This Article is a summery of a research of a Review of the Literature.

This Article Is A Review of the Literature About: Immune Function In Exercise

Introduction:

Exercise can have both positive and negative effects on immune function (and susceptibility to minor Illnesses). Many studies have reported that part of the immune cell functions are temporarily impaired during prolonged heavy exercise, and those athletes appear to be more susceptible to minor infections.During intense prolonged exercise there are increased levels of stress hormones that cause reducing in leukocytes capacities. During exercise exposure to airborne pathogens is increased due to depth of breathing.

Several Longitudinal Studies:

Several Longitudinal Studies have monitored immune function in high-level athletes such as cyclists, swimmers and footballers, during a competitive season. In a recent study of American football players, the incidence of UTRI was increased during intense training.Another study monitored a cohort of elite Australian swimmers over a 7 – month training season in preparation for the national championships. The results indicated significant depression of resting serum and salivary immunoglobulin concentrations in athletes, associated with long-term training at an intensive level.

Chronic Effects Of Exercise Training On Immune Function:

During cross-section studies it has been found that levels of leukocytes in athletes, after more that 24 hours resting are almost the same as sedentary individuals. Thus in the resting state, immune function appears to be almost similar in athletes and non-athletes.New studies showed that the Immunoglobulin levels in athletes are higher than in non-athletes, else if the athletes are in periods of very heavy training. While athletes at a periods of very heavy training, they have a dysfunction in the immune system, but it does not put them in danger of serious illness, but it increase their risk of picking up common infections such as URTI, or Influenza.

Is It A Small Price To Pay For Long-Term Health Benefits?

Extreme exercise stress may impair immune function and increase the chances to get infection, but this may not be entirely bad for the athlete and by reducing immune activation and subsequent inflammation, be one of the mechanisms through which regular exercise benefits long-term health.Period of chronic exercise training can cause a post-exercise immunodepression and higher susceptibility to get infection, this may be a small price to pay as, over long term, a decrease in TLR expression may represent a beneficial effect, because it decreases the inflammatory capacity of leukocytes, thus altering whole body chronic inflammation and possibly reducing the risk of developing chronic disease.

In Summary:

Heavy exercise cause a temporary depression of immune function, that lasts 3-25 hours after exercise, depending on the intensity of the exercise.Periods of intensified training, last one week or more can result immune dysfunction for longer time.Individuals do not need to perform heavy training in order to achieve the health benefits of exercise.

Is discrimination against someone because they are overweight really as serious as racial and sexual discrimination? One group certainly thinks so.

The UK Government is being called on to make calling someone fat a hate crime.

In practise this means, if anyone is caught calling someone fat they can be arrested, put in a cell and prosecuted.

Now, I am staunchly anti-bullying. I can not tell you how much it sickens me how poorly people are treated if they look slightly different or do not fit in for any other number of reasons. Someone being picked on because they are overweight is inexcusable.

Having said this, I cannot condone this move to make calling someone fat a hate crime.

The move is being driven by a report by the all-party parliamentary group on body image. This group believe the government should put appearance-based discrimination on a par with race and sexual discrimination.

The body image group however are missing a crucial point to my mind. While you cannot help what race you are or what sex you are, you do have a certain amount of control over what size you are. There are some people who have health conditions which mean they put on excessive weight but all in all – and this is the controversial part I know – a lot of people tend to be fat because they eat too much and do not exercise enough.

I fear that if there were any moves to make calling someone fat a hate crime it would only fuel this complacency people have with their weight.

A lot of people seem to be quite flummoxed about how they reached the size they are in the first place. If we as a society start to tiptoe around people who we can see are overweight and damaging their health then it will mean soon the vast majority of people will fall into this overweight category and we will have a serious problem on our hands.

I’m not saying we should be abusing these people into seeing sense but there does need to be more openness about people’s weight problems.

The body image group are also hoping to ban NHS weigh-ins for five and ten-year-olds because they believe young children should not have to worry about their weight.

I agree with this last sentiment entirely but at the same time if a child is beginning to become overweight and looks like they could be obese in the future it is much kinder to help them at an earlier age to eat healthily and be encouraged to take more exercise.

It is the same with doctors. NICE – the National Institute of Clinical Excellence – are ploughing the way for doctors to be prevented from telling their patients they are obese. This is the one place where surely honesty is of the utmost importance.

A doctor telling someone they need to look at their weight isn’t the same as a yob hurling abuse at a fat person as they walk down the street. But if this yob is seen to be carted away in a police van as a result of his tirade, this is surely saying that being fat is just as out of a person’s control as the colour of their skin.

A brief discussion of Down Syndrome and the stages of development from childhood to adulthood put together from cited research.

Down syndrome is a chromosomal disorder that occurs in the embryo during cellular division. “Prior to conception, a pair of the 21st chromosomes in either the sperm or the egg fails to separate. As the embryo develops, the extra chromosome is replicated in every cell of the body” (ndss.org). This mutation is known as Trisomy 21, which gives the characteristics of Down syndrome. Children with Down syndrome are at risk for many health factors as well as containing severe learning disabilities depending on the severity of the retardation. Research has shown developmental patterns of children with this exceptionality as well as influences that can strengthen them. This discussion on the development of children with Down syndrome will analyze aspects of research based on cognition and adaptability as well as family influences. Understanding these aspects of Down syndrome will allow readers better knowledge of the exceptionality as well as the fragility of development from infant to adult.

The developmental milestones of children with Down syndrome when considering categories such as gross motor skills, language, and personal and social abilities; occur slower and less frequent than typical children. According to the National Down Syndrome Society, for example, it could take an infant with DS twenty-one months longer to learn how to sit up alone; three years longer to walk alone; and around five years longer to develop two-word phrases, than a typical infant (ndss.com). These numbers represent the most extreme cases and can be reduced with proper influence and developmental aids such as speech and physical therapy as well as occupational and behavior therapy later in life.

Family influences also play a role in the adaptive behavior of children with Down syndrome. As a caretaker of a sibling with this exceptionality, it has become apparent that constant interaction is needed in order to further increase functionality. A longitudinal study conducted to show the family relational environment as an aid in the advancement of adaptive functioning found that in categories such as communication, daily living, and social skills; a significant increase in functioning occurred from birth to adulthood. “Families in which members feel more connected to each other, and in which mothers engage in emotionally supportive, contingently responsive and cognitive growth-promoting interactions with their child with Down syndrome, have children who, over time, demonstrate significant benefits in communicating and socializing with others and in their ability to engage in independent self-care tasks” (Hauser-Cram, Warfield, Shonkoff, Krauss, Upshur, Sayer, 1999). It is important for progressive growth that families work together in the development of a child with Down syndrome. Using therapist and other programs will also aid in showing significant progress as the child matures.

Studies have also been conducted to show how early intervention can help a child with Down syndrome better develop as they grow older. Early intervention is very important because it boost skills that would otherwise be delayed if the child only depended on self-learning. A study conducted by Frosso Motti, Dante Cicchetti, and L. Allen Sroufe tested the level of play of one year old children with Down syndrome. The test measured the child’s ability to distinguish reality of objects such as symbols and color recognition against those of a “normal” child. It followed up after a few years of the child receiving early intervention. The results showed that intervention boosted the child’s mental capacity to age-appropriate capacities in recognition.

“Based on these findings it was expected that, if affective development is closely tied to cognitive development, then the level and quality of the socio-emotional aspects of the free-play situation would be closely related to cognitive aspects of the situation. The results provided further support for this hypothesis and revealed an impressive coherence in the development of Down syndrome children of this sample (Motti, Cicchetti, Sroufe, 1983).”

This study furthers shows readers the importance of early intervention and interaction to improve cognitive development of children with Down syndrome.

Other studies have been conducted to determine a child’s mental age by measure pretend play. Pretend play shows the child’s ability to symbolize which refers to ways the child imitates, shows representation, and verbal expression. Measuring pretend play is an emerging method that shows semiotic function which allows for the prediction of evolving cognitive skills. This allows for data collected based on metal capacity instead of being based only on sensorimotor skills (Hill, McCune-Nicloch, 1981). The study found that this symbolic play behavior is responsive to intervention and shows advanced progression as the child matures (Hill, McCune-Nicloch, 1981). This further shows that early intervention increases mental maturation.

As these children transition to elementary and secondary schools it is important to remember that they, too, have the same ability to learn as regular education students. Students with disabilities, by law, all have an individualized education plan (IEP). This plan is derived from consultation between the parent and school special education specialist. Data collected is used to determine what accommodation and/or modifications are needed to help the student reach a desired outcome. The IEP is then applied to the student’s classes to ensure proper facilitation of learning. It is important to remember the student’s individual ability when preparing their plans. Concentrating only on the label will further delay the student’s ability to learn. It is also important to be positive, enthusiastic, and have high expectations. Special educators should work to ensure that the student is maximizing their learning potential. Although the student will learn some things slower than others, it is important to allow students to learn instead of just giving them information. Positive reinforcement is important to prevent excessive frustration. Teachers should establish a routine and give clear signals when transitioning to a different aspect of learning. Educational goals should be clear, high, and flexible. The student’s ability will inform teachers where the lesson needs to go but pushing them to progress is a definite (ndss.com).

Children with Down syndrome are exceptional. They are loving, caring, and have potential that can blossom with the right intervention. Early intervention is most important when helping any child with a disability progress through life. These children will develop at a slower pace than most but developmental rates can increase with proper treatment. Without giving the children proper aid at an early age puts them at a greater risk of poor cognitive development. Many studies show many ways that cognitive development can be increase by active intervention with therapist along with family involvement. Readers have learned how family influence, support, and interaction will increase development well beyond the normal standards. They have also learned how early intervention can increase development. With this information, readers now have an understanding of Down syndrome and the fragility of development.

In Chile, 500 000 pigs will be killed. Following violent protests by residents fled parts of the workforce of the largest pig farm in the country. Hundreds of animals starved to death. Now the government has declared a "health emergency".

The operator justifies the slaughter so that a removal of the animals would be too expensive.

Since the start of the biggest pig farm in Chile health risks to consumers, are being killed for their 500,000 animals. “They are simply killed. You are not moved to another farm,” said a representative of the company’s Super Agro, which owns the farm, including abattoir and meat plant, local media in Freirina in the north of the country. Residents in the city over a week ago had blocked the roads leading to the Super Agro-complex to protest against the stench emanating from him.

At the protests of local residents led to riots, hundreds of workers fled in fear of attacks from the company premises. An unknown number of pigs died then, because the animals remained several days without food and water. Ultimately, the government stepped in, declared a “health emergency” and ordered the closure of the plant.

At the same time the authorities got super agro six months to evacuate the animals from the premises. But that will not do the business. In support of said super-agent agro Jose Guzman, there were 50 000 trucks needed to transport the pigs. In addition, would have no other farm animals.

The time have come for a new movement, don't you think? Well, I'm going to give you one, or at least a few thoughts to point you in a new direction..

What is the New Dawn? Well, I can tell you what it isn’t. It’s not a new religious sect or cult. It’s not a new political program of manifest. So what is it then?

New Dawn started as an idea as there seemed to be a growing number of people who was sick and tired of how political and corporate leaders only seemed to make changes that benefited themselves and a small elite that already had more than they needed. Okay, this sounds political, but hang in there, there are more to it.

There is a growing number of people who have began to speak about how we need to break away from the society run by those leaders and create self-sustainable and self-sufficient communities outside society. This may sound almost impossible, no government would allow citizens break free and build communities that aren’t controlled by those governments, would they? Probably not, but on the other hand it have been done before.

There have always at one time or another come forth a group of people who don’t share the values and ideals of the ruling majority, and many have very successfully been able to create new communites where they can live by their own values and rules. Most of these groups are of religious nature but it is nowhere etched in stone that it have to be that way. And that’s where this new movement may have a chance to succeed.

The New Dawn have its roots as far back as in the hippie movement in the 60s and 70s, but without the drugs. It is in fact against drug or alcohol abuse and promotes a clean, healthy lifestyle of balance between body, mind and spirit. It is a movement about living in harmony with nature and don’t take more than what is needed to support their families. It is also about combining the ancient wisdom of our ancestors with modern technology as well as combining alternative medicine with the traditional medicine used on modern hospitals every day.

“We could occupy old abandoned mansions or convents and start a group with the official intent to live by our own belief system, and it may come to that one day if our leaders don’t stop abusing Mother Earth, and exploit her for their own material gain.” The person who said this wishes to remain anonymous, but continues, “We are not terrorists and are not here to neither cause violence or fear. We only wish to create self-sustainable and self-sufficient communities that live in harmony with nature without exploiting her.”

A New Dawn is a suitable name for this movement that wishes to create a new way of living around the planet, a way that takes us away from the materialistic world of today and in to a world where we focus more on what is good for all.

How to do so.

It can’t have escaped your attention that the binge drinking problem in this country is going from bad to worse. There is a huge number of people being hospitalised every night due to drinking too much, and a shocking number of them are actually too young to even be able to legally drink. With this being the case, it seem to be the only logical step that we should want to prepare our children for the prospect of alcohol in advance, so that they are given all of the information about it that they need, as this should make them less likely to get into trouble.

Firstly, if you make alcohol a mystery to your children, then this is just going to make them even more curious about it when their time comes. From when they are young, you should allow them to sip at an alcoholic drink at meal times, or even have one of their own mixed very weakly with lemonade or another soft drink. This means that once they’re legally able to buy alcohol themselves, they’re not going to rebel against you and just go and drink as much of it as they can. They’re not going to be wondering what it tastes like, as they will have already tried it, nor are they going to think that they are cool for drinking it because it will have just been something that they were brought up being able to drink. It is also important that you set an example to them as well. It is up to you if you want to get drunk, however to do this in front of your children would not be good parenting. This would mean that they would see that being drunk is the norm, and this should not be the case at all.

When they are in their teens, you should tell them that you don’t mind them having a drink at parties, as long as they tell you what they want and then let you buy it for them. You don’t want them to get into the habit of buying alcohol on their own when it isn’t legal, as this is only going to get them into a lot of trouble in the long term. Tell them that you trust them not to drink anything other than what you’re buying for them, and that if they betray that trust, you’re simply not going to allow them to take alcohol or a party again or, if they’re young enough to still be under your control, go to the party at all.

It is important that you talk about the dangers of drinking to them. If you know of somebody who has damaged themselves seriously with alcohol, or even died because of it, then this is a good story. You don’t want to scare them, and they need to understand that alcohol can be fine in small amounts, but it is very important that they do understand just how problematic an actual binge can be to their own bodies.

Sex Hormones build ladies a lot of lovely

Recent analysis reveals that ladies who have sex hormone estrogen to levels high enough to possess a prettier face.

These findings build evolutionary is smart. Men are a lot of interested in ladies who are infertile. This was stated by a team of researchers from the University of St Andrews within the Journal of the Royal Society.

It is said, the degree of estrogen throughout puberty will have an effect on the looks, particularly through the expansion of bone and skin texture.

But the mask build-up will make ladies less enticing truly become a lot of enticing.

A team of psychologists at the Laboratory during this perception has been photographing the face of a girl aged regarding fifty nine between eighteen and twenty five years recent and content-analyzed their sex hormone levels.

Then they asked thirty volunteers consisting of fifteen men and fifteen ladies to rate every face in step with this lady. each male and feminine volunteers rated the faces of ladies with high levels of hormones that are even a lot of physically enticing.

Faces tend to possess classic options like larger eyes and lips and nose and chin smaller.

However, when the ladies within the images were carrying frame, look found no relationship between attractiveness and estrogen.

The researchers believe that the build-up make the show changes. Head of the study, Miriam Law Smith, said: “Women are effectively advertising the final fertility with their faces.”

“Make-up will modification the planning, and clearly it helps those that are less enticing a lot of.”

For example, eye build-up will be used to enlarge the eyes and therefore the foundation will make skin look brighter.

“Our findings might make a case for why men universally appear to like female women’s faces. In evolutionary terms, it is smart for men to favor female fertile ladies – hence their baby can grow,”

Dr Tony very little, a teacher at the college of Biological Sciences at the University of Liverpool, said: “It’s a awfully fascinating study.”

“The findings build sense. Estrogen is clearly related to fertility. edges to selecting specific varieties of ladies.”

“The findings concerning the make-up is additionally fascinating. Implication that ladies are using a deceptive strategy. they will fool the male visual system with make-up.”

He said his studies with co-worker Craig Roberts showed feminine attractiveness conjointly fluctuated throughout the menstrual cycle, peaking on the times when the girl is fertile.

Do you get a headache that nothing seems to lessen? Well you might try using sex as a headache solution...

American scientists have found that regular sex headaches can be prevented. Sexually active women – due to the increased hormone levels – a significantly lower risk for menstrual pain, vascular calcification and osteoporosis. Also in men, the body as a whole is more resistant to age-related complaints, infectious diseases and even cancer . In addition, regular sex for men saves them from prostate ailments .

“A decisive factor for heart attack is a lack of love,” says Dr. Alexander Lowen by the International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis in New York. “I do not mean sentimental love, but love fulfilled.” In two studies proved that female and male heart attack patients complained about two-thirds of sexual unfulfillment or problems in love. Sex hormones do not just happy. If they are paid regularly, they have a positive effect on health. During sex, for example, nitric oxide is produced, which is responsible not only for the erection of the man, but also prevents cardiovascular diseases.

25% of migraine patients reported that sex was alleviated during a migraine attack, headaches and nausea. Even chronic pain such as backache or joint pain are attenuated – probably an effect of “happiness” hormones (endorphins) that are released during sex also. Moreover, it removes stress and attenuates stress-induced sex, according to Dr. Reed Moskowitz of Stress Disorders Medical Service in New York, the effect of the stress hormone adrenaline.

Even in animal studies can be proved the healing power of sex: golden hamster, which were allowed to live together freely, remained healthy, their comrades in “solitary confinement”, however, were ill. However: Too much is unhealthy. Loved the animals too excessive, then the immune system was weakened – Overzealous sick nearly as often as abstemious.

Sex strengthens the immune system

During sex, you feel known to be very close. And that’s why the immune system mobilizes and sends out immune cells against potential pathogens of the partner. Although it sounds trite: More sex means more immune cells and thus less colds and faster healing ailments. In addition, the slim line is unrelenting sex: lust full well you can burn 350 calories in 30 minutes almost, right?

Sex reduces the risk of prostate problems and reduces the risk of stroke in men

Sex can actually be called the best medicine of the man, especially the preventive effect is remarkable especially for special men disorders: During orgasm, the prostate (prostate), as it were drained. For her milky secretion stimulates motility of the sperm and is consumed at each orgasm. Regular emptying – by at least two orgasms a week – keeps the prostate elastic.

As the British journal “New Scientist” reported the Australian research team came to Graham Giles of Cancer Council Victoria in Melbourne on his last polls to a surprising conclusion. They compared data on sexual practices of 1,079 prostate cancer patients with those of 1,259 healthy men between the ages of 20 and 50 years. The more often the respondents between age 20 and 50 Age ejaculated, the less likely they have one developed prostate cancer. In men, the aged 20-30 masturbated more than five times per week, the risk is reduced by one third. The explanation for the observed effect appears simple: “The more the lines are flushed, the less remains stuck in it, which damages the cells.”

At three to four sex acts per week decreases as well – it shows a study by the University of Bristol – for example, the risk of stroke is less by half. Other studies have shown that high levels of the sex hormone testosterone to boost memory power and assertiveness of women. In addition, sexual intercourse is an effective pain reliever, during sex, the opium-like substances produced by the body are especially helpful for joint pain and headaches.
