Newt Gingrich was right on target when he stated that the idea of a peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinians is delusional.

A Commentary:

Newt Gingrich was right on target when he stated that the idea of a peace treaty between Israel and the Palestinians is delusional, since both Hamas and the PLO are intent on destroying the State of Israel. He also stated that Palestine is an invented name, dating back to the Romans, and that Palestinians are essentially Arabs that settled in Israel when the Ottoman Turks had conquered that country.

His statement indicates that, regardless of any overtures toward a peace settlement, Israel’s sworn enemies can never live in peace with Israel in the Middle East.

In spite of the truth, there are those that think otherwise. Going around in circles and denying facts that should be taken into consideration is an exercise in hypocrisy. There is a difference between the right of birth and that of conquest .

Both biblically and historically Jerusalem should be the capital of Israel, (not El Quad’s) and there should be no denial of this fact.

Kissing can now be transmitted from one corner to another of the planet, in real time, thanks to a dedicated device especially kissing couples forced to live in the distance, invented by Japanese researchers.

The prototype of this device, called Kiss Transmission Device (No kissing transmitting device), was conducted at the University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo.

The device is composed of two strange objects equipped with a straw-like tube, which allows transmission via Internet of kissing, including circular movements of the tongue.

A user “kiss” device that records movement in real-time data being transmitted to other virtual device which faithfully reproduce the original movements.

In this way, the two lovers can kiss away while they are in video conferencing over Skype, even if perhaps not even identical feelings.

According to the source, the researchers said that the project is still in its infancy.

In future information will be added to “taste” of the device, how they breathe and other aspects that will help to more accurately recreate the real kiss.

As an avid roulette player and also a skillful assassin turned into a financial genius, soon became the richest man of his time? The answer is found in his biography of John Law, one of the most controversial personalities of the 18th century.

In the early 18th century, not too well-crafted attempt ends in failure: the plan, under which the French financial system composed of gold and silver coins would have been replaced with paper money and stocks crashed.

As John Law, who discovered banknotes, was ridiculed by the public opinion. French moralist, Charles de Montesquieu, for example, he mocks the financial system thought Law calling it “a realm of fantasy.”

It was not until the late 18th century, John Law’s theories begin to be taken into account. English philosopher and economist Adam Smith called his ideas as “brilliant, but fantastic.” Austrian political scientist Joseph Schumpeter, the Law places it among the largest tax theorists of all time.

As a keen gambler and convicted for murder turns into a financial genius and a very short time become the richest man of his time?

First crime, then wealth

John Law is the eldest son of a jeweler in the Scottish city of Edinburgh. In life, John is using special mathematical skills they possess. After you finish school, roulette is the best friend. There, he quickly calculate odds, financing and so generous and liberal lifestyle, also.

After a dispute over a woman kills her rival in an illegal duel, in this case was sentenced to death. He manages to escape from jail, crosses Europe in the early years after escape, where the casinos losing nights.

During the day is dedicated to financial theories, reaching the conclusion that the money must flow to produce growth. That time was revolutionary idea according to which the money in circulation should not have coverage in precious metals.

Law For a long time trying to attract to his side and his ideas ministers and monarchs of Europe to put into practice the experiment or paper banknote printing. Death of King Louis XIV will open the doors to success.

The new regent of France, Duke of Orleans, is faced with a problem inherited from the “Sun King”. The country was almost bankrupt. Public debt reached about three billion pounds. The need for cash was immense and growing interest from day to day. About repayments of the debt could not be there.

John Law’s promise that the debt be liquidated by the printing press were quite attractive. In May 1716, Law received permission to set up the Banque Generale. This is the first bank in France that offer paper bills whose coverage consists only in the state’s promise to guarantee to the Bank.

John Law’s plan becomes operational. Interest rates are falling. It develops private entrepreneurial activity. Is consumed, it produces and invests in more and more. Moreover, paper money are easier to carry than coins, their transport is much safer because of lower volume shipments.

It was up there as John Law has received a monopoly for the French in Louisiana and Mississippi. Back then it was assumed that these territories hide large reserves of gold and silver, although nobody was sure of it. Law’s company began to issue shares for Mississippi.

So money was raised for the expeditions that were to take place in search of gold. People rushed over the shares in the general hysteria. For the first time, the shares were available to ordinary people. Law’s popularity reaches dizzying levels. Acquires the right to print notes guaranteed by the state.

He causes the first financial crisis caused by speculation. In 1719 the company’s shares “Mississippi has increased from 500 to 10,000 pounds per share.

Poor or just crazy?

After he proved that in Louisiana there is no trace of gold and land as worthless or a swamp, among the shareholders to be sprinkled incept disbelief.

Meanwhile, the circulation of paper money is growing. In July 1720, the company “Mississippi bankruptcy, and most French people are financially ruined. John Law fled abroad, dying in poverty in 1729 in Venice.

Historians do not decide if John Law should be classified as a villain or a fool. Scottish journalist Charles MacKay wrote that the blame for the collapse of the speculative system was not Law, but the people around which was built the system. Law did not take into account an entire nation of hysterical greed.

The human mind is capable of anything....

It was perhaps Hungarian physicist Leo Szilard (pictured) who is to blame for the Hiroshima and Nagasaki Holocausts. It was reportedly Szilard who first succeeded in bringing about a nuclear chain reaction from a split atom in 1933and later patented the idea. He turned to German-Swiss Nobel physicist laureate Albert Einstein and together they developed what was called the Manhattan Project for the American government. In the initial bomb blast, called the “ Trinity test, ” Szilard reportedly used a mere 600milligrams of uranium to cause an explosion equivalent to some 18,000 tons of dynamite in New Mexico on July 16, 1945. This was the cradle of the very first two atomic bombs, which, after weaning, were used in a mass genocide on Japan 65 years ago. The codename of the atomic bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 was the uranium-based “ Little Boy. ” On August 9, 1945 the Americans dropped the plutonium-based “ Fat Man ” on Nagasaki, which led to the capitulation of Japan six days later. In minutes some half a million people allegedly died in the explosion, and several millions more in the aftermath. Scientists are still detecting various anomalies and irregularities among the population 65 years later. The blue-pints of both bombs are still classified to this day. The Americans have never apologized for the murders and have always kept a low profile each year when the Japanese people cry in remembrance. This year America has finally had the audacity to send Ambassador John Roos as their official representative to join 73 other international representatives in the commemorations of Hiroshima. Reportedly S President Barack Obama plans to visit the ground zero site during his up-coming visit to Japan. Each year at exactly 8.15am (when the bomb fell) on Aug 6 Hiroshima holds a minute silence and then the air is filled with the sound of children’s choirs and tolling of bells. The UN also presented flowers at Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park. What do you think about Hungarian involvement in developing the atomic bomb? Do you have an anecdote about Hiroshima? Are you in Hiroshima? How are you marking the anniversary? Send us your comments using the space below.

Compasses are instruments for finding the direction. They point to the north and accordingly the rest of the points of direction can be discerned. Compasses are used for navigational purposes in ships and planes. They are also used on the land during hiking and for general orientation. For this there are small portable compasses available.

A compass has a small-magnetized pointer or needle, which is hung, pivoted or floated in order to allow it to move freely. The needle always points to the north as the earth’s magnetism always attracts it.

No one really knows when exactly the compass was invented. It is generally believed that the Chinese were the first to use it. Simple compasses using lodestone, a magnetic rock, may have been in use china in the 5th century BC. Certain historians say that the compass has been referred to in a Chinese book dating to the 11th century AD.

The Arab merchant learnt the use of the compass from the Chinese. They in turn introduced this instrument to the European sailors. It is a well-known fact that the compass was in common use in the European countries by the 12th century.

During those days the compass consisted of a loadstone attached to a wooden crossbar which was allowed to float in a bowl of water. The lodestone always pointed north. They also discovered that a steel or iron needle kept in contact with a lodestone long enough gained magnetic properties. These needles thus replaced the lodestone.

There was however one problem with these compasses. Today we know that the earth’s magnetic north and the true north are not the same. In those days the sailors were not aware of this and so often got confused. In modern days this problem is solved by using gyrocompasses. These are non-metallic and give the true north bearings with the help of a gyroscope. Once a gyroscope is spinning it is very difficult to change its direction.

In the modern world today, increasing numbers of people are being affected by television. The television has a place in almost any typical western family, and is destroying children's minds. Infants are shown violence and learn profanities as young as the age of two. This cannot be allowed to continue if we strive for a crime free world.

The greatest enemy to the law is not the criminals themselves, but what shaped them, what drove them and what warped their mind at such a young age as to push them to extremities. According to Leonard Eron, Senior Research Scientist at the University of Michigan; “Television alone is responsible for 10% of youth violence.”

This is a most shocking fact to both younger and older generations as we witness what a new generation is growing up and learning about what is right. How can we keep our children safe if they think that violence is the way to solve problems?

However, the one of the facts that must be addressed is that television provides a global network; an alert can be broadcasted all over the world in a matter of seconds if the government require so. However, is this a price worth paying for our children’s minds? The American Psychiatric Association has stated that: “By age 18, a U.S. youth will have seen 16,000 simulated murders and 200,000 acts of violence.”

Each one of these 16,000 murders and 200,000 acts of violence shape and mould our children’s minds. Each one of them teaches children that violence and death is acceptable and is a normal part of everyday life. If TV never existed, thousands of youths who are currently homeless and with criminal records may have grown up to be successful, helped with volunteer work in developing countries on a GAP year and so helped give other needy children a brighter future by building schools and homes. Have gone to Oxford or Cambridge. Gained a degree. Gone on to become successful businessmen, accountants or lawyers. Why do we continue to shape our children’s minds against what we want?

Moreover, another subject that we have not touched upon is that TV is making children obese. Today, one in four children is obese and the Health and Social Care Information Center survey of 2,000 children found: “From 1995 to 2004, obesity among boys aged 11-15 rose from 14% to 24% and girls from 15% to 26%. The rate rose slightly in the two to 10 age group.”

This outbreak of obesity is due to lack of exercise because that time is spent sitting inanimate, watching television or playing computer games. This outbreak falls almost entirely upon Television’s effect of drawing in young minds and holding them in its iron fist. There are very few transmissions that promote well being and exercising, and that one in five adverts are for food implies that television is the prime cause of nationwide child weight problems today.

Many people say that television has made people more aware of the outside world and has made people more conscious of what is right and wrong. However, exactly the opposite is happening. Youths are being taught that violence and swearing is the way to solve issues, and that rape and murder are acceptable.

The Kaiser Family Foundation issued this statement: “A majority of parents say they are “very” concerned about the amount of sex (60%) and violence (53%) their children are exposed to on TV. After being read arguments on both sides of the issue, nearly two-thirds of parents (63%) say they favor new regulations to limit the amount of sex and violence in TV shows during the early evening hours, when children are most likely to be watching.”

This further enforces the argument with the fact that when ordinary citizens know what kind of content is shown on TV, they agree that TV should be regulated more strictly. This is the kind of society we should live in, not one that rests on the shoulders of TV and video games and where parents do nothing to protect their child’s state of mind.

Moreover, another thing television is renowned for is advertising. The average person will watch over 20,000 adverts a year. This is extremely disturbing to the observer as one sees a group of people gripped by a frenzy brought on by one advertisement.

These adverts create want for possessions and force youths who cannot afford these cravings for material goods to steal and lie until they get what they need to satisfy themselves, If TV had never been invented, then thousands of youths who have now have criminal records would have the slate wiped clean and be able to start afresh. Recent studies have shown that over 27% of the causes for crime among young people was to gain money to purchase items that they desperately wanted, maybe if their more well off friends had one or he had seen an advertisement and was gripped by it. This cannot be allowed to continue if we are to preserve our children’s future.

In conclusion I firmly believe that television is a cancer that this whole world has to bear, it has bought suffering to many peoples lives. It has caused many instances of copy-cat violence and murders and has plagued young generations with advertising and obesity.

For example, ibid have produced this statement: “Children younger than 8 “cannot uniformly discriminate between real life and fantasy/entertainment… They quickly learn that violence is an acceptable solution to resolving even complex problems, particularly if the aggressor is the hero.”

Television has scarred children and youths worldwide and we may see its consequences regrettably unfold in the next decade.
