            Often people of the world get tangled in “the distinction between righteousness and unrighteousness” (Tzu 255).  But in the end, when evil happens good will overcome it (Oe 289).  Everyone must think about their actions and if they hurt other people, but not everyone can follow those simple rules.  That’s when we need to do what’s right and overcome it instead of trying to get back at them.  Without a doubt, Mo Tzu would love the golden rule.          

Sammy the Snail gets nervous at having to move to another country, again, and have his parents reassure him and remind him of the good points of change and making new friends. And the wording is reserved and educational. Some wording is on its own, some is mixed with the illustrations, which are bright and colourful; some have been made to look like real photographs to give a scrapbook/diary feel. The moral is very good. It shows there are many outcomes in life, there are peaceful places throughout the world and though the ending is somewhat of a cliff-hanger, there is an overwhelming sense of hope for our hero.

It’s hard to feel OK about a holiday that is so limiting in it’s purview of the appropriate and authentic ways to express love.

So this year in an effort to push the bounds of that exclusivity that so many of us feel on Valentine’s day, I wanted to think about the ways we can rethink love and romance to resemble who we are, as singles, couples and community. Celebrating love is a beautiful thing but shouldn’t depend on if we are in a relationship or not, our sexual orientation, our class background, our citizenship status or our marital status.

So I created a tumblr called Occupy Valentine’s Day to collect our re-imaginings of love.
