Dogs offer many valuable things, making our lives better and easier. If we learn from the dogs for the good qualities, we can enjoy a better world.

Many people love dogs and have one at home as a pet. Dogs are capable of helping humans in many different aspects, very often more than you can imagine. Their lives are never an easy one. However, dogs always do their duties well and there are many valuable things we can learn from them.

Before we go on, please note that the images in this article all come from Google Photo Search unless specify.

(Happy dogs, image from the Japanese Telephone Card I bought several years ago)

Dogs are a source of love and fun, making people happy. They are loyal, friendly and hardworking. It is warm to have a dog welcome you back home by swaying its tail. Some dogs are so well trained that they will bring you newspaper and slippers. They are always ready to receive your orders, perform the duties handsomely, without complaint.

Dogs are energetic. Their owners often have a chance to forget work after office hour, have some fun by playing with the dogs. Many people like doing exercises with their dogs to keep fit, such as jogging, hiking and swimming.

Dogs can make their owners more appealing and help them in attracting the opposite gender. They are the living sample on how kind and considerate their owners are. Sometimes, they help in delivering love message for their masters.

(Dogs are good companions, image from the Japanese Telephone Card I bought several years ago)

Many children, adults, elders welcome to have a dog as their company. They may talk with their dogs, nagging with their own problems without this company saying a nasty comment in return. No harsh judgment and despise even you are at the worst state of your life. What you have is a faithful company that sticks to you as always.

Some dogs are well-trained to keep an eye on your home to prevent robbery, to take care of the elders and so on. Whenever there are accidents, dogs can run quickly to seek help, sometimes saving a person’s life.

Dogs are not simply hard-working when they are pets. Many of them have received training and being into professional uses.

(Police dog)

Police dogs help in catching the thieves. Some are trained to detect drugs and worked at the custom. Some are trained to find people or things.

(Guide dog)

Guide dogs are very helpful to the blind or vision impaired people, allowing them more freedom going to a place.

(Therapy dog)

Old people often do not have the energy to go out. They are forced to stay indoors and this can be quite boring and cause depression. Some dogs are trained to visit these old people. They are the therapy dogs. The purpose of their visit is to cheer up the elders.

(Racing dogs)

Some dogs are professional runners. The racing dogs bring forth entertainment and excitement when people watched the race. The winner will help those who place bet on it to gain money.

(Dog model)

Dogs can have a busy life. Be a cover model for a magazine. Very often, they need to wear different clothes, have hair cut or hair dye for photo shooting. You will see dogs in catwalk showing the latest fashion.

(Dog in movie)

Some dogs are actors. They appeared in the TV show or movies. Here is a French mastiff, taking up the role as Hooch, co-starring with Tom Hanks in the movie Turner & Hooch (1989).

(Dog entertainer)

There are also dogs trained to perform in a circus, entertaining many people wherever they go.

(Hunting dog)

Some dogs are trained to do dangerous thing. The hunting dogs run in the wild with their masters, trying to detect the wild life, chase the wounded one and bring back the killed one.

(Sled dogs)

Dogs can work hard alone, but can also work well as a team. The sled dogs help transport people and goods from place to place. They will not strike by staying indoors due to the cold weather.

(Shepherd dogs)

The shepherd dogs walked a long way, herding sheep. They protect people’s property.

No matter what professions the dogs are assigned to, they need to undergo a lot of training to get the skills. Dogs work hard and faithfully when they are in services. The loyalty, patience, consistency, no complaints and love to humans are vital to perform the tasks.

What dogs get are a place to sleep, foods and drinks to stay away from hunger, and hopefully people’s love and trust. Humans often get more than the dogs. By the time we find our lives difficult, let us count our blessings and take a look at the dogs for some encouragements. If we can learn from the dogs to offer love, fun, making people happy, loyalty, friendliness, patience, consistency, companion, hardworking and so on, the world will be even better.

Kory Smith has always wanted to be one thing… A Music Video Director and Producer. He seems to be well on his way.

Spending a well deserved rest during a Friday evening, Kory Smith sips on a Gin and Tonic. He sits and listens to my questions regarding his current endeavors and future goals. Smith is a graduate of Old Dominion University where he majored in Mass Media Communications with a minor in Film and Video Production. One would assume that he came to the university with a clear focus on video production, but his path was not as directed in the beginning.

At the time Kory Smith entered college, he was declaring to be an engineering major. His mother and stepfather encouraged him to go to school and do what most people set off to do: graduate, get a stable job, work a 9-5 schedule, and do the daily grind as a professional. Smith was not a stranger to working hard towards an end goal… but after a discouraging failure in his physics class, he decided that his focus had to be elsewhere.

Incidentally, his mother had left a video camera in his dorm room. Smith was introduced to editing software by a dorm mate and he began to produce creative video projects for the simple fun of it. After his mother returned to campus and voiced her concern regarding his future, Smith pointed to the camera to answer vehemently, “that.”

Since then Kory Smith has not looked back. He knew that his focus should be on creating one-of-a-kind music videos. This is his true passion. He currently doesn’t have much interest in filming movies, commercials, or event coverage; instead he is compelled to aim for the level of work that directors like Hype Williams, Michelle Gendry, and Spike Jones has achieved.

“I believe that I possess a younger, more modern approach compared to some of my competitors in this area,” says Smith. “I have the ambition. I want to go for the best or bigger. I’ve hung out of cars, climbed up ladders, almost been arrested… all for trying, and getting, fantastic shots. I live for the compliments that people give me when they mention that the ‘look’ of the video was very professional and finished.”

Smith always looks to improve upon each project he has completed; assessing if there is anything to learn from what he’s done previously. “Unless I get to the echelon of my profession, I never want to plateau in my ability to conceptualize and produce good work.”

His ideal client would be any up and coming band or musician that is currently transcending into their breakthrough and is ready to be taken more seriously. He would like someone like T-Pain, who’s energy seems to be driven and professional, someone who can give more and play to the camera.

“I like when people come prepared and take their work seriously,” Smith adamantly states. “ I appreciate helping those who are in the same situation as myself. This is a business and it is what I live on. We need to collaborate and be equally demanding of one another and then the work can speak for itself.”

Kory Smith has partnered with Tremayne Johnson (A.K.A. “Treezy”) and Eugene Gonzales. They are the ones running Inklined Studios based in the Ghent area of Norfolk, Virginia. This is a recent establishment, although the trio has been working together for over 3 years. Smith remarks, “I want to be around those people who are driven. Some are too content with waiting for opportunities. I can’t do that. I literally eat this stuff up. LOVE what you do… or quit!”
