Population and Reproductive Health Policy – Shrii Lanka
The main aspects of this population policy are to bring the population level down and to make life have more quality for Sri Lankans. This population policy was put in place 1998. The government believed it was necessary to enact the policy as it could achieve a higher quality of life for its people by providing quality reproductive health information and services, achieve gender equality, provide health care and social support for the elderly, promote the economic benefits of migration and urbanization while controlling their adverse social, improve health effects and to reach a stable population size in the long term.
