Everyone has a job to do, whether it’s in their office or other working premises or whether it’s in their house. Everyone sets up their daily routine so as to pass their monotonous working hours with a little bit of ease, if possible. But it doesn’t always happen. Our daily lives doesn’t flow along smoothly, there are ups and downs, and sudden flaws along the flow.

So what everyone does is to wait desperately for the weekend to begin. And then, it’s kind of a “party time” attitude in everyone’s mind. But some awkward things I’ve seen over the years that caused me share my views with you guys. First thing most do, is alter their daily routine at weekends by getting up late from the bed. Having a not so healthy breakfast, altering their eating times, like having late breakfast and lunch or a brunch, this hampers the state of health. Did we forget what we were taught at school for the elementary science classes? “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.”

Now let’s see what I’m really trying to say here, when we were young, I bet most of us came across the nursery rhyme,

“Early to bed and early to rise

Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”

There is a traditional system that has been set up, which shows people getting up 8-9:00 AM in the morning when they usually do at 5-6:00 AM. It doesn’t matter which part of the world I’m talking about, but you know from your heart that it’s true for the people in every country. ‘Who cares? It’s holiday, no work, no prayers, let’s sleep first.’ This sudden change in daily routine has a huge impact in our lives even though some people are recklessly neglecting it. Does anyone know that even half an hour of excess slumber can turn into 24 hours of misery for us? I’ve seen people pulling a muscle due to excess sleeping, painful backs, drowsy swollen eyes and many more health issues. I know some might disagree with me on the fact that they work all week and need to sleep an excess of 2 hours or so every weekend mornings, I could just advise them to do so after lunch. Come on, please take a nap, and that too, not for long….and to add a little more, to start walking or any type of exercising right after a meal (whether heavy or light) isn’t a good idea. Getting up early in the morning is a must; it keeps you fresh, watching the sunrise gives you a celestial feeling, like God blessing us with both his hands in the form of light. And most importantly, it keeps your head fresh and cool, making you ready for the upcoming hours.

And keeping aside the extra sleeping factor, I don’t know of many families that go on an outing in their weekends, and even if they do, there aren’t many varieties in the locations that they visit. Same old park, or garden or a coffee shop or so. Just like eating the same food tastes boring, the same taste for travelling sites would make your vacation quite boring. Unless you’re a one place addicted man, haha.

There is a medical fact that tells us to eat many times a day, but in small quantities, and not to involve in heavy meals, if possible, because it takes away some of the body strength for digestion to occur and the body becomes a bit, well, weak. I’ve seen people eat 5-6 heavy meals at the time of their vacation or weekend, when I asked, to my astonishment, they replied, “Let it be sir, we don’t get to enjoy the food every day, we’re in a rush most of the time. You can have some too, come on.” I mean give me a break; we’re not enjoying an episode of Man versus Food here. How stupid can it get? While giving the same answer to all the others who asked them about it, they forgot that for this indulgent habit of excessive diet at weekends, they become the victim of cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart attacks and who knows how many more countless number of life threatening diseases in their later lives. The older ones are among these people too, who are eating oily foods, putting aside the natural oils found in food, like vegetable oil, fish oil, etc. I have seen many American people that put their money on burger, fries and other oily stuff as they rush to their workplaces. Taking no care of what they are eating and when they are eating, they’re becoming a candidate to be the victim for different diseases in the future.

This article wasn’t written to offend people by putting their odd habits in front of them, but rather my effort was to bring some light of right into the world of wrong which we all are living in. I guess the readers forgive me if they have any negative views about the article.

Sometimes, all we need is faith.

When darkness turns upon us, and life seem full of disappointments. We wonder where we would go in life, what we should do, and what path to take. Being mentally at lost, stressed and unhappy settles into our mind and lives, disstracting us from our everyday life and routine.

But it gets worse, when we do not have faith. When we do not belief that anything good can come our way, then everything is impossible, and when impossible sets in, nothing seem to change anymore.

It does no harm to have faith once in awhile, and it doesn’t kill to belief that things could be better. When a person has faith, their mind is conscious of what could and might be. The mind will not drag a person’s day and night down, you’d wake up feeling a sense of meaning in life, and go to bed peacefully. If you have a religion, then pray to your God to help you get through what you are going through. Because although we are physically alone in to fight this world alone, with faith, God is always with us to get through everything.

If you do not have a religion or belief in a God, then just belief that life cannot possible stay bad forever, what goes down, must come up. And like a graph in a chart, up and down is the part and parcel of life. If you can’t see it that way, then perhaps pick a religion and start believing. Does it kill to belief that there is a God watching over us? And if you say if there is a God, then why is the world the way it is? Well, God has forsaken the world, for this is a sinful, cheating world, but he has not forsaken the people of the world who live in it. And if you intend to question the work of the Lord, and ask him to give you a better life, then understand this, “do not put God to the test”.

Either way, life go round in circles, and a bad trip even if it seems to last forever will eventually get better. Also look at the reflection of your life, and analyze if there is perhaps something you are doing wrong, or what could be happening to you may be karma biting you in the ass.

In the eyes of a believer.

I have never been so stressed out in my whole life as I am now. My faith is definitely being put to the test at its maximum. Everywhere I look, it’s as though things are against me. I just realized, everything that’s happening to me now are taking me farther from my planned destination. It’s as if an invisible hand is pulling me away from the path that I intend to take. I don’t understand why I have to experience all these delays and rerouting. Sometimes I question God. Is there anything wrong with my plans? Am I going against Your will? Am I hurting anyone?

I have always been an obedient and patient child. As much as I can, I treat people with kindness and respect. But then as they say, bad things happen to good people.

So now I’ve got no choice but to hold on to my faith as tight as I could. Keep on believing that everything will be alright. All is well, all is well.

To help myself get through this, I compiled a few sayings about faith which I hope can also give hope to those who feel like they are so messed up with life they want to give up. May you find hope in every situation you encounter no matter how tough.

Faith is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted in spite of your changing moods. — C.S. Lewis

The way to see by Faith is to shut the Eye of Reason. —Benjamin Franklin

Faith is like radar that sees through the fog. — Corrie Ten Boom

Faith is a passionate intuition. —William Wordsworth

Faith: belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel. — Ambrose Bierce

Faith is not something to grasp, it is a state to grow into. —Mahatma Gandhi

Faith is a knowledge within the heart, beyond the reach of proof. —Khalil Gibran

Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe. —Voltaire

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.—Hebrews 11:1

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. — Ephesians 6:16

Pornography=Objectification.

The human body was designed as a creation of beauty, but pornography corrupts that beauty. I do not endorse pornography in art, because pornography (of any form) is exploitative in nature. What do I mean? It takes the beauty of the human body and perverts and twists it until the person is viewed as nothing more than an object.

Humanity is made in the image of God, therefore, turning the human body into an object of lust is just plain wrong.

I encourage people to respect themselves enough NOT to exploit themselves. We are designed for higher things, we are the Crown of God’s creation, and in all things should honor Him.

If you are an artist, I encourage you to use your art in a holy, wholesome, and productive way, not to indulge the lustful cravings of the flesh.

Are you dissatisfied with life?

Are we dissatisfied with life? I remember graduation from eighth grade and having all these big plans what I was going to do with life. I was going to be this famous model and write a book about the exciting life that I was going to live. In my eighth grade, I stood about six feet two and weigh about one hundred seventy five pounds.

No way was this lady going to be a model, so I settled for second best. I never tried to lose weight and go to college to become a famous model. Never had the drive inside myself to do that with myself and, so my dreams were pushed into the background.

Was I dissatisfied with life? I never really thought about it until recently. We had the usual married life with three children and money problems up to the hill. Did I try to improve our situation or did I just sit there and complained? You guessed it; I sat there and took whatever life had to hand to me.

This was not much because I have had five or six different jobs and there was something wrong with each one. I complained that I was bored doing them, never got enough money, and never like the work since it was, so hard to do.

I loved the man I married and we had several arguments before he passed away in 1996 of diabetics. I was left as a single mothers with three children and I was scared to death of being alone and responsible for three children. They are grown now and they still live with me or should I say we all live together in one side of a duplex.

What did I want out of life? I wanted a man to take care of me and friends to have in my life, so that I could share my life with them. I could share my life with them and they could share their life with me. You know friends always have your back.

I am dissatisfied that I never did what God wanted me to do with my life and that was to be a famous writer. God had plans for me to write books that would stir people in his direction and they would start to follow His Way of life.

Is it too late for me to start? I am still breathing, so I am going to write a book about love and lies that turn this one little lady into following God. She did something with her life when she became dissatisfied with her life. She changed her life for the better and she started to live the life that God had planned for her.

Are you dissatisfied with your life? Are you going to change your life or leave it like it is? Are you going to follow God’s Way for your life?

How can we honor those who give their lives so we can live in freedom? How do we remember those we love who have gone before us? Life is full of twists and turns and unimagined possibilities. The dreams we dream sometimes come true and those we love live instead of being left behind on a foreign field or otherwise leave us behind. The best way we can honor those who don’t come back is to live life fully and with relish.

That sounds good, but how can we bring it about? Waking up each day with the attitude to take whatever comes during the day and make the best of it is a start. There is a teaching of Jesus in Matthew where he says, “Do not worry about the things of tomorrow, today has worries enough of its own.” Understanding what is meant goes a long way in helping us to live well. If we can begin to live each moment as it comes and deal with it, anxiety is less likely to plague us. When we engage in worry, the things we worry about are generally in the future and that is something we can do nothing about.

Living well and happily is the best way to prove that the sacrifice of lives that allow us to live this way is not in vain.

We all live and abide by rules in order to keep peace, but when and how were these rules truly formed?

By Gianni Galioto

‘What makes an issue ethical?’ Most young readers would not be able to answer this question. But before answering this question, a better question is ‘what is ethical?’ Ethics is a set of unwritten rules of moral behaviour and values within communities. This means that these set of ‘rules’ determine whether you are doing the right thing or the wrong thing. An ethical issue is an issue where there is conflict on what a certain person or organization is doing. The actions of the person or organization are evaluated as either right (ethical) or wrong (unethical). There are multiple approaches to avoid all conflict so that no issue arises. A main consideration is Utilitarianism in which you consider the usefulness of a decision before making it so that it pleases most others. In other words, think before you act. When wanting to seek revenge on someone, it is best to think before you act before something worse happens. An ethical approach would be to forgive the person.

Subjectivism is also a key factor in avoiding conflict, but can also be brought out incorrectly depending on the person’s thoughts. Subjectivism is deciding by your own self-esteem and for yourself, through your own experiences, whether your actions are right or wrong. Deciding for yourself can sometimes be an incorrect decision because some people are unable to tell right from wrong due to their own experiences in life. An example of correct usage of subjectivism would be a person seeing a fight and stopping it rather than cheering it on with other bystanders. Situational ethics is making a decision in terms of the situation. With this approach, the actions seem unethical but the situation that they are placed in makes it ethical. For example, Breaking a window, to escape a fire or assaulting a stranger, in self defence. Without the specified situations, the actions are deemed unethical. A problem with relativism is that it asserts each person has the right to choose what is right or wrong that they can’t adopt themselves.

Relativism is a person’s ‘truth’ which is actually a belief. An example of relativism is hitting a person back because you believe it is the right thing to do. The opposite of relativism is Natural Law in which we believe that every person has an innate behaviour and are born a raised with a correct understanding of human morals. The Catholic Church believes that the Natural Law was adopted from the 10 commandments and without the Commandments, there would be no innate behaviour of ethics because there would be no guide for the first few people to live. The Catholic Church also believes that the ‘innate’ understanding of ethics is God’s creation. In my opinion, I believe that natural law is correct and that we are all born with some understanding of ethical and unethical situations but sometimes it can be personal experiences that make up your mind.

In a pluralist society, it would be complex to make ethical decisions because the society is diverse and what seems normal to some could be very different to others. A pluralistic society is a society which the community are able to legally choose their own ethical views and what ethical beliefs, if any, they wish to hold. It is similar to relativism in a sense that people are able to have their own ethical views but it is different in a sense that the society is allowed to have their own ethical views and few/no laws stopping them. The complexity of this would be that there would be little to no restriction to most people and it could potentially create chaos and possibly continue to the extinction of the human race. An example of this would be choosing to be homosexual rather than heterosexual; the human race would die out in one generation. In a religious point of view, every person has the choice of which religion they wish to believe in and the ethical views that come with it. It would be complex to make ethical decisions because there would be no correct right or wrong, only an opinion of every single person in the society. Although it seems like freedom, the world needs boundaries to survive. To some people murder would be seem as unethical but to others it could possibly be seen as ethical. Seeing murder as ethical is wrong in our society, but in a pluralistic society where everyone has their own choice, the people can choose to think that it is right. Within a Pluralistic society, human rights, responsibilities of individuals and groups of society would be different for nearly every person and wouldn’t even be considered with the same importance that it has today. If there was to be a Pluralist Society, the matter of life or death would be put into the hands of every human being.

The 10 Commandments started of as basic rules for relating to God and to others, but it has gained a greater importance throughout the years. Most of the rules within the 10 Commandments are used for human rights rules and approaches to ethical decision making. It is possible to say that the human race would have eventually arrived at these rules after some time, but with the influence of the 10 Commandments, it sped up the process. I do believe that we would have arrived to the rules eventually to create peace and harmony without the 10 Commandments (even though it would take longer). The 10 Commandments were first created to ‘obey’ God and to keep his creations safe. Most people believed in God and therefore followed the ‘rules’. But the people that didn’t believe in God, they still followed the ‘rules’ because they deemed it to be ethical. If they did not believe in God, why did they still follow ‘God’s rules’? It is because they already had an understanding of peace but had not perfected on how to bring it out, and still in our society today, we still don’t have a solution on how to create ‘world peace’. To create these rules, it would take time and experience throughout your life but it is fair enough to say that the 10 Commandments did help out in solving bits and pieces.

Loads of people engage in to job below supervision. In for the most situations an employee does not choose his or her boss, unless a supervisor is elected. In the subsequent paragraphs I will list the most valuable qualities of my “ideal boss”.

The principal of all, he ought to be impartial. I believe that it is very important to cause a technical decision, think almost somebody’s promotion, etc. For instance, my companion is a supervisor on a dairy mill. It is his family’s business so a lot of his relatives work there. But he has by no means promoted someone for the reason that he or she is his family. I mull over it is a good quality for a boss.

Be with of all, my “ideal boss” have to be honest, patient and attentive. He be supposed to pay attention to people’s feelings, hearten them by ever-increasing their salary, listen to their suggestions in the region of humanizing labor conditions and productivity. For instance, if he does not assure with the findings he be supposed to understand the cause of the power and make clear people how to fix it. In addition, he requirement get how to resolve conflicts that can take place among employees.

Another foremost quality of a boss is the capability to take the right decisions and to learn on somebody’s mistakes.

Finally, I feel a sound boss must value his or her employees for the reason that the profit in a straight line depends on the people who come off there.

I reason a worthy boss should be adept to finish he dwell in enjoy the exertion they are responsible and hearten their diligence.

Some things may appear like routine works that don’t need much thinking.

God may want us all to be in his flock but He isn’t a puppeteer and He doesn’t want us to be puppets. This is the gift of freewill, the freedom to make choices, the freedom that we always abuse.

I once talked to an old guy on the street. He was an acquaintance. With my incapacity to sugarcoat his situation, making it sound a little less brutal, I could say his life is broke. “I am very unfortunate! God, made fun of my life,” he said. If I were too harsh to be too frank with him at the moment, I would have told him “you are so wrong, sir!” I could do that. I just chose not to. It would be unhealthy for both of us. And I simply couldn’t bear the guilt of making him feel worse.

His wife and children left him. The temptation, according to him, is so strong that he couldn’t be faithful to his wife. He had my sympathy but inside my mind, I was rationalizing things over the principles that I believe in. Temptation, no matter how strong has no power over us. It is us, who decided to give in to it. The reason temptation appears very strong, is its ecstatic effect on us. And it is simply hard to say no on things that we fancy or things that make us feel immensely pleased even just for a moment. Ice cream for me is very irresistible. It is so strong that once I start eating a scoop of ice cream from the fridge, I sometimes end up eating almost half a gallon. It happens not because the ice cream possesses some kind of power to control over me, but because I chose to give in to the pleasure of eating ice cream. Even the biggest form of temptation, like sex and infidelity, come in somewhat similar packaging.

Life as a whole is governed by the different choices we make. Everything we do, even the moment we wake up, we are faced with decision-making situations. Some things may appear like routine works that don’t need much thinking, but whether we are aware of it or not, everything is subjected to making a particular choice. Should I pray or not? Should I fix my bed or postpone it or let someone do it? Should I brush my teeth first before peeing or the other way around? Should I take a bath or not? Should I wear this or that? Should I eat this or that? Whatever we do, it is part of the decision we make. No one can stop anyone from doing anything because that is everyone’s freewill. Knowing that everything is a choice, why can’t we simply choose the right ones?
