Find a Place to Study.

Find a Place to Study

Figuring out a time and place to do your homework and study is of the utmost importance. Once you have figured out when to do your homework, the next question is where to do it.

A good study area should have a desk or table big enough to spread out books, notes, worksheets, etc. without them all being on top of each other. You do not want to make a mess, but you also do want to have ample room to work.

Make sure you have plenty of light. Ideally, you will near a window with an overhead light and perhaps even a small reading lamp.

Most important in choosing a study location is finding a place that is relatively free from distractions. That means no TV on in the room, no brothers or sisters running by, no phone conversations to listen in on, and no instant messenger or emails to keep you busy.

Whether or not you listen to music while you study depends on your personal preference. You may choose to ignore any phone calls, or turn off your cell phone, and forget about the urge to go and get a snack every ten or fifteen minutes.

Depending on your home, you may be able to find this area at the kitchen or dining room table, or in your bedroom. You may be able to set aside a study space in your basement or an office in you home. Some people find their homes too filled with distractions, and prefer to take their studies to the local library.

Wherever you choose, it is best if you can study in that same place all the time. If you can study in this same location consistently, your mind will get used to this being a focused and important place. When you enter this area, you will know it is time to get down to business. Your pens and pencils, paper, erasers, stapler, calculator, and anything else you use often can be kept nearby. Also, you can keep them in a bin or bag which can be pulled out whenever you need them. This will avoid having to stop studying to collect supplies.

Having this dedicated study spot will help you get down to business and focus more easily on getting your work complete.

Do you think as to long distance relationship will work out.

Everyone has their own point of view about the relationship. Some of us think, short distance relationship will make more sense rather than long distance relationship. As known long distance make mis communication between couples, some people agree that long distance relationship may not work but some of them are show green flag. The couple does not get chance to each other often so it is important to make a strong emotional connection between the couple. Also it is good to share everything and not to avoid hide things out. Apart from that better to have touch very often through instant messenger, emails, telephones and facebook messages, this can lead them to believe as they are thinking of them so often. The important is to make them happy for example send small gifts, cards and etc for without reasons. The long distance relationship may work if the couple trust each other and dedicate them selves for their future.

Will there be a day where snail mail is forgotten?

Snail mail is similar to an email, where a mail parcel is delivered by the postman to recipient’s mailbox. The key difference is, snail mail/parcel is the actual physical mail form where the item delivered is tangible, real.

About snail mail…

Way before email, instant messaging and other social networking platforms for sending messages exist, snail mail was the one of the few available methods for people to keep in contact with pen pals, lovebirds and for businesses to manage their business process

Other than communication needs, snail mail is also required for delivering physical items ranging from accessories to apparel, stationary to electronic good etc.

However, recent years has seen that snail mail for communication is quickly replaced by email, instant messaging, etc

Why? Some of the drawbacks faced by snail mail…

1. With distance, it means that snail mail will takes time to reach, unlike email or instant messaging which is immediate. This makes communication efficient and instant.

2. Cost will differ based on mail’s weight and location. Email and instant messaging are free. (Excluding the cost of the internet provider subscription) Even sending a mobile text to worldwide are made affordable.

3. Lost mail due to unforeseen circumstances

However…

No doubt the need for communication via snail mail has decline over the years. But with the introduction of internet, another new small business group also emerged who depends on snail mail for delivering their products. These are the online retailers.

And lately, more businesses are adopting the e-commerce concept, having their own online shops available to worldwide customers.

Thus, unless sending of physical items no longer requires physical transportation, else snail mail would still be around for as long as delivery of physical items is required.

Instant Messenger to Instant Love?

How to find true love is a mystery that millions of people around the world has been trying to solve; looking for the right formula and perfecting experiments across history. Over the years, the idea of serendipity and destiny has fed the desires of countless romantics around the globe. With the advent of technology, have we found the perfect equation to find our true love; love that travels across the oceans and timezones?

The hustle and bustle of our daily lives makes it difficult for us to meet our friends, much less to go out and scrutinize a possible lover. Women all over the world are busy with their careers or their studies, they barely have time to brush their hair. How do they go about solving this problem? go online, create a profile with their best picture, and wait for destiny to kick in. There are various online dating sites that hopeful people frequent to find their perfect match. When you get a “hit” you exchange instant messages to get to know each other; cyber dating. This way, you can still work your ass off during the day, make your profile do the searching for you, and hopefully by the end of the day, find the person you will spend the rest of your life with.

A word of warning though, you have to double your vigilance when trying your luck on the internet. It is quite easy to falsify information on the net, you will never know if you are dating a social deviant or even worse, a sex offender. Keep your mind and eyes open for red flags.

The usage and effects of the internet.

The progressive increase of Internet usage is outstripping the rest of mainstream media.

The Europeans have increase the time spent connected to this medium and increasingly make more sophisticated use of the web. Even television had noticed the progressive advancement of the internet use in households, the 21% of Spaniards internet users assure they spend less time watching TV before the advent of the internet in their lives.

The list of activities related to the media that also have been troubled by the network are, general readings (13.9% spends less time), and reading newspapers (11.6%), according to a recent report by a BBVA foundation of the surfing habits of the Spaniards, for the month of October 2005.

The increasing possibilities and new services offered by a computer are pushing their use, particularly among a segment of young audience including personal relationships, downloading music and games are fundamental parts.

For the use that is given on the web, there is an overwhelming majority that defines the internet as an information and communication method.

In fact, 96.9% are online (9 out of 10with Google, 2 out of ten with Yahoo), 84.3%use email and 61.3% are users of instant messaging (MSN, Yahoo messenger, etc.)

The next most common activity on the network is the reading of digital newspapers or news services, something that routinely occupies 45.8% of surfers. However, 75.7% have become disenchanted by reading the newspapers in their traditional format, primarily for the convenience of paper on the screen.

Despite this 61.1% admitted that it is easier to find information on the web that interest you.

With the world becoming less and less dependent on good old fashioned pen-and-paper methods, and literacy standards dropping faster than any stock market in 2007, we are faced with a generation of young adults and youths that have developed grammatical habits with complete disregard for any sort of formal written structure. It is true that high schools will still implement curriculums with classic and contemporary literary and artistic greats; Shakespeare, Salinger, McCarthy to name a few, but it appears as though these works are not having any sort of measurable or visible effect on the latest generation of high school graduates.

One could speculate that the reason for this is the amount of time spent reading text with proper, formal writing, compared with the time spent dwelling on message boards, instant messaging clients, or social networks online, where the text is littered with a poor excuse for the English language. This of course is not exclusive to English – most languages have their own slang used online or in other social situations outside of the classroom – however it appears to be almost completely exclusive to internet users. Why is it that this generation of burgeoning young adults feel the need to carelessly disregard the form and style that has been developed over centuries of communication?

A parallel can be drawn between this rapid evolution of language and the qualms scientist have over genetic engineering, or hasty advances in modern medicine. While the short term benefits may be nice (consider healing a patient short term, or shortening a word and typing just a few letters or in some cases a single letter), the long term effects may cause irrevocable damage (perhaps the patient contracts a disease that they would have otherwise been immune to, had it not been for that previous treatment, and as for the language, perhaps a rift is formed between those who understand this shorthand communication, and those who do not understand, or even misinterpret it).

The challenge for the generation in question will not only be maintaining the ability to communicate with one another, but teaching said methods to the following generations. If a kindergarten teacher does not know the proper use of homophones “your” and “you’re,” whilst a third grade teacher is using analogous pronunciations for “our” and “are,” their (or they’re, or there in some opinions!) students will be subjected to difficulty in expressing themselves as well. There are, of course, a plethora of similar examples of common errors in grammar, spelling, enunciation, and pronunciation being used by today’s generation of young adults, and they will only pass these on to the following generation.

This message is not simply food for thought, but also a call to action. Whether caused by increased social activity due to increased means of interacting, or due to sheer laziness (ex.: “spell-checking” in the typing world, the destruction of vocabulary and language must not be taken lightly. There is a reason why we have the structure and form we do today, or had yesterday at the least, and as a society, it would be a shame to have to find out that reason the hard way. Scratching images into cave walls is not a preferred method in this day and age, and many homeowners may have something to say – or carve – about their friends destroying the living room wall just to get their point across.

Procrastinating is said to evil, but when you're "forced" to be one, why not be "productive" instead!

As an average employee, would you agree that there are times when there’s no deadline to meet and you simply go sidetracked with these guilty-full “hobbies” in the office? I know you do.

Let me share these to you…

Facebook or any social networking site for that matter. In order to pass the day by without waiting for the time, one cannot simply ignore checking out that update a friend just posted or make a comment on that cutie’s status. In fact, one can never ignore those funny quizzes they continually flood around.

Instant Messaging (or emailing) that cutie-next-cubicle. What a great way to kill the time than spend it with someone who brightens the gloom of boredom! Catching the latest gossip from long distance friends? Well, it’s just a keyboard away!

Reading e-books, of course, not those boring work-related articles! Harry Potter, perhaps?! This would be almost perfect since it would allow you to “look busy” and yet it’s just one of those killing-time-scheme.

Guilty, your honor! But isn’t it so deliciously satisfying? Bet you’ve got a longer list than the one I shared. Would you mind sharing them to us?

It is the job, a teenager’s job, to create words. We have been doing it for generations, changing and shaping language.

Texting and instant messaging have contributed to recent changes in language, allowing teens to create newer words to express emotion.

“LOL (laugh out loud),” “ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing),” and “OMG (oh my gosh/God)” are now spoken, as well as typed.

The majority of this inspiration comes from pop culture and our peers. The phrase “thats hot” became popular a few years ago, when heiress Paris Hilton said it every time she was in public.

Calling a woman a “Gold digger” was resurrected when Kanye West came out with the song “Gold Digger.” The show CRIBS airs on MTV brought back the 70’s word crib, when referring to someone else’s house.

Words are being created or are recieving new meanings everyday. The words “sweet,” “rad,” “tight,” “awesome,” “cool,” “filthy,” “bomb,” and “holla” are used daily to express joy or interest.

Speak to people from all over the world with hundreds of languages on one site.

Image via Wikipedia

Weekend was excellent. Met a stunner at that party in the hills, and you really hit it off. Only one problem…

You can’t understand a word she / he’s saying.

Not to worry, since now there’s Me-Globe, a new online service that helps you talk with whoever you want, even if you don’t speak the same language.

The notion is simple—while the rest of the internet world is busy sending out updates to hundreds of online “friends” about traffic and how they feel about today being Tuesday (hint: not thrilled), you’ll stick to your instant-messaging window, where you can start getting to know that statuesque Russian super-model from the party, or the shy Thailand actress from the coffeehouse, or the natural Brazilian beauty from the beach. Because if you’re signed in to the LA-based Me-Globe, your instant messages will be translated automatically, in real time, and so will his/hers.

Me-Globe is just out of beta, so as they continue to refine their translation tools, it’s a safe assumption you might find yourself in the midst of a hilarious misunderstanding or two.

But words like “bottle” and “wine” should be clear enough.
