An outback adventure has turned to tragedy when Australian actor Hugh Jackman was killed in a trail bike accident in the Sunny Corner State Forest.

Initial police inquiries indicate the fatality occurred around 10 am on Tuesday during an outing to the area which is popular with trail bikers. Police said Jackman was riding with friends from the Sydney area. Riders in the group had separated and were traveling in opposite directions on the trails within the forest. Jackman had apparently been riding alone and when he failed to return to the main group his friends went looking for him. They made their tragic discovery around 10.30.
