest temples that ever existed.

4. MACCHU PICHU, Peru

This is the best preserved city of the Inca empire in the Peruvian Andes, hidden somewhere at the top of the mountain. The city has for centuries been forgotten and lost to the outside world; however archaeologist Hiram Bingham rediscovered it in 1911. Those who have visited this in many ways attractive site, say that the rocks from which the city was built are so fully and strongly connected, that not even a toothpick can fit in between!

5. THREE STONE CIRCLES – GOBEKLI TEPE, south Turkey

In southern Turkey, near the border with Syria, there are three megalithic stone structures that scientists claim to be 700 years older than the legendary Stonehenge, which is generally believed to be the oldest monument of a civilization. It has never been precisely determined what these circles are, but some scientists believe that they were built by ancient hunters, in order to hide during the hunt. Another group of scientists believes that they arise as a consequence of the expansion of the ancient city which was located nearby. The three stone circles in the vicinity of Gobekli Tepe were once deliberately buried to keep them hidden for unknown reasons. People believe that these circles have served as inspiration for the vision of the Garden of Eden.

The sun under a solitary mulberry. He sat in the shade when he noticed that the floor appeared a strange oblong stone whose smooth surface caught his eye.

Looking carefully around the tree found a collection of stones

strange. Many of them had angles that are not common in nature, so he decided to discuss with someone his discovery.

After all, perhaps these stones were important.

Archaeologists have established that the pastor was right: the stones are undoubtedly important. In this hot summer day in 1994 had made the greatest archaeological discovery of the last 50 years, according to others, the most important of all time. This site has revolutionized the way people see the history of mankind, the origin of religion and perhaps even the truth behind the Garden of Eden.

This would be the last vestiges of a “golden age” of the Stone Age, with some 11,000 years old.

In this area lived gazelle hunting tribes who built huge temples here dedicated to snakes and lived as if in the Garden of Eden. Archaeologists suspect that Adam actually existed and that, in the parable of “original sin” is a real historical background.

“And the Lord planted a garden in Eden, facing East, and put the man inside.”

According to scripture, and history began with Adam and Eve quietly installed in the middle of an orchard surrounded by trees. This story of Creation has had a huge impact and is one of the essential texts of Christianity. The Celts, for example, had the Garden of Apple, called Avalon, and the Greek Island of the Blest.

But only in the Christian Eden added seasonings that linked sex and spirit. The text describes the parable of paradise does not occupy more than 50 lines in the Bible, but it has generated enormous debate on the issue.

Archaeologists suspect that Adam actually existed. This debate has Risque after this anonymous pastor seek a place for sun protection. His finding became the discovery of the world’s oldest temple, surrounded by wonderful megalithic monuments and vestiges of a “golden age” of the Stone Age, virtually unknown until now.

One of the sites most surprising to archaeologists is located on a bare hill near Urfa. Rub it, centuries ago, were piled several temples. So far they have unearthed four, but we know the existence of at least sixteen.

Several stone pillars decorated with representations of spiders, centipedes lions and Garden complete the course. They can also be seen among the debris, the statue of a boar and a large human head. This archaeological site known as Göbekli Tepe, which translated means something like “Monte Navel”. This archaeological site known as Tepe Göbekli

Klaus Schmidt, director of the excavations in Tepe Göbekli says is a “unique place” with “power architecture of Stonehenge.”

Some of the biggest pillars weigh 50 tons. Schmidt assumed that this place will soon achieve fame as it has the potential to modify many of our beliefs about the past. “Until now the only thought that they built temples and permanent settlements had been sedentary farmers,” he explains.

But it took about 500 workers to build this place. Clearly, there is the work of pastors lonely. To get an idea of the importance of archeology at the time that lit bonfires and held sacrificial worship in these temples, although there was the first farming village on Earth.

“And the Lord planted a garden in Eden and put man ,[...], inside”

The controversy is served. For some, this is the place where a very earthy Eva invited to Adam with the apple that would change humanity. For others, it’s just a settlement, perhaps the oldest of all-of the first humans.

Some have even suggested the interference of alien cultures when you move the stones that make up the columns in place. Anyway, Göbekli Tepe is destined to become the true navel of archeology.

I drove down the road and observed a sign which read "Your tithes and offerings at work" I wondered how the person or persons collecting those tithes traced his or their linage back to the tribe of Levy? My understanding is that the connection was destroyed forever when the Law of Christ became effective. One young fellow sought agreement in Luke 18:12. The Bible tells me that Jesus was born and died under the Law of Moses. He was also sinless, he did not violate the Law of Moses. We cannot agree our way around God's commandments.

Popular teachings seem to be that if two or more people agree on a religious action then the God of heaven and earth have no choice but to honor their agreement. Then there is also the buzz what ever you do. Do it as to service unto the Lord. That statement gets the entire assembly to their feet with applause. These are the teachings that tickle the ears of the hearers and fill the speakers pocket with coin. What does the Bible say about people who speak such falsehoods. Jer 14:14 Then the LORDH3068 saidH559 untoH413 me, The prophetsH5030 prophesyH5012 liesH8267 in my name:H8034 I sentH7971 them not,H3808 neitherH3808 have I commandedH6680 them, neitherH3808 spakeH1696 untoH413 them: theyH1992 prophesyH5012 unto you a falseH8267 visionH2377 and divination,H7081 and a thing of nought,H434 and the deceitH8649 of their heart.H3820

Many today seek to use parts of the Old Testament and the Law of Moses to justify teaching that more out of alignment with the law of Jesus. They urge hears to agree with them that God may approve their actions. They are in effect saying that man can change anything God has commanded. I am reminded of the two fellows who agreed to rob a place of business. They were caught and are now serving time. Their agreement did not change the law. We read in Genesis of God placing Adam in the Garden of Eden. Gen 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

We want to observe the players at the beginning of chapter 3, Satan is there, Eve is there, and then she took the fruit to Adam for agreement. God commanded Adam: Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Satan entered the serpent and starts to toy with the command of God seeking agreement for a change he wants to make. Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Satan tickled the woman’s ears with something she wanted to hear. Satan only changed one word. She agreed with Satan and she then pulled Adam into this unholy agreement. After all he only changed on one word in God’s command. What was the big deal? They were all in agreement surely God had to accept their decision to be wise as gods. Scripture bears out that God meant what he commanded. Gen 3:24 So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

This is one case of Biblical agreement that proved that God meant what he said.

The Bible tells us that the Jewish nation agreed to destroy Jesus. The guardians of he Law of Moses created a council that was suppose to decide all high matters. Yet, according to scripture only a hand full of men got together and decided to accuse Jesus before the Romans and have put to death. This man Jesus the savior of the Jewish nation is mentioned all through Old Testament writings. Men who were learned in these writings were responsible for killing the Son of God, the savior of the Jewish nation. Why did this happen? They had arrived at the level of human behavior where they figured they could agree to change what God had commanded and there was nothing God could do about it. That was what they believed anyway. Lets observe the players in this act. Satan prepared the council then he entered Judas and the Romans agreed to kill him.

Mat 26:3 Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

Mat 26:4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

Jesus had asked the question hat angered these men. They feared the would lose what they had worked to change in the law. They had written some 216 additional regulations to ensure hat the law was obeyed as they saw it.

Mat 22:41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

Mat 22:42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.

Mat 22:43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

Mat 22:44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

Mat 22:45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

Mat 22:46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

These men had agreed that Christ was the son of David. However, their agreement did not change his birth-right. The Kingdom was taken from them as God had commanded. It appears that a lot of people are in for a big surprise when the Lord returns. Especially those who have decided to agree to change what God have commanded. I may have heard one speaker ask the question. What is God going to do send the whole world to hell? Let us bear in mind that only eight souls escaped the flood.

It seems that I read some place “curse anyone who dare to speak against this ministry” The man who spoke that believes that he has changed what God commanded and there is nothing God can do about it. There can bee no agreement on error. The individual is called to determine what is truth and move away from falsehood.

Christopher Columbus is possibly the best known explorer of the middle ages. Born in Genoa, Italy in 1451, not much is know of his early life but as a young man he worked as a sailor and then became a sea fairing entrepreneur.

His obsession was to find a western sea route to the rich trading routs of China, India and the fabled gold and Spice Islands of Asia. The only known passage to Southern Asia at the time was via Egypt and the Red Sea, but like many land routes they were closed to Europeans by the Ottoman Empire.

Although most people today are under the impression that medieval sailors thought the world was flat, this is a myth and Columbus and his contemporaries, and many that came before him, knew the world was round, as documented by St Isidore as far back as the seventh century.

However they were not aware of the existence of the Pacific Ocean, causing them to underestimate the size of the planet, which led Columbus to believe the location of East Asia was situated in what is in fact North America.

At first, Columbus had trouble finding backers to fund what he called his, ‘Enterprise of the Indies’. He was rejected by the Portuguese king John II and twice by King Ferdinand and his queen, Isabella of Spain, before they finally agreed to back his expedition in 1492.

On August 3 that year, he set sail with three small ships, the Santa Maria, the Pinta and the Nina. Two months later, they sighted land, most likely Watling Island in the Bahamas and claimed the territory for Spain. Soon after, they sighted Cuba, believing it to be China and by December, they found Hispaniola, believing they had found Japan.

This was not the first time that the New World had been discovered as was formally believed by historians but it was the first time since the tenth century, when the Vikings established colonies in Greenland and Newfoundland.

Columbus established a small colony in Hispaniola with thirty-nine men while he and the rest of his crew returned to Spain. They took with them gifts of gold, spices and what he believed to be Indian captives for his patrons. They arrived in March 1493 and he received the honour of being made an ‘admiral of the sea’ and securing a second expedition.

In September 1493, the second expedition set sail from Cadiz comprising of seventeen large ships and one and half thousand colonists, arriving in the New World in November. By the time he got back to Hispaniola, the thirty-nine men he had left had been slaughtered by the native people and a second colony was founded.

Columbus swiftly set about subduing the native Taino tribe and conducted what some believe to be a campaign of genocide. He enslaved many and slaughtered many more, taking the population down from as many as eight million when he and his crew first arrived to around three million by 1496.

After exploring numerous islands in the Caribbean including Puerto Rico and Jamaica, he returned to Spain in June 1496 but was not well receive as the second expedition had proved expensive for his patrons, the king and queen of Spain.

With all concerned still believing the territory found was in Asia, a third, smaller expedition was organised with Columbus instructed to find a strait to India. In May 1498, six ships set sail carrying provisions and more colonists, who landed this time in Trinidad and then entered the Gulf of Paria in Venezuela.

It was here, when he realised the size of the Orinoco River, that Columbus is said to have known he was not in Asia but in fact had discovered a new continent which he believed must be the outer regions of the Garden of Eden, (although some historians maintain that he still believed it was Asia he had found when asked about it on his death bed).

He returned to Hispaniola where he had left his brothers in charge, Diego and Bartholomew. Conditions there were in decline and Columbus decided to take charge, ruling with an iron hand causing resentment from the colonists and local chiefs alike. Complaints of his brutal rule got back to Spain and in 1500 a chief justice was sent to bring him and his brothers back to Spain in chains.

However on his return he was realised from bondage and allowed a fourth expedition by his patrons who were impressed by his belief that he had found the location of the Garden of Eden. He was instructed to find the earthly paradise and the kingdoms of gold believed to be nearby.

On his return to the New World, he explored the coast of Central America looking for gold and on attempting to return to Hispaniola, got marooned in Jamaica where he was stranded for a year before being rescued.

In November 1504, he returned to Spain, three weeks before Queen Isabella died. After that the king was uninterested in seeing the explorer, who, although gained a substantial income from Hispaniola gold, felt mistreated by the monarch and believed more expeditions were in order.

Columbus died on May 20, 1506 after finding what would, unbeknown to him, make Spain the richest and most powerful country in Europe over the next century as a result of the great wealth they would take from his discovery of the New World.

Similarities between Hillary Clinton and Eve.

The role of gender and morality in the West stems from the passages of the Bible specifically The Book of Genesis. So it’s not too much of a stretch to equate the story of Eve to Mrs Hillary Clinton who is running for office. One can see many parallels between the two.

The story of Eve has has shaped many people’s perception of how a woman should act or be like. Eve is a representation of elements that man should guard against. Disobedient, guileless, weak-willed, prone to temptation and evil, disloyal, untrustworthy, deceitful, seductive, and their thoughts are purely of self interest. One can see how Hillary is also perceived this way by the way the media reports her.

No matter how much Hillary has achieved in the world and in her field, the story of Eve reminds people that she is still not to be trusted. Many Christian text warn men of the follies or the ignominy of the original sin and the fall of man brought by Eve.

This perception has haunted women in all fields in a male dominated world even till today. Hillary stood by her husband in the whole Monica Lewinsky scandal/affair. Many women could not relate to her and were not on her side. Many talk show hosted by women were very vocal and received thunderous applaud when the host made remarks about how she should leave him or “kick him to the curb” , and how standing by her man was not the right thing to do at the time under the circumstance. The story of Genesis not only warns men not to trust women but also women not to trust women.

“For I do not allow woman to teach, or to exercise authority over men; but she is to keep silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.” (1 Timothy 2:12-14)

Hillary is challenging the male dominated world of politics. Make no mistake about it, the world of politics is a very patriarchal. The media plays an important part in reaffirming what is already ingrained in our psyche. We the people are Adam and Hillary is Eve. She is going to prevail over us. She will tempt, beguile, lure, corrupt, persuade, teach, counsel, suggest, urge, use wicked persuasion, lead us into wrongdoing, prove herself an enemy, use guile and cozening, tears and lamentations, to prevail upon Adam (or us). The predominant male news talk show hosts, from Chris Matthews to Bill O’Reily use this tactic of creating an image of Eve in Hillary. They in turn use words like the ones above to describe Eve to describe Hillary. There is a clear bias between her and the other candidates in the way she is “reported”.

I am absolutely appalled by the bias the media coverage has been on Hillary. She is constantly vilified and being shown has the weaker one primarily based on her gender. I may be a Obama supporter but I want to hear what she has to say and what her plans are. Nothing is set in stone. Especially not opinions. It is to be challenged and argued with. I want a fair coverage. I want a fair playing field. To be treated like Eve when running for an important office in an important time, is simply ridiculous. Eve is after all, a fictional character. She has been used by a patriarchal society throughout history as a tool of control and oppression. It is 2008 and we are now seeing a new manifestation of Eve on our tv screens. It is not right to vilify another candidate who is also trying to set her agenda to move the country forward to not have a voice simply based on an old Biblical story.I want to hear what both sides have to say. Only then will I be able to learn, and choose a better candidate that I feel is right.

There have been many grumblings from the supporters of the other candidates who have made it clear that should she get nominated, they will vote for the other candidate even if the other candidate is the Republican candidate. This is the supporters taking on the role of Adam once again. They do not and will not be the fallen ones. They know the story. They have a wide-spread conviction that Eve tempted Adam to sin and was therefore responsible for Adam’s fall. Should we be tempted by this character of Eve?

Are we that fickle?

In the story of Genesis, Eve is perceived to be created as an afterthought. A solution to a failed experiment. Concerned that man was alone and lonely in the garden of Eden, God decided to make a “helper fit for him” and brought before him “every beast of the field and every bird of the air.” She was created from one of Adam’s rib. Ever since then, she has been a subordinate to him, a helper created specifically for him. A few months ago, Hillary made the case that both her and Obama could run as a “dream team” ticket. Hillary as President and Obama as VP. The backlash was quick and fast. How dare she!. Many people felt that the right way was to have Obama, the man, in the front and her as a woman as the second. In a news interview of the man on the street, this woman said it best. ” it doesn’t even look right”. Yes, the image of a woman Presidential candidate and her male counterpart as the VP, does not sound right. The psyche of Eve being the subordinate is so ingrained in us, that the image follows us even to the highest office of the land.
