Happiness is a state of mind that is not necessarily always connected with outer situations. It is possible to be happy regardless of on-going problems, but how does one reach this state?

Many individuals at the moment are searching for a tried and true answer to happiness in any manner they can find. How to be happy is even a phrase that’s searched on the Internet through Google over 60,000 times world-wide every month. So many searches appear to be a powerful indication of discontent within the general population.

There’s quite a lot of advice available through self-help books and internet resources regarding following your heart and offering gratitude as avenues to obtaining happiness – and these are very good points, but what about those who don’t really experience that gratitude, or simply don’t have the assets to follow their heart? There must be something more to happiness than meets the eye.

Discover Happiness by Implementing Universal Laws

What is it about your present situation that is less than gratifying? Maybe it’s the absense of of quality relationships, too much debt or employment that you just don’t like. You can begin right now to change your life for the better and learn to be happy by being aware of certain universal laws that govern reality.

Your current scenario in life is mostly a result of ideas, choices and actions taken in the past. The quality of these actions will determine the standard of your life. In other words, the universe will reciprocate to you what you send out. This is the universal law of cause and effect and there is no preference for good or bad – it works no matter what.

Begin With the Golden Rule…

Your capability for happiness is much greater with the understanding of this law. Begin by practicing the Golden Rule and make it a challenge to treat others as you would like to be treated – and see what occurs over time. That is easier said than done and you won’t get it right all the time, however your life will improve over time if you stick to it continuously.

Observe your thoughts and track them. Are they leading you to creating hasty or emotional decisions? Poor decisions lead to unproductive actions which in turn down grade the quality of your life. Having broader awareness of this process is the key to finding happiness within. This happiness is in understanding you’ve got the methods to make rewarding life changes that can last.

The Lemurian Fellowship Philosophy

To help in learning how to be happy, the Lemurian Fellowship is a school of religious philosophy that provides instruction in applying universal laws to daily life in a practical manner. The teachings will help you to know how your personal problems came to be and what you are able to do to conquer them. Click here for a free downloadable booklet explaining the wonderful philosophy that makes up the lessons. The web site also has in depth and interesting reading on the history of Lemuria and the way this civilization is represented within the present.

Life is all about moving and breathing! If you’re often stuck in your boring old office, this is definitely something you should read to massively improve your life today! Now since there are 3 ways to do this, I have given you a lot of choice so enjoy the article!

Always keep your health in mind!

Whenever you do anything you should automatically be thinking about your health after doing it! Now don’t see this as something that will cause you not to do things that you want to do, but see it as a helpful guide of what’s good for your body and what’s bad… While sometimes bad things can’t be refrained from your body, you can put the work into making sure that you keep yourself healthy! Remember you only have one body in life, and if you look after your body well, it’ll look after you back!

3 Ways to truly maximise your life!

Before we get into the details I’d like to say that almost everything is good in it’s own balance, so too much of ANYTHING can be quite damaging for your life! I also want to share with you this awesome video which can really help you if you listen to it carefully!

Get moving! – Guess what!? Movement is life! So if daily you’re not moving with an immense smile on your face you can’t be living! Well at least you cannot be living very happily… Try this right now while you have time, grab some clothes, grab some trainers and go for a 10 minute run around the block. Now come back, and see how fantastic you feel for doing it! Of course you’ll be sweating like crazy if you don’t exercise much, however after 5 minutes you might even want to go for another run!

Plan out where you wan to go in life! – By setting out where you want to go in life, you’re really giving yourself meaning to live! Now if you’re one of those people who unfortunately don’t take control of where they want to go, someone else will do it for you and you might not like where you end up! So daily always make sure you know with confidence where you want to go, by writing down a list of goals wit the date of their achievement! Without the date of their achievement, goals are actually just dreams or aspirations!

Change what you think of yourself! – Now this is mentioned in one of this guy’s videos, but seriously by changing how you think of yourself you can achieve so much more! You personally at the moment (if you’re not a millionaire) think that it’s impossible for you to become one. However that’s only because of your your own self image! start today by changing your self image, and making so that you believe you can become a millionaire, and I can almost guarantee once you actually start believing you will succeed! That’s the power of the human brain!

Well thatnk you for reading my article today guys, and I really hope it heolped you a lot since I’m trying to improve my writing quality so you get more out of my articles! Please leave some feedback so that I can improve on what isn’t so great, and be happy about what is great about this piece of work here! Thank you!

After reading a Triond friend's article about writing, it inspired me to look at my own.

I recently read an article on Triond about writing articles, and one of the tips was not to let failure to , publish to become an obstacle, this made me look at one of my own articles that was denied publishing. It was denied because it was too alike other materials that are on the internet. Which to be honest, after reading it again, and searching for similar articles online, I agreed with them. You see the article was about my ten favourite quotes, after a quick search online I realised that there were a lot of articles out there about quotes, in-fact so many that my little article probably wouldn’t have been noticed anyway. But they were right, it was too alike, so I tried looking at it a different way.

Instead of just writing my favourite quotes I decided to go further and write the reasons, and it was then I realised that these could actually be turned into their own individual mini articles! So instead of having one article declined, I now a few mini articles, and I feel like I have achieved something instead of just letting a decline stop me, so something positive came out of it.

This reminded me of something, I have always tried to turn every negative into a positive, whenever anything happens I always try to see the good in it. Even if my first reaction is a negative one, I try to turn it around to a positive thought, as I don’t like having negative thoughts. Just like the other day when I slipped on the ice on my street, at first you can probably imagine what was in my mind, a load of strong and unprintable words, but then I thought, well its a good thing it happened to me, not somebody much older who could have been really hurt, for me it was just a bruise, for someone else it could mean a broken bone, or worse. So because it happened to me I then went and got some salt, so that the next person wouldn’t get hurt. Turning my negative reaction into a positive one made me feel a lot better, and possibly even stopped someone else getting hurt.

So the next time something happens, and you are not happy with it, try to see if you can turn it in to a positive thing. You will feel a lot better after having positive thoughts than you ever will with negative thoughts.

Recently the events in my life made me reflect upon this well-known saying - What goes around comes around. Some people call it karma. Some people call it retribution. Whatever it is, I began to ponder about people's actions (including mine) in life. Here's what happened.

When my husband told me that he has someone else, I was devastated. I fell into depression for a couple of months. During this period, I refused to be seen or heard. I dwelled in self-pity and extreme sadness. I just did not know what to do. I kept everything to myself. I did not know who to turn to.

After awhile, I told myself that I needed to be strong for my daughter. I picked myself up. I began to relate the matter to some close friends who gave me advice, sometimes instructions on what to do. Many told me to leave my husband. They were angry with him for his betrayal. But I stayed. What made me stay and where the strength came from to continue to tolerate his ill-behaviour, only God knows.

He was confused himself. He was aware of his responsibilities as a husband and father. But he wanted the comforts of the home as well as the thrill of having an affair. He wanted the best of both worlds. He began to lie to me. His lies became so big, he himself could not keep up with what he said. It was easy to catch him lying. My emotions went up and down as I learned the truth.

I stayed calm and thought about things a lot. As I deliberated my next steps, I became closer to God and prayed for strength and patience. I prayed that God show me the right path. I became stronger emotionally and spiritually.

My husband told me he wanted to have that woman as a second wife. I did not know what to do, since it is allowed in our religion. In addition, more bad news came. He told me that she’s pregnant with his child and he wants to be responsible for it. He asked me how I can help him to achieve this. Could this really be true? I was lost. Should I leave him? I continued to pray. Something nudged me to hold on a little bit longer. In the meantime, he continued to blackmail me with emotional torment, insinuating that I was not able to help him, even though I’m his wife.

During this time, I noticed that the other woman stopped contacting my husband. I thought this was rather strange. My husband also did not meet her anymore. He spent more time with the family. My feelings for my husband has waned and I just did not want to get hurt anymore. As I continued to be a good wife and mother, I remain emotionally detached from him. Then one day, my husband told me that he was going to see the other woman. I was angry and did not want him to go. But I could not stop him, of course. I told him I hope he finds the answer to his questions and we went our separate ways.

That night, I found out that the other woman has aborted the baby. I was relieved, in the sense that there were no more ties between him and the other woman. He was not able to torment me or force me to do what I refuse to do. My husband remained with the family and broke his relationship with the other woman. I was relieved, but still wary.

About three months went by, my husband surprised me when he told me that he has been played out by the other woman. There was no baby in the first place. I was shocked that this other woman lied about something so serious. And the one who had to suffer all the torment and insults was ME! But in my heart, I was telling myself. He used to lie to me. Now, the person who colluded with him, lied to him. Serves him right! What goes around comes around…

Life is so unexpected. We do not know what is ahead of us. Thus, even with adequate preparation, sometimes things do not go teh way we want it to. Upon reflection, you may find a particular decision you made earlier as being inappropriate. So what do you do?

Many people choose to regret the decisions they have made and continue to live in the past. These people could not move on, even though they may seem to continue breathing and moving along. It is a pitiful life to live if you continue to live a life, regretting all the wrong decisions you have made. You will keep thinking about them, but you will not move forward. So how do you live a life free of all regrets.

1) Make a Conscious Decision
Understand that every decision you make has to be done consciously. When you decide to do something instead of something else, you need to understand the consequences of your decision. Before making any decision, weigh the pros and cons. Then make a conscious decision. By making a conscious decision, you become aware of undertaking the responsibility to stick to your decision.

2) Live with the Decision
Once a decision has been made, it is important that you live with it. For example, if you have decided to take up a degree course on a part-time basis, then you will have to know that you would need to attend lectures and tutorials, prepare assignments and sit for examinations. You must set aside time to study. You must be prepared to feel tired, since you are doing this on top of the work you have at the office. If you have decided on this, then you have to live with the decision.

3) Reflect and Improve your Life
But what if things do not turn up the way you expected? For instance, you were retrenched and could not pay for the course fees. What do you do? Then it is time to reflect on your decision. Find a way to resolve your problem. If it is not possible to complete your degree course now, you may have to postpone it to a little later. If you encounter a situation whereby you are not able to continue with your degree course at all, then another decision need to be made – dropping out of the course.

To me, life is full of decision making. Every single day, we decide on what to wear, what time to leave the house, which route to take to work, what to eat for lunch, etc. In life, there are many bigger decisions to make which will affect us. Understand that you can make changes to what you have earlier decided upon. Life is a journey. Do not regret your initial decision; just make another one if it does not work out in the beginning.

Do you sometimes feel like a black cloud hangs over your head while the sun shines on those around you? Are you constantly finding yourself in the wrong job, with the wrong partners, and in some kind of conflict? Is there a nagging feeling inside you that is telling you that you aren’t doing what it is that you are supposed to be doing? If so, it’s very likely that you have overlooked the most simple solution. Perhaps all you need is to change your mind.

Sounds too simple, right? I can hear you out there, shouting, “Change your mind? Not this clap-trap again! Thanks for the advice but if it were as easy as that I’d have done it by now!” But don’t click that mouse off the page just yet – clicking off the page would be the OLD you, the one you don’t enjoy being, the one who has brought you searching for answers. Instead of clicking away from here, start the journey into the NEW you, and read on.

Thought is Your Only Constant

At the end of the day, when you put your head down on the pillow, what is the only thing there with you? Those thoughts – all of the day’s events and more, playing in your mind. If you were in the middle of a desert, not a thing around you, you would rely heavily on your thinking, wouldn’t you? Waiting in long line-ups, trapped in a stopped subway car, in the second hour of a boring meeting thoughts come to your rescue – or at least they CAN, if you let them.

Since thought is such a constant in your life, you’d better make sure that yours are working for you and not against you. Instead of running through the bad or worrying things – mistakes, errands, bills, lost loved ones, missed opportunities – run through all of the good things you’ve done and have to look forward to. Remind yourself of those aspects of who you are and what you want to be, and you’ll find that you fall asleep more easily, feel less anxiety, and even treat other people better, too.

Your Thoughts Are Your True Creation

Sure, society influences us to think in a certain way. Our parents and peers put ideas into our heads too. But you and you alone are the editor of what goes through your head. You can choose to keep or throw out any thought you like. Why not simply reject messages that intimidate or paralyze you? “I can’t because…” “I need to lose weight because…” “I’m trapped because…” “She’s better than me because…” Dump them! They are poisonous, toxic, non-sensical things to tell yourself.

To use myself as an example, I tell myself that I am enjoying the journey toward the person I want to become. I tell myself that I am smart and beautiful, talented and generous, smart and – boldly – I even tell myself that I can already see success in my future. Yes, I do relapse from time to time and guilt over some silly thing or other will creep in. But you know what? With practice these intrusions are becoming less and less often, and less and less powerful.

Squeezing Your Size 10 Thoughts into a Size 8 Life

Now that you’ve practiced thinking about yourself and your possibilities in a whole new way, you might start to notice that the people, jobs, habits and things that you have brought into your life start to feel incredibly uncomfortable. All this thinking has gotten you into a little bit of a jam. “But wait!” I hear you protest, “That’s precisely the reason I am reading this article in the first place! I was already uncomfortable and wanted things to change, remember!”

Yes, I remember. And I also know that you needed to take the necessary first step of changing your mind before you could have changed anything else. You couldn’t have just gone out and gotten a new job or a new partner and expected that to be any more successful than the situation you are currently in unless you first leveled with yourself about who you really are and what you really wanted. The old you would have found the old patterns again, and the cycle would have continued. Now that you get that you can manifest your own positive reality though.. now you are ready to replace what really isn’t working for you. Or maybe.. just maybe, the attitude shift was all you needed and you don’t want to make any other changes at all.

Your Size 8 Life friends might not ‘get’ you any more. Your job might feel a little meaningless. Your partner might seem difficult all of a sudden. You have to choose. Will your thoughts determine your actions, or will your inaction determine your thoughts? Are you going to keep trying to squeeze your Size 10 Mind into the Size 8 Life?

Putting Thoughts into Action

The most difficult leg of this journey to self-improvement is taking the deep breath, believing in yourself, and allowing your thoughts out of your head and introducing them into the 3-dimensional world. What are some of the 3-D results of your new mindset? Well, people who have put their positive thoughts into action have found themselves reporting some of the following:

I quit my job.

I am single again.

I exercise every day.

I am not a smoker anymore.

I volunteer my time.

I decided that happiness was more important than money.

People who do not have strong, positive feelings about themselves and the possibilities for their lives live in fear that they will someday have to make one of those statements. Why? Look at them again.. these are difficult statements to make. Difficult because if you make them it means they are true. And if they are true it means that you’ve actually done or are doing those things. And if you do those things, they have left the realm of thought and become real events. If your thoughts have become real events in your life, it means that you’ve manifested your intentions. For some, that’s too much responsibility, too BIG, too scary.

But not for you. You know now that you are in control of all of it – the fear, too. And you’ve overcome it.

Congratulations! You’ve increased your self-esteem and improved your life, all by just thinking about it.

These 15 activities can improve your life in a number of different ways, and the best thing is that none of them cost a penny.

Exercise

Exercise is a way to improve yourself both mentally and physically. If you don’t want to cough up the money for a gym membership, personal trainer, or expensive in-home weight set, try this simple full-body workout by performing these exercises:

Push ups

Crunches

Squats

You can find a plethora of free workouts and workout tips online. For instance, don’t have dumbbells? Use cans of soup, or a few old milk cartons filled with water.

Go to the Library

The library is a great resource that is often under utilized – and its free! The library has books, CDs, tapes, DVDs, and free access to computers. Picking up a book is a great way to entertain yourself and also tune up your reading skills. Your local library holds a vast amount of knowledge just waiting to be acquired!

Meditate

This is one thing that everyone should do to improve his or her quality of life. Meditation is often thought of as relaxation, which it is, but one can also gain insight into their lives by just sitting quietly and thinking. If you don’t want to think about anything, just sit there silently and count your breaths – this will help you immensely as well. Sometimes thinking about nothing can accomplish as much or more than having your mind full of thoughts.

Take a Walk

A walk can be a great way to relieve stress. Even if you are just going once around the block, taking a walk does wonders for your mood. You can walk to a place you need to go, or just walk with no destination in mind. The latter is often more relaxing.

Smile

Just the act of smiling will put you in a better mood. No matter what is going on in your life, you will feel at least a little better just by letting yourself smile.

Give Something Away

Generally, we all have too much stuff, and it can be overwhelming. Decide what you don’t need anymore, and give it away either to charity or a friend.

Volunteer

Volunteering doesn’t only improve your life, but also the lives of others. There are lots of ways to volunteer, you could do so on a regular basis with an organization or group you support, or simply stop into a place and donate a few hours of your time. Great examples of this are going in to the humane society to walk the dogs or signing up to help serve a meal at a homeless shelter.

Organize

Organize your living space – your desk, office, room, backpack, briefcase, kitchen, bathroom, closet, etc. Keeping things in order helps keep your life in order. A chaotic house leads to a chaotic mood when coming home at the end of the day, so take the extra time to keep things organized.

Ride Your Bike

Not only is this good exercise, but with the price of gasoline, taking your bike for those short trips can end up saving you a good deal of money. Riding a bike is also much less stressful than driving through traffic.

Hug Someone

Just hugging someone can immediately make your life better. We live in an age where contact with fellow humans is often avoided, but giving/getting a hug can instantly boost your mood by releasing good endorphins. Touch is a good thing.

Yoga

Practice yoga outdoors or in a large space in your own home. If you don’t know how to do yoga, you don’t need to sign up for an expensive class. Your local library should have books on yoga, or even DVDs to get you started. Yoga builds strength, flexibility, mental alertness, and also calms the mind, leaving you relaxed and fulfilled after a session.

Stop Procrastinating – Finish Something!

Do something you have been putting off for a while. It always feels good to get something over with, and finishing something you have been putting off is usually a good idea in general. As many wise people have said, “don’t put off till tomorrow what you could do today.”

Go Outside

Just taking a break from being in doors can change your mood in a positive way. Especially if it is a nice day out, go outside and read a book, watch the clouds, have a cup of tea, or just sit and enjoy being outside. Even if its raining you can have a good time – grab a friend, family member, or loved one, throw your inhibitions to the wind and go run around and dance in the rain!

Challenge Your Brain

Sudoku, logic puzzles, and crossword puzzles can be great ways to stimulate your brain. You also feel satisfied when completing them.

Write

Start journaling and write down your thoughts. Sometimes, getting your thoughts down on paper lets you analyze them more clearly, and worry about them less. If you are feeling creative, write a poem, or a short story, or just put your pen to paper and see what comes out. Drawing and painting can also be a great outlet. Even if you aren’t a spectacular artist, it feels good to doodle or create something of your own. Writing, drawing, and painting can be relaxing, and also give you a sense of accomplishment when you create something you really like.
