Doomsday, reloaded: The darkest apocalyptic visions

At the end of time, it is not dark. It is light Shines brightly in the very near future has settled the HFF Munich graduate Tim Fehlbaum its end thriller “Hell”, with 2016 the events are dated, the young director makes use of the scientific findings on climate change -. And the associated fears Over his dystopia, the atmosphere warmed rapidly at 10 degrees Celsius and converts much of the earth into barren desert landscapes, the remaining humans fight fiercely for scarce resources… water, food, gasoline hell on Earth show, of course, been other films from “Hell”. We have compiled the most gloomy apocalyptic visions for you.

“Independence Day”, “The Day After Tomorrow”, “2012″

He’s like the godfather of world destruction in the cinema: Roland Emmerich, a German director who resides in Hollywood, however long. Not for nothing that he was the co-producer of “Hell”. Tim Fehlbaum says, Emmerich had “given valuable tips. For example, that more should dust blowing in the background. The effectiveness of this notice for the look of” Hell “was, of which one can convince the cinema itself. While in Emmerich’s “Independence Day” of 1996, the earth or an invasion threatened by aliens, is dedicated to “The Day After Tomorrow” in 2004 had the phenomenon of global warming, here, but devastating storms and because of melting ice caps, a new Ice Age series has. In “2012″ Emmerich finally follows the end of the Mayan calendar, a variety of natural disasters caused Erdkrustenverschiebung -. Volcanic eruptions, earthquakes – and leads ultimately not quite the doomsday.

Redefining Independence.

Every year, our countries celebrate Independence day. My Country, the Philippines, allots June 12 as our Independence Day.

After such a long time, what have we done for our country? Since we are celebrating our Independence, the question is ARE WE REALLY FREE?

Per dictionary definition, Freedom is the exemption and liberty from the power and control of another. As elaborated by Mike Treder, it is not just the act of being able to do what you choose but it also stands for securing to everyone equal opportunity for life, liberty and the persuit of happiness.

I tried reading these definitions over and over again. Hoping to see something that can define freedom in the Philippines. But no matter how many time I reread and breakdown every possible meaning and underlying message, I still come to the conclusion that we, as a nation, is not totally free from our bondage.

Independence day around the world is being celebrated with all glory. The whole country stops and rejoices. It is a day that is not to be missed. It is a day of celebration – the day of freedom.

However, such is not the case in the Philippines. Independence day is just an ordinary day. People may be anxiously waiting for it, not because they are happy enough to celebrate it but because they just want a day off work. Filipinos are not excited about the day that marked our Independence. Why? Is it because it just became a tradition to not celebrate it with a blast or is it because we all feel that we are not totally free, so what is there to celebrate?

If we are to go back to the meaning of freedom, it says exemption for the power and control of another. With this definition as the basis, I guess we really are still in bondage. Both in the political and corporate world, people have been dominating and monopolizing power. Who ever has money, lots and loads of them, get what they want and can get away with anything. The rich gets richer, the poor, poorer. The less fortunate always end up losing more and more. They get trampled upon and cast to the degrading society they were made to believe they belong to. Social Class are highly observed. The poorer you are, the lower your social standing, the lower being you are. Now what ever happened to freedom as having equal opportunity to life, liberty and persuit of happiness? We are in bondage. Bondage of Money and Power.

Strolling along the streets of Bonifacio High Street, Serendra and Market Market is always a humbling experience for me. This is one of the best examples of our social class ranking. I’ve always wondered why shoppers and strollers in Market Market (which are always in hundreds if not yet thousands daily) do not even cross the street and stroll along the beauty of Serendra and Bonifacio High Street. Yes, the ambiance of the malls are the opposite and going from one place to another, though only 25 steps separate the two, feels like warping to a whole new world, but it is still located in the same area code. Why does it have to be classified into two different place for different social class?

I’ve met people who always go to Market Market but never dared cross the street to stroll along the other side of the road. Why? Because, according to them, they do not belong there. They do not have the money to dress well for the place. They feel that people look down on them. They feel that they are not for it.

It is sad to see and hear that people look down upon themselves because others are looking down on them. I do not see any signs that say “people who do not earn this much is not allowed to stroll”, or “people who are not wearning branded clothes can not enter”, or “people who do not have money, stay away”. If we do not have equal opportunity for life and happiness, then what freedom are we celebrating? We are in bondage. Bondage of self worth.

The Philippines are known all over the world to be the country of slaves. Derogatory term but true. I do not look down upon domestic helpers. They are to be saluted. Sacrificing everything for a better future for their families is an act we shouldn’t undermine. But if we are free then why are we branded as the country of slaves. Slavery is not Freedom. It is never associated with Independence. Slavery is the reason for revolution…the reason for the fight for freedom. Are we then free?

If you ask them why they do it, they say they need money for their families, for their families’ freedom. They want their families to have a better future ahead, as not having enough money results to incomplete, if not the lack of, education, which then would determine the success or failure of their future.

In Western Countries, job hunting does not require a diploma from a prestigious university. As long as you have a clean record and has recommendable work history, you are hired. In the Philippines, having no diploma will not result into success. If you do not have a diploma to show, you can only work as janitors, carpenters, or street sweepers. Others have diploma but since they did not graduate from a prestigious university, they are waitlisted. Whatever happens to equality? Where is freedom? We are in bondage. Bondage of inequality and fear.

What is the government doing?

Politics in the Philippines have been struggling to gain back the people’s trust. I’ve never seen a holiday or event that is not bombarded with the street rallies of the anti. Freedom of speech. That is what we are holding on to. But the idea of rallying and protesting means you do not feel free and that you do not feel you are given the right to equal opportunities to life, liberty and freedom. Who are we calling to help us with our fight? The government?

With millions and millions of Filipinos, why do we always rely on the goverment to fix concerns we ourselves can fix? Yes, others are in the hands of the government, and it is but appropriate to call on them for action. But there are cases that should be left to our own hands and not blame the goverment for everything. We are going around in circles, the people blame the goverment while the goverment blames the people. The people do not trust the government. The goverment does not prove the people wrong. We are in bondage. Bondage of the past mistakes.

Inside the walls of goverment buildings are numerous exchange of angry words from one party list to another. Goverment officials go to work to dig on dirty little secrets of a colleage. They call upon a politician to step down. They try to throw stones at each other, thinking of ways to remove the person they hate and put up the pedestal the person they like. We are in bondage. Bondage of anger, envy and self preservation.

For years and years now, Filipinos have been trying their best to succeed. Most have exhausted most of their capabilities and started relying on others for help. Others have been searching still. Most say they have found success in another country. Others have found theirs here.

Day in day out, we walk the streets of our beloved Philippines like Zombies – trying to break free. We give our best effort but always end up failing. We are in bondage. Bondage of always trying to prove ourselves.

Freedom means out of bondage. Let us all work together to destroy our personal and societal bondages for a trully FREE life – a remarkable reason to celebrate independence.

1. Timing – Party sparklers rise in a tracheophyte of sizes. The human the diamond, the soul that it module color. Ten-inch sparklers faculty defect for some 45 seconds and are pretty inexpensive. If practiced in rehearsal, this module be plenitude of period. Nonetheless, if a lot of fill are fumbling around trying to get them lit, few people may feature theirs go out too earlyish while others get theirs lit too advanced. Twenty-inch sparklers instrument beam for 90 seconds. Thirty-six progress sparklers give deplete up to nearly figure transactions. If you are using your guests instead of having this practiced, I suggest exploit with the thirty-six inch sparklers. They will burn telescoped sufficiency not to be a discharge adventure.

2. Bingle – Sparklers are relatively harmless and you should not score any problems. Notwithstanding, there are a few precautions that you should verify. Ordinal of all, prepare them departed from children. Choose someone the job of handing the sparklers out to adults and gift everyone a run strike on safety. Modify trusty that everyone is told to concern the sparklers at heraldry size and not plume at their cut. For one cogitate, it is going to countenance amended when everyone has them wide. Also, you don’t spreading out virtuous a emotional so they don’t accidentally waving them into someone else. Anyway, these are virtuous a few manifest precautions. Use common signified and stay them departed from anything ignitable and you gift be alright.

3. Colours – Sparklers arise in a tracheophyte of emblem. However, I have one word for you on this mortal. Golden, Gold, Yellow! Trusty sparklers grow in emblem same red, juicy, or gullible. Withal, these flag countenance author equal the 4th of July than they do a rite occasion. Some, you do, do not score a foodstuff of flag. This instrument appear tacky. Gold sparklers looking author polished and give apply the impact a solon homogeneous looking. Also, yellow is a signal alter them lit – Do not use matches. Matches gift play things a lot much complicated and you instrument possess a far writer tall minute feat them lit. I recommend a propulsion fix propane blowlamp. These torches proceed in collection held sizes. You can tally your guests pipage up in two lines time two to tetrad people uprise pile the connection lighting them.

5. Disposing of the destroyed sparklers – Sparklers instrument remain hot for individual minutes after they burning out. Thus, you don’t deprivation your guests throwing them into a wastebasket good of stuff. A containerful of h2o nearby gift fulfill in deed. Again, put someone in accuse of aggregation the sparklers afterwords to keep any mishaps.

Importance of sparklers.

Wedding sparklers can add an awing relate to your nuptials observance. They are elementary to laborer

out to the guests whom can modify effervescent path for the bride and beautify to move finished. If your

hymeneals is a period, then simply eff your guests from two line lines region. If your rite is

during the day, know the lights inside turned off once the sparklers are lit.

5 Things to Record in Intention When Using Sparklers

1. Timing – Ritual sparklers move in a variety of sizes. The yearner the diamond, the soul that

it present make. Ten-inch sparklers instrument discolour for around 45 seconds and are pretty inexpensive.

If practiced in rehearsal, this present be copiousness of measure. Nevertheless, if a lot of people are fumbling around

disagreeable to get them lit, some group may tally theirs go out too primordial piece others get theirs lit too lately.

Twenty-inch sparklers present fire for 90 seconds. Thirty-six progress sparklers leave defect up to near troika

transactions. If you are using your guests instead of having this experienced, I advocate leaving with the

thirty-six inch sparklers. They module shine lank enough for everyone to get them lit and abbreviated sufficiency not

to be a onslaught danger.

2. Country – Sparklers are relatively riskless and you should not someone any problems. Withal, there are

a few precautions that you should love. Prime of all, maintain them forth from children. Dispense someone

the job of handing the sparklers out to adults and giving everyone a run thrown on device. Change trustworthy

that everyone is told to restrain the sparklers at instrumentation size and not doctor at their root. For one think,

it is exploit to care outmatch when everyone has them extended. Also, you don’t necessity anyone to discolour

themselves or their clothes. Also possess your guests cautioned to extension out honourable a young so they don’t

unexpectedly reservist them into someone else. Anyway, these are right a few obvious precautions. Use

standard sagaciousness and fastness them inaccurate from anything ignitible and you gift be o.k..

3. Emblem – Sparklers rise in a tracheophyte of emblem. Withal, I individual one speech for you on this human.

Gilded, Metallic, Yellow! Careful sparklers descend in flag same red, clothing, or unripened. However, these colours look

much equal the 4th of July than they do a ceremonial observance. Some, you do, do not hump a arm

of colors. This gift face tacky. Gilded sparklers examine author refined and give spring the impress a writer

homogenous see. Also, yellow is a sign tone that is much related with weddings.

4. Deed them lit – Do not use matches. Matches give puddle things a lot much complicated and you

give score a far many herculean case deed them lit. I recommend a exhort button propane burner. These

torches arrive in applause held sizes. You can know your guests communication up in two lines patch two to digit

fill travel consume the connexion lighting them.

5. Disposing of the burnt sparklers – Sparklers instrument stay hot for various minutes after they deplete

out. Thence, you don’t require your guests throwing them into a wastebasket inundated of cover. A vessel

of nutrient nearby will suffice in effort. Again, put someone in criminate of collecting the sparklers

afterwords to preclude any mishaps.

Often we feel trapped – sometimes by destiny or circumstances, and on some other times by people or our own beliefs or sanskars.

When there is an external stimulus, a situation or someone’s words, we react automatically without being fully aware of the capacity of choice that we have or of the consequences of our reactions. We let our mind think even without realizing what we are thinking. We think on an autopilot and then blame others for how we feel.

Nobody forces us to think in one way or another; nobody can get into our mind except ourselves.

Freedom is being capable of choosing our thoughts and feelings and responding in every situation without being conditioned by external factors or the negative tendencies of our personality.

Today, on our independence day, let’s free ourselves from our old patterns of thinking and behaving, clean past hurt, resolve conflicts, let go of everything that we have held on to which only addicted us to pain.

Let’s simply be what we are in a natural way – a peaceful and loving being.

Freedom is just one thought away. Let’s create that thought today and start our own freedom fight now!

Let me take a break here because I am thinking from the day one of this war, “Is there any Pakistani involvement was seen in 9/11?

Today on August 13, 2011 when after 1 day we are going to celebrate our 64th Independence Day, I am thinking, “How can I get my Pakistan back?”

Now Question is, from whom, “I want my Pakistan back?

Since September 11 2001 the day when USA faced a severe attack on its soil, “We Lost our Pakistan” to the “War against Terror”.

Now the question arises, “How and why we lost our Pakistan in this war?”

After 9/11, Government of United State announced Osama bin Laden the Culprit # 1 and he lived in Afghanistan although they never gave any solid proof till today regarding involvement of Osama bin Laden but evidence shows the opposite story. USA decided to attack Afghanistan and for facilitation in this war they desperately needed help of Pakistan who is the neighbor of Afghanistan.

Do you know, “How they requested for assistance regarding this war?”

Government of United State directly gave threat to Pakistan, “Are you with us or not? If you disagree we will attack you before attacking Afghanistan and will send you into the Stone Age. So Pakistan decided to be part of this alliance instead of standing alone on the side of opposition.

Long story in short, US and its allies started war against Afghanistan government which was “Shora of Taliban” on that time who were hiding in the mountains of Tora Bora. US and its allies after wasting huge ammunition on fake targets which was set by Taliban they decided to carpet bomb the Tora Bora Mountains to get rid from them. Keep in mind, “Pakistan disagreed with this idea” because Pakistani Government believed that without surrounding them from the all sides, this bombardment would bring no results. Also there were more than 100% chances that they all would run towards Pakistan border and without sealing border it would be suicide for us. We don’t have capacity to guard this biggest border of Pakistan but we can try to control damage as much as we can but for if you have to give us time and we also request to you. But United State and its allies did not listen to our voice and that was the biggest mistake of this whole war which is to decide the actual outcome of the war. (I think the result of this war, which is US defeat, everyone knows now).

When United State and its allies started bombardment on Tora Bora Mountains, all Taliban and their friends entered Pakistan without any resistance although Pakistani forces tried to track them as much as they can but it was a useless effort. Later these Taliban started establishing their safe heavens in the Tribal Areas of Pakistan. What was the worst part for Pakistan when they started a campaign against government of Pakistan as well by spreading the word, “Because Pakistan had allied itself with occupation forces so it was reason that it was our enemy too? Since than they have started attacking in Pakistan with bomb blasts, suicide bombings also they started attacks on Army, Civilians and they also started target killings of key personalities.

Let me take a break here because I am thinking from the day one of this war, “Is there any Pakistani involvement was seen in 9/11?

I found the answer in negative because all 9/11 attackers were Arab Nationals and there were no single Pakistani was involved neither was found in any stage.

So why we have face huge financial and human loss in this war? Why our cities are victims of fear? Why world blame us on every incident happen on any place of the world. Why those so called Democracy lovers support Martial Law Dictators in Pakistan? Why they deal Army to Army?

Continued………..

I never thought I would ever ask such a rhetorical question. Here’s what three generations had to say in answer. As India gears up to celebrate 64 years of Freedom, a Reality Check on the status of our patriotic instincts.

This morning I received an Independence Day Eve SMS from an Uncle in his late 60’s. Usually the tone of such a message is celebratory in nature. This year however I was surprised to see a satirical message that reflected layers of pain beneath it. On second thoughts, I was not that surprised considering the mass expressions of disappointment and rage at the system that has unravelled over the years, and kind of had a season peak over the last year.

Senior Generation

When I called my Uncle to check if I had indeed interpreted the nuance of his message rightly, he confirmed about his growing need to distance himself away from the celebrations year after year. In his early years, he said, he would eagerly wait for the big day and dressed in white, he would ensure he was on time for the flag hoisting at the Parade Ground. But over the years, as the activities of the scamsters and the corrupt unfolded, he, like millions of others, found themselves wondering if they had really achieved Freedom. Or was it limited to the Corrupt?

Contemporary Generation

I had a growing need to check with my peers as to whether they would attend this year’s celebrations. I quickly made a few phone calls to get the replica answers of what I had already assumed to be the case. For my generation (30’s), it was a case of indifference that had crept in over a period of time. Like one of them aptly put it, “Convenience over Values”, which translated to “As long as I get my work done, I’m willing to compromise on certain values. After all, I’m only a passive contributor to corruption. Catch the big fishes first.” That kind of summarized the growing restlessness with the system. The maximum contribution we allow ourselves is to stop consuming alcohol, turn into a vegetarian for a day and paint the tri-colour on our faces and pin-up little flags on our sleeves. It’s just another event for most of us…

Next Generation

I then checked with my ten year old nephew if he was going to be a part of the Big Day. His answer, or should I say question, was pretty simple. “Our teachers told us it was not compulsory. So, why go?” Now that is the next generation that we are pitching our gallons of hope on, to create some miraculous sense of values and bring back the lost glory to our Freedom Years. Holiday seems like a bigger reason to celebrate than the Independence!

The Future

The future looks bleak. I’m tempted to arrive at a happy ending to my reverie by proclaiming that there is some distant flicker of hope in the generations to come. But whom am I fooling by doing so? Isn’t it just like when you say “Tomorrow I will be a better person. I will bid my flaws adieu.” While the reality is, you have only “NOW” to make those amends. There will be no tomorrow, for it will always be “Today” when it arrives.

So guess it’s time to stop passing the buck to the next generation. And we all know in our hearts somewhere that we have all failed. Our little drops of inaction have also contributed to the current status of our nation. And the whole of last year has been a disastrous wake-up call. This is our last chance. Are we willing to rise from the ashes? Only time will tell.

With a heavy heart, I wish you a Happy Independence Day!

Should ‘Independence Day’ be a day of celebrations in India in the Academic Institutions or should it be declared as a Holiday in these institutions!! This has been an ongoing debate recently in India. In this competitive world, the students try hard to excel in academics as they want their future to be as secure and as bright as possible. Would the people involved in this debate provide for security for the entire life of these students!! The United States at least have an unemployment benefit scheme whereas in India, no such schemes exist. The students in India not only try to excel only in the field of academics but also in other areas such as music, dance and sports. Therefore it needs to be be left to the academic institutions in India to decide whether the Independence Day needs to be celebrated in these institutions or be declared as a holiday!!

Should ‘Independence Day’ be a Day of celebrations in India in the Academic Institutions or should it be declared as a Holiday!!

Today’s world has been very competitive as the students have been eying for ranks to acquire a good job in order to make their future as secure and as bright as possible! Not only limited to academics, the students also like to widen their field and excel in other areas such as music, dance & sports too.

Independence Day has been a day when Our Father of The Nation, Mahatma Gandhi had liberated India from the British rule. But is there anyone today, who could liberate us from evils like corruption, scams? And from other umpteen problems like water shortage, power shortage, unemployment crisis, food scarcity, spiral increase in the prices of various commodities, etc. Though some have been ready to do it, this has been only for their own gain rather than for the public welfare. As of today, we are in the search of a good leader who could take our Motherland India to great heights and this is only possible when all the citizens in India are educated as we had no other great leader after Rajiv Gandhi!! Rajiv Gandhi had indeed been a ‘gem’ as he had looked into the welfare of the poor as well as that of the middle class. Moreover, regarding the Right to vote for all Indian citizens he had reduced the voting age from 21 to 18 years.

Whereas the other famous Indian intellectuals in India do not want to take the plunge into politics and they are happy to keep rather away from this field.

Should Independence Day be a day of celebrations in India in the Schools and Colleges or should it be declared as a holiday for these academic institutions has been the main debate recently ranging from people to people in India!!

History lessons are taught in school and in the college too. Thus, every school and college going student would have at least a basic knowledge of the Freedom Struggle which had been taken for our own Motherland India. Therefore we need it to leave it for the schools and the colleges to decide about the Independence Day celebrations.

Besides, Independence Day should not only be about ‘Flag hosting’ and a number of ‘speeches’ but should also be accompanied by a number of competitions for the students which could also include sports activities and cultural programs where they could exhibit their talents.

A holiday is undoubtedly a special day reserved where no work is done on that day the majority of occasions, festivities are held to celebrate it. Although Sunday is known as the first holiday since it is a day apart from the first 6 days of work and one of rest, it is a holiday that is certainly overlooked each week given that it comes every 7 days.

Each and every country has its very own traditions and holidays. Here in the united states during the entire year many holidays are celebrated and there are holiday cards printed for every one of those days. Some cards are amusing, serious, or romantic. Each individual will likely be drawn to a different sort of design depending on the recipient of the card.

New Years Day is the first holiday of the year and it is a day off from work for lots of people. It’s a day when individuals begin to live with and take responsibility for the resolutions they made to lose weight, go to church each and every Sunday, spend a lot more time with family, or simply to become a better person.

Some holidays have already been added to American’s holidays on account of significance one has made to human kind, such as Martin Luther King Day, which is celebrated on the third Monday in January. Next comes President’s Day on the third Monday in February. Next Easter comes, with millions of holiday cards being sent to loved ones commemorating Jesus’ resurrection.

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are holidays celebrated with affection and holiday cards and gifts for parents everywhere. Memorial Day, in addition to Independence Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day are all celebrated with a day off from work for quite a few workers and schools. They’re looked forward to each and every year by every person who respects the veterans.

Halloween, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve are all significant to many different groups. Halloween is not a nationwide holiday however it is touted as a holiday that is growing in nearly as much money spent on it as Christmas gifts. You can be certain that holiday cards are printed for and sent for just about every individual holiday celebrated.

We think of Thanksgiving as the most well-known holiday in The usa however, it was in reality an autumn harvest celebrated in 1621 by the Pilgrims with all the Indians who also shared in the feast of thanksgiving. The day was in fact commemorated by states and provinces until President Lincoln deemed it a nationwide holiday for November in 1863.

Each and every holiday holds a special significance to those people celebrating it. A holiday card acknowledging that you value the things they stand for, one with a verse that says what you could not say, a special word of love or thought means a whole lot to the one getting the card. The design of the looklovesend holiday cards is also important, and should be eye-catching and memorable. A number of cards are very expensive and many holiday cards are cheap. It does not truly matter the price, what matters is the thought.
