In opinion on what may be Pres. Obama's goal for America.

It’s been a busy three years for president Obama. First there was the passing of healthcare which became known as Obama care. This was a program that the Senate did not want, the House of Representatives did not want, and a poll of the American people showed that they did not want, yet he managed to get it passed using every underhanded trick in the book.

Then there was the problem with the American economy, which needed fixing. He borrowed trillions of dollars for a stimulus package that did not work. So he borrowed trillions more for another stimulus package that did not work. No one seems to know exactly where all that money went but it is now on the books and has to be paid back. Our debt is so high now it will probably take decades to get it back down into workable form.

Then he came up with an idea to try to make money. He decided to sell our military weapons to the Saudis, Kuwait, and United Arab Emirates. Were not talking bowie knives and M-16s, he’s selling fighter jets and upgrades to fighter jets, missiles and related technology, and training foreign military to fight. Has anyone noticed that people in that part of the world hate us.

Recently I saw a news headline stating that president Obama was usurping powers beyond the presidency to trump the workings of the legislative branch. When I looked the following day to try to find details on this I could find nothing, funny how some news dies so quickly. Makes one wonder if Pres. Obama is getting fitted for a crown, after all he does have the ears for it.

Yes Pres. Obama is achieved much in three years. I daresay that destroying our economy and selling our weapons to those who wish to kill us has done more harm to our country in three years that Osama bin Laden did in three decades. Now he has masterminded a new plan, he’s going to streamline our military. In layman’s terms this means he’s simply going to cut our military and make it harder for us to defend ourselves. Does anyone else smell a setup, I hope I’m not the only one that’s noticed the change.

A total of 88 Members of Parliament of the Arab League said the cruelty of the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad continued despite the Arab League monitoring team was in Syria.

“The murder of children and human rights violations that occurred in front of the monitoring team, increasing the anger of Arab society,” said Acting Parliamentary Kuwait, Ali Salem al-Deqbasi as quoted by USA Today, Monday (02/02/2012).

Earlier, President Assad said the Syrian government approved the proposed Arab League initiative to end the violence that occurred nearly nine months in Syria.

Such initiatives include, to the withdrawal of government forces and various heavy weapons from the streets of Syria. The initiative also includes initiate talks with the opposition and allow human rights activists and foreign journalists to enter Syria, and was followed by the release of political prisoners.

Escalation of violence that continues to rise following the attendance of the Monitoring Team to strengthen the Arab League opposition suspicions that President Assad sought to gain time in order to prevent condemnation and sanctions from the international community.

Syria suffered a political crisis and cause casualties approximately more than 5,000 people, due to anti-government protests that continue to occur.

Information relating to Syria is very difficult due to the foreign journalists and human rights activists barred from the country.

For the people of Iraq, the U.S. action that gives a sense sovereign.

After nearly nine years of occupying Iraq, the government of the United States (U.S) has finally managed to completely withdraw their military.

This morning, the last troops from the land of Uncle Sam had been withdrawn.
Of course, in line with this important moment, the U.S leave the face pockmarked by war with the death of about 4,500 soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqis.

War between the United States against Iraq began in 2003. At that time, the U.S launched a missile first to disarm Saddam Hussein. The withdrawal of these troops, about 100 combat vehicles that average armored carry away the 500 U.S soldiers mingled happily worried. They crossed the desert in southern Iraq during the night toward the Kuwait border.

“It was nice to feel it all willend. I’ve been here since the beginning [of war],” Sergeant Christian Schultz said.
For the U.S. President, Barack Obama, the withdrawal of U.S combat troops that was the fulfillment of a promise which he uttered during hispresidential campaign. As for the people of Iraq, the U.S action that gives a sense of sovereignty, despite fears of a repeat of sectarian violence still exists.

Iraq’s main problem these days is that they do not have good air defense and lost the ability to gather intelligence. However, the problem of Iraq did not stop there. “We do not take care about America. We are thinking about how to obtain electricity, jobs, and oil,” said Abbas Jaber, a civil servant in Baghdad, as quoted by Reuters.

Properly, it seems like President Obama is making good on his promise to end the Iraq conflict and pull our troops out of that country.

Properly, it seems like President Obama is making good on his promise to end the Iraq conflict and pull our troops out of that country. However, is this just a shuffling of troops to the next nearest border? The explanation I ask is that the troops appear to be going to a nearby country, and merely redeployed. Okay so, possibly that is one of the best ways to play it, I haven’t looked at all the small print, the truth is, it could be the wisest choice.

Nonetheless, if considerably smacks of hypocrisy, and nothing more than a political transfer to maintain the people at dwelling happy so that President Obama can say that he made good on his promise, and nonetheless be shut enough to cope with the vacuum that we’ve left in the country known as; Iraq. Which, I’d add is being filled in proper now by your pal and mine; Iran.

There was an fascinating article not too long ago in Vitality Every day titled; “US negotiating combat troop increase in Kuwait: officials,” by Employees Writers in Washington DC on November 10, 2011 which acknowledged;

“US negotiating with Kuwait for three,000+ combat troops in Iraq to redeploy to the Gulf emirate to counter Iran’s influence in the region. “Discussions are underway” with Kuwaiti leaders however no settlement yet. The US already has 20,000 forces in Kuwait but commanders and administration officers are eager to bolster the military’s presence in the Gulf amid considerations about instability in Iraq and Iran’s function in the region.”

Kuwait has been good to us through the years, and is so grateful that we repelled Iraq within the past. They’re also somewhat a impartial country, and so they attempt to stay out of all of the issues of the region as best they will, which is not all the time really easy considering their geographical location. Nevertheless, those troops aren’t on their way house, their merely being redeployed. That is not precisely what the American individuals who voted for Barack Obama expected.

Now then, I didn’t count on something from Barack Obama, nor did I vote for him, so I’m not shocked, I am not stunned, and I spotted when he made those promises that they have been somewhat premature, and just a little bit naïve, although I understand they had been politically prudent at the time, as Barack Obama was busy blaming all the pieces on the Bush Administration and calling President Bush unfit to lead. However hey, that is just politics and I realize that, even when the twenty-somethings of their first time voting have been awestruck by the cautious choreographed political branding of that Junior Senator from Illinois.

Air problems.

Kuwait is one of the Middle Eastern countries that have been blessed with large amounts of oil. Therefore their economy is heavily dependent on the extraction of oil and selling it to other countries. Half of the GDP of way comes from doing just five. Unfortunately for them this works to their disadvantage during the first Gulf war in 1990 when the Iraqi troops set fire on their fields of oil and gas caused a nationwide pollution that took at least a decade to clean up. However that has not stopped nowadays since they are still heavily dependent on the expectation of oil therefore there are lots of local oil refineries and industrial plants that produce large amounts of pollution in the process. In a recent survey that was carried out in Kuwait, more than 50% of the residents claimed that they were very happy with the air quality. They had reported that air pollution is causing respiratory diseases as well as cancer and skin conditions. The pollution level in Kuwait is estimated to be somewhere around 120 ug/m3. The government however insists that the levels of pollution are well within the required standards.

An essay on human rights.

Image via Wikipedia

Since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations general assembly in 1948, the human rights situation around the world has significantly improved. Yet, numerous human rights abuses endure. While it is implausible to eliminate all human right abuses in the short term, we can examine their causes and consequences to propose measures which lessen the magnitude of these abuses.

Religious discrimination is a widespread human rights abuse and operates on a spectrum, ranging from the religious cleansing of a society to children being bullied in the schoolyard because of their religious beliefs. People may be restricted from practising their religion or be subject to verbal abuse. Iran presents an extreme example of religious discrimination. Non-adherents of Islam are labelled as being ‘unclean’ by Iranian leadership. The government monitors minority religious groups and has executed religious leaders covertly. Religious minorities experience high unemployment and are economically disadvantaged as much of the economy is controlled by the state. They are also accused of espionage for the United States and her allies. This has resulted in many from minority religions fleeing the oppressive state, further polarising the society.

Developed nations which boast of religious tolerance are not exempt from religious discrimination. In the United Kingdom, studies found that one in four children are bullied because of their faith. This would potentially lead to self-mutilation and drug abuse later in life due to the emotional scars. The events of September 11 resulted in many believing that all adherents of Islam are capable of the horrific acts of sadism that were perpetrated by Al Qaeda when common sense tells us this thinking is panic-driven. This has resulted in growing discontent amongst the Muslim community in the United States as they feel that they are subject to additional scrutiny, such as additional body searches when travelling.

Another form of human rights abuse occurs when governments deliberately control and manipulate the media. They manipulate the information that people get, abusing the trust that people place in the media to provide them with the truth. They may deliberately alter details by manipulating photographs or producing false stories. For example, when the US troops entered Kuwait after the Gulf War, the people were waving small American flags and this was beamed around the world. It sent the message that US soldiers were liberating heroes. However, one can only wonder how the people of Kuwait could have acquired the aforementioned flags after an extended siege. It may only be flag waving but it serves to distort the perception of the public. Reports coming out of warzones are actively edited and information selectively presented to the public to promote government agenda. Halfway across the world, China is famed for its great wall as well as its great firewall, an invisible barrier across the web that blocks most Chinese from accessing websites that the government disapproves of.

Why do such human rights abuses arise? The underlying reasons can be narrowed down to fear and ignorance. The Iranian government fears that the influence of minority religious groups could shake its stranglehold on society and result in their demise, hence it relentlessly oppresses them. Governments around the world choose to manipulate the media to ensure that people will support their viewpoint and prevent ideals that they deem unacceptable from entering society. The United States government is genuinely fearful that they could lose the mandate to continue with their war on terrorism. On the other hand, the Chinese government is afraid that human rights activists will galvanise society to demand for more human rights, which they feel could be destabilising. When ignorance is concerned, it arises due to a lack of information about other religions or how governments work. People may claim that they understand another religion but their understanding may merely be platonic.

There is no universal solution to human rights abuses. To help alleviate the problem, we need to start from ourselves. We should go beyond the books and interact with people from other religions, as there is no better teacher than experience. By gaining a deeper understanding of these religions, we will be able to appreciate their traditions and it may even strengthen our resolve in our own faiths. The media should refuse to promote political agendas and report the facts as they are. They should have a balanced viewpoint even on sensitive issues. The media has a moral obligation to ensure that they present the facts to the people in an unbiased fashion so that people see all sides before developing their own opinions.

It is unfortunate that we must acknowledge that human right abuses still exist in the world today. We are far from an ideal society where every individual gets to enjoy his or her rights. Perhaps Ralph Waldo Emerson put it best when he mused that “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”. If we were more eager to ensure that everyone gets to enjoy basic human rights, this ideal society will be achieved sooner rather than later.

Osama bin Laden's death generates more heat than light.

First, there was only a “Mama’s boy”, scion to a Saudi Arabian billionaire; then, a legend of how he sought a soldier’s grave in pursuit of an ideal: martyrdom. Osama bin Laden, Muslim charismatic leader, in defense of Islam (Muslim religion) and Muslim dignity , proclaimed “Allah-uh Akbar” (God is great) while mass-murdering thousands of innocent victims. This twisted thought behind the act can be understood only in light of jihad (”holy war”) which bin Laden misunderstood.

A mujahid (”holy warrior”) fights in a jihad for “Allah, the Truth” and defends it at all costs ; he is a martyr if he dies or is killed for it. Bin Laden’s jihad was ”to lift the word of God, to make His religion victorious.” As a mujahid he called a jihad to unite the Muslims against “infidels” (nonbelievers of Allah) and foreign forces on “Allah’s sacred soil”– the Soviet army that occupied Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989; the American troops in Saudi Arabia from the time of the Gulf Crisis in 1990; the Israelis in Palestine. According to his “fatwa” ( religious decree) it is the duty of every Muslim to wage a relentless war against foreign occupation or invasion of Muslim lands. Osama bin Laden, collectively a huge rescue squad, waged that war in an epic clash with superpowers.

Osama bin Laden’s conflict with America began thirty-two years ago when in 1979 Soviet Russia occupied Afghanistan and established a puppet Communist government. The United States viewed the occupation of Russia as a form of imperialism ( annexation and control of other lands) and invasion and so, America sent $600 million as financial aid to Afghanistan through Pakistan’s Intelligence Agency. Osamabin Laden considered the presence of the Soviets on foreign soil as a form of profanity or desecration of ”Allah’s holy land” and so with his own money ($300 million) and donations, he recruited 35,000 warriors to drive the infidels. The Saudi Arabia government and wealthy Muslims donated $600 million a year through his connections with the Saudi royal family and the petrol-billionaires of the Gulf. After ten years of battle, Russia became bankrupt and lost the war.

In 1988, one year before the last Russian troop left Afghan soil, bin Laden formed the al-Qaeda, a radical movement inspired by the teaching of Islamic author and thinker Sayyid Qutb. Qutb preached that the sharia (Islam law) was weakened through ignorance, and that there was a need for principled Muslims to establish “true Islamic states” free from foreign influence, geared towards the creation of a new caliphate. Those that oppose Islam become enemies.

In 1989, after Russia pulled out its last troop from Afghanistan, Osamabin Laden worked hand in hand with Egyptian jihadists and with the Taliban (a radical group of warlords composed of young students who ruled Afghanistan with iron hand). The Taliban legitimized public executions and amputations, non-education of women and the the burka to cover women’s faces. They banned the performing arts (singing, dancing, music); censored television; destroyed ancient art and artifacts. Per capita income was $300 a year. Leading desperate lives, the Afghans joined bin Laden’s jihad and Afghanistan became the spawning ground of terrorists, home to the al-Qaeda.

In 1990 bin Laden returned to Saudi Arabia when Iraq invaded Kuwait. The situation put the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its oil fields at risk by neighbors fighting, and so bin Laden volunteered his mujaheddin (”holy warriors” ) but King Fahd deployed instead American troops on Saudi territory. Spurned, bin Laden began hating the Americans and publicly denounced King Fahd for what he thought to be a betrayal to the jihad cause. King Fahd banished him from Saudi Arabia .

A man contemplating revenge “keeps his wounds green.” In 1994 bin Laden resumed his verbal attack at King Fahd. King Fahd revoked his passport and citizenship. To add insult to injury his Saudi Arabian billionaire father cut off his monthly stipend ($7million a year, now equal to more or less $11 million) and disowned him. The Saudi government froze his assets; then, he was exiled to Sudan from where he was also banished. Saudi Arabia banished him permanently after that.

Bin Laden took refuge in Afghanistan, and the ruling Talibans legitimized the al-Qaeda. “Man is only truly great when he acts from passions.” Since the wealthy Arab families and businessmen saw that he was passionate in pursuing his jihad, they did not stop supporting him. He laundered their cash donations in ”unscrupulous” Islamic banks by either channeling them to charities (which served as front liners for the al-Qaeda) or by transporting cash-filled suitcases to Pakistan’s unregulated banks that can handle up to $10 million. As “emir” (commander) and senior operations chief of al-Qaeda, bin Laden had access to the money for recruiting and training operatives, for buying tickets and false passports, for paying al-Qaeda members, and for running overseas-driven businesses.

The defeat of Russia in the ten-year Soviet-Afghan War (1979-1989) taught the scheming bin Laden that superpowers collapse not because they lose the war but because their economy crumbles as a result of war. Vengeance is a delicious fruit that one waits upon to ripen. Still wounding from his rift with King Fahd who preferred American troops over his “holy warriors”, he masterminded a plan to bankrupt the United States by means of provoking itself to bankruptcy from long and weary engagements.

In 1996 the al-Qaeda announced a jihad to expel foreign troops from what they called “Islamic lands” through bin Laden’s religious edict. The mission, a metaphor for a declaration of war against the United States and its allies, was ”to kill the Americans and their allies , civilians, and military … in accord with the words of Allah… until there is no more oppression and there prevail justice and faith in Allah.”

The September 11, 2001 attack of America was a foregone conclusion. The attack was the most devastating in American history, killing approximately 3,000 people. Two commercial airliners rammed into the World Trade Center , a third one into the Pentagon, and a fourth one originally intended to target the US Capitol crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The United States intelligence agents identified the perpetrators of the attack as the al-Qaeda headed by bin Laden, al-Zawahiri, and others along with the Taliban.

The perpetrators, in spite of the ultimatum to surrender so they would be put to trial, evaded arrest. Whereupon, on October 7, 2001 at the order of President George W. Bush, the US Navy and US Air Forces launched Operation Enduring Freedom along with the British Armed Forces and struck at al-Qaeda and Taliban targets throughout Afghanistan, crippling their power, but not exterminating them. The remnants of the attack found the nearest bolt-hole: Pakistan.

In 2003 President Bush sought to find evidence if bin Laden and Saddam Hussein were collaborating to attack the United States. Whereupon, he invaded Iraq and deposed Saddam Hussein, his three sons, and the Baath Party, but no evidence of any collaboration was found. He also failed to find the suspected weapons of mass destruction, a frustration he accepted.

May 1, 2011 ended fifteen years of global manhunt for Osama bin Laden when he was gunned down by the US Navy SEAL (sea, air, land), an elite commando ( military unit) composed of “the best of the best” trained soldiers in the world, acknowledged superheroes with legendary fighting skills. The SEALS operate in anonymity, a standard operating procedure. After the operation, they disappear into the shadows.

It is told that in an obscure mission whether to take bin Laden dead or alive, thirty to forty SEALS descended from two helicopters and stormed into bin Laden’s compound at Abbottabad, Pakistan where bin Laden was thought to be in hiding in a not too heavily-guarded three-storey mansion for six years. Osama bin Laden was unarmed but resisted arrest. A woman tried to shield him but was forced away. In the fray, bin Laden’s face was blasted beyond recognition: a bloody gunshot wound to his head, the left eye splintered–a gory image, perhaps more bizarre than the evil things he did. It took less than forty minutes to complete the operation. His body, reduced to a bag of meat and bones, was taken aboard a ship, washed and treated in accordance with Muslim ritual, after which the thing was unceremoniously thrown into the sea where the yawning ocean received it.

After bin Laden’s death, many conspiracy theories have surfaced, generating more heat than light , a source for splitting hairs, a feeding frenzy among journalists who sometimes turn out to be the bigger story than the event itself as a result of inconsistencies and juggling of data. There are people who wonder if President Obama timed the capture of bin Laden to jibe with the coming election. As of now, President Obama has the ace up his sleeves, with an approval rating of 56%. What is he going to do with the 44%? Fix the economy, easier said than done. ”In economics the majority is always wrong”. Statistics are inconstant lovers. Even the sun is not steady to the eye.

About the controversial picture: Is he the lunatic guy we got? The DNA is not infallible. Well…. IF he’s dead , he’s dead: no two ways about it. The transparency score? Zero. If the picture is only a lie or a trick, that is no big deal because it is easy to photo shop; besides, the more you examine a picture, the more you do not understand. Take it from Hitler: “The more lies, the more you are believed.” Lie, Obama, lie! as long as you don’t put your people in harm’s way. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the hardest thing to keep is the one that is not there.

Let’s give our leaders the benefit of the doubt. Call it an inexactitude or a a white lie. White lies are harmless, may be done for the greater good in the long run. Some of the Congressmen reportedly saw the gory picture but dismissed it later as fake. Weren’t they delighted? Some people are pleased when they are deceived. The President and Congress are the writers of the first rough draft of history. Did they get it right the first time? God cannot change the past but historians can. ”The real war does not get into the books.” (Walt Whitman) The President and the Congressmen are in the same basket.

Justice for Osama bin Laden? “Judgment is the first step to retraction”, and so, one must be careful in putting his hand on the scale. Commonsense and intuition tell us that injustice becomes more just and fair than justice when the crime outweighs the punishment. The worst kind of justice that could have been accorded to bin Laden would be to put him on trial. Sentence first, verdict later, was the best course of action America took. His death was long overdue. To America which is the world’s show window of democracy, “justice delayed is democracy denied” (John F. Kennedy). Fair vengeance does not call for punishment. Justice may not always be the best policy. “Let the punishment match the offense” would be a strange and unfair concept of justice applied to bin Laden. Death to bin Laden was a fulfilment of his obsession to be a martyr; to America, a punishment for his wrongdoing. On this score we gave bin Laden a favor; on this account we have not been fully redressed.

In the context of Islamic justice, did bin Laden get justice? The Quran (sacred scripture of Islam) places things “in their rightful place, giving others equal treatment” a concept of equality. A just Muslim leader says, ”I forbid injustice for myself and forbid it also for you.” After the September 11 attacks two wars were launched by America to find bin Laden so he could defend himself in a court of law, but he evaded arrest. He took America on a merry chase for more or less a decade hoping to bankrupt America. Holed up in his hideout, in a flash, before the SEALS put a bullet in his head, bin Laden lived to see that it was an American bullet that put an end to all that was evil and mortal of him. Figuratively, he sat on a throne of bayonets. A man who lives by the sword dies by the sword. This is retributive justice: the reward of virtue and punishment of vice. This is also Islamic justice, “poetic justice” to the Greeks.

According to some senior Islamic scholars, sea burial for bin Laden does not square with the Muslim tradition for burying the dead: the proper style should be, that the head points towards the holy city of Mecca. For me, two horns to adorn the blasted head would make for the most conspicuous head that ever pointed towards Mecca. To equip a devil’s head with a halo would be a parody (ridicule) to a saint.

Bin Laden left no other lasting memorial but that he was born and that he died. It is as natural to die as to be born. He died a holy warrior to Allah’s cause. He had a better burial than the pulverized victims of the September 11 massacre. What more could his fans and followers ask for?

Bin Laden’s memory lingers on as a concrete specimen of the “fickleness of breath’s warm power” and of the futility of dreams. Where is it now, his dream to unify the Muslims in their jihad against the infidels? Where is his new caliphate? Will his memory fester like a toothache among the al-Qaedans and become a rallying point to pursue his unfinished mission? Osama bin Laden, an unfinished song, a glide way to martyrdom, as many of his followers believe. To most of us, it is both terrible and amazing how dreams can die. Round the restlessness of the yawning ocean that engulfed him forever, hovers the tale of his fall from tyranny and power, whatever that means.

The al-Qaeda lost a leader but gained who to them was a martyr. To this band of international terrorists bin Laden perished not in the way of animal destiny but in the style of a holy warrior whose life story squares with the jihad narrative of a man who deserted his material wealth in search of the ideal. We have freedom of worship, so let it be.

But where is PEACE? On one hand, President Barack Obama, hunter and hunted, is the new hybrid of the American fox and the lion: the fox that detects the traps and the lion that terrifies the wolves. And he is on the warpath. To the al-Qaeda he has this message: America is reforming not a dead man but everybody else. No pussyfooting on Uncle Tom’s territory. On the other hand, the al-Qaeda has a new battle song: ”BARACK OBAMA: WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE”. War, a game of grown-up boys, specializes in miscalculations. Let’s see whose mud hits the hardest. There is no second prize for the runner-up. Shall we not give PEACE a chance?

Osama bin Laden, “Prince of Terrorists”, has fallen while America is still on its toes. America, misunderstood by bin Laden as desecrator of ”Allah’s sacred soil”, never sought wars of expansion and aggression and the conquest of Islam. This is America: healer of the wounds of the defeated. But Bad Guy Osama bin Laden will never understand this: in death there is no more argument. ###

Troops Seal Only Against One Courier Osama.

Four out of five people killed when special forces stormed the U.S. Navy SEAL Osama Bin Laden hiding place was not armed. This is contrary to the initial version of America.

White House officials insist that U.S. troops had “engaged in a firefight during the operation” when they attacked the compound on Sunday night.

But rather than attack in the middle of a hail of bullets, as was first presented, Pentagon sources confirmed that shots can only come from a gunman.

Abu Ahmed al-Kuwait, bin Laden trusted courier, had been hiding behind a door in the living room adjacent to the main building when American forces begin their attack.

He opened fire, but killed. After that, there were no other shots from inside the complex during the mission was 38 minutes.

Although there is recognition of this, official sources insisted SEAL team had faced a “threatening and hostile environment” as they explore the complex was to find their target.

Yesterday they were forced to confirm that none of the four victims were killed, including one of Bin Laden and an unnamed woman, carrying a weapon when they shot dead.

Latest inconsistencies in the description of America from the attack causes a variety of allegations that the Pentagon did not fully transparent about it.

The officials had to fix a number of statements about the attack, including the claim that Bin Laden has been holding automatic weapons and crouched behind his wife when he was shot dead.

Recent statement that differs significantly from the first information released on Monday.
