A Wake Up Call to Indian Doctors and the Society at Large.

Once there was a man walking on a beach full of millions of starfish that had been carried to the shore
By the tides…and he was picking them up
One by one and throwing them back in water…
A passerby saw him and laughed…
THERE ARE MILLIONS! You can’t save them all you idiot…!
” Well atleast I have made a DIFFERENCE to the lives of a few.

From this we can say there are two types of people in the society. One type which works for the benefit of the society and the other type which doesn’t benefit the society in anyway. The second type of people are the ones who are blinded by greed and will do anything for their selfish motives. The extent of their greed makes them do the worst of the worst. They end up killing for a living. You may wonder who I am pointing out at. Well I am critcizing all the doctors in my country, India who follow the policy of gender determination and female foeticide. Millions of girls in our country are kicking at blank walls even before birth. The most shocking fact is that it isn’t the rural doctors who are responsible for this. The doctors responsible for this organised crime are the city bred, well educated and supposedly responsible doctors. Being educated they know that their mother was a girl. Girls are literally the source of life all over the world. That is why the earth or India is referred to as Mother Earth or Bharat Mata respectively. India is the centre of many social customs and religion, is what i agree but those days are gone. We cant say that girls are the weaker sex and they dont deserve any respect. It may be believed that in Indian families a male child is essential for upholding the families name and they are a great help to their aged parents, But the truth is many male children end up settling abroad or even forgetting their parents, The girls are the ones who help their aged parents though they be married or working. For them top priority is family then whatever may come. Being a teenager I may not be able to have much impact by writing a simple article like this but whoever reads this may feel ashamed that a simple 16 year can understand more than people who have lived half a century or more. Well its time to wake up India! The scenario may seem hopeless but there is that ray of hope always lingering somewhere or the other. In Kerala the girls to boys ratio is 1084:1000. Lets take inspiration from this and prevent any further discrimination.

The socialists are at it again. They want nothing more then to tear down anyone who makes the money, and get their stuff for free. Five out of ten don't even know why they are there.

It all started when Nancy Pelosi decided that the Tea Party movement needed a counter part a Nemesis, her own so called grass roots movement so the social gang all came together with the ideal that the rich were the enemy. It is no secret how a sitting President felt about the rich even if that President was rich himself. His plan, was to make everything level. The socialists were taught to think, if all things were even Steven, everyone would be happier for it. The Leaders however, believe by making the rich poor then everyone would be poor and easier to control. These are the same social liberals who bashed George W. Bush for eight years no matter how good or bad he had done. It is just their way.

Pelosi, Obama and others in the elite circle, praise their newly founded artificial grass roots movement. The gang started by protesting the evil Wall Street. How dare Wall Street do what they have done since 1792. The social protesters were taught to believe that Wall Street was the devils that controlled their lives while the real puppeteers of this so called movement were pulling the strings to set their agenda.

May day may day, the squatters are coming. On May first 2012, the Wall Street protesters promised to reek havoc on the fair streets of New York city. Their earlier protests were not peaceful nor non violent. Reports of rapes, deification, and mayhem to local dealers were the aim so it would seem. Today, May First, they promise more of the same at a deeper intensity. They promised to shut down New York City which would be a shameful act with the economy the way it is.

Some would say, this group has a right to express themselves or to speak in a public place, but as always in a no violent manor which doesn’t seem to be in their mindset. For this President to praise this group is a little weird even for him. Obama denounced the peaceful Tea Party movement. His media puppets called the Tea Party racists even though it is a mix of all color. To compare the Peaceful Tea Party to a radical terrorist group is just unjustified, and their must be a deeper reasoning to do so.

It must be all about the rich, those evil doers who have paved out a wave of success for themselves and not caring for those who sit back and want everything handed to them. The Occupy Movement are demanding free things such as free tuition, and free, well everything. This is the mindset that socialists have and they cannot be changed. The Government that head for a socialist agenda, wishes that kind of mindset for if their goals are met, we are indeed all the same as the end result. Teach a man to fish concept will be a non entity. The social government will however give you just enough fish to survive, no more, no less.

Time will tell if the Movement will destroy NYC. The only thing that will come out of this kind of radical activity will be a bowl movement on America. Pelosi and Obama should be bowing their heads, only this time it wont be to a Cinese emperor, but it should be in shame.

This Essay explores the American Dream and the goals in which people take to accomplish it.

The American Dream and the Family

In life, humans attempt to look for a beacon of hope and prosperity to aid them in their quest for fame and power. In such a search, individuals most often turn their attention to the United States, a city upon a hill for the rest of the world. Some of these individuals can only dream of reaching the United States and spontaneously becoming wealthy and famous. Other people, however, who have spent their entire lives in the “Land of Opportunity” would look at this dream of fame and wealth as nothing more than a fool’s dream who has spent his entire life dreaming and not working. These natives of the United States have seen otherwise of such a dream, and realize that the only way to successfully turn this dream into a reality is to work hard. In Tennessee Williams “The Glass Menagerie”, Williams presents 4 unique characters: Tom, Laura, Amanda, and Jim, and uses them to portray the struggle all Americans have with achieving the American Dream. Through the intertwined relationships and actions of these characters, Williams suggests that the American Dream is obtainable but difficult, and in the quest to obtain such power and wealth, family relationships can become detrimental.

Williams early in his play introduces Amanda, a woman with a crippled daughter(Laura), and a husband who has ran off to an unknown destination. Amanda was “fooled” by the very man with whom she believed she could prosper with. By putting herself “at the mercy of a handsome appearance”(William, 46), Amanda entrusts the responsibility of hard work and the achiever of prosperity into the hands of her husband. By doing so she fails to realize that it is her hard work that will lead herself to prosperity not the hard work of others. Later in the novel Amanda does not learn from her previous mistake, and entrusts Laura’s “future husband” to support her. By allowing family relationships to take precedent over her own desire to become wealthy and live a comfortable, Amanda embodies the very outcome that Williams attempts to warn us about. If Amanda was to have rather pursued a comfortable life and then afterward settled down into a family relationship, perhaps she would have ended up in a more successful situation, and not in a slum trying to dig herself out. By attempting to leech off others, Amanda eventually ends up stifling the future of those closest around her.

Tom, Amanda’s son, and the only person to bring money for the family, is forced to put behind his dreams and ambitions so that he can support his family. When Tom attempts to apply for the Merchant Marines his mother confronts him, “I saw that letter you got…I know what your dreaming of….but not until there’s somebody to take your place”(Williams 35). Tom’s obligation to serve his family stands as a detriment to his dreams of going out on his own one day and accomplishing what he wanted in life(he was unsure of what he wanted to accomplish, but he wanted to leave). Williams also introduces a 2nd aspect of Tom by showing that this strained lifestyle due to his family relations cause him to not work his hardest. Only in the end when Tom runs away from his stifled life, “I didn’t go to the moon, I went much further”, is he able to escape from his mother. Tom realizes that the only way to pursue his dreams is to leave his previous life. Although Tom misses Laura and feels sorry for her, he no longer allows that to get in the way between himself and his future. Williams exemplifies this in his use of metaphors, “I didn’t go to the moon. I went much farther”, adds to the idea that a family could become a hindrance to an individuals ultimate goals, and once this realization is made and such a problem is neutralized, not only will the individual succeed as he had dreamed, but he or she will go farther than ever imagined. Williams attempts to bolster this image once again when he introduces another character who is not in the same situation as Tom, Amanda, or Laura

Jim, a down to earth and humble character, ends up with no family ties, and is able to pursue his own future to the fullest. Jim is introduced when he comes over to have dinner with the Wingfields. Jim and his plans for advancement are revealed when it told that Jim is studying “radio engineering and public engineering”(46). Without a family to cling to part of his paycheck, Jim is able to pursue his own desired career paths. Williams shows through Jim that if an individual wants to achieve the standards of the “American Dream”, he or she must make him or her self the primary objective, and put his or her family relations aside to accomplish what he or she has set out to do. Later in the play, Jim reveals a 2nd trait, his mental maturity. Likely arising from being free from binding obligations, such a maturity shows that Jim is not only taking the right steps physically, but is also mentally adapted to accomplish such a huge goal such as the American Dream. Only in such a state of success is Jim then able to pursue women. Jim’s overall character reveals the ideal candidate to achieve the American Dream.

In the end, in order to achieve the American Dream, one must work hard and not allow family relations get in the way of such a tremendous goal. It is the quest for such a goal that matters. In order to achieve a goal, one must truly desire it. Passion must coarse through their blood, for anything but success is utter failure. What truly separates success from failure is the desire to achieve such a goal. One who works hard and places his faith into what he truly desires will be met with success, but that man or woman who aimlessly does not have him or her self fully dedicated will be met with failure and will always remain but a dreamer. However, as times change, the dreamers dream on, starving on what could have been, whereas the comfortable corpulent men admire their work and dedication of the past. If those who want to accomplish goal, be it minor or major, were to put in all their effort, work until they couldn’t work anymore, and stay dedicated throughout their adventure of accomplishment, then this world could be a lot more content and peaceful place for everyone.

Events taht would occur in West Africa 2012.

VERY DEFINITE IN WEST AFRICA 2012

There would be a person or group of people in West Africa that would want to reshape the Sub-region to achieve its long over due greatest. This would however be done on their own terms and not the truth before their eyes.

                                                                       NIGERIA

Let’s look at Nigeria, a giant that has stubbornly refused to grow; despite its numerous human potentials. Nigeria last year and year before had issues to do with its yearly fiscal budget. A lot of noise and hot air is always blown yearly especially when it comes to the budget. This talk will come from the nation’s six geo-political zones where blames would be apportioned to the various political leaders for the failure to pass the budget quickly.

There is also the problem of fuel subsidy that is yet to be resolved, January 2012 there were riots against this evil that leaves a sore taste in our mouth as a people, it would continue in fact various committee have already been set up to look into this problem.

The county’s Central Bank Governor Sanusi Lamido will once again fight for the total removal of the fuel subsidy even when majority of Nigerians don’t agree that the product is being subsidized. The country’s two legislative Houses would debate and have more committee has the issue of pension scam and public looting reaches monumental heights; in fact revelations coming from findings into looting is so disturbing we can only help and watch.

Again the upper and lower legislative Houses would increase the budget by adding to the expenditure and pretend they are doing it in our best interest. Hence, long hours would be wasted analyzing what is not.

FUEL SUBSIDY

President Goodluck Jonathan and members of his cabinet namely Okonjo-Iweala and other will tow the line of total subsidy removal while the National Orientation Agency will continue to sanitize the public on why the president is right to remove subsidy. Prices would be compared with other countries that produce oil However; only those that sell higher than Nigerian government would be placed on television and newspaper for the nationals to see. The activist would counter those claims by posting their own finding that is totally opposite of the government.

SECURITY

Boko Haram the terrorist group from the north would continue to get regular attention has the bombs drop. M eeting would be made to find solutions to their menace but to what avail? Solidiers and police would be drafted to hostile areas in the north part of Nigeria to quell the group’s chaos. Military service chief would be changed as they fall belong expectations and President Jonathan would continue to accuse his adversaries from all over the country while the attacks on Christian communities in the north suffer fear and hardship.

SPORTS

Last year the nation witnessed one of it saddest moments in sports all our male and female national football failed teams failed to qualify for any major tournaments this year. A look at many sports organization from boxing, football among others showed that many had multiple court cases against their heads and opposition groups also came up. This year many have started well by settling outside court, this was also done last year with not positive result. Lets see how their fair this year.

                                                  36 STATES

As usual the country’s 36 state governors and their various state assemblies would cry of lack of funding and why their states should get more federal allocation. Many projects will equally be launched but will also die natural deaths. Political upheavals are expected in all 36 states as some close political allies become defectors.

One thing is certain, some states that have election this year are not expecting the incumbents to leave office; not in Nigeria. Taxes might be increased in some states, local government chairmen would continue to pay only salaries as their funds desapair from state coffers. Many foreign trips would be undertaken to no avail because; what our governors see abroad are never reciprocated in their home states.

                                             GHANA

Another fight between the two main political parties would be very conspicuous, swords would be drawn and accusations and counter accusations would be the order of the day. The new found oil wealth and how to manage it would excite the politicians and public as a whole. Voting patterns are not expected to change the Volta region and the Kumasi region would continue to be strong hold for the two main political party which are National Democratic Part and the National Patriotic Party (NDC and NPP) respectively.

The poor would blame the ruling party for their misfortune while other would begin to pray that the rival political party gain office for their fortunes to change for the better.

SENEGAL

Hopefully food riots would not be coming again after all there is a new president in Dakar with bright ideas; maybe he will find a lasting solution with small neighbors Gambia. A speech on how making Senegal great I know has already gone out from the presidential palace.

GAMBIA

Their charismatic leader is expected to hold the fort for long period of time, crushing all opposition is not new to him. Nothing new is expected from Gambia .Perhaps his claim for curing Aids might bring much needed foreign exchange to the country not forgetting placing the nation on the world stage.

TOGO AND BENIN REPUBLIC

These two nations would certainly be quiet as usual because Benin Republic has its own stable democracy. Togo on the other hand has a president though voted for but inherited by son from late father. They might blame foreigners for slight economic woes or troubles but they will get by in their own way. Maybe China and few Lebanese business men can help move these two countries forward.

                                    GUINEA AND GUINEA BISSAU

Both poor and unstable in government, coup and coup seems to be the order of the day since the last four years. Drug barons will be happy since chaos is good for their illicit trade.

MALI

At last the coup plotters are out an interim president is in place, the shock of a coup rocked the sub-region most especially Mali, the quiet nation has woken up to the reality that people are demanding change and it most come quickly.

THE REST

Other countries in West Africa will surely witness one activity or the order, Niger would be watched by the West especially U.S.A due to its rich uranium that Uncle Sam does not want getting into wrong hands. It is also a country that has a history of military unrest. The military loves to over throw the government at short notice.

Liberia still recovering from civil war is still under Mrs. Johnson and her adviser son who took a tabloid to court for defamation. Projects are still ongoing and more Chinese influence is expected. Nigeria, Ghana and other nations will play some significant role in aiding Liberia to get back on its feet.

Freetown Liberia neighbour will most likely benefit from foreign aid and maybe footballer Craig Bellamy’s academy for scour and not forgetting the mining companies that would look for precious stones. Little is expected from them as greedy is the order of the day with mining companies.

In general the Sub-region is expected to witness plenty activity in some countries in what ever form those activity comes 2012 will see significant changes in some countries in West Africa while the ruling class better be careful as the long suffering masses are tired of their lies. The military are waiting in most countries including illegal arms dealers to sell death should chance be given to evil to reign

Over the next few months leading up to the November election, that is what we can expect from the Democrats: an all-out assault on the Republican nominee’s character, based upon his wealth.

BY: Anthony J. Sacco, JD, © April 2012

CHEYENNE, WY – In Wyoming we have two daily newspapers; unfortunately for a state with a two-party system, they’re both Democrat. One is liberal, the other slightly less so. The differences are in the spin they put on each of their articles, not the depths to which they sink, daily, in attempting to convert liberals to conservatives, republicans to democrats. They have long ago lost all credibility, except in the eyes of the very gullible. In referring to the newspapers, I prefer the term “Rags.” But that’s just me.

It’s an election year. The Democrat candidate for president is set; no one will oppose Barack Hussein Obama. On the Republican side, several candidates have, for months, been running (some say running amuck) in a primary that has been both interesting and revealing. With the withdrawal of Rick Santorum on Monday, April 9, it appears the Republican side of the equation has now been determined: Mitt Romney will be the candidate.

On Friday, March 30, 2012, the “rag” located in Casper was at it again. On its Opinion page (at least they didn’t try to sell this item as news), the paper printed an article by a Creators Syndicate columnist, with, as far as I can tell, no other credentials. Toadying up to the Democrat “Establishment,” (Yes, Virginia, the Democrat Party has one, too), her piece clearly seeks to hit the tone of the week, or month, or will it be one of the tones for Obama’s campaign from now until November; the Democrat spin and liberal mantra; “Mitt Romney is wealthy. He is out of touch with average Americans. Therefore, he cannot possibly make a good president.”

Democrats do not like to have it pointed out to them that when Obama began his run for the presidency in 2007, his net worth was estimated at between $200,000 and $400,000. Today? His net worth is, according to OpenSecrets.org, an outfit that tracks this sort of thing, estimated at $9 million to $11 million. That’s well above the net worth of “average” Americans, by any standard. Care to consider where that money came from? Or how it added up (or should I say multiplied) so quickly?

The article is titled “Romney’s Pacific palace is ill-timed.” As you’d expect, it’s a vitriolic attack on the lifestyle of the Republican candidate and his family, couched in faux concern that he is not “winning over anxiety-ridden middle class voters” because he has, at best, “questionable judgment about where and how he lives.”

“Mitt Romney has three houses,” the article’s author says. “The former Massachusetts governor would like to do a $12 million ‘fix-up’ on one of them, a beach front property in La Jolla, CA. The plan is to tear down the existing 3,000 square foot structure and build an 8,100 square foot replacement, plus a car elevator.”

The article describes Romney’s second home as “a six-bedroom contemporary sitting on 11 choice acres along the shores of Lake Winnipesauke, in the resort town of Wolfeboro, N.H. Real estate experts value the 5,400 square foot residence at around $10 million.”

His third home? “The family also owns a townhouse outside of Boston, covering a mere 2,100 square feet.”

Then, to make sure we get her point, this lady says, “We must also mention the Romney’s 9,514 square foot extravaganza in the plush skiing resort of Park City, Utah, sold in 2000.” Get it? Romney does not own that property anymore, having sold it well over ten years ago. But we need to know about it anyway, because in order to develop any credibility with the liberal Democrat newspapers in which she strives to be published, she must, absolutely must, make the point that Romney has been loaded and living to excess for years, and she must do it in such a way that leaves her readers drowning in envy.

With the Democrats, this is exactly what we will need to expect and look for over the next six months leading up to the November election: an all-out assault on the Republican nominee’s character, based upon his wealth. That won’t be the only assault but that’ll be a large one. And the reason is simple. Obama, who has been in the White House for four years, cannot run on his record. He has accomplished little in that time, and what he has accomplished adds up to some great big negatives for us, the American people.

The President’s wife, Michelle, apparently does not understand. On February 23, 2012, she spoke at a campaign luncheon where people paid between $300 and $10,000 to hear her wax poetic about her husband’s track record and attempt to convince them that [only] Barack Obama [and certainly not Mitt Romney] truly understands the plight of the working class in America, and despite her husband’s Wall Street backers and Super PAC, and despite an administration full of lobbyists and corporate shills, he’s truly the champion of the 99% of people who may or may not pay taxes depending on whether they are also one of only 58% of taxpaying Americans left who pay the freight. She delivered this speech after she met with a room full of big donors who shelled out upwards of $10,000 to have their picture taken with her.” One more thing: the outfit she wore, a coat and dress ensemble created by Peter Dom, an American designer out of New York, is valued at $2,500, somewhat above the budget of those “average” Americans about whom she and her husband profess to be concerned.

In this post-modernist age, where it is not considered fashionable by many to mention God, much less sin, the seven deadly sins are seldom considered. However, they do still exist, no matter how much Atheists, Agnostics, and New Age advocates might wish they did not. They are Pride, Envy, Lust, Anger, Gluttony, Greed, and Sloth; and they are considered deadly because, Christians believe, they kill our life of sanctifying grace and damage our relationship with God. In my opinion articles like the one I’m describing are destructive because they present two of the seven – envy and greed – as if they were not sins at all; as if envy and greed are perfectly normal and acceptable traits.

Envy is defined as resenting another person’s good fortune or joy. The Roman Catholic Church distinguishes between two kinds of envy;

1) Material envy – is when you resent others who have more money, talent, strength, beauty, friends, etc., than you do.

2) Spiritual envy – is resenting others who progress in holiness, preferring that they stay at or below your level, instead of being joyful and happy that they’re doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Greed is defined as the inordinate love of and desire for earthly possessions. Amassing a fortune and simply trying to accumulate the most stuff is greed, sometimes called avarice. Next to anger, envy, and lust, more crimes have been committed due to greed than any other deadly sin. In discussing people of wealth, consideration must be given to not only how they acquired their wealth, but to what ends they put it; i.e., do they use it to do God’s work? Tithe, help others, etc.

So, Mitt Romney is a well-off person. If elected, he will be a wealthy president, among the richest in American history. No, he does not top George Washington, who owned nearly 60,000 acres of prime farm land and more than 300 slaves, and he is not close to Thomas Jefferson’s plantation wealth, Herbert Hoover’s millions from mining interests, or John F. Kennedy’s share of his family’s vast fortune. In fact, according to Jeffrey Winters, a political scientist at Northwestern University who pays attention to this sort of thing, “Romney is small potatoes compared with [today’s] ultra-wealthy.” But he is right up there.

Is it really a bad thing for the President to be a wealthy man when he takes office? Is there really anything wrong with him having been such a successful businessman prior to his election to national office that he became affluent? Apparently it is a perception owned by radical liberals, whose world view appears to be shaped by envy and greed; and owned by those who have lost hope that they, too, might reach the pinnacle of success, and who have abandoned all efforts to achieve it on their own merit. Jealousy consumes them.

If Mr. Romney wins the election, at least we will not have to put up with the specter of our president running around with his hand out, offering to accept favors, political or financial, from those who, in one way or another need government assistance or cooperation. And we will not need to watch after he leaves office, as he twists or ignores the law and hires on with some mega-corporation as a lobbyist at a fantastic salary.

When Harry Truman, our 43rd president, retired from office in 1952, it was not long before he began to receive offers of corporate positions at large salaries. He declined all of them, stating, “You don’t want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn’t belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it’s not for sale.” Although Mr. Truman was an exception – he was neither wealthy when he took office nor flush when he left – a well-to-do president, a person of independent means, is far more likely to take the same stance than one who needs money to live on after retirement.

Protect your freedom now, before Congress sells it on behalf of Big Ag, Big Pharma and Big Oil!

This inspiration is for Americans.

We have holidays like Independence Day, Memorial Day, Veterans’ Day and others. They come, we commemorate the events that led to their institution, and then we forget them until the following year.

This past Veterans Day caused me to ponder a little longer on the sacrifices and gifts that our veterans have given to us. Many men and women and boys and girls and dogs and mules and pigeions and more have served this country to preserve our right to liberty, justice and freedom. Just how important is liberty to you? How important is justice to you? How important is freedom to you?

With thoughts of 1774-1791 on my mind and especially after viewing World War I documentaries, I realized that although we live in different times and circumstances, we have similar threats to liberty, justice and freedom. Who would have thought that the biggest threats to liberty, justice and freedom would come during a time of relative peace on Earth? Who would have thought that the biggest threats to liberty, justice and freedom would come from American businesses?

In attempting to maintain market share and profits, some American businesses engage in persuading our local, state and federal officials to write laws and institute measures and sanctions that protect their businesses and industries from competition. However, we have learned in school that competition is good for the us, the consumers of American goods and services. Preventing competition can lead to high prices, poor quality goods and services, and a host of other unfavorabe circumstances.

Yet, several American businesses have considerable lobbying muscle that threatens our health, our wealth, our liberty, our justice and our freedom: Big Agriculture companies, Big Pharmaceuticals companies, and Big Oil.

Please view the following short video, or please bookmark this page and return to view it when you have more time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUFSdsffCgQ&feature=youtu.be

Who owns America? We the people! We need to put aside our idols from time to time and investigate what is going on around us. We need to make the time to investigate some other internet sites that have direct impact on our daily lives. One such site is the one below.

http://thomas.loc.gov/home/state-legislatures.html

You are somebody. Your vote matters. Your vote counts. Local, state and federal officials who sell us out for their own greed need to be removed from office. People who care about this country and its people need to voted in to replace them. Power to the people and not to the businesses and institutions that sell us out!

If you have read this, if we lose our liberty, justice and freedom, you now know why and how it happened. America, it is time to put away our idols and reclaim this country for the freedom of the people, for which it stands: one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

We have become an exceedingly litigious society. People sue for every little thing. My satirical article depicts society's need for $$$$$ and attention.

When did our society start working the system to make an extra buck? It’s understandable that people can become frustrated when they see others making money hand over fist, and they don’t have enough money to put food on the table.

With that said, frivolous lawsuits seem to be on the rise, which will only make matters worse. The ones who really make out are the unscrupulous lawyers who willingly take on these lawsuits.

It takes a person with real chutzpah to entertain some of these asinine scenarios. One has to wonder what, or who, is the motivator, when they were deliberately utilizing the court’s time for such senseless charges. Do such culprits hear the voice of Gordon Gekko(the character in “Wall Street”), whispering in his/her ears, “Greed is good.”

We can all agree that prices have gone up in all facets of life. It’s difficult to comprehend that once upon a time it cost a nickel to see a movie at our local theater. Nowadays you spend more at the concession stand than you do for the price of admission. It’s safe to say it can cost around twenty dollars per person, when it’s all said and done. One movie patron took it upon himself to try to sue AMC theaters for high costs at the concession stand. While we feel his pain, it’s ludicrous to fight it out in the courts. His case will never see the light of day. These types of lawsuits are exempt by the Consumer Protection Act. It’s just not a winnable case. A reputable lawyer wouldn’t even take it. I use the word reputable and lawyer in the same sentence, as if it’s an oxy moron. Okay, not all lawyers are crooks.

It might be more cathartic for an outraged patron to do his impersonation of Howard Beale(“Network”) and shout , “I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore!” If nothing else, you’ll get the attention you’re looking for, although the men in white coats might take you off to the booby hatch in the middle of your big scene.

Another unnecessary lawsuit was the case against McDonald’s and the hot coffee caper. An elderly woman was scalded from a cup of hot coffee from McDonald’s. While one felt sorry for the woman and the pain she went through, it’s only natural to expect coffee to be hot. Would she even have sued if she hadn’t spilled the coffee on herself?? No, most likely not. McDonald’s didn’t intentionally throw it on her, so how can you expect them to be responsible. The end result was that she won the suit and added an extra mil to her bank account.

Can you imagine suing a local forecaster for not predicting the right weather? One did in fact, sue a forecaster for predicting good weather, only for it to rain, and the woman contracted the flu because she dressed too lightly. So this woman deemed it necessary to waste the court’s time for pain and suffering. Once again, she did win the case.

There are numerous frivolous lawsuits, but I’m only noting the most memorable and unbelievable.

Lastly, there was a Michigan man who attempted to sue the beer company, Anheuser-Bush for false advertising. Supposedly the beer company ran a series of commercials where two beautiful women come to life in front of two truck drivers. When this man bought and drank a case of beer, and failed to see the two women, he cried foul and claimed that the company falsely advertised. He was asking for $10,000 dollars and ended up with zilch. I realize judges are supposed to remain professional when they’re on the bench, but I wonder how the judge with this case could keep a straight face. He might feel compelled to drink a case of beer after hearing this one.

I’m waiting for a child to bring a lawsuit against a parent for being too homely. I can just hear the plaintiff getting up in court and retorting, “Your honor I’m suing my parents for defective genes. As a result I’m ugly as sin.” When will people take responsibility for their own actions? These type of people turn into habitual litigants. They literally reside in courthouses looking for a way to make it big. These parasites make it bad for those of us who have legitimate lawsuits to pursue. In addition, those people who generally offer to help others, will think twice now, in fear of being sued.

In conclusion, Clarence Darrow is probably rolling over in his grave. The epitome of a great legal mind would shutter to think how the law has been manipulated to line one’s wallet.

An article about another man. Yes, it is heavily opinionated.

Before you comment, if you do, please make sure to read the whole article.

Bill Maher is a comedian, television host, political commentator, author, and actor. A renaissance man I believe is the term for him. He was born in January 20, 1956. You can read more about Bill Maher here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Maher

This is another man whose views I agree with. Obviously I don’t agree with all of his views but as I have said numerous times no one truly agrees with each other 100%.

I like some of what Bill Maher stands for. I like that he is for the legalization of same sex marriage and marijuana. I don’t consider marijuana a drug. I don’t smoke marijuana, at least not anymore, but I don’t see why people should be banned from smoking it. I believe it is perfectly natural. I am against drugs but as I said I don’t consider marijuana a drug. Marijuana is a plant.

As for same sex marriage, there is no problem with that either. If you aren’t gay don’t marry someone of the same sex you are. Get over yourself already. Everyone should have the life they want shouldn’t they?

By the way, I don’t own the videos. I am promoting them so they get more views. That is if you even bother to watch them anyway.
