Have you ever wondered what it is like to work at an animal shelter? I will attempt to answer the most common questions through my experience of five years working at a shelter in Canada.

Society, as defined by almost all major sources, is a set of relationships between individuals, good or bad.

Everything that happens around us, every hour, every day, every week. Thousands of helpless animals are mercilessly beaten, starved, imprisoned by their owners. In some cases, authorities, neighbors and witnesses to these acts of hatred and intervene in order to not require animals, and new homes and real help. Many animals are not so fortunate, and often the only way out of this hell alive dead.

I had to write something on animal cruelty, for I am passionate about animals and their well-being. Neighborhoods and communities need to make it their business to make sure that the animals in the midst are taken care of and not abused. Signs of abuse must be reported. This can be done anonymously so no one needs to be afraid that their identity will be known. We all need to do what we can because they give so much to us. Let’s do what we can to give back.
