All married Christian couples eventually come to "that topic:" that is the question, is anal sex a sin in a Christian marriage?

Married Christian couples eventually come to this question, is anal sex a sin in a Christian marriage? Is anal sex ok for married Christian sexuality? Many churches have condemned anal sex as a sin, but why? Does the Bible say that it is?

This is truly a subject that every married christain should talk about is Anal sex right or wrong for our marriage.

The bible doesn’t, however, spell it out for anal sex. There are no specific verses that say that anal sex between a married couple is a sin. Here are some verses that deal with homosexuality

LEVITCUS 18:20

LEVITICUS 20: 15-20

1 CORITHIANS 6:18

1 THESSALONIAN 4:3

Even though the Bible doesn’t Mention any thing about anal sex, I believe this is something share between married couple, this is something that need to pray to god about the desire of having anal sex. The spirit will tell you is it right or wrong or even healthy for your marriaged.

Many christian tend to believe other wise. But ask yourself the question Why ? because of the lusts inside me Does me of the pornography I use to watch?

I’m not the Judge. God is the final judge.

Just because something is permissible, doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s right to you.

Peace is one of the essential things we need to make progress and stay healthy in life. When peace eludes one, he is bereft of ideas and even all he has before will be lost or forgotten. God who loves us so much want to make covenant of peace with us so that "line will begin to fall for us in pleasant places."

Everlasting Peace

Text: Ezekiel 37:26 – Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them. I will establish them and multiply them and I will set my sanctuary in their midst forevermore (New King James Version).

There are four different promises for us in today’s passage.

1) Covenant of peace. Covenant is a promise to somebody or a legal agreement. As used here, it is both a promise and legal agreement. God promised peace on the condition that they walk in God’s judgment and observe His statues (Ezekiel 36:24). Do you desire peace? Then always walk in God’s judgment.

2) He will establish us. NLT says, “I will give them their land”. The promise God makes here is that He will restore our Eden, a place of peace, flowing with milk and honey.

3) He will multiply us. God multiplies. He does not only add but multiplies. This He told Adam in Genesis 1:28. Go through the bible and you will find out this truth about God. When we observe His laws it will be ours.

4) He has His sanctuary with us. This means that He will dwell in our hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit. If then, God is with you and for you, who will be against you? He will dwell with you this year when you live for Him.

Whatever may be the general state of Christ’s church, he supplies all the wants of those who make him the Shepherd and Bishop of their souls; defends them from every enemy, makes all their trials work together for their good, and finally gathers them into his heavenly fold, where they shall no more hunger or thirst for ever. This is the mark of Covenant of Peace. This should be the desires of all who want to see the blessings of God rest upon them. Be part of this covenant

FFT: Have you entered into covenant with God?

Prayer Point:

1) Thank God, for He is ever faithful to His promises.

2) Pray that these promises will be yours.

3) Bind every covenant working against your peace.

4) Ask for the peace of God upon your life, family and all you do

Perseverance leads to character and character produces hope. This is the view of Paul in his letter to the Romans. Perseverance helps us to develop right attitude to life. It is a way of depending on providence in matters of life. Nevertheless, when we persevere there is always a reward as we see in the case of this man at the pool of Bethseda.

Theme: The Presence of God

Topic: Perseverance Has A Reward Text: John 5:1 – 9

Introduction: “There is no royal road to anything; one thing at a time, all things in succession. That which grows fast withers as rapidly; that which grows slowly endures” so says J.G. Holland. This saying brings me to the topic I have chosen to speak on. The theme of 3rd Sunday after Epiphany in the Church Year calendar of Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion is ‘The Presence of God.’ However, I have chosen to speak on the topic: ‘Perseverance Has A Reward.’ Indeed there is a reward for whatever we do whether good or bad. For whatsoever we do either in open or secret, there is a reward. Therefore we must be careful.

Development: The story in our text is well known to us. We have severally heard different preachers speak on this text. However, I want to look at it from another angle: Perseverance and its reward. This man was sick for 38years. We were not told if he spent the 38 years beside the pool of Bethesda. There are some characteristics in this story I want us to consider.

1. He was sick of an infirmity not mentioned. It may be palsy, for he was able to see the turning of the sea and others go in before him. If he were blind, he wouldn’t have seen the things he described while talking with Jesus. You may have an infirmity without name but that is not a hindrance to Jesus healing you. Doctors might have told you that your illness cannot be described and you are now worried. That sickness that has no name cannot stop you from receiving your healing from God.

2. It has lasted for 38 years. 38 years is not just 38 days. This is a long period. This prolonged illness has indeed taken a toll on this man as per friends and family members. It may have resulted in people deserting him. Your case may not have lasted for as much as 38 years. May be yours has lasted for 3 years, 5 years or more or even less. God can still do something for you. The numbers of years or months you have been on the sick bed or in that problem is not a determining factor to your healing. When God decides, He will do it. All you need is to keep believing Him and persevering.

3. He had no helper – No family members or friends. This man in emotion laden voice told Jesus that he has no helper. May be the long period he has been on that sick bed led to his people to have forsaken him. May be they have lost all hope of his getting well and thus they dumped him by the pool of Bethesda perhaps one day relieve and help might come his way. However despite all these, this may did not give up or deicide to commit suicide rather he kept believing that someday help will come. You may have been deserted by friends, your family members would have given up on you because you are sick, things are not going on well with you, you are married and not a child to show for it after many years, etc. Never mind, God is able to bring you out of that sick bed or that problem and those who deserted you will come back to rejoice with you.

4. He was thus handicapped. The situation of this man as he described his case is pathetic. The summary of it all is that he is handicapped and cannot do anything for himself. However, God saw the sincerity of this man and came his way. Are you handicapped and has no one to help or assist you? I announce to you that you will also be remembered as this man was remembered by Jesus.

When Jesus came to the scene, He met him and asked if he wanted to be healed and his answer was in v7: “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jamieson Fausset-Brown commented on this v7 saying “Instead of saying he wished to be cured, he just tells with piteous simplicity how fruitless had been all his efforts to obtain it, and how helpless and all but hopeless he was. Yet not quite. For here he is at the pool, waiting on. It seemed of no use; nay, only tantalizing.” Continuing, he said, “Yet he will not go away. He may get nothing by staying, he may drop into his grave ere he gets into the pool; but by going from the appointed, divine way of healing, he can get nothing. Wait therefore he will, wait he does, and when Christ comes to heal him, lo! He is waiting for his turn. But he held on, and his perseverance was rewarded with a glorious cure. Probably some rays of hope darted into his heart as he told his tale before those Eyes whose glance measured his whole case. But the word of command consummates his preparation to receive the cure, and instantaneously works it.”

Many of us act usually like this man. When we are in the presence of God, we keep saying piteous things instead of tabling our problems before God. Trying to been seen as helpless and hopeless to attract mercies do not move God. That can move man but not God. Many will rather complain than pray. This was what this man acted. Despite the piteous and not straight forward answer he gave, God in His compassion and mercies granted him healing. All his waiting was not in vain. At last the years he stayed there paid off for him.

In life we face problems. Life usually present it curve on our way. However it is dishearthening to note that many of us today do not know anything about perseverance. We do not want to persevere for anything. Paul noted in Romans Chapter 5 that there are benefits in perseverance. He said “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” – Romans 5:1 – 5.

Also Apostle Peter noted that “But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” This shows the importance of perseverance in our Christian race.

We are in Jet Age when people want things done immediately and we use such faith in wanting all things done for us immediately we approach God. Today we manifest all form of vices because we are impatient and cannot persevere. Some of those vices and ills are exam malpractice, broken marriages, rushing into marriage because we feel time is running out on us, insubordinate to authority at home, school, churches and offices, proliferation of churches, divisions here and there as a result of unwillingness to persevere, etc. It is said that a patient dog eats the fattest bone. Yes the Bible says in Mt 21:22: “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive”; this does not mean that God will arbitrarily grant us all we ask. He may delay it for a purpose and at the end it will be more glorious. Check the story of Elizabeth who gave birth to the greatest man ever born on earth and Manoah and his wife who gave birth to the strongest man ever lived, Syro-Phoenician woman despite all we may call ‘insult’ heaped on her by Jesus did not want to leave because she knew that Jesus is the only one that has the answer to her problem. There are many other cases. If you know that Jesus is the only one that has answer to that your problem of sickness, failure in business, no child after years of marriage, no intending spouse, failure in examinations, etc, you should learn to trust Him and keep persevering.

Conclusion: God loves us no doubt about that. However, we must learn to persevere till the end. We should not give to God half hearted commitment. It was Surgeon who said it all- ”You have received Christ; persevere in receiving him. You have come to trust him; keep on trusting him. You hang about his neck as a poor, helpless sinner; remain hanging there. Abide in him.” As we continue trusting Him, hanging on Him and believing in Him, we will never loose.

Two of their friends, with whom they’d walked closely for more than three years, were dead – one subjected to hours of cruel torture, until he expired, the other taken out by gruesome suicide.

Traumatised by what they’d witnessed, they met in secret – like fugitives hiding from an awesome predator. Conversation mingled with sheer disbelief, recrimination, even desperation. “What if”, they asked each other, “we’d stood tall, and just had some guts”. One of the brothers sought refuge in the corner shadows – occasionally convulsed with sobs, as he considered his own actions and reactions – there were denials, bad language, a ‘prophetic’ cock, & finally, the ‘look’ that said it all.

Bereft and leaderless, dreading the sound of heavy footsteps at their heavily locked door…they waited – for what they didn’t know – joyless and heart-broken.

THAT was how the day after Good Friday might have looked … but a new day was fast approaching – Resurrection Day – when everything would change suddenly, and life would never be the same.

We may learn by reflection on the dramatic effect of Jesus’ resurrection on the ‘band of brothers’ and their immediate friends, for within a matter of weeks a transformation of such epic proportions occurred, finding its culmination in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.

These two days – Resurrection and Pentecost – proclaim then, now and forever, that in the economy of God there is always a place called FORWARD. Whatever our personal battles, traumas & stresses it is possible to find that place and to enter into the rest of faith. In our crises, we ought never to forget the crucial lesson, learned in the topsy-turviness of our human existence, that “every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good”.

To KNOW this is to be wealthy indeed…

Why not take a moment right now to invite the Holy Spirit into your life, into your hurts, into your weaknesses, into your disappointments and into your failures … find for yourself the place that is FORWARD.

PRAYER: “Transforming Spirit, come afresh into my life, opening my eyes, healing my heart, renewing my mind & bringing purpose and direction. Take me to the place that is FORWARD, empowering me to walk in wholeness and fruitfulness, and enabling me to serve you & others in selflessness as You lead – through Jesus Christ, AMEN”

It is that time of year again when we all do a lot of remembering, taking stock of the year now past and setting new goals, making resolutions. Here are some thoughts for the New Year...Read More.

SOME THOUGHTS FOR THE NEW YEAR

As the New Year approaches and we take stock of the year now past let us remember that no matter what has happened, good or bad, right or wrong it is over, it is past and life is a forward motion. It is time to put yesterday behind us, forgive that which ought to be forgiven including forgiving our self for our own mistakes…we’ve all made them.

Live today and look toward the New Year with renewed hope. Don’t hold grudges or carry old baggage that will only weigh us down into the future ahead of us…forgive it and move on. God really is in control and it is only through Him we will see our ultimate goal. Trust God, bear with one another, encourage and share the love, hope, mercy and grace God has given us. What we sow we shall reap in joy or in sorrow and it is our way to choose. Let us share the “love” God has shown toward us with others in the New Year ahead.

The Bible says, “If we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. We know that we live in Him and He in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.” 1 John 4:12-13.

As we enter the New Year let us remember and think on what Paul said as he addressed the Philippians when he was explaining how we ought to live and strive toward our life’s goal as Christians reminding us that though we are under grace we are not yet perfect but we have the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the life lessons God has taught us and God’s daily blessings to uphold, encourage and enrich us as we follow Him and ask and seek and receive from Him.

Remember Paul’s reminder to us as we move into the New Year when he said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 Paul said, “…Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:1-14

We can do all things through Christ…think about it and let us press forward and leave the past behind us. It is over. We can’t change, undo, or relive one moment of one yesterday. Forgive it, learn from it and put it to rest; press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus. It seems a good and right way to begin our New Year.

Let us not enter the New Year filled with regrets, worries and fear. Remember God’s promise to us when we believe, trust and follow Him. God said, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10

Oh what a marvelous promise. Oh what an awesome God. Have a Happy and blessed New Year in Jesus name.

A Mother’s Witness

We’ve all watched her since our birth from her. Preparing meals, simple and elaborate ones. All the households duties were performed by her with an ease that we grew to envy. We’ve witnessed her love or the absence of it. We know firsthand what it took to raise a child because we watched her. That woman who was bigger than life itself growing up and who, with age, becomes a fragile, dependent friend to us.

“Show Me”

Mary, as Mother of Our Lord, needed to teach her son during those early years. And, years later. He watched and witnessed her actions and perform her duties with the same intensity that we watched our mothers. She thought that we were not watching her during a melancholy time, but we saw her expressions of sadness, reflective or sorrowful. We did not interrupt, but we saw her.

She showed Jesus how to say, “Yes,” even while she was still afraid and standing in front of God’s messenger. She showed Jesus how to trust and hope while he was still inside her. She showed Jesus how to be an immigrant, traveling for his safety to a foreign land with no papers or credentials and knowing that your own culture rejected you as an unwed mother. She showed Jesus the importance of obedience after discovering him in the temple. She showed Jesus that you do not need to tell people what to do in order to achieve your ends – but you do need to show them. You show them, through your actions. They imitate what they see and have been taught.

She showed Jesus how to perform his first miracle in spite of his brash response, “My time has not yet arrived.” Mother simply told the staff, “Do whatever he tells you to do,” and proceeds back to the wedding party.

She showed Jesus how to assemble those faithful to him for a meal to commemorate their Jewish tradition while ushering in a new Eucharist for generations to honor. Watching her prepare all those suppers gave Jesus a witness to follow in preparing his last meal with his followers.

She showed Jesus how to suffer. Undoubtedly the greatest lesson a mother can teach her child. It is easy to teach or convey happiness. It is another lesson, it is life’s lesson, to teach a child of yours the meaning of suffer, the way through suffering and the door that leads out of suffering. She witnessed suffering for him. He saw it. He was able to imitate it perfectly. He had a good teacher. He had a good mother.

Becoming A Messiah

One doesn’t just become a “messiah” overnight. There is no school that gives a degree in “messiahship.” There is no on-the-job training that prepares you for the greatness and the humblest of all callings. There is only the witness between two people; mother and son, daughter and father, teacher and mentor, friend and friend, stranger and stranger.

Jesus became Messiah and the Christ because he was able to realize that it was possible, it was something he could achieve. After all, his mother showed him.

The Lord has promised that he would bless us if we met certain conditions. These conditions can best be achieved when we are in a relationship with Christ. Then we can act according to God’s will and not our own.

The way we conduct our affairs at our business, at work, and at home is the key to prosperity. No more can we be led by the flesh and expect for God to bless us. When we operate under the flesh, we cannot do the things that we should, as it says in Galatians 5:17 (“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”)

Christians, whether they are business owners or have jobs, learn through a relationship with Jesus how to treat people. If we follow his example, then we should begin to see major changes in our lives and more profits in our business, regardless of the times in which we are living. We need wisdom in order to do this. Wisdom involves doing the right things at the right time with the right people.

Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord giveth wisdom; out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.” If we study the life of Jesus, we will see that he had wisdom, knowledge and understand. We must begin to act with wisdom, and gain knowledge and understanding of our business, our circumstances, and the people with whom we come into contact. We can no longer continue operating under the flesh, but with righteousness judgment and equity in our dealings, (Proverbs 2:9). We must make a conscious radical change in our thinking and in our actions. God’s wisdom must operate in all of our decisions.

If we lack the wisdom, we can pray for it. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given to him.” No matter what walk of life you come from, you can change it by making a conscious effort to walk in wisdom. The early settlers of the United States taught students how to run a business using the book of Proverbs, which contains many rules for making sound business decisions.

The insults, the lack of consideration for others, the pride, the selfishness, the jealousy and selfish ambition have to stop. God does not bless this behavior, he hates it. We have to find ways of showing grace to others who are falling short, because that is how God treats us.

I am noticing some changes in my own life because of this and I am looking forward to even more blessings as I acquire more of God’s wisdom. This is possible for everyone regardless of your walk in life because “God is no respecter of persons” and we are sons and daughters of God. Obedience to his commands will bring us into receiving his promises. We have to begin to do the things that he requires of us.

Hings including Movies, news articles, books and documentaries are cropping up to depict a doomsday about to occur in December 2012; the root of the stories and reports can be contributed to the Mayan people and the changes they say will occur in what is being deemed as the "2012 Mayan Prophecy." Mayans are a religious culture and with most religion comes prophecy. Not to be confused with the prophecies of the likes of Nostradamus or Edgar Cayce. The Mayan culture worship the sun beacause they believe firmly in a cyclical calendar which designates the beginning and ending of certain periods of time. The 2012 Mayan Prophecy does not necessarily state that this will be the total destruction of the Earth.

The Basis of the Prophecy

The Mayan calendar ends in the year 2012, also called the end of the ancient Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar Cycle, which should be stated the Mayan people no longer track the long count calendar and have not done so for at least 500 years. Yet, the Mayan people do state that the 2012 date is of significant importance in ending the current cycle of the sun and that a new era will begin. The Mayans go on to say that we are currently within the transitions of this cycle right now. The 2012 Mayan Prophecy is not that of; mass destruction and loss of life or the ending of the world as we know it.

The Prophecy Explained

The Mayans is deeply rooted in the sun. The current cycle which they call, ‘Cycle of the merge of the dark and the light.’ The full force of the ‘cycle of light’ will come on December 21, 2012. The beginning of this new era is about weaving a tapestry of balance and harmony. We can interpret this as to be a time when all mankind should come together in one accord or total brotherhood. So, as you can see western civilization is largely responsible for the apocalyptic doomsday messages of destruction, not the 2012 Mayan Prophecy.

Who Holds All the Answers?

It should be stated that even the Mayan timekeepers can not safely say what will actually take place and when the cycle will end or even what to truly expect. Sadly, in the year 1562 the Roman Catholic Bishop De Landa ordered brutally destroyed almost all of the Mayan books and calendars not to mention many sacred artifacts. It is reported that only three Maya codices were saved. So you can very well see why the Mayan priests have been quick to point out that they are hesitant in making any form of a definitive prediction, through the 2012 Mayan Prophecy, as to what “will” happen so that westerners will not discount the wisdom of their ancestors. What the Mayans are saying is that this change could pass completely unnoticed or it could be marked by a brief period of prolonged darkness that may last from 30-70 hours. They have gone on to say that if this does occur, there is no need to be afraid.

This article gives a brief scriptural description of this often misunderstood Gift of the Spirit.

The Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues functions with the companion gift of The Gift of Interpretation of Tongues. These two gifts working together equal Prophesy. Prophesy can function with or without these two gifts, but Divers Tongues and The Interpretation of Tongues are dependent upon one another.

When Paul talks about not speaking in Tongues unless there is an interpreter present, he is talking about Divers Kinds of Tongues. He is not talking about the unknown tongues that every believer has access to after receiving the Holy Spirit.

In the books of 1 Corinthians 12, 13, and 14 Paul talks to us primarily about the Gifts of The Spirit. Within these books he also makes reference to those unknown tongues that every believer receives at the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Although many believers who have received the Holy Spirit do not speak in unknown tongues but it is not because they don’t have the ability.

Divers Kinds of Tongues

for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same* Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. I Corinthians 12:8-10

This manifestation of tongues is in the category of the Gifts of the Spirit. Through study, we see that the Gifts of the Spirit are given to benefit others. While praying in other tongues can be used to “build yourself” up, to worship God, and to refresh yourself.

On the day of Pentecost everyone spoke in tongues. This does not keep in line with this description of Divers Kinds of Tongues. The scripture above says to one not to all.

But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. I Corinthians 12:11

These tongues are worked by the Holy Spirit and are given individually as He wills. This contrasts Paul saying, I will pray with the spirit… which indicates personal control.

How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. I Corinthians 14:26

The context puts these tongues in the category with individual manifestations ie., “each of you has”… The context further leads one to believe that these manifestations are specific in information that enlightens. A psalm, a teaching, a revelation and a tongue with its interpretation are given in a language that is understood.

If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there be two or at the most three, each in turn, and let one interpret. I Corinthians 14:27

Paul is setting the order of operation for the use of the Gifts of Divers Kinds of Tongues and Interpretation in the church.

But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God. I Corinthians 14:28

This reference is to the Gifts of Divers Kinds of Tongues which is used to bring a message from God to the people. When this Gift is manifested, the person speaking is the only one being heard. All attention is given to the speaker in the anticipation of the interpretation which should follow. It is the interpretation of this tongue that is the message from God.

There are fewer scriptures relating to the operation of the Gift of Divers Kinds of Tongues than there are relating to Tongues as your prayer language. That is because the Holy Spirit operates Divers Kinds of Tongues while we operate our prayer language.

And, because we operate our prayer language as we will, we have to be taught how we should use this ability, along with whats its purpose and benefits are. We also need to be taught how the Holy Spirit uses the Gifts that He has given to the Body of Christ.

God Bless You…

Inspired to live in my Christianity through my actions.

So tonight I wanted to write about a Bible verse that really impacted me last night at Bible study, I should have wrote about what I was thinking as soon as I got home, because today I can’t seem to remember the effect it was having on me last night. I started several sentences hoping it would come back to me, yet I just couldn’t make it work. Hopefully, I’ll get to it soon, but because I felt like writing, I decided to share with you a heartwarming experience that really confirmed some things in my spirit.

I’ve been writing this blog for a couple weeks now, I’ve only written like 7 or 8 entries, and I’ve posted their links in several discussion forums, many of them Christian themed. (Some of which banned me for “Spamming”) I was not surprising however to get many negative comments and feedback from all kinds of people, honestly I expected this, I really did. I did not realize however, that the comments would be in such agreement about what people thought about gay people. So many people think of gay people as dirty little sinners, yet they can’t really put a figure on what those sins are when confronted with a “Gay Christian.” They “know” homosexuality is a sin, so gay and Christian must not be possible right?

If you’ve been keeping up thus far on my articles, you know my position on what it means to be a gay Christian, and so far I’ve expressed my own life choices, and desires. I’ve used examples, and analogies, and short stories to show the meaning of a life desired to live for God, from a person who is gay.

On one hand you have to understand the position of the straight traditional Christian, because most of the “gay-ness” they have been exposed to is the headliner flamers, pornographic media, and stereotypical self-absorbed queens. On the other hand, it seems like they have to realize the mirror to their own heterosexual culture following the same patterns and corrupt morals, and in higher numbers. It’s so hard for them to separate the picture of what they think they know, from the picture of the reality within the Christian gay community.

So how do we show the difference between the two pictures? For one thing, being gay does not condemn you to a lifestyle of that sexualized slutty queen often portrayed on Television. If you are a Christian man or Woman who is gay, we are not given special rights to sin because of our sexuality. To be honest, I think we often feel this way! It’s almost like we feel entitled to get away with more because we are put on the pedestal of “sinner” already, it’s like because people have already judged us, we should be allowed a few more freebies then other people. The reality is NO one gets freebies, it’s just like the kids meal I used to beg my parents for at the local Dairy Queen (which they closed down a couple years ago, I am still recovering from that shock,) because after I was finished with my meal, there lay in the bottom of the sack, a token for a “free” ice cream. It felt so special, being a kid, knowing I was entitled to that free ice cream. Why? Because I was a kid, reason enough for me! The reality was that it was as free as the meal my parents had to buy in order to get it. (Can you see the picture of Christ buying our freedom ?)

So what does a gay Christian look like? It looks the same as a straight Christian should look like, remember folks; it’s the same playing field with the same rules, there just happens to be different teams.

Anyways, as I was contemplating the situation of being a gay Christian, and how other Christians viewed us no matter what kind of choices we make, good or bad, I was surprised to receive a text from a friend I recently added on a social networking site. On this particular site, I usually search within the gay community for friends, sometimes I randomly add people to see what kind of personalities I run across. I often “make friends” with people who label themselves “Christians” or “Spiritual” but you would never know it. Today however, someone who seemed genuinely nice invited me to text them, and it had been hours since their last reply. I honestly didn’t think much of it, after all it’s just another gay person I met online right?

His text message however changed the entire night, and on into the next day even. In this text; this guy, was apologizing for taking so long to reply to me, he had been busy preparing food and delivering it to the homeless people around his neighborhood. “They depend on me for food on Thursdays” He said. My heart melted, Here was the perfect thing to lift my spirit, to show exactly what that picture of a gay Christian looks like, and this picture looked better than most… and probably all the straight Christians who surround me.

The Bible confirms this picture of a Christian in James 1:27:
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

Amazing how so much truth and instruction can be contained in a single verse! This is what we are called too! Serving the people in their affliction, taking care of people, showing them love! Keeping ourselves “unstained” from the world produces these works. Who is going to take care of the homeless when all he thinks about is his next purchase at Tiffany’s? Or who to hook up with tonight?

It is so possible to be a gay Christian, and today I have been challenged to be better than I am. Thank you friend for your inspiration to prove my love for God beyond words! I challenge everyone who reads this, gay or straight, but especially the gay men and women… Make your life count, serve God with all your heart, don’t get caught up in proving to those hetero’s through your words, arguments, and endless examples and analogies, prove your Salvation, your love for Christ, your devotion to God through your actions!

We often tell ourselves when faced with opposition that God is our judge, not man. We leave it at that, and feel good that we can be gay and ok with God. Let’s turn that around for a second and use it against ourselves, what we do here on earth is judged by God, let’s get our act together and show God our faith, not men. When we are showing it to God, only then will men see it too.

Who is depending on you? Who is depending on me?
