I recently reread “The Maltese Falcon”. I was surprised to find it quite different from what I remember. I last read it nearly 30 years ago and I’ve watched the 1941 movie with Humphrey Bogart several times since then. The differences made me reconsider who Sam Spade was and why he did what he did.
