Kraken mythical creature that reportedly capable of consuming larger dinosaur of these buses have long been the talk. Today, experts know the facts of this creature.

Paleontologist Mark McMenamin of Mount Holyoke College found evidence of this mythical creature that has killed Ichtyosaur greater than the great body of the bus to become prey.

According to the Geological Society of America (GSA), McMenamin believes, 13.7 meters long bones found in the Berlin- Ichthyosaur State Park, Nevada is a victim of this mystical creature.

According to GSA, the Kraken is an invertebrate animal not the smartest ever.

Each individual creature is lodged in a place such as a part of the puzzle.

Previously, video research octopus killing a shark in a tank capable of strengthening the theory McMenamin.

Nine ichthyosaur Which the size is bus-like found in one location. Kraken's nest?

This story has circulated among the sailors Norway and Iceland: in the vast ocean life sea monster called Kraken. He could swallow a big ship or a whale just a very open mouth.

Kraken legend alive for thousands of years. Although there was fiction, the Kraken appears in the Norwegian natural history book, “Natural History of Norway” published in 1752 who invented the Bishop Borgen, Erik Pontoppidan.

Now one researcher claims he has found proof that the mythical creature really exists. Is Mark McMenamin, paleoantologis from Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts, who claimed to find the remains of sea creatures, in which the Kraken reasonably believed to be behind their demise.

McMenamin said the evidence of the Kraken - which can reach 30 meters in length – from which there is a gaping scar on the body of the giant marine reptiles – predators, ichthyosaur a magnitude similar to school buses. Creature sank to the condition of a broken neck.

The findings were presented at the meeting of knowledge of the Geological Society of America in Minneapolis. Researchers claim, the basic theory is, the location of the fossil and suction marks on the bone. While the critics assume, his claim was nothing more than mere conjecture.

The theory appears when McMenamin began researching the remains of nine species of ichthyosaur from the Berlin-Ichthyosaur Shonisaur State Park in Nevada.

Initially expected, the creature with the head like a dolphin, with a long snout with teeth, similar to the whale, died of toxic plankton that grow on the seabed.

However, the allegation was denied McMenamin. “I am aware, there is always controversy about everything that happened at depth. Maybe there is something interesting going on.”

Not only the signs on the bone that strengthens the theory that the creature was not killed at the same time. McMenamin said the arrangement of bones give clues, creatures such as squid, or the Kraken was plunged ichthyosaur and break his neck.

McMenamin said the animals were killed prey be taken from its location – to a place that supposedly as a hotbed of Kraken, and disposed in a pattern of mysterious creature’s tentacles. He claims to have found a nest of Kraken.

So, why no fossils were found Kraken? McMenamin postulates, the squid is soft-bodied creatures.

McMenamin conscious, his theory of the Kraken nest is controversial, and threatened slaughtered many scientists. But he was ready for it. “We found a good case,” he said.

Separately, Brian Switek, a researcher from the New Jersey State Museum, writes for Wired.com, say, McMenamin’s theory is nothing more than “reading the bones’.

This article is about ocean-dwelling creatures sometimes called sea monsters.

Sea monsters are ocean-dwelling creatures which may be mythological, legendary or real. They can take many forms: multi-armed beasts, sea serpents, dragons, etc. Some sea monsters are misidentified sharks, oarfish, giant squids and whales. Many believe some sea monsters are left-over ichyosaurs or plesiosaurs.

Throughout history, alleged sea monster corpses have been reported. Most such corpses are misidentified animals. For example, in 2003 a huge creature washed up on the Chilean sea shore. It turned out to be a sperm whale.

Legendary sea monsters include the Hydra, the Leviathan and the Kraken. The Cadborosaurus of the Pacific Northwest, Lusca, and Chessie of Chesapeake Bay are recently reported monsters. Fictional creatures include Godzilla, Moby Dick, and the giant octopus.

I believe there is a 50% chance there are real sea monsters out there. What do YOU think?

If you read a story or watch a movie there is usually a mythical creature in it. A popular mythical creature is the dragon. You know those big lizard things which can fly and breath fire. Then there is the unicorn, a horse with a big horn. But, do you know every single one?

Dragon- The dragon is a popular mythical creature. Dragons look similarly like reptiles. They usually fly and breath fire. There are several dragons like the Chinese Dragon and the Hydra.

Unicorn- The Unicorn is usually pictured as a horse and a horn on it’s head but the traditional unicorn has a billy-goat beard,a lions tail and cloven hooves. The Unicorn is said to love maidens so much it goes and sleeps on her lap and sometimes hunters go and catch the Unicorn.

Kraken- A huge giant octopus is the Kraken. It is feared by sailors because it is so colossal and it is known to attack ships and people. It is said to dwell off the coasts of Norway. People have mistaken Giant Squid to be Kraken.

Griffin- The Griffin has the body of a lion and the wings of the eagle. As the lion was thought to be the king of the beasts and eagle the king of the birds the Griffin was thought to be a very powerful creature. They are normally known for guarding treasure.

Phoenix- The Phoenix is a bird of fire. It can live for 500 years to 100 years and at the end it builds itself a nest and burns itself so it dies and then a new Phoenix is born. When it sings a song it is considered to be a beautiful song.

Some prehistoric sea monsters.

The ocean can be a scary place when a sailor or fisherman is miles from shore. Sometimes they cannot help wonder what lurks in the depths below. Sea monsters can take many forms. Often they are said to be destroying ships and killing humans. Although there have been numerous sightings there is no credible evidence. It is currently believed that these creatures do not exist.

Probably the most horrifying legendary creature is the Kraken. It was suppose to have been a giant sea monster. This creature was huge, with many arms. Its arms could reach up to the top of a sailing ship’s main mast, when its arms were deployed.

When the Kraken would attack a ship, it would wrap its arms around the ship and capsize it. The crew would either be eaten by the Kraken or drown. Fishermen around Scandainavia noticed this creature the most.

Scylla is a monster that has six arms, six heads with four eyes on each. Then at the lower part of this monsters body is six beastly dogs, whose mouth contain razor-like teeth. Scylla is to approximately 15 feet tall.

Image via Wikipedia

This monster hides in caves at the bottom of cliffs. Scylla lets her head come out of the chasm, grabbing dolphins and humans that venture into its surroundings.

The Sirens are better known as Mermaids. They are half-woman and half-fish. The Sirens were believed to have lived on the island of, Anthemoessa. Huge boulders surround this island so if ships ventured too close they would be destroyed.

Aspidochelone is a fabled sea creature. It is described as a huge turtle, in fact it is suppose to be as large as an island. It rises from the sea and entices sailors to make landfall on its shell. Then it devours them.

In popular culture, different manifestations of the Kraken have done everything from trying to kill Frodo Baggins to eating Johnny Depp, but what is the origin of this mythological creature?

Kraken are one of the most commonly used plot devices in fantasy works today. The word kraken comes from Scandinavia and refers to something twisted or unnatural. In the earliest myths, the physical form of the Kraken was variable – sometimes it was referred to as a ‘crab-fish’, other times it was likened to a whale, but it was always distinct from the sea serpent, which was also a popular motif in Scandinavian lore. Most commonly the Kraken is represented as an enormous octopus or squid.

The poem ‘The Kraken’ by Alfred Tennyson made the concept popular in the western world and inspired Jules Verne’s depiction of the (unrealistically) giant squid in Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea. The legend of the Kraken was also an inspiration for H.P. Lovecraft’s tentacled aquatic god Cthulhu in his short story Call of the Cthulhu. The Watcher in the Water in JRR Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings is depicted as a giant squid-like monster guarding the entrance to the mines of Moria. The Kraken appears in a myriad of other mediums, including in the Narnia series by CS Lewis, the Marvel comic franchise and most recently in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. In Dead Man’s Chest, the Kraken is the last of its kind and is used as a tool of Davy Jones to hunt and destroy rival/enemy ships.

The origin of this myth probably stems from several factors. A majority of legends originate from the ancient desire to explain natural phenomena. Many of the events which are associated with the appearance of a Kraken are explainable by volcanic activity, i.e. Bubbling water and sudden changes in currents. The appearance of the Kraken can be attributed to early sightings of giant squid or giant octopuses.

The largest octopus species in the world is Enteroctopus dofleini. These creatures can grow up to 7m in girth.

Giant squid can grow up to 13 metres in length and have been known to ‘attack’ ships. Their ten tentacles are lined with powerful suckers which are surrounded by a row of tiny teeth. Sperm whales have been discovered which bear scars inflicted by the suckers of giant squid, which gives you and idea of their size and ferocity. Giant squid have been described as early as the first century AD, by Pliny the elder. Giant squid may also be the inspiration for several other mythical sea monsters, including:

Scylla: a six headed sea monster who would attack passing ships and kill six members of the crew.

Charbydis: a monster who sucked in vast amounts of sea water before expelling it as a whirlpool.

Aspidochelone: a giant sea monster commonly mistaken for an island.

Hydra: this many-headed serpent could grow back a head that that been cut off.

Cetus: a hideous sea monster, who was the personification of the dangers of the sea and unknown creatures.

Over many centuries this sea monster has caused hundreds of people to report that they have witnessed the sudden appearance and disappearance of this legendary beast. But does it exist or is it just in the fertile imagination of the fishermen who like to tell the stories?

The Kraken, or as it is sometimes known, the Norwegian sea-dragon is one of those legendary beasts that many people have professed to have witnessed, but there is no real proof that it does exist.

There are no photographs of any sort that show the image of this really legendary creature, but still it has captured the imagination of so many people over the last few centuries.

The Legend

A boat full of fishermen was surprised to find that their nets were being stretched almost to breaking point. Something was making the water all around them churn with many shoals of fish.

The fishermen were now sorely afraid and worked feverishly, knowing that the unseen creature terrifying the fish could at any moment rise up from the waters and swallow their complete ship.

Or, maybe it would choose to pick them off their ship one at a time. They just knew it was the Kraken, the biggest of the giant sea monsters.

The Stories

You can find many such stories in the library books in Norway, because this legend has been told by many hundreds of fishermen over the past few centuries, they report sightings and being terrified by the sudden unexpected appearance and disappearance of the Kraken.

According to the stories the back of a fully grown Kraken was about one and a half miles long. It is reported to have a big bumpy spine and long thin tentacles that floated out from its body, like strands of seaweed and because of this; it was often mistaken to be a small island.

A Norwegian bishop wrote in his journal, that the floating islands which appeared and disappeared so suddenly, in the North Sea, were in his opinion most certainly the Kraken.

He went on to write that he was walking along the beach one day in the spring and managed to find a Kraken on the shoreline. He thought that it was a large rock, so he set up his altar on the back of the creature with the intention of celebrating a mass.

The bishop concentrated on his work and gave praise to God and then sat down quietly to have his own personal prayer. The creature showed great respect and waited until the bishop had finished and then it just silently moved into the sea and completely vanished.

The Sceptics

Many of the people of our modern time are sceptical and generally are tending to dismiss the existence of the Kraken.

They say that witnesses had probably been very confused and that the sightings they witnessed were possibly of giant squid. But in the vast depths of the oceans, who knows what sleeps beneath the sea?

The mythical Kraken is he really just a myth... Most people will answer: yes. But is that the truth?

The mystical kraken we all know of, the big octopus which sunk ships and fought with sperm whales.
The Vikings told stories about this big fellow but now almost nobody believes in his existence Well I’m going to show you that it isn’t all fake.

The kraken was supposed to be very large, strong and had tentacles now you would think that is impossible right?
Well think again, there is an animal which is big, strong and has tentacles, namely the giant squid.
This animal is can grow up to 43 feet as a male which is 13 meters which is bigger than your house. The female is no small squid either, she can grow up to 33 feet which is 10 meters and also bigger than your house.

Now we have the large animal with tentacles but is it that strong?
The answer is: yes it is.
He is able fight with a sperm whale just like the myth says.
Some scientists have simulated this fight:

Pretty impressive for a squid, isn’t it?

Here is another video not about the giant squid but about a family member the octopus which is smaller but still was able to pull this off:

So what could the giant squid do to them?

Now you know this myth isn’t all just a story, it is based on the truth it may be exaggerated a little but there is some truth behind it.
If you ever go on a ship be aware of the giant squid.
