This is the beginning of my ghost story. Jacob Downing is a paranormal investigator who has failed to find any evidence of the supernatural. Upon investigating a family's home he discovers the true of ghosts, and that there are a handful of people who have the power to stop them. Note: the story will be uploaded as written. Please comment and leave suggestions/tips.

Chapter 1

Jacob Downing sat at his desk by the glow of his computer reviewing the footage of his last paranormal investigation. He hoped that after the umpteenth time of watching it, he just might see a faint apparition, a cup move of its own accord, hear a bang from nowhere or something that could possibly be evidence of the paranormal!

Jacob’s thoughts were clear: Let’s face it; there has never been any evidence!

He held his head in his hands and rubbed his face from tiredness and exacerbation; running his hands over late night stubble reminding him he had been at this pointless task all night. Jacob had sent his two assistants home – glancing at his watch – five or six hours ago; he couldn’t remember. The task of reviewing the videotaped footage was beginning to become tedious, and all cases started to merge into one big waste of time. He was just too hopeful to find something ghostly to acknowledge it.

Hitting stop on the media player, Jacob watched the time slider move back to the start of the footage. He pressed play.

‘Here we go again!’ he mumbled to himself.

Running his fingers through his short brown hair, leaning his head into his palm, he stared beyond the computer monitor knowing there was nothing to find. He lit another cigarette, inhaling a longer than usual, allowing a sigh to follow his exhale. Coffee would taste good about now, too.

Jacob watched the smoke from his cigarette drift slowly upwards, and flicked the ash into the ashtray. He didn’t really want it now. It tasted of defeat.

He stubbed it out half-way down.

He looked at his watch. The hands read 11.32p.m.

There were still two of the five digital recorders to go through – a couple of nights worth of white noise to listen to.

He could not wait for that!

The thermograph had captured nothing. Only the everyday lives of the family that reported the “haunting”. There was a bit of excitement when Day Two was played back, but it turned out to be the twelve year old son getting a glass of water in the middle of the night.

Yawn.

Sleep was catching up as much as Jacob fought it.

A few more minutes passed on the video, and Jacob decided it was enough for tonight. He closed the media player and shut down the computer. He unplugged the Digital Video Recorder from the USB port, switching that off too.

Turning the lights back on in his office, Jacob grabbed his coat, pack of Lambert & Butler cigarettes, and his car keys. He opened the office door, flicking the light switch off. As the door closed he remembered his lighter. On with the lights again, he saw it lying on the desk near the keyboard. Jacob shoved the lighter and his cigarettes in his left trouser pocket, flung his black coat on, and turned the lights back off.

Wearily, he exited his office. He fumbled with the key in the lock, making him threaten it if it did not go in. It just fuelled his irritability.

Finally the door was locked.

He walked across the main room where his assistants worked in darkness, almost bumping into the television. The main table where they discussed their work was still slightly visible given its size. He opened the main door and headed for the university foyer down three flights of stairs.

Outside the building it was fairly quiet. No surprise really for the time of night. It was just like the tapes – video and audio – nothing.

Jacob approached his car – a black Ford Fiesta – pressed the button on his remote. The locks click open, and he climbed in. Before he even got his car keys ready to start the car, Jacob took out his cigarettes, lit one, actually enjoying it this time.

Ah, sweet nicotine!

He clamped the cigarette between his lips and turned the key in the ignition. The car came to life. Home was only a few short miles, a small flat in a block called Riverside, aptly named being next to a river – if you could call it that.

Entering his flat – all he could afford after that bitch took him for everything in the divorce – Jacob headed straight for the bedroom and collapsed onto the bed, exhausted.

Chapter 2

The alarm screeched in Jacob’s ears. He reached over and pressed the button to cease the infernal machine’s noise. The digital display, as always, read 07.00. Boy, he felt rough. He didn’t remember drinking alcohol last night, but his tiredness made him feel like he may as well have.

He went into the cupboard that want supposedly a bathroom, peed and flushed, showered quickly.

While drying off, Jacob hoped that he might get a phone call today with some real potential; a haunting worth investigating. Not another episode of Most Haunted where someone gets touched and it must be a ghost! A genuine, honest to God, ghost. Just one would be fine, thanks.

He brushed his teeth.

Finding a fresh shirt and trousers from the wardrobe, Jacob got dressed. He had considered just putting on yesterday’s clothes, but that would have been a bad idea after wearing them for fifteen hours.

Arriving at his offices in the university, the two assistants were already there going through some notes while they waited for him.

‘Mornin’ Boss-man!’ Steve said jovially. Far too happy for the early morning Jacob was experiencing. Steve sat at the large table wearing his usual black jeans and whatever metal band printed on his faded t-shirt.

Jessica turned and smiled her greeting, quickly turning back to her work, making her blonde pony- tail sway. Her attire was more comforting: a purple blouse that hugged her curves, and tight blue jeans that really showed how long her legs were. Quite why she was here was a mystery to Jacob. He saw her doing fashion or at least art. Not hanging around with a forty-two year old ghost hunter and a twenty-something who could not stop eye-balling her. Although Jacob had had his fair share of glances when she leaned over a desk or, the pattern of her bra showed through her blouse.

‘Shall we get finished on the Hutton’s case, Boss?’

Shut up, Steve!!! ‘We can, but I don’t think there’s anything there. I think that’s another dead end. Pardon the pun.’

Steve laughed trying to assure everyone he got the joke.

Who was he fooling?

Jacob laughed at him in his mind; smiled in reality to agree it was as funny as Steve thought.

Jessica was writing up her notes still, oblivious to the conversation. She was a hard worker and natural photographer. She’d learnt the video and camera equipment well. If Steve wasn’t such a dork, he would still be doing it, but his angles were crap, and batteries wouldn’t be charged, and DVR not backed up so the device could be used for the next case, and so on. Jacob gladly let him handle the digital audio recorders.

Jacob thought he would probably have different people working with him – maybe Jessica would still be here – but when he put the notice up for paranormal studies these were the only two that showed up. Unless he counted the girl who did one night of investigated and freaked out because she was petrified about seeing something “unnatural”. Students could come and help his research when they had free time or whenever they wanted, but no one was interested except Christina Aguilera and one third of the Three Stooges; possibly Larry – Curly on worse days.

‘Jessica?’ She looked around to face Jacob. ‘When you’re finished, could you make sure everything is backed up to the USB dongles, and to tape?’

‘Yeah, I sure will, Doctor Downing.’

‘Jacob is fine, please.’

‘OK.’

‘What shall I do?’ Steve piped.

Jacob frowned. ‘Help Jessica. Use your initiative.’

Jessica raised the corner of her mouth for a brief moment while she wrote her case notes.

Steve seemed disappointed, but Jacob was not about to let him at footage unsupervised.

Jacob unlocked his office and slumped into his chair.

A few moments later, Jessica knocked gently on the door. ‘Can I just get a laptop and the footage from the Hutton’s case?’

‘Yeah, help yourself. The DVR’s are here; the thermograph and recorders are in the cabinet.’

‘Forgot to lock it last night, again?’ she asked, looking at the padlock dangling freely from its hoop.

‘Must have. It was late when I left.’

Twitching her nose, Jacob realised she could smell the smoke in the air. Jacob knew one day he’d set the smoke alarms off, but wasn’t bothered too much. He ignored the thought while he watched Jessica retrieve the equipment, pretending to look over some files. It was only once in a blue moon he did it.

At one o’clock Jacob leaned back in his chair, his comfy leather chair, interlocking his fingers behind his head.

‘For fuck’s sake,’ he whispered.

How much longer was he to wait for a true case to come his way? If there was nothing found soon the grant would be revoked. Hard as he tried there was just nothing to be found. He saw television programme after television programme finding some sort of evidence – even if it was a whisper on tape. Electronic Voice Phenomenon was everywhere, but the one’s Jacob and his team had heard could be considered background noise. The word futile sprang to mind.

Jacob was snapped out of his daydream by the telephone ringing. He tried hard not to get too excited at the claims someone was about to tell him. After all, it was going to be another set-up; another dead end.

He picked up the receiver.

‘Good afternoon, Doctor Downing speaking.’ He attempting friendly, but it still sounded like sarcasm.

‘He – Hello? Are you the paranormal investigator?’ asked a nervous woman.

‘Yes.’

‘A friend of mine said you could help me. I really hope you can, we’re at my wits end here.’

‘What appears to be the problem, Missis . . ?’

Jacob sounded bored already, knowing what was about to be said.

‘Parker. Patricia Parker. I can’t be certain, but I’m sure my family is being haunted by a poltergeist.’

‘OK, can you give me some details about the events that have transpired?’

‘I’m sorry?’

Jacob sighed.

‘Can you tell me what’s been happening?’

‘Oh . . . oh, things have been difficult in our family for a while now and . . . ‘

‘I meant with regards to the poltergeist, Missis Parker,’ he interrupted.

‘But it’s all connected. We found another expert before you. He told us he could not help as it would endanger his life.’

‘Who was this other “expert”?’

Jacob expected to hear the name, Peter Waters or even the Most Haunted crew – neither being “experts” in the field in his opinion – they both play along with the homeowners fears, then claim to clear the property of any spirit activity with use of a medium. Peter was the worst, someone Jacob had run into several times, and almost resulted in throwing a punch or two at him. He was the only one Jacob knew of to send a bill to the people he had so-called “helped”.

‘He was a very odd man, said he was from some spiritual group. I can’t remember the name of it.’

‘Did he not leave a card or some means to contact him?’

‘No.’

‘How did you get in touch with him in the first place?’

‘We didn’t. He came to us.’

Jacob began to lose interest now; yet another crack-pot on the line.

‘How did he know you had a poltergeist?’

‘He said that he had “sensed the presence” or something. He had come to warn us to move house.’

‘Move house? Why didn’t he help you?’ Jacob asked curiously.

‘He told me he couldn’t. If he tried to send the poltergeist away, it would endanger his home by draining his energy or something or other.’

‘Right,’ he said thinking it was a psychic trying to get paid more likely. Jacob attempted to hold back the smile on his face, but it was too late.

There was a moment of silence.

‘Can you help us, Doctor?’ Patricia pleaded.

‘My team and I can come and investigate your home; see what is actually causing the disturbance, yes.’

‘If that’s all you can do . . .’ she said sounding disappointed.

‘That is what we do, Missis Parker.’

‘How soon can you come?’

‘We can be there tomorrow, if that suits you?’

‘Yes please,’ she replied with relief in her voice.

‘Say . . . about this time?’

‘Yes, that’ll be ok.’

‘Ok then, see you tomorrow afternoon, Missis Parker.’

‘See you then. Thank you.’

‘Goodbye, Mrs Parker until tomorrow.’

‘Yes, and thank you again.’

Jacob heard the phone hang up on her end, placing the receiver back on his phone.

He went out to Jessica and Steve.

‘Get all the equipment ready for tomorrow, please.’

‘We got another case, Boss?’

‘Yep. Bit of an odd one, so be ready for another disappointment.’

‘I’ll pack up the equipment then and . . .’

‘No, Jessica will do that, Steve. I do not want a repeat of the Child’s case. You can get the audio recorders ready. Jessica, can you make sure we have everything, please?’

‘Trust me, mate, I can do it. I have learned a lot since then,’ Steve stated eagerly.

‘No! And that’s final!’

Steve sulked sneering at Jessica.

Do They Leave Ectoplasm Behind?

Ghostly lovers have been recorded for a while, even in films such as the movie The Entity with Barbara Hershey. Whether they are real or the fantasy of lonely women, you may never know. Unless you have one visits you some dark, cold night!

Mrs. June of Marke-by-Sea, (near Redcar, Yorkshire England), a mature woman with a 10 year old son, became obsessed with her Ouija board. This lead, in turn, to automatic writing, the entity she had contacted being a long dead spirit called “Leonardo”. He may be dead, but he still knew how to write a good love letter, Mrs. June claimed. He even claimed to have wanted a child with her. A few weeks after the automatic writing had started, Mrs. June saw a floating shadow above her bed and felt her bed clothes move. Leonardo had arrived, and was, it seemed, furious over her use of birth control pills. This doesn’t seem to have dampened Leonardo’s lust much, claims Mrs. June. She was quoted as saying” I would feel his presence, even his strength of feeling when he wanted to make love. He was a competent lover and must have been on earth as well. But human love is more satisfying. With spiritual love, there is no warmth of flesh.”
Reville, March 24, 1978

Jenny Price, 20, of Shebley Lane, Wedley Castle, Birmingham UK, claimed complete satisfaction with her ghostly lover. Her family had known that the house they lived in was haunted but had never told Jenny about it. The first approach was to the elder daughter, Lorraine, but it merely touched her shoulder. Then, one night while Jenny was sitting up in bed she felt invisible hands around her neck. With great strength the hands pushed her down onto the bed. So frightened was Jenny that she couldn’t scream. She thought the ghost was going to strangle her but suddenly realized that it had other intentions. After that, she was afraid to go to bed in case the attack was repeated, and a week later, it was. She soon realized that the ghost meant her no harm, however, and soon she started looking forward to its visits. They soon started taking place as often as three times week. Three years past and the ghost still visited. The biggest problem was how to get Jenny out of bed since she stayed there constantly, waiting for her ghostly lover. Her mother, Olive, tried to get in on the action by sleeping in Jenny’s bed for a week but the ghost never showed up for her. Olive had asked the local vicar what he thought about the visits, if they were immoral. The vicar replied that ghosts probably weren’t bothered with morals so it was alright.

Yes, ghosts are out there. If you thought that you would never be able to see a ghost or hear one, you are not alone. For some reason many religions, cultures and people forbid the use of Ouija boards, witchcraft and investigating the occult.

How to hear a ghost?

For many years, paranormal investigators and paranormal researchers have been recording voices. They call it EVP or the electronic voice phenomena. For some reason voices and weird sounds have been captured. The voices recorded cannot be heard when paranormal researchers are recording them until they play the tape back, which is why despite the evidence millions of people don’t believe in ghosts—paranormal researchers could fabricate these voices to make us believe that in fact these voices are coming from the other side. But if you really want to hear a ghost, you should get a portable cassette tape and go around your house. Sometimes is better to find things on your own if you really want to prove something. Don’t forget to use new tapes when you are recording and always make sure that nobody is making noises or talking while you are experimenting with EVP—you want to make sure that what you are getting is paranormal related.

Once you are ready to record, introduce yourself. For example: “I am Amy. I am in my living room. Is anybody here with us? The more EVP sessions you conduct the better. We can build a relationship with ghosts. I know for some it sounds stupid, but you have to believe it or else the mind can’t see it. If you don’t believe in ghosts, I suggest you to stay away from the subject. If you are afraid of ghosts, you shouldn’t be. Ghosts can’t harm humans; only the living can harm us.

How to see a ghost? Well, as far as seeing one, don’t be surprised if you never see one. Most of us will never see a ghost in our entire lives, but that doesn’t mean spirits/ghosts are not real. Here is a very interesting interview with Fox news about EVP research:

About ghost.

Anthropological context
Further information: Animism, Ancestor praise, Source of belief, and Anthropology of religion

A view of the transcendent, artificial or numinous, usually including agencies like mood, devils or deities, is a social worldwide.[17] In pre-literate persons belief systems, these values are often defined under animism and ancestor praise.[18]

In many societies dangerous, unsettled mood are recognized from the more harmless mood involved in ancestor praise.[19]

Ancestor praise generally includes rituals designed to prevent revenants, vengeful mood of the dead, thought as starving and jealous of the living. Techniques for avoiding revenants may either include compromise, i.e., giving the dead refreshments to pacify them, or wonderful banishment of the dead to power them not to return. Practice providing of the dead is conducted in traditions like the China Spider Celebration or the European All Souls’ Day. Mysterious banishment of the dead is existing in many of the funeral traditions. The systems found in many tumuli (kurgan) had been ritually limited before funeral,[20] and the customized of joining the dead continues, for example, in non-urban Anatolia.[21]

Nineteenth-century anthropologist Wayne Frazer mentioned in his traditional work, The Fantastic Bough, that mood were seen as the being within that cartoon the entire human body.[22]
Ghosts and the afterlife
Further information: Heart (spirit), Mind (psychology), Underworld, Hungry ghost, and Psychopomp
Further information: Spider Celebration, All Souls’ Day, Day of the Dead, and Spider Dance

Although the human soul was sometimes symbolically or basically portrayed in historical societies as a chicken or other pet, it seems to have been commonly organised that the soul was an actual imitation of the entire human body in every feature, even down to outfits the individual dressed in. This is portrayed in art work from various historical societies, such as such works as the Cotton Book of the Dead, which reveals dead people in the afterlife showing much as they did before loss of life, such as the style of dress.
Fear of ghosts
Main article: Worry of ghosts

While dead forefathers are globally considered as revered, and often thought as having a ongoing existence in some sort of afterlife, the soul of a dead individual which continues to be existing in the material world (viz. a ghost) is considered as an artificial or unwanted situation and the idea of mood or revenants is associated with a result of fear. This is globally the case in pre-modern persons societies, but concern with ghost also continues to be the key element of the contemporary ghost tale, Medieval scary and other scary stories interacting with the artificial.

Everything goes haywire when a family is pestered by a youthful, mischievous ghost.

Joey Simmons approached the front door of the one floor house he lived in. He took the key out of his pants pocket and opened the door. He heard someone whispering. It sounded like it came from the kitchen.

“Mom, is that you?” Joey entered the kitchen. The whispering ceased. He opened the pantry door and peeked inside. “Anyone here?”

Joey walked back through the kitchen. “I must be hearing things.”

After his bedroom, he took off and opened his backpack, took out his textbooks, a pad and a pen. He threw the backpack on the bed. He would rather play games but he knew his mom’s first question.

“Joey,” Mom opened the front door. “Doing your homework?”

“Yeah, mom.” Joey looked for his backpack. He was sure he put it on the bed.

“Joey. Come get your backpack and don’t leave it on the kitchen table again. This is the last time I’m telling you!”

“I didn’t leave it on the table.”

“Don’t lie to me!”

“Honest! I didn’t!” Joey came into the kitchen, picked up his backpack and entered the bedroom. “Where are my textbooks? I left them here.”

“Stop playing games.” Mom entered the room and handed him his textbooks.

“Where were they?”

“In the kitchen.” She looked at the floor. “And there is your pad and pen! Now stop this nonsense.”

“It’s not nonsense. Someone was in here..”

“What?”

“I heard voices when I came home.”

“Really?”

“Yes, really. And all my stuff got moved around.”

“Joey, no one is here. The only one who could have moved your stuff was you.”

They both heard whispering. Mom looked around. “What was that?”

“See? Told you.”

” Better leave now. I’m calling the police.” Mom reached for the phone. She gasped as the phone was lifted up in the air and flung across the room. ”Go away!”

Joey backed up until he was leaning against the wall.

Mom screamed as a kitchen chair came flying into the room and froze in mid air inches from her face. She ran to Joey and held him in her arms. “Go away! Leave us alone!”

The chair flew back into the kitchen. All the kitchen chairs were up in the air circling around the table.

Mom was petrified. ”Go away! Leave us alone!”

“Go away isn’t working.” Joey was hugging his mom tight as he could. “Don’t make it angry.”

They heard a door open.

Joey recognized the sound because it was the only door with squeaky hinges. “That’s the cellar door.”

A silhouette of a small boy momentarily appeared in the cellar doorway.

Mom was not moving.

“Mom, It wants us to go down the cellar.”

They stayed there for thirty minutes.

The small boy appeared again by the cellar door and held his arm out with his finger pointing down the cellar. Then the small boy disappeared.

All the chairs that had been floating around the table were now gently floating down the cellar stairs.

Mom still did not move.

“Mom, we’d better go down the cellar and find out what it wants.”

The small boy appeared for a third time.

“Mom, he doesn’t look happy.”

The table rose in the air and then dropped back down to the floor creating a sharp noise.

The small boy pointed at mom and Joey and then with a rough jerky motion of his arm pointed down the cellar.

Mom’s eyes were glassy. “Go away. Please go away. Leave us alone.” She repeated over and over again.

Suddenly, mom and Joey were no longer on the floor. They were several inches above the floor gently drifting toward the cellar door. Mom started screaming incessantly.

After they reached the bottom of the cellar stairs, they were gently lowered to the cement floor.

Then the small boy appeared again. He repeatedly sunk completely into the floor and rose back up. After doing this for one minute, the small boy disappeared.

For a long while, mom could not convince the police that the remains a dead boy was buried in the cellar. During this time the small boy did not bother her except for the occasional toothbrush or sponge hovering in mid air.

Joey wanted to communicate with the small boy, but for very different reasons then mom. Joey was hoping to play with the small boy. That hope never came through.

The small boy would pull childish tricks on Joey. All was done in fun and in good humor. One day Joey found his baseball going up and down like someone was playing catch with himself.

The real breakthrough came one Saturday evening. Joey left his pad and pen on the kitchen table after completing his homework. When Joey returned to the kitchen he found a picture of a cemetery on the pad. The picture looked like it was drawn by a seven year old. It showed a gravestone. Behind the gravestone was a street and across the street was a church.

Mom recognized the picture, went to the cemetery and found the stone marked with the name of a man who died ten years ago. She wondered why the small boy wanted them to see this stone. She jotted down the name of the deceased person and then went to the library. She accessed a computer and searched for the last name of the deceased. Up popped an article about a missing boy with the same last name.

When the small boy was young, he was often taken to that cemetery to visit the grave of his dead grandfather.

A few days later, several men came over the house to break up the cement cellar floor. They found a the skeleton of a small boy buried below the cement. This led to the arrest of the previous owner of the house Joey and his mom lived in.

A new stone was placed in the cemetery right beside the stone of the small boy’s dead grandfather. On that stone the name, Timmy Linden, was etched. He had died at the age of seven.

Here are two most haunted, of the haunted hotels found across the United States.

Throughout the years these hotels have developed ghostly reputations concerning that of unrequited love, misery, and murder.

Hotel Del Coronado

The first stop in this haunted hotel tour is Hotel Del Coronado. Located just outside of San Diego, this hotel is known for its ghostly tale of unreturned love. Both employees and guests have been puzzled by strange noises, breezes, strange faces and a ghostly figure of a lady in a black lace dress.

As legend goes; the spirit that haunts Hotel Del Coronado is that of late Kate Morgan. In 1892 she had checked into this hotel in order to meet her estranged husband. For days she waited, but he never showed up. She was found dead on the beach from a gunshot wound. It’s believed that her lonely spirit remains in the hotel. Morgan’s room, 3502, is the most haunted room throughout the hotel, as paranormal experts found well over 30 abnormalities in one day.

Carolina Inn

The hauntings within this Inn are not localized to a particular room or floor. Indeed the second floor has more paranormal action, but hauntings are seen or experienced throughout the building. Some guests experienced a man following them and when they turn to face him, he disappears. Other incidences the staff and guests have noticed a larger, heavy set man wearing a black suit, a knit hat, a blue parker style coat, wandering the halls checking for an open door. The ghost moves up and down the halls from room to room, jiggling the door handles trying to get in. Daily, the staff and guests report this strange occurrence. Some guests even opened the door and as they did, they saw him flee. When the staff investigated the issues, they are unable to find anyone in the hotel matching the description.

An amateur ghost hunter even witnessed a bloody hand crawling under the bed sheets. There have been many paranormal investigations at this hotel, documenting extraordinary things. There seems to be around 20 ghosts that haunt this inn. They have documented many sounds such as words being softly spoken, piano notes, and orb-like objects floating about.

One of the ghosts is believed to be Dr. William Jacocks. He lived at the Inn for over 20 years. Those who stay in his room on the 2nd floor find themselves often locked out. There have been times that the door would not open so the staff had to remove it from the hinges.

I have never believed any of the stories people tell about ghosts that appear in the school where I once studied and later on taught for years.

Stories have it that the land on which the school stands used to be a burial ground for people who died during the second world war. Those who used to live in the school dormitory narrated of incidents of headless nuns floating in mid-air or of the showers running when no one was in there, etc. I had heard too many of these stories that I felt like they were just products of the imagination. After all, the school is a very religious school run by nuns and I have never experienced first hand anything that would make me believe those stories. I studied in the school for many years and became a teacher there for even more years. Nothing. However, for some reason I decided to stop teaching in order to pursue another field which I’d been doing for the past five years already. Two Saturdays ago, I visited the school to get some documents. It was around 9 o’clock in the morning and I actually doubted if the office was open since the staff just arrived from their field trip a day before. While I was walking towards the office I saw a lady, obviously a college student, sitting on one of the lined chairs outside of the office. She was the only one seated there so I thought she must be waiting for the office to open. As I was approaching the place, I found out that the lady was no longer there. I looked everywhere, but could not find anyone around. If she had walked away, I could have seen her, but she just disappeared in a blink. I swear, I really saw that lady sitting all alone there. She had shoulder-length hair and was sitting on one of the empty seats. Have I just seen a ghost?

Given the fact that some locations are haunted; some people refuse to believe in ghosts. But how do you explain that your digital recorder had new batteries and every time you walked into a haunted location, your batteries would completely drain?

The non-believers think that you just happen to have bad batteries, but you know that you replaced them several times during your investigation. While you remain outside the haunted location, your recorder works well, and the second you went back to the haunted location, the batteries are dead. Once again, there are many reasonable explanations for battery drainage, but we can’t deny the fact that something beyond this world is out there.

Another explanation why people like to look for ghosts is that some events that took place while you were in a room have no explanation. For example, you are in a room where a lot of people reported different feelings and they have seen something. There were a couple of people inside my grandmother’s room, and a close friend of my grandmother was standing by the window, and all of the sudden he felt like something was scratching his leg, but no none was there with him, not even a dog. He had no marks, his leg was fine, but he believes that something or someone was there inside that room with him.

Later my mother confessed that her dog died when she was nine years old in that room. Once again, how can any person come up with a reasonable explanation for this strange event?

Now, we could spend the rest of the evening trying to find a reasonable explanation, but we both know that the afterlife is full of questions—and what happens after our heart stops beating is unknown.

People want to know the answers to the questions, why? Why some people experience some form of paranormal activity, while others never will. Why some activity takes place in a certain place? People waste their time looking for ghosts because they want an explanation, for them there’s something beyond this world, but we are too blind to see it, or maybe we just don’t want to believe in it.

This is a short but informative passage about how to get inside Dr. Halsey's lab in The Package.

You’ll need two players for this and you MUST play on Legendary. Skip to Rally Point Bravo on The Package. Play the level until Dr. Halsey announces her lab is open. Do not enter the lab or access the panel on the door to end the mission. If you don’t have a Jet Pack, grab one from the northern side of the lab entrance area. They are on the wall without any flashy Armor Ability holograms so they are a bit hard to spot.
One player must stay in a safe spot while the other accesses a secret panel. Fly to the far eastern line of buildings. Run up the ramp and turn left, or north. A fenced off area on the upper level lines the out-of-bounds region to the northeast. Drop off the northeastern corner and ease your way towards the rocky out-of-bounds area below but do not touch it! Hover above it and look for a panel with a green light you can access on a girder. Hit X to activate it.
This will open a door on the north side of the Halsey’s lab entrance. A half dozen Elites will stream out of here with Energy Swords. Fly over them or run a Ghost through them and enter the open door. You will then be transported to a hallway. Follow the hallway to the lab area where you can view a number of Easter Eggs, from readable data panels with inside jokes to old Halo art. Enjoy!

Today, exactly 100 years ago, at around 02:20 local time, the passenger ship RMS Titanic maiden voyage end. Not at his destination in New York, United States, but in the bottom of the north Atlantic Ocean, about 4 kilometers below sea level.

However, what should be the end, it is just the beginning. Titanic became the beginning of the end of the trip one of the greatest legends in human history, sparking curiosity and endless imagination.

What actually happens? Exactly how the giant ship sinking? Why are so many victims? What kind of mood the last seconds before the ship was swallowed by eternal darkness?

Titanic legend one of the triggers is the irony that includes a variety of boat trips. With a length of 269 meters and 28.19 meters wide, Titanic is the object of the largest moving man-made, sophisticated, and luxurious era.

Once the perfect image of the Titanic in that period so that it appears the legendary phrase, “even God would not be able to make it sink.” However, until now never be known exactly who spoke the words.

In fact, the ship sank on the inaugural voyage. In the middle of the night sky studded with bright stars and the distant sea calm, strong steel hull ship was torn along the 90 meters after crashing into things that we always take for granted in everyday life: the ice.

With all the sophistication of communications technology and safety procedures that he has the time, still, 1514 people died.

The author Hampton Sides writes in the magazine April 2012 issue of National Geographic, not only thousands of lives that vanished with the Titanic, but also the illusion of regularity of life and hope for the future of the all the wonderful advances in technology.

“Titanic disaster was the outbreak of a bubble. At the beginning of the 20th century, there is a sense of the world is abundant with all the gifts of technology. Elevators, automobiles, aircraft, radio communications. Everything was so wonderful, then suddenly all the mess, “said James Cameron, director of fiction films Titanic (1997), who led several scientific expeditions to the wreck penyelamanan Titanic at the bottom of the Atlantic.

Continue to seek

Until a century later, people have not stopped talking about the Titanic. More than just empty talk at the corner coffee shop, people are even still devote thought, energy, and great expense to re-examine every detail of the tragedy. Then came the “suspects” that might be to blame for the tragedy.

In March, a team of physicists and astronomers from Texas State University claim to have found evidence that in the early months of 1912 was at the point closest to the Earth in the last 1,400 years. Configuring the position of the Moon and the Sun cause their gravitational force is stronger than usual.

As a result, the tide is higher and much more interested icebergs south of the position should be in the north Atlantic, including the Titanic cruise lines.

David Olson, a physicist who leads a team of forensic astronomy, said outside the prevalence of the condition was not known to Captain Edward Smith of the Titanic, so he ignored more than 30 warnings about icebergs.

Smith may have never believed the iceberg would be right in front of the ship so that running the ship at speeds of 21 knots (39 kilometers per hour).

One episode of Seconds from Disaster on National Geographic Channel tells the forensic investigation of a commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Unit (USCG) to the Titanic tragedy. One conclusion of the investigation, nails, rivets which unite the steel skin of the Titanic was experiencing manufacturing defects. Therefore, during the collision with a giant iceberg, the nails fall out and ripped the Titanic hull.

One more new theory comes from the team Maltin, historian who has written three books about the Titanic. Based on reports from other ships that crossed the Titanic cruise lines, Maltin says there is a strange phenomenon of the mirage effect of air so that the difficulties the crew spotted the iceberg at sea.

According to Maltin, the air near the surface of the Atlantic ocean when it is cooler so the air has a density greater than the air layer above it. This causes light rays to turn, and causes a mirage.

However, according to Lee Clarke, a disaster expert from Rutgers University, blamed the Moon’s gravity and the mirage as the cause of the sinking Titanic clearly misguided. “The basic fact is incontrovertible is the ship of the Titanic was going too fast in dangerous waters,” said Clarke.

About an hour before it hit the iceberg, the Titanic received a warning from the steamer Californian who was near that of the iceberg so much that night. Radio message from the Californian says, “We stopped and surrounded with ice.” The message is replied to the Titanic with the phrase, “Shut up, we’re busy.”

I wish that night as did the Titanic stop Californian, continued Clarke, tidal conditions and the mirage will not affect anything.

Thus, investigation, discussion, debate, and chat about the Titanic might never be finished anytime soon. The tragedy was so compelling imagination and sparked the curiosity of people who might never be satisfied.

Borrow a phrase from Seth Borenstein, Associated Press science writer, the tragedy of the Titanic is more than just news, but it is a form of entertainment in a tragic and horrible.

Kevin Rozario, professor of American Studies at Smith College, said people are always interested in stories about the disaster. Because the disaster actually reflect a fear that we often ignore in everyday life. “When disaster struck, we see ourselves in the story,” said Rozario.
