A brief overview and description of Ancient number and counting system.

The Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphs, a pictorial script, to represent their numbers. They worked in Base 10 and had their hieroglyphs to represent powers of ten, starting at one and ending with a number that was larger than any one number symbol, ten million. Power of 10s’ unique hieroglyphs were combined to make other numbers.

The Babylonians used symbols to represent numbers in a sexagesimal system, or a Base 60 system. First their system contained five unique symbols based on the number sixty. Later, they had a more simple system that contained two symbols and three different values, one, ten, and sixty (one and sixty shared a symbol and represented their separate values depending on their position) Today we still use the Babylonian’s Base 60 system. Our circles have 360º, hours have sixty minutes, and minutes have sixty seconds.

The Ancient Chinese also worked in Base 10 having symbols for powers 10 from one to ten thousand. Later, they developed a much more advanced number system, having one space for ones, tens, hundreds, etc. Their numerals used rods/straight lines with the lines representing a value of one when they were on the bottom, which could be place vertically or horizontally, and lines with a value of five on the top, placed vertically if the ones were placed horizontally, and vice versa.

The Roman number system had a basic system with seven English letters as numerals, I (1), V (5), X (10), L (50), C (100), D (500), and M (1000) They were added together with the largest numeral on the left and the smallest on the right. When a smaller number was left of a bigger number, the smaller number was subtracted from the bigger number. They are still used today in ornaments, especially clocks.

The Mayan number system was one of the most advanced ancient number systems, and was very similar to ours in some respects. They were advanced in the concept of zero, having a solid symbol for it. Also, there were two other symbols representing one and five. They even had a place value system like the Chinese, except it was placed vertically, having ones on the bottom and larger place values on top. The Maya worked in Base 20.

UFO sightings go back since the dawn of human civilization some 5000 years ago, but ancient texts, hieroglyphics, and legends speak of encounters with UFOs that date back even further in time some 10,000 and 20,000 years ago.

From all over the world ancient cultures have documented the strange phenomenon of UFOs. The subject of UFOs and seeing strange objects in the sky has been reported even in the Christian Bible some 2000 to 3000 years ago. But what about the stories of close encounters of beings that were not of this Earth? The Bible has explained that many of these strange encounters are merely angels in disguise. That any contact with these divine beings is purely God’s messengers for good or worse. But surmounting evidence has led some to believe that UFO’s of the past are exactly like the overwhelming UFO’s we see today.

Recorded within the Bible text are stories and observations of UFOs. Strange close encounters can even be found on cave drawings and ancient hieroglyphics from temples around the globe. In ancient scriptures and legends past down through the generations of cultures around the world clearly document close encounters with not only strange objects in the sky, but with strange people that seem to possess all knowledge. Some common description of these supernatural beings became known as Fallen Angels, Nephilim Giants, and interdimensional beings visiting us. But what were they really?

Angelic beings have mostly been associated as benefactors to mankind. While still other descriptions evoke fear and dread because they were known to possess awesome powers that could destroy entire cities much like what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah as mentioned in the Bible. Some researchers have speculated that some of these ancient stories of strange beings that commended awesome power both in the air and on land were actually human. An outlandish claim that UFO’s from the past were created by humans, that doesn’t seem likely or does it? A highly speculative theory is that ancient humans had advance knowledge of the universe and possessed technology in comparable to our own today.

But how is this possible that UFOs existed before the dawn of civilization and where is the proof? In China’s Hunan province are recorded on rock carvings of objects that looked very much like UFOs dating back to 45,000 BC. Around 12,000 BC in China cave drawings of heaven are depicted and the discovery of the Dropa stones, disc-like polished stones which researchers believe its spiral grooves describe strange visitors from the sky who flew in glider ships. In cave drawings from Australia that once inhabited the ancient Aborigine dating back 8000 BC have depictions of strange creatures from the stars. The Aborigine believed these beings to have the power of flight and flew in triangular shaped aircraft very similar to our own Stealth bomber from the USA. But why would prehistoric man draw these pictograms of humanlike people coming out of the sky and traveling in high-speed modern aircraft?

It is clear that UFO reports have been happening all through human history and prehistory of recorded time. Dating back some 50,000 years ago of reported close encounters with UFOs as recorded by cave dwelling Neanderthals. Nevertheless, the descriptions and similarities of UFOs seen and recorded by ancient humans is the exactly the same kind of strange objects we see in the sky today. We are in the Age of Technology, computers, iPhones, transatlantic flights, space shuttles in Earth orbit, have an International Space Stations, rocket ships that can reach the moon, and more people on the Earth than ever before, who are keen observers of strange objects in the sky that are clearly not built by us with today’s known technology.

Despite the blackout of certain media and governments on the nature and reality of UFOs being seen by credible witnesses all around the world, there seems to be a growing amount of evidence to prove UFOs and strange visitors have descended on the Earth in ancient times, and are doing so again.

The river civilizations all contributed many useful things for the future. These contributions led to many great things.

The river valley civilizations had made many contributions that influenced future civilizations. Without these contributions, the future would be extremely different.

The Sumerians settled between the Euphrates and Tigris river. 5000 years ago, the Sumerians created the world’s first writing system, which was called cuneiform. This first writing system helped them with many things. Cuneiform helped them keep track of their trade. It was written on clay tablets, which was later put back to bake hard.

Their writing system led to the recording of Hammurabi’s Code. Hammurabi conquered Mesopotamia and then created the Code of Hammurabi. This was one of the most complete set of laws. It was considered very important because it governed a city and protected the people. The punishments in the Code of Hammurabi, varied depending on the crime being committed. It has 282 laws.

The Sumerians were not the only people to settle near a river. The Egyptians settled near the Nile River. The Egyptians specialized in mathematics, geometry, engineering, and architecture. This led to the creation of pyramids. These pyramids were used as houses or tombs.

In some pyramids, hieroglyphics can be found. Hieroglyphics was a form of writing based on pictures. The pictures were used to represent ideas, objects, or sounds. They were usually carved in clay or on stone. Later, they wrote them on papyrus, which was the first paper, which was created by the Egyptians.

near the Huang-He River, also known as the Yellow River, is where the Chinese settled. A man named Confucius created the belief of Confucianism. This taught how people should live their life and to accept where they are in the society. Confucianism led to the start of the civil service exams. The people took these exams for an opportunity of getting a well paying job. It is known that if you practice Confucianism you will have harmony.

There were many new inventions during the Han Dynasty. They invented porcelain , paper, ink, and gunpowder. They traded their foods along the Silk Road. This led to many new inventions.

Mesopotamia, Egyptians, and the Chinese civilizations were all very successful. They contributed many wonderful and extremely useful things. Today would most likely be very different without those contributions

Not to be confused with the popular language learning software or the Tool song "The Rosetta Stoned", this stone played a significant role in translating Eqyption heiroglyphics.

What is the Rosetta Stone?

During the French Occupation of Egypt, Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) led an expedition along the Nile river toward the Mediterranean Sea. Many drawings, chants and stone monuments were discovered. Among these was a Stele (a stone or wooden slab erected for funerals or commemorative purposes). The stone, made of black basalt, measures 14 feet by 10 feet and weighs 1700lbs. This particular stone found in 1779, has two different languages written on it.

Image via Wikipedia

The bottom script was recognized as being Greek, the middle Egyptian Demotic or simplified hieroglphics and the top was original Egyption hieroglyphics, or picture writing.

French scholars went to work deciphering the script on the stone. It was found to be an Egyptian decree inscribed in 196 BC, honouring Ptolemy V (2nd century BC) for favors to Egyptian priests. The real significance of the discovery was that it allowed translation of Egyptian hieroglyphics that was lost after the last Egyptian temple was closed in the 6th century A.D. The language was then replaced by the Coptic and Arabic alphabets.

The stone was named for the village of Rosetta, northeast of Alexandria, where it was discovered.

The Rosetta Stone has become idiomatic as something that is a critical key to a process of decryption or translation of a difficult problem. It has been held in the British Museum since 1802.

A look at different theories on the lost continent Atlantis, and a look at "What If", thinking outside of the box.

Atlantis was a great continent. Plato wrote about it as early as 360 B.C. Timaeus is one of two books that he had written, Critias his second book he was unable to complete; it is not clear to as why.

Other then these two written Manuscripts, there appears to be no other primary ancient account of Atlantis. All that write about Atlantis have had to at one time or another refer back to Plato’s manuscripts, being that they are the only recordings of such an event.

In the artist drawn below is the city of Atlantis. It is a very impressive likeness to that of the real Atlantis as I have seen it to be in my mind so I felt it has earned its rightful place in this my theory on Atlantis. Many have had dreams and past life experiences that point to their living in this great city. A city that appeared to have vanished beneath the sea in what some say was a great earthquake. Others say it was an explosion of tremendous force; originating from the great city’s center, that caused it to sink beneath the sea.

Some of the ancient philosophers viewed Atlantis as fiction including Aristole. However, in antiquity there also many that did believe in its existence and they too were historians, geographers and philosophers.

Even some of the great thinkers of our time have theorized that Plato’s writings concerning the lost continent of Atlantis were nothing more then the work of fiction to fuel his political career.

However, Evidence does exist that points to the reality that such a great continent and city did indeed at one time exist. Some of the relics and ruins that lay beneath the sea point to this.

Another fascinating discovery discovered at the Maya ruins at Coba, is a tablet with pictures that describe an escape from a cataclysm depicted by exploding volcanoes and collapsing temples.

The Maya legends state that their ancestors came from a great land in the Eastern Sea; it was destroyed by a great cataclysm and sank beneath the ocean. The Amer Indian traditions refer to this land as Azthan or Atlan and other similar names that, not-surprisingly, sound very much like Atlantis.

The crystal pyramids of Atlantis another interesting thought to ponder.

Could subterranean crystal pyramids power Atlantis? I believe so. We use crystals in almost everything electronic we build today, such as watches, instruments and even our computers.

Crystals are enhancer’s of energy; they store energy as well. Just think where humanity might be now if they had taken an interest in exploring the possibilities of using crystal technology instead of wasting our natural resources.

There are even Egyptian Hieroglyphics with ties to Atlantis. They speak of flying air ships such as these below.

They also tell of those that came from the sky in machines that harnessed great destructive power and referred to them as the ancient astronauts. Theories about Atlantis have often linked sightings of ancient astronauts to the Atlantean space ships.

Atlantis is said to have been bigger then the North America Continent and was diminished twice by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions and destroyed a third time by a world War Three. This war is said, to be the direct confrontations of warring races that settled on the planet from off world destinations.

This is another interesting point to ponder in that it opens the door to many theories such as the one I bring before you the reader now. It is my strong belief that Atlantis was a physical portal through which off world races were allowed to enter.

The planet has many portals scattered all over it but the main doorway to our world was Atlantis and through this passage, other alien races could emerge easily as long as it was to remain open. The remaining portals fanned out from the Great City Atlantis much like that of a spider’s web. Atlantis was the Jewel of all the portals the controlling center piece to which all other portal were connected.

The ancient dwellers of Atlantis realized that the ongoing warring between the off world visitors would eventually interfere with the normal development of our race. It was beginning to show early in our development as man began to incorporate the ancient technological advancements that the Atlantean and other off world dwellers had brought with them. We were as young children playing with dangerous toys that might well have destroyed us if not brought into check.

The image above was believed to be that of a huge light bulb constructed by the ancient Egyptians but later disputed by some other researchers claiming it to be part of a magical belief practiced by the priest of that area. I however feel it is the early development of the light bulb.

The portals of Atlantis would allow the travelers to fold time in onto its self, which would cause the Slip Streaming Effect. They could travel to any pre-selected place or point in time almost instantly.

The Atlantis Portal being the master key to all the doorways once destroyed would take away the easy accessibility and though most of the power source was destroyed, the other remaining doorways would open from time to time still allowing the spasmodic visitation of the other races to our world. This would also explain the random opening and closing of the remaining portals.

Each portal would be powered by the grid of crystal deposits buried deep beneath the earth. These grids as I call them are like strands of a spider’s web branching out from the main portal Atlantis, to encase the globe. The reason that these doorways are still active is due to the energy that is still stored and reproduced by their crystalline deposits.

The image above shows the extent these many crystalline deposits believed to be deposited around the globe. Interesting concept it is and each connecting line forms a triangle. Now that may be some more ”food for thought” for those of you that like thinking outside the “Box” like me the writer.

This brings me to yet another conclusion. The master gem I call the Blue Crystal, Much like the hope diamond only much larger that was pieced together in sections. It I feel could be the brain of the crystal chambers that controlled the machine that open and closed the main portal.

The Hope Diamond above as shown under an ultraviolet light is capable of storing and creating very powerful energy. The Atlantean in their great wisdom may have decided to remove and divide the huge gem into 13 segments representing the 13 tribes of man. Each tribe spread out over the planet creating its own belief system hence the saying, “All Faiths lead to one”.

I will further this explanation also by suggesting that Atlantis may not have been actually destroyed. She could be incased in a force field created by the ancient Atlantean and buried beneath the rubble that seems to be scattered over the ocean floor.

The electromagnetic field that may surround the inner city could not be seen by any of the tools we have at our disposal today. This is just a thought. I believe that once all the segments are collected and put in place that the Lost Continent of Atlantis, will raise again.

You be the judge.

Well-known man-made or natural rocks/stones found all over the world with cultural, historical or religious significance.

Sit back and enjoy a tour to these world famous rocks and stones, as follows:

Black Stone

Islam’s most sacred artifact, which, according to tradition, was the stone given by the angel Gabriel to Ishmael, the legendary founder of the Arab race. Known as “al-Hajar-ul-Aswad” in Arabic, it was built into the one of the outside corner of Kaaba, a pilgrimage shrine located within the courtyard of the massive “Masjid al-Haram,” the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. During the 10th century, it was taken away and shattered by an Iraqi sect of Qarmatians but was later recovered. The pieces are preserved in pitch and held together by silver wires.

Blarney Stone

A limestone situated high up on the parapet of the Blarney castle near Cork, Ireland. It was given by Robert the Bruce to Cormac McCarthy in 1314 in exchange for his support in the Battle of Bannockburn. According to legend, when this particular limestone is kissed, it will endow its kisser with the gift of persuasive eloquence. Yuck! Imagine kissing an object that has had people’s lips all over it for over 500 years.

Newspaper Rock

A flat sandstone cliff featuring one of the world’s largest known collections of petroglyphs, around two hundred square feet in area. Located in Moab, Utah, United States, this historic monument is believed to have been carved by several Native American cultures between 1,500 and 2,000 years ago.

Rock of Gibraltar

Considered as one of the Pillars of Hercules, this monolithic Jurassic limestone is situated on the south end of Europe of the Iberian Peninsula, lying at the junction of the Mediterranean and the Altantic. Also known as Mons Calpe, it has been used as a complex military fortification that spans over one thousand years of Moorish, Spanish and British history.

Ayers Rock

An enormous sandstone formation that stands 348 meters high, dominating the broad desert plains in central Australia of the Northern Territory, 400 kilometers southwest of Alice Springs. Also known as Uluru, the geological marvel is Australia’s most recognizable natural icon and holds great religious and cultural significance to the Aboriginal people of the area.

Rosetta Stone

(At the British Museum)

A black basalt stone, which discovery in the Egyptian village of Rashid somehow paved the way to the modern understanding of the once forgotten language of Egyptian hieroglyphics. It has been displayed in the British Museum in London since 1802, and contains three distinct bands of engraved inscription: hieroglyphics, demotic and ancient Greek.

Pantuo Rock

Situated in Zhejiang province atop the island mountain of Putuo, one of four sacred Buddhist site in China, is this rock that has its name in Chinese characters (literally “a huge stone on a mountain”) carved on it by a general from Ming Dynasty. It seems to be standing on top of another rock by the smallest contact point and very much likely to fall but has been firmly in place for millenia.

Stonehenge

Britain’s most famous prehistoric site that was erected using sarsens arranged in circles and has been standing in vigil on the Salisbury Plain near Amesbury for over five thousand years. How and why this megalithic monument was constructed has remained a mystery but theories abound that it was built by extra-terrestrials or the Druids, and that it was used for burial rituals or as an astronomical observatory.

Dome of the Rock

The structure sitting atop a plot of elevated platform in Jerusalem Israel identified by the Jews and Christians as the “Temple Mount”, and by the Muslims as “Haram al-Sharif” (”Noble Sanctuary” in Arabic). Inside this Islamic Shrine resides a rock in its center, on which Muslims believe was where Mohammed began his ascent to heaven, while Jews believe was where Abraham prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac.

Tarpeian Rock

The steep cliff used by the ancient Romans as an execution site from which criminals and traitors were thrown to their deaths. Lying south of the Capitoline Hill overlooking the Forum in Rome, it was named after a vestal virgin, who betrayed Rome to the Sabines in exchange for their gold bracelets but was instead crushed to death with their shields in expression of disgust for her actions.

The Egyptians used a set of pictures to represent words - Theses are called hieroglyphics.

There are many examples of hieroglyphics which can be found on the remaining Egyptian city walls and on the relics which have been found there.

THE ANCIENT EGYPTIAN ALPHABET

When the ancient city of Egypt was first discovered, travellers were dazzled by the beautiful, colourful symbols, but no one could understand what the Egyptian symbols meant.

In 1799, a large stone tablet was discovered by the French in a harbour on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt.

This stone tablet was called the Rosetta stone (named after the town where it was discovered).

The stone tablet translated the Egyptian hieroglyphs into the classical Greek alphabet (which Historians understood) , allowing historians, for the first time, to be able to understand the Egyptian writing.

THE ROSETTA STONE

With an understanding the Hieroglyphics, we have a great insight into the Egyptian way of life and their beliefs.

Even after finding the Rosetta stone, the Hieroglyphics are still difficult to read and interpret correctly because of the following facts:

The Rosetta stone, when it was found, was not fully intact – there were large chunks of the stone missing – therefore not all of the Egyptian symbols can be accurately translated.

The Egyptians did not use punctuation marks – no commas or full stops.

There are over 700 Egyptian symbols.

The Egyptians wrote both across – from right to left and from left to right.

The Egyptians wrote in vertical lines from top to bottom or from bottom to top.

Using hieroglyphics was a complicated process and the majority of normal Egyptians could neither read or write.

Boys of around 6 or 7 years old were chosen from wealthy families to be specifically trained to be scribes.

It took many years for them to be able to master the art.

Hieroglyphics can be found on stone, jewellery, ceramic pots and papyrus – which is a type of thick paper which was made from the papyrus plant which grew on the edge of the Nile river.

PAPYRUS PLANT

Many of the statues, temples and tombs were marked with oval name plaques, known as cartouches.

The Cartouche contained hieroglyphics which spelled out the name of the Pharaoh or God to which the building or item was made in honour of.

By reading Cartouches, historians can discover the names of the important figures in the Egyptian culture.
