400 word Essay on Gandhi, Gandhi, Father, India, Essay.

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.” These are the words of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, or also known as “Father”, “Great Soul”, Mahatma, and many other loved names called by his brothers and sisters of India. Gandhi was a pre-eminent political ideological leader of India during “British Raj” or the Indian Independence movement, along with being a lawyer graduating from University of London in London.

Gandhi was born on 2nd October 1869 in Porbandar Gujarat, India. He was born in his ancestral home, which is now known as Kirti Mandir. His father Karamchand Gandhi belonged to the Hindu Modh community, served as the “diwan” or high official. His mother was Putlibai who came from the Hindu Pranami Vaishnava community, which was Karamchand 4th wife, after other 3 died after childbirth. His mother played the biggest role in Gandhi’s life, and the reason why he is a legacy now. Because his mother was a devout Jain follower Mohandas absorbed early the influences that would play the big roles and his principal guide he used in his adult life. At age 13 Gandhi was married to 14 year Kasturbai Makhanji. At age 15 they had a child who died in few weeks, but later had 4 other children: Harilal, Manilal, Ramdas, and Devdas. In 1888 Gandhi travelled to London, England to study law, and later earned his degree, and set off to South Africa to start his life as a lawyer.

When he went to Africa he had his first share of bitterness the Britain’s had towards Indians. One day travelling on a train Mohandas bought a first class ticket. As he travelled he heard many other people all from Britain complain of him being on first class even though he had paid for the ticket and wasn’t even bothering them yet say a single word. Yet Gandhi at the next stop was throw roughly out of the train, and learned why others were telling him to stay away from the whites, and other tips. This was where Gandhi started his movement and got it really going for India.

After the incident in South Africa Gandhi made a vow in front of his mother and a monk at the Jain temple he would uphold his mother’s tradition and not eat meat, live celibate life, no alcohol, and other customs. This was where Gandhi really thought for the first time that he wasn’t happy with his career of a lawyer. So he thought why not be a political ideologist, and help India become free because the treatment from the Britain people wasn’t fair and so on.

While all the political, work, and other work matters came into Gandhi’s daily life he sort of forgot his duty as a parent, and husband that he forgot about his children. So with having problems at home, work, and everywhere Gandhi sometimes forgot his top priorities, but for the sake of India he thought all this was necessary. His oldest son Harilal even to show hate, and pain to his father became an alcoholic, prostitute, and did other bad deeds against what Gandhi believed. It came to such a point that he said “Harilal isn’t my son anymore; he is dead to me…”

After his tribulations of marriage, and raising children in South Africa, he came back to India with renewed hope, power, and support. In India Gandhi started his real politics, revolts, and fight for a change and Independence. Gandhi believed nonviolent noncooperation was the best way to bring change and independence to India. Instead of revolting and actually getting physical he would use his words to strengthen his people and keep on pushing for a change. He led multiple protests, marches, and urged boycotts. One of the most famous ways of his boycotting was going to jail deliberately, and hunger strikes. This way Gandhi was able to almost change all the new acts passed and send them back. Here Gandhi also, picked up a more or higher religious calling called brahmacharya. He increased his religious followings, and made his harder by have to females support him where ever he goes.

The beginning of the end was seen soon after British partitioned India into two. The two parts were India and Pakistan. The reason was to separate Hindus and Muslims. Muslims in Pakistan, and Hindus in India. Later on in 1947 after WW-II British gave independence to India. This was a day of celebration, peace, and joy. But this celebration was short lived as tensions now grew between Muslims and Hindus.

In 1948 tensions became so high between the two religions that bloodshed began, and the Muslims were chased in to Pakistan without food, water, or shelter. This had devastated Gandhi because he hoped for his acts, and plans to unite Hindus, Muslims, end discrimination, and promote education and economic development for India as one.

Then came January 30th, 1948. At the age of 78 Gandhi went out to do his daily prayers, and worship. On his way out he was faced by a Hindu extremist that seemed to be like any other normal guy, buy turned out to be a killer. He shot Gandhi as he was about to touch his feet (an Indian way of blessing) he pulled out his gun and fired four shots into Gandhi’s body.

Though Gandhi has died, his legacy continues. Many well known people such as Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr. and many other notable people still follow and take Gandhi as a guide. For instance MLK had said “Christ told me what to do, and Gandhi showed me how to do it.” As Gandhi says nonviolence noncooperation is the best way for changes others wise “An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”

News.

Many Indian nationals consider Hindi as their mother tongue. This is taken into consideration as the national language. There are several people who are speaking other languages as well. However, Hindi is spoken in a larger region. News is telecasted by various news channels in English. This cannot reach out to large number of people. As Hindi news is very much in demand in major parts of India, appreciation is given to it. They have started telecasting it few news slots in Hindi as well. Understanding anything in the mother tongue is very easy. Thus, this fact is not denied by various news channels as well. Jharkhand is a state that lies in the east of India. There Hindi is spoken by a majority of people. There are various newspapers in that area through which Jharkhand news is presented exclusively. The same is true in case of Haryana. The regional newspapers there provide Haryana news exclusively. One can access Himachal Pradesh news as well.

Hindi news has become a part and parcel of majority of Indian people. They can easily grasp the information better. They can get very well conversant with the Hindi language. The programs that are telecasted in this regional language can reach out to the rural people as well. They can get education as well. Many people in rural India will know only Hindi language. News of a particular region is presented in various types such as education, politics, culture and sports. This is presented in great detail. A person who resides in Jharkhand will have an eagerness to know what is happening in that area. The same is the case with other states as well. People from Haryana will like to know Haryana news. People from Himachal Pradesh will like to know about Himachal Pradesh News.

There has been a great demand for the local channels and news papers as they provide all the aspects of various events as well as the locality details. Hindi news editions are kept by some newspapers in spite of English newspapers being present. This fact is same in case of TV channels as well. Jharkhand news, Haryana news and Himachal Pradesh news is provided by various portals. However, national level news such as politics, sports and movie can also be obtained. There is a unity among the local people from rest of India when the national news will reach them. There is obviously lot of unity in diversity in India.

With each passing hour, 300 children die from malnutrition and a quarter of children on earth have access to enough food to develop properly, says a new report.

Worldwide there are 170 million children under 5 years whose development is affected by malnutrition. In Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Peru and Nigeria (countries hosting half of malnourished children in the world), rising prices for food compel parents to reduce food rations for their children already affected by famine.

The report A Life Free from Hunger ( A life without hunger ), that address malnutrition globally, one third of parents surveyed said their children complain that not enough food. One in six parents can not afford to buy meat, milk or vegetables. This explains why six out of ten children in Afghanistan do not get enough food to avoid problems of normal growth slowdown.

The report notes that, unless measures are taken in the next 15 years half a billion children have physical and mental problems of hunger. In the last five years, food prices increased worldwide due to extreme weather conditions, food speculative transactions, the use of arable land for crops for the production of biofuels and the global financial crisis. The most serious is that those most affected are poor people whose income is not large enough to buy necessary food.

25% of parents of the investigated states were forced to cut food rations for the family, and one in six parents were forced to withdraw their children from schools to send them to work. Food prices in Afghanistan increased by 25% in 2011 and 40 percent in Kenya. In India, half the children have growth problems due to malnutrition.

Save the Children campaign describes malnutrition as a “silent killer” because often, it is not registered as a certified cause of death, which leads to a lack of action by the world. If we intervene early, problems of physical and mental slowing, due to malnutrition, can be directed.

At 7 months, Mohammed Jan, a boy in northern Afghanistan, was only half the weight of an ordinary child. Fortunately, he was taken by a volunteer and sent to hospital Khulm near Mazar-e-Sharif, but it is an isolated case. Many children in similar situations fail to survive.

Although one third of children die from malnutrition, the problem is not as well publicized as AIDS or malaria. In the past 11 years, malaria deaths fell by one third, while cases of malnutrition in Africa fell by only 0.3 percent per year.

More than 30,000 children in Afghanistan die annually from malnutrition. However, most children affected by this problem, almost 85% of them do not die, but neither can develop normally.

From an economic perspective, malnutrition affects developing countries in transition. Bank estimates that malnutrition reduces World GDP in developing countries two to three percent, since these children have problems that make them have an IQ of 15 points lower than other children.

While using the world's two fastest growing economies and 60% of the world's population, Asia is seeming to be arguably the most important market in world trade.

While using the world’s two fastest growing economies and 60% of the world’s population, Asia is seeming to be arguably the most important market in world trade.

The Asian economy is the most important continental economy on the planet. The greatest players hp2-z22 within Asia, as outlined by GDP, are Japan, China, India and Mexico. China has largest economy of the people and possesses emerged as the second largest on the globe (you should definitely like the EU) behind the united states even though it is anticipated that it’s going to soon overtake and claim top spot. Japan, for a long period Asia’s financial superpower has become second whilst India, with regards to purchasing power, may very well be the 3rd largest.

The might with the Asian economies may appear as being a fairly modern invention nevertheless for a lot of European antiquity and up before 19th century countries such as China India were the prominent economic powers on the globe. A lot of their success then as now leaned on their plentiful natural resources, a similar resources which tempted European colonisation which often stunted Asian economic power prior to the 20th century.

Asia is a very various and disparate continent and so the main element economic drivers differ substantially across it, 70-290 somewhat in relation to the geography of each locale. The emerging superpowers of China and India are, as well as much of central Asia along with the subcontinent, largely reliant from the industrial and manufacturing industries fuelled by their large workforces and extensive resources. An upswing of both China and India has followed an easing in the socialist governance of these two countries which includes unlocked the possible from the massive labor forces and natural resources that each country has.

In Japan and Mexico conversely, although industry still plays major role, the economies tend to be developed and varied and success is usually particularly reliant around the financial and service sectors. Both countries experienced post war booms – Japan after the Second World War and The philipines following the Korean War – and are now discover several of the world’s leading multinationals, especially in the field of consumer electronics and cars. hp2-z20 The achievements each economy followed close cooperation between government, banks and business with heavy investment and enthusiastic research into high-end technology.

The financial services are integral to the economies of smaller but prosperous Se Asian states for instance Hong Kong and Singapore (jointly Columbia and Taiwan referred to as Asian Tigers because of their rapid economic development in your second 1 / 2 of the twentieth century). Both the states are free trade ports which may have grown their economies from the adoption of western capitalist principles, international trade and low taxation. They have two with the world’s most crucial stock markets using the Hong Kong securities market the planet ’s six largest by market capitalization.

The enlightening the center East states is mostly commodity based with oil for example being key to their prosperity since its discovery in Iran in 1908. Areas is home to the most significant proportion on the world’s known oil reserves and as a result relatively small Gulf States such as Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain have been able to rival the more expensive economies of Turkey and Saudi Arabia many of the people economies will have the a number of the highest GDPs per capita on the globe (Qatar’s, the best, stands at 88,232 US$).One of the greatest challenges facing modern Parts of asia may be the distribution of these wealth. In middle east despite being oil rich and having some of the highest GDPs of each person in Asia, high of the wealth remains in the hands of a minority inside the upper echelons of society. Whereas, from the vast countries of India and China the length of their economies is essentially considering, but greatly offset against, the size of their populations sharing while they do 2.5 billion people together (on the third on the world’s total). Subsequently their GDP of each person stands at just 3,417 and 7,518 respectively in comparison to the region’s other large 1z0-554 economies of Japan (32,817) and Columbia (30,200), whilst another successful financial and trading nations in the South East are like that regarding Hong Kong and Singapore.

Asia has very different and complex economy with varying sectors from oil to financial services to electronics. In most one it is a major player and heading to the 21st century increasingly being known as the most important player so there is probably not a greater time and energy to learn more about committing to Asian Investment.

Bangalore-based not-for-profit organization, Janaagraha,
has developed Reed, a framework it says will be the defining aspect to bring
about change in India

By Francis Adams.

Amidst all the lament, criticism and anger directed at the lack of effective
action by successive governments in India to improve the quality of life of
all citizens, is Janaagraha (janaagraha.org), a Bangalore-based not-for-profit organization
that is committed to “work with citizens and the government to improve the
quality of life in Indian cities and towns.” (See: http://bit.ly/pwseI6)

Janaagraha, which translates into moral force of the people, says that the
term ‘quality of life’ “has two distinct and inter-related aspects. The
first is ‘quality of urban infrastructure and services’ – the quality of
urban amenities, i.e., roads, drains, traffic, transport, water supply,
etc. The second aspect is the ‘quality of citizenship’ – the role that urban
residents play by participating in civic issues.”

The organization, which has attracted US$3 million in funding over three
years from United States-based global philanthropic investment firm Omidyar
Network — an investment firm established by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and
his wife Pam — says that “Reed is an acronym for four defining aspects of
urban governance”:

Regional perspective to urban issues

Empowered citizens and local governments

Enabled citizens and local governments with

Direct accountability of the government to the people

                                Regional perspective to urban issues

Janaagraha says that “no problem can be looked at in isolation and this is
true of urbanization as well. Any city is always a part of a larger region
with many interconnections. The rural hinterland surrounding most Indian
cities is an important part of the city landscape as well as its economy. It
becomes essential to take a regional perspective into account while planning
for a city. For example, when we plan for our city’s transportation we must
keep in mind the developments in the sub-urban and regional areas around our
city.”

Incidentally, a regional perspective to urban planning and governance was
first adopted by the Planning Commission of India as early as its Third
Five-Year Plan (1961-66), in which it said: “Concerted efforts will be made
to prepare master plans and regional development plans of metropolitan and
industrial cities and resource regions.” (See:
Chapter 33.5 “Housing and urban and rural planning”
http://bit.ly/ziiQCM )

Under point 30, titled “Preparation of master plans”, it said: ”In
redeveloping existing cities and building up new towns, it is of the utmost
importance that the regional approach should be followed.”

More than a decade later, the Fourth Five-Year Plan (1969-74) intensified
its approach to urban planning with a regional perspective. Under point
19.5, Chapter 19, titled “Regional development, housing and water supply”,
the plan stated: “Reference may be made here to some important problem
relating to future development of Indian cities. In most of the rapidly
growing cities, the limits of corporations or municipalities do not coincide
with the appropriate planning areas. It is necessary to create larger
planning regions and to provide by law that such plans formulated by the
regional authority are implemented by the local authority or authorities.
(See: http://bit.ly/yXfwrH )

The Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2007-2012), with quicker, inclusive and
holistic growth as its main objective, finally looked at urban challenges in
the global context. “The regional development plans at the State level need
to be formulated as a broad policy and vision document for the development
of urban and rural growth centres in an integrated manner,” the Plan said.

We are already more than a month into 2012, the final year of the Eleventh
Five-Year plan and have progressed imperfectly, considering the goals
outlined in successive Plans. The situation has prompted experts to say that
we need implementation of a well-made master plan.
(See: “Planning networked infrastructure” http://bit.ly/n2in6C )

However, initiatives, such as, the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal
Mission (JNNURM), Urban Transport including Metro Projects, Swarna Jayanti
Shahri Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY), and Interest Subsidy Scheme for Housing the
Urban Poor (ISSHU) have been implemented in phases, providing some solace to
the urban chaos that we are living in currently.

The Eleventh Five-year plan has even outlined the vision and strategy of the
policy makers.

According to the vision statement “Indian cities will be the locus and
engine of economic growth over the next two decades, and the realization of
an ambitious goal of 9 – 10 percent growth in GDP depends fundamentally on
making Indian cities much more livable, inclusive, bankable, and
competitive.”

The strategy:

. Strengthening urban local bodies through capacity building and better
financial management.

. Increasing the efficiency and productivity of cities by deregulation and
development of land.

. Dismantling public sector monopoly over urban infrastructure and creating
conducive atmosphere for the private sector to invest.

. Establishing autonomous regulatory framework to oversee the functioning of
the public and private sector.

. Reducing incidence of poverty.

. Using technology and innovation in a big way

Going by media reports, the first big stride toward such an approach seem to
have been taken by Gujarat. The Economic Times reported that the Gujarat
International Finance Tec-City (GIFT), being constructed over an area of
886 acre and at a cost of Rs 72,740-crore, “will have a financial
services-based multi-services SEZ, a centre for domestic financial sector,
corporate offices, regional offices of companies, a trade centre, housing
colonies, social infrastructure and other amenities. The project
is expected to create 10 lakh new jobs in 10 years.”

An editorial has exhorted other states to follow or emulate the GIFT
strategy even for bigger, existing cities. (See: “Building a future”:
http://bit.ly/wfIgPQ ).

What is not known is whether the project conforms to the inclusive and
holistic growth vision of the policy makers and whether it has been planned
in an integrated manner, involving affordable housing for both the urban and
rural poor and has instead not displaced them.

                                 Empowered citizens and local governments

Janaagraha says “the roots of democracy in urban India need to be deepened
by giving a formal voice to urban citizens in local decision making. A
formal platform for citizen participation, called Area Sabha, at a polling
booth level is not just desirable but essential for effective urban
governance.

Local government bodies should be nurtured to carry out those functions
which are currently being done by the State. This can be done through the
processes of decentralisation and devolution of State functions as guided by
the 74th Amendment of the Constitution. This will empower local bodies to
solve problems arising out of their own jurisdiction.”

The term “Empowered citizens” today has evolved from the pressure groups
that are so common in India. The roots of democracy in urban India can only
be deepened by encouraging citizens to participate in local decision making,
such as helping Urban Local Bodies formulate authentic, transparent and
holistic plans for development of the region, act as mediators between the
civil society , the ULBs and the policy makers at the state and central
levels, act as the society’s watchdogs in curbing corruption and wrongdoing
by the ULBs.

The Right to Information Act has already empowered citizens, especially the
tax payers, to seek information on the proper utilisation of public funds. A
recent court ruling allowing citizens to seek sanction for prosecuting
erring public servants has added to their empowerment. (See:
http://bit.ly/zoKI48 ).

                               Enabled citizens and local governments

“Empowering the local governments with necessary functions is necessary but
not enough. In order for the municipalities to perform their functions
effectively, they need to be enabled with the right kind of resources -
suitably qualified and skilled human resources, sufficient financial
resources and management support systems like modern technology tools,” says
Janaagraha.

“As with local governments, citizens also need to be enabled with platforms,
skills and tools to participate effectively. Citizens need tools that help
them objectively assess the performance of their local governments and their
elected representatives in order to take collective action,” it says.

The Planning Commission of India’s Eleventh Five-Year Plan has discussed the
matter of enabled citizens and local government extensively.

The plan has quoted the 74th Constitution Amendment Act, the CAA, saying
“The CAA has empowered elected representatives and community leaders with
decision-making powers through institutional frameworks such as Ward
Committees, MPCs, and District Planning Committees. Now from a ‘top-down’
approach, the emphasis has thus shifted to the ‘bottom-up’ approach” and the
need for an “independent regulatory institution with professional urban
managers at the State level to ensure that the ULBs operate with autonomy
but within the framework decided by the independent regulatory institution.
It can decide parameters such as framing minimum and maximum limits for
various types of local taxes, fees, user charges, administrative
expenditure, etc. Setting up the regulatory institution can go a long way in
improving the performance of local bodies in delivery of civic services to
people.”

The Tenth Five-Year Plan (2002-2007) has an elaborate feature on the status
of Urban Local Bodies. It has delved into matters such as, preparation of
plans for economic development and social justice, the need to improve the
financial position of municipal bodies as well as “integrated and
coordinated planning for urban and rural areas by various agencies involved
in providing civic, transport, economic and social services.” (See:
http://bit.ly/yjnjwZ ) .

The Eleventh Five-Year Plan added an important element: Municipal Bond
Markets. It said: “The advantages of using municipal bonds to finance urban
infrastructure are increasingly evident in India. The Indian Bond Market is
becoming vibrant. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation issued a first historical
Municipal Bond in Asia to raise Rs 100 crore from the capital market for
part financing a water supply project.”

The nurturing of local governments to carry out functions in a technically
and financially equipped manner has been suggested by the Plan as a
strategic goal, involving: Strengthening urban local bodies through capacity
building and better financial management; increasing the efficiency and
productivity of cities by deregulation and development of land; dismantling
public sector monopoly over urban infrastructure and creating conducive
atmosphere for the private sector to invest; establishing autonomous
regulatory framework to oversee the functioning of the public and private
sector; Reducing incidence of poverty; and using technology and innovation
in a big way.

With a futuristic goal in mind, what more requires to be done is equip all
police stations, municipal bodies and other agencies with computer networks
that can be of help to any citizen of India using Aadhaar, the unique
identification card developed by the Unique Identification Authority of
India (UIDAI).

Direct accountability of the government to the people

Direct accountability, according to Janaagraha, “can be achieved through
certain institutionalised mechanisms: first, by having inclusive and formal
platforms of citizen participation such as Area Sabhas, which are essential
for citizens to engage with their local governments on an on-going basis and
demand accountability; and second, through the Public Disclosure law of the
JNNURM which requires Urban Local Bodies to release their financial
statements on a quarterly basis. Here, participatory budgeting is a good
tool for prioritisation of issues by city stakeholders based on local
needs.”

The Tenth Five-Year Plan, although recognizing the fact that direct
accountability can be achieved through certain institutionalised mechanisms,
lamented that “Participatory management is still a relatively novel concept
as bureaucratic approaches insulate public functionaries from public
scrutiny or accountability.”

The Eleventh Five-Year Plan improved upon the lament by emphasizing that
“E-governance encompasses the strategic and systematic use of modern ICT by
the government to improve the efficiency, transparency, and accountability
in its functioning and interface with citizens.”

The policy makers also need to further look into development strategies
advised by experts to be at the right side of accountability. (See:
http://bit.ly/A82YVe ).

Role of Civil Society and Quality of Life

Janaagraha feels that “Civil society institutions effectively link people
and they help in bridging gaps between the felt needs of citizens and
delivery of government services. Civil society institutions do not replace
the rightful role that democratic institutions play; but support in enabling
transparency and better governance by playing the role of advisors,
watchdogs, and catalysts in promoting equitable, sustainable & inclusive
development.”
Civil Society institutions have increasingly responsible and challenging
roles to play in a diverse democracy as India. With 1.20 billion of citizens
segregated by 22 official languages and 35 States, these institutions are
the important link between the citizens and delivery of government services
as they are committed to democracy and its offshoots such as, equal
opportunity to all, freedom of expression and now ensuring transparency and
better governance.

Janaagraha says that “aspects that define the quality of life are access to
drinking water, availability of sanitation and sewerage systems, public
transport, toilets, roads, healthcare, education, reduction of poverty,
public spaces like parks, land & housing among others. All of these are not
provided to any level of acceptability for the average citizen. Solutions
to urban problems require systems based approach to take a holistic view
which allows:
Specific interventions both from government and civil society to improve
specific aspect of urban governance: Assessment of the quality of urban
governance in a city/ region; Systemic approach for provision of
infrastructure and services; The Eleventh Five-year Plan has focused on
three important factors: drinking water, the urban poor and affordable
housing.

On drinking water, the Plan has said that an “Accelerated Urban Water Supply
Programme (AUWSP) was launched in March 1994 to provide safe and adequate
water supply to towns having population less than 20000 (as per 1991
Census), to improve environment and quality of life, and to bring about
better socio-economic conditions to sustain the economy.”

On the urban poor: “A large number of workers engaged in the urban economy
as self-employed in the informal sector, regular low wage/salaried workers,
and casual workers fall in the category of the urban poor. They play a role
in wealth creation, development of infrastructure, and providing a quality
of life to the urbanites. However, they have themselves been denied shelter, basic urban amenities,
healthy urban environment, and a dignified life.”

On affordable housing: In order to improve the quality of life in urban
areas, it is of critical significance that the housing stock is improved
through urban renewal, in situ slum improvement, and development of new
housing stock in existing cities as well as new townships.

The Mid-Term Appraisal of the Plan, has however, raised positive hopes for a
better future and quality of life for citizens. It has identified the
objectives of the JNNURM and along with it, formed programmes such as the
Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG); Basic Services to the Urban Poor
(BSUP); Urban Infrastructure and Development Scheme for Small and Medium
Towns (UIDSSMT); and the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme
(IHSDP).

It is also encouraging to note that the mid-term plan has committed to
mandatory reforms, at the state and the ULB levels, apart from a few
optional ones. (See: http://bit.ly/wcDT6N )

Hezbollah the terrorist organization carried out a terror attack on a Israeli diplomats wife in a car.

Terror has come to Delhi from the Middle East. Earlier India had only to contend with terror attacks from Pakistan, but now India is the play ground of Hezbollah and Iran. This is a dangerous portend for the future as Hezbollah has a close association with the terror groups in Pakistan like the Lashkar-e taiba and the Kashmir Muslim insurgent groups and terrorists.

The Israeli diplomats car carrying the wife of a diplomat, a 42 year lady was attacked by a magnetic bomb, that exploded when thrown by a motorcycle borne terrorist. The lady who had just returned after dropping her children in school is in a critical condition in the Ganga Ram Hospital.

The terror attack appears to be the handiwork of the terror group Hezbollah. It appears as claimed by Israel, that Iran may also have a hand in this. In case this is proved trues the dangers for the Indian state will mount, as such attacks will now occur more frequently. This is so as India is perceived a soft state.

Israel has vowed revenge and Iran has as usual accused Israel of telling lies. But the fact is that Iran is following a dangerous path that is fraught with grave consequences. The US carrier task force is in the Persian gulf and Israel is flexing its muscles. the stars don’t look to bright for Iran.

Hezbolah by attacking a defenceless lady has shown that its is a terrorist organization cast in the Gestapo mold and sooner the Indian state grapples with it the better.

I was appalled to read in the UK Daily Express recently that we have been giving £280 million a year to India for “aid”.

Taj Mahal, India

Don’t get me wrong, I have no objection at all to us helping out other countries, even though we’re in pretty dire straits ourselves here in the UK. The thing that gets my goat is the fact that India have said they don’t want the money but the UK have insisted they take it!

The good, honest people of India, instead of grasping it with both hands, actually turned down the offer that had been foisted upon them and India’s finance minister, Pranab Mukherjee even went so far as to say it was “a peanut” that wasn’t needed as India’s economy was growing with some speed and would, in all likelihood, overtake our own in the not too distant future.

Pranab Mukherjee

There are people here desperately trying to make ends meet; homes are being repossessed, our public services and our forces are being cut back, our government benefits are being “trimmed” which means that the less well off members of our society are suffering which, in turn, affects the disabled, lesser paid adults, particularly those with families to support, and the elderly.

It’s also been revealed that this year we’ve set aside a budget of £8.1 billion for foreign aid in general and this is due to rise to an incredible £11.5 billion in 2015. We’ve always been inclined to help out other countries in their hour of need but, with our coffers almost down to rock bottom, it’s utterly ludicrous to give part of this budget to a country that’s already said it doesn’t need it, thanks very much.

As you can imagine, the revelation has upset numerous MPs and, of course, us hard strapped tax payers.

By all accounts, the Indian economy is growing by 10% a year and, within the next 10 years will overtake that of the UK. In fact, India has set up its own aid budget to help out struggling countries so presumably in a couple of years time India will be helping to dig the UK out of a financial hole!

The International Development Secretary, Andrew Mitchell, has said, in defence of the “donation” to India “there are states the size of Britain where half the children suffer from malnutrition”. That may well be true, but if the Indian government have stated they now have plenty of money in their bank vaults I’m assuming some of this will eventually find its way to support lesser well off people. If that isn’t the case, then rather than pump more money into an obviously financially stable government, wouldn’t it be more sensible to filter some of the money through to charities such as the Red Cross, Oxfam, Save the Children, Age Concern, etc etc so that they can actually get the money direct to those people that need it most?
