Randy sat at his desk and finished the work he was doing.  He looked at the clock, it was 5:30.  He had in ten and a half hours today.  This would be the end of his usual day from now on.  He looked in the top drawer, picked up a couple of tapes and CD’s, his tape player, the headphones markers and pens.  Everything else could stay.  He pulled one folder from the lower drawer. These were his legal defense papers.  If he were called to task for some mistakes that were made these were the documents that would state that he had acted prudently and issued a proper warning.  These would go home.  In the bottom of the drawer he had a set of silverware and some dried soup, these when into the briefcase along with his coffee cup.  Sue came by as he pulled a couple of personal manuals from the bin above the desk. 

“What are you doing?”

“Cleaning up.”

He put a floppy disk in the computer and copied his mail folder and address book to it. 

“Why now?”

“Because I’m out of here, probably over the weekend.  I can feel it. I might as well get ready now.”

“How can you be so sure?”

Several other files were copied from the computer to two other disks.  He dropped them into his briefcase.

“I can feel it.  And you might as well do the same, you’re going too.”

She shuddered.  If Randy was right, she would be leaving her husband and son.  Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at him.  “I don’t want to admit it but I really know you are right.” 

Sandi came up behind her, “What’s up?”

“Randy says he and I aren’t going to be here long.”

“Are you sure?”

Before Randy could answer Sue piped up, “He has been right about everything else, he even timed this to the week.  Why should he be wrong now?”

Before Sandi could process the information, Randy turned to her.  “You better get ready too.  You’re going with us.  I doubt if we will see each other here next week.”

Sandi turned without comment and returned to her desk.  She half-heartedly cleaned up things, surely Randy was wrong.

When Randy arrived at home he sat down with his wife, Diane.  They made a list of things that must be done if he were relocated.  They copied the document and his cards.  He gave her the one copy of the Army Post ID Card, she might need it.  They began the process of getting ready for him to leave.  She wanted it not to be but she very well knew it was inevitable.  They spent the evening with some shopping and spent time together.  Saturday morning they did some things around the house, she washed all of his clothing and they spent the remainder of the day together with their family.  He checked everything around the house, changed some light bulbs and told her the oil in the car needed changed in the next week.  Late in the evening Randy admitted that he could be wrong about being called.  He had expected it on Saturday afternoon.  He unsubscribed from two lists on the INTERNET before going to bed.
