In this article, I express the opinion that Mr. Donald Trump's willingness to do anything in business and his need to be loved by Hollywood means he is not fit to be president.

My objection to Mr. Trump is simple. In my opinion, Mr. Donald Trump has allowed himself to be turned in to a pop-culture caricature. Along with his participation in the media, he has been made in to a joke.

This will result in a great challenge. He will have to over come the image of the bumbling oaf of a CEO as he has been portrayed.

In addition, today on the Rush Limbaugh radio program Mr. Trump revealed something that troubled me. Mr. Trump explained that he made donations to liberals such a Raum Emmanuel because Mr. considered it good business. A true conservative should never make any donations to a democrat. The fact that Mr. Trump did it for the no other reason then profit is of great concern.

I am going to call the American presidential campaign of 2012 as the campaign for High Standards. These high standards are honesty and integrity.

Mr. Trump has done things in the name of profit and attention. As I was researching Mr. Trump I learned that Mr. Trump at one time considered film school. This explains his obvious desire to be loved and revered by Hollywood types.

In my opinion, Mr. Trump was willing to become a pop-culture caricature just to be revered. Mr. Trump was willing to make donations to democrats in expectation of special consideration in his business dealings, in my opinion. This actions suffer in conservative ethics and morality.

What has a man if not his own name? The US has been through a lot in the past 7 political years. People who called them selves republicans have not behaved like republicans. In reality, politicians have been dedicating them selves to speaking well but working bad.

In the final analysis, I have to say the problem is the conservative still sitting on the sidelines. Small government, lower government spending, personal responsibility, self-reliance, marriage, and right to life are good values. In addition, they represent the values that are the back bone of American society.

However, many conservatives refuse to get involved. Being that independents thought it was a good idea to elect Barak Hussein Obama I and not interested in what they are going to do in this next political cycle.

Since 2008 many dedicated conservatives have been involved politically. These conservatives almost stopped Obama-care. They are responsible for the US House of Representatives becoming conservative again.

Therefore, there is substantial conservative involvement. However, we need the rest of you. The stakes are great.

The liberal agenda-driven news media has wasted no time in helping Obama get reelected. I personally suspect that Mr. Trumps poll numbers are the results of the liberal news media attempting to pull another McCain on the conservatives in America. Remember it was the liberal news that build up John McCain and then tore him down to help Obama.

I hope this does not happen again. Politics is a business not fit for man or beast. However, it is a necessary evil.

America, however, does not have to go down the road of Europe and become a fascist socialist state. If enough people of traditional values register to vote and vote, America can be saved.

I fear that the delirium from elect Trump fever has already infected many. During the G.W. Bush’s two elections I started to use the two standards that I am judged by when I apply for a job. These standards are education and experience.

It is reported that Mr. Donald Trump has a bachelor of science with a major in finance and economics. His business experience is extensive in development and construction. My question “what does a man have if not his name” means has a person lived up to his or her standards. I believe Mr. Trump has no problem wanting to be loved by Hollywood or greasing democratic palms to have business success.

I do not consider these standards as high standards. Of all the possible conservative presidential candidates for 2012 Sarah Palin is the only one who meets my high standards. I am also tired of politicians who say one thing and do something else. Of all the things people have said of Sarah Palin, I have not heard any one credibly question her integrity.

Maybe, people of such great integrity are to much for Americans to handle. The liberal news media starts fanning the flames of Trump and people start swooning. A Donald Trump who did not pander to Hollywood or democrats I could maybe support.

This crucial time in American history requires that we all check our integrity and see if we have high standards. How much more time are Americans going to waste with novelty candidates? How many elections more will Americans sit and wait for their marching orders from the liberal news media? I have a brain of my own. I do not need liberal marching orders.

In 2000 and 2004 I said G.W. Bush needed to win to teach the liberal news media that they do not control politics in America. Who knows? Maybe the liberal news media does control American politics.

Well, they only think they control it. Corporate America controls politics in America. This is why I was happy with what Obama said on his speech on the economy. Since Obama got elected he has been trashing Corporate America. On that speech Obama confirmed what Corporate America all ready knows. Obama is coming to carry all of their money away. This desire to blame the rich and tax them to pay of the debt is the end of Obama’s political career.

The liberal news media is not going to loose without putting up a good fight. However, again this is not about democrat or republican politicians. All elections are about pride in ownership and how hard people will work to save what is important to them. I hope America is important to the majority of my conservative American neighbors.

If America is important enough to you that you take pride in ownership, take the time to look at each conservative candidate carefully. Make sure they can be trusted to defend our conservative values. I cannot trust anyone who puts vanity and profit over principle. Sarah Palin is the only conservative I trust to protect and defend the values we share.

Although there is some debate about human overpopulation being a problem, it is generally considered to be a real issue by scientists and even the United Nations agrees we are in a dire position. Are humans the only problem?

To begin, although there is some debate about human overpopulation being a problem, the current human population, as of May 2010, is 6.9 Billion. Human overpopulation is generally considered to be a real issue by scientists and even the United Nations agrees we are in a dire position.

But what of the other species? Is overpopulation limited to humans alone or are other species at risk of becoming too successful for their own good and overpopulating themselves?

What is Overpopulation?

Overpopulation is a concern where a species has more numbers than there are renewable resources available. In the case of humans we see populations die off due to hunger and a dependency has formed on non-renewable resources. Both being clear evidence of a problem. In some other species similar problems have occurred.

Cats and Dogs

The species where overpopulation is the biggest concern is domestic cats. In many countries large numbers of domestic cats are euthanized, or left to die on the streets, due to overpopulating. Millions are put to death every year in the United States alone, and countless animals are destroyed in other ways (thrown into bags and drowned or left on the highway or in dumpsters).

Every year more kittens are born than there are homes for. This creates a massive problem in terms of overpopulation. These animals could not fend for themselves, they become infested with parasites, and their numbers would soon outnumber their food supply. Strays and feral cats are considered nuisance animals and are often either killed or removed.

All one has to do to be convinced of a problem with cat overpopulation is to visit their local animal shelter and ask how many cats and kittens get euthanized on average in a month. In an average sized shelter it can run from the hundreds, to the thousands. Some areas have many shelters. In places with No-Kill shelters one can ask how many cats they turn away every month.

The problem occurs in smaller numbers in domestic dogs, but dogs also run into problems with overpopulation. Where shelters in the United States may put down somewhere around 4 million cats in a year, perhaps only 1.5 million dogs are euthanized. Nevertheless overpopulation in dogs is a problem.

Because cats and dogs are domestic animals, treated as pets in most parts of the world, they run into overpopulation problems quite easily. In areas where they are consumed, it is not such a problem. Nobody is suggesting we control pet populations by eating excess animals, but a better solution would be to control their breeding.

Other Species

Other species have become an overpopulation problem, but again, this is typically at the hand of human intervention. As in many cases the problems occur in introduced species. Unable to eat their natural food supplies they quickly out compete native animals for food, often developing new tastes and eating things they normally might not. Without natural predators to keep introduced species controlled they soon reach a point where their food source is no longer renewable, and other species are driven to extinction or put at risk. A good example of this is what is happening in New Zealand as rats are eating native animals and putting them on the endangered list.

Rabbits have become an overpopulation nightmare in Australia, destroying crops and overrunning farms. As humans have reduced the Dingo population in some areas, the rabbit population has skyrocketed. Rabbits have even been linked to erosion problems as they have devoured native grasses. Rabbits are not native to Australia and humans have introduced diseases specific to rabbits to help control their population, as well as set up poisoning stations.

In a perfect world predator and prey keep each other in balance, with neither becoming overpopulated. Some species such as the Coyote maintains a balance in its population levels, controlling their own breeding when food sources are low.

Humans have become overpopulated because we have reduced many of our natural predators, and other population control measures (such as disease). Humans have allowed other species to become over populated as well. Domestic cats and dogs (both animals created with human influence) have become overpopulated but humans act to try to control it, either at the start by spaying or neutering, or at the end, by killing excess animals.

In time perhaps we will see our own species with the same level of concern we show when others become overpopulated.

A look inside this cruel money making scheme, and ways to put a stop to the inhumanity.

The ban on the import of dog and cat fur went into effect in the United States in 2000, there are 27 European countries that also have a ban on the dog and cat fur trade. This cruel practice is conducted in China, where millions of dogs and cats are tortured, hanged, bludgeoned, bled out, and strangled with wire nooses (Source: Fur Is Dead), so that they may be killed for their fur. Animals are getting hoses shoved down their throat to drown, raised without food or water, this horrible animal cruelty has got to stop!

According to PETA, “China supplies more than half of the finished fur garments imported for sale in the United States, so the bottom line is that because dog and cat fur is so often mislabeled, if you’re buying fur, there’s no way to tell whose skin you’re wearing.”

Anybody who buys ANY kind of fur is contributing to the global demand for fur. Unfortunatley even with the bans, the United States and Europe are still the largest consumers of fur in the world, and this makes China the largest fur export country in the world.

Voice your opinion to put a stop to this, there are many ways that you can help:

Write a letter to the Abassador of China to urge the country to stop this cruel practice.

His Excellency Zhou Wenzhong
Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China
Embassy of the People’s Republic of China
2300 Connecticut Ave. N.W.
Washington, DC 20008
202-328-2574
202-328-2582 (fax)

Visit FurIsDEAD, for more information, to sign an online petition, and to get more materials to become an activist.

Sign the petition at The Animal Rescue Site to put a stop to the import of dog and cat fur to Canada.

Go to HSUS (The Humane Society of the United States) to get more information on the fur trade.

A great man once said “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”, that man was Gandhi.

There are many ways that a person can get involved with helping animals. There are plenty of animal shelters out there that need volunteers are various items including: blankets, towels, cat toys, dog toys (Kongs, small or big), cat & dog treats, leashes, plastic cat carriers.

No task is too small, whether you decide to volunteer, or donate, please contribute to promoting animal welfare around the world.

At the The Animal Rescue Siteanybody can make a difference by clicking the button on the home page to feed sheltered animals. The sponsors of the page will contribute food to hungry animals everytime the button is clicked, you can also set a reminder to go to the site every day and click the button.

You may also view my blog PAWW for other ideas on how to become an ambassador for animals in need.

Do you ever feel that things are changing too quickly for you?

Spring is here where I live and I can hear the birds singing in the morning. I never really thought that I would pay attention to them but as I have gotten older it seems that things that I might have taken for granted I no longer take for granted.

The sun is out today and I must say it has affected my mood. I feel like I can do anything that I put my mind too. This is the kinda of attuitude that I want to have everyday but some days I know it does not happen. I was planning on creating a garden this month but still have not brought any seeds or soil. I plan on mentioning it to the boyfriend again in hopes for him to help me on this project.

What I have been doing online is learning about kittens, and I saw a story about a woman that thought that polar bears were her friends. I must admit this made me laugh. What she did was jump in with them at feeding time mind you and they started biting her. Why she did this I may never know but from what I read online she is okay but did have some injuries. As for looking up info on kittens my mother got a kitten which she is trying to pawn off to me that has mites. So I looked up some info on that to see if I could treat the kitten on my own without a trip to the vet. What I found was mineral oil works so I started her treatment yesterday. I am hoping it works but we will see.

See changes are always happening some for the good some for the bad. I guess it all depends on what way you tend to tackle the challenge. For me I am trying to look at something that is a problem and look for a solution. Take care and thanks for stopping by to read my thoughts on changes.

Some interesting facts about cats throughout the course of human history.

Image via Wikipedia

Cats have been the center of multiple myths and legends expanding the globe. Many cultures have worshiped them, even as far as considering them to be gods; where as other cultures consider them evil. In modern times cats are once again revered though not as extreme as the Ancient Egyptians. Cats have been domesticated for over five thousand years, and in those years have played a massive role in shaping cultural history for many civilizations.

Rodents became a major problem for the early Egyptians when they began storing grain (ThinkQuest). Cats were first used by the Egyptians to hunt down these pests but later were loved and worshipped as gods by the civilization. The Egyptians admired the cat’s ability to hunt and called them “miw,” which was the household name for cats. In the event of a cat’s death, the owner would go into mourning. The cat’s death was treated as that of a person’s. The owner would have the cat embalmed and put into a wooden casket; it was then taken to the Great Temple of Bastet, the cat god, to be ceremoniously buried (ThinkQuest). Cats were held to such a high respect that a death penalty was imposed on anyone who purposely killed one (CatsInfo.com).

Cats have been associated with witchcraft for many centuries (Deguara). The stereotype often associated with witches in our culture is, “an old woman, possible with green or grey skin, wearing a pointed hat, clad completely in black. She possesses a flying broomstick and a black cat” (Deguara). In medieval times the black cat was given to a witch as a “familiar,” an animal helper from the devil, to help her with her magic. Though naming and even talking to a cat is common in modern society, in medieval times it was considered a practice of witchcraft (Deguara). Cats were often used as sacrifices in religious rituals and were hated and feared so much that they were hanged, tortured, burned, and even drowned by Christians due to the belief that they were “scorned as Satan’s tools” (ThinkQuest). If the owner of a cat was convicted of witchcraft, the owner and the cat were often executed together (eSSORTMENT). Cats were blamed for many sins such as encouraging people to do wrong (eSSORTMENT). As the persecution of cats in Europe continued, the cat population began to dramatically decrease giving the rodent population a chance to take over (ThinkQuest). Disease overtook the rich and poor from the bacteria that covered fleas. Once the usefulness of cats was realized, cats became a more and more common household pet and the population once again thrived (ThinkQuest).

In Russia, cats are believed to have healing powers (Bollinger). It is believed that if a cat lays on a part of the body that is hurting, the cat will cure it. Another belief is that if a cat lays on a part of the body that is not hurting then something is wrong with it. There are other superstitions that revolve around cats in Russian culture. It is said that when a couple buys a new home the first one to enter will die first in the home, but to break this a cat must pass through first. A final belief, which is common in many cultures, is the crossing of a black cat through your path will bring bad luck (Bollinger).

Islamic countries consider cats to be very clean animals (Deguara). It is said that the prophet Mohammed kept cats for pets. The prophet had to go to prayer but his cat was asleep on his arm; rather than wake the cat, Mohammed tore off his sleeve and went to prayer (Deguara).

In the Orient, people view cats in very high regard. The Siamese cat is considered sacred has a legend the surrounds it (Deguara). It was believed that upon the death of a Siamese king, “their soul would pass on to a Siamese cat, so that he could be present at the coronation of the succeeding king before attaining heaven.” This cat was treated as part of the royal family and lived in the palace. Another legend surrounding the Siamese cats is about ones with kinked tales. In the Far East, the Siamese were considered lucky. The legend states that “an ancestor of this breed voluntarily kinked its tail so as to provide a safe place for the princess’ rings while she was bathing. She would slide her rings along the cat’s tail, and there was no danger of them being lost, as the kinked tail prevented them from falling.” The Siamese was not the only cat with a myth from the Orient. Korat, a blue grey cat, had a coat color that resembled a rain cloud. Due to this, these cats were used in ritual processions meant to bring rain to the fields. After the ritual water was then sprinkled upon the cat’s face to induce the rain. In certain areas of the Orient, people believe the cats helped souls to journey from hell to paradise. The consequences for anyone who killed a cat was to

carry and stack as many coconut tree trunks as the cat had hairs (Deguara).

Japan has its own legend regarding cats. In Japan lies the legend of the Beckoning Cat (Deguara). Long ago this cat would stand at the door of the Gotoku-ji Temple and would raise her paw in the traditional Japanese beckoning wave to a feudal lord who was passing by. It is stated that “the feudal lord followed the cat into the temple and instantly, a lightning bolt struck the place where the lord had been standing. Thus the cat saved his life.” After that incident the Beckoning Cat was considered to be the Goddess of Mercy reincarnated. Today the Gotoku-ji Temple contains dozens of statues of the Beckoning Cat. Owners of sick or lost cats go to this temple and place up player boards with the image of the Beckoning Cat. Different color Beckoning Cats are believed to bring about certain things. A black Beckoning Cat is said to bring health, and the rare gold ones are said to bring in riches. Gold Beckoning Cats are often sold as money boxes and in a house are believed to “beckon in good friends” (Deguara).

The Bible tells of the story of Noah’s Ark and in this story there are a couple of legends of how cats were created on the ark. One of these legends states that

“Noah took pairs of rats and mice too. However, the rodents multiplied very quickly and the Ark was, after a while, infested by rodents. Noah consulted the lion, who as king of the best may have known a solution. The lion sneezed and from his nostrils, a pair of readymade domestic cats came out, who instantly set down to work, having a natural instinct for being ‘germinators’” (Deguara).

Another legend states that the mouse was the Devil’s work and was set out to destroy the Ark but God had created the cat. God’s cat killed the mouse, saving the Ark (Deguara).

There are many superstitions surrounding the cat. For example, in many parts of the world, when a black crosses your path something bad is believed to soon happen to you and your family (eSSORTMENT). However, in England the bad luck can be canceled by simply spiting on the ground immediately. It is also said that if a cat leaves a person’s home while they are sick and do not come back, that person will soon die. A somewhat strange tradition that was performed in the days of sailing vessels when sailors always took a cat on board was that when there was no wind to fill the sails, they would lock the cat in the cupboard. This would bring the wind to push the sails. Another superstition that is believed is that meeting a cat at midnight is to meet Satan himself. Other superstitions include if a child is left alone with a cat, the cat will suck the breath out of the child; if a cat sneezes on the morning of a wedding near the bride to be, she will have a happy life; stroking the tail of a black cat will cure a sty in the eye; cats lurking in coal mines are considered to be bad luck (eSSORTMENT). Another English superstition states that cold weather is on the approach if all four paws of a cat are tucked underneath it while the cat is asleep (Pet Library). The French believe that it is bad luck to cross a stream while holding a cat and it is believed by the Irish that killing a cat will bring about seventeen years bad luck (Pet Library). It is believed in Germany that if a black cat crosses your path from right to left it is a bad sign, but if it crosses from left to right then it’s a good sign (Best Cat Art).
